Buyer beware!! I purchased a gold chain necklace that had breaks throughout the chain and could not be fixed. They charged $400 for it. I didn't wear it right away and when I put it on It broke immediately. I took it to a jewelry store and they said the chain was in terrible condition, had breakage throughout the chain, and wasn't worth fixing. I did call Rocky's Pawn shop, Indio, to see if they would honor the fact that they sold broken jewelry, but they said no. Not good business to sell broken jewelry. read more

I have a ton of guitars and like looking at pawn shops for guitars Went in here and saw a martin in great shape (slightly used)it was listed for 449.00 I looked it up and seen it was new a guitar center for the same price. I asked to look at it and the guy was nice to me He handed it to me and I tried it out. Nice guitar. I handed it back to him and he asked "How do you like it?" I told him that I liked it but I'm closer to the 300 dollar ballpark but thank you. I started to look at other stuff and he said " hold on, let me see what I can do" He then called another guy out to get me a deal. I told the guy I'm not interested, but at 300 I'm in. 350 out the door. This guy is about 5 feet tall black hair and has the personality of a monster! He laughed at me and started going off on me in front of all the people. I told him, just be nice. I come here often. He told me " if you have been here. I would recognize you". I reminded him of a conversation we had the previous week and he lied and said I'm mistaken. I told him what kind of dog is smelling up the entire building.(they keep this dog in the back.) I told him treat people with respect. He said "you gotta earn it 1st." He told me everything is marked with a price tag and trying to barter is a sign of disrespect. Wow! Rockys wash your dog! Have had pretty good luck here, like the one I reviewed in Palm Springs location. Do not recommend the Palm Desert location, at least haven't had much luck there. The one next to Revivals varies, had some interesting bargains imo. The one in Indio is pretty good, a few treasures here and there, would recommend to other musicians and bargain hunters. Luck and timing important so keep trying, as YMMV. read more

Okay. Listen up, all of my Yelp peeps! I have not Ever been inside of a Rocky's Pawn Shop. Neither had I Ever heard of them, until I became a regular passer-by in the Coachella Valley Desert area. Called them once, left a voicemail & nobody ever returned my call. Plus, I called once to see what they did accept for pawning and loans. Well, I was considering getting a loan on, or pawning, an iPad. Now, I've been paying attention to my classmates, schoolmates, as well as, my professional networking buddies when they've commented on doing this themselves. So, the time came up in which I decided that I'd move forward with attempting to either Pawn mine, or Get a Loan. The only thing I was not considering? A rude, snude and lurking looking man that would give me glance "As if I Offended" him. Creepy too! Wow! First impressions matter and evidently this place doesn't care to act the part. I was simply asking the man to explain their Loan and Pawn fees, costs (Policies, procedures). Instead he replied as though I was insulting him, with a dirty look. All within a 5 minute timespan. I was done trying to communicate with this guy, who replied to me completely unprofessional. Ugh! A waste of time. Good thing I practice using other Pawn Shops. Yikes! read more

HORRIBLE PAWN SHOP!!! I would never reccommend this place or go back ever again!!! I've been turned away with several different items and it has been a variety of items. I thought they were a pawn shop? they're way to snobby on what they will take and if they do theyre cheapskates on the offer they give you. PLEASE dont waste your time. After watching a few episodes of Pawn Stars and was expecting to see some interesting goods laying around at good prices. Unfortunately, in this case looks are deceiving. On the outside the pawn shop looks huge! The place is actually very small on the inside and not much to view. Well, let me be specific, I'm looking for more guy stuff like tools. I pawn my stuff at Rockys because of the great service. I always go to Michele, she is the best at Indio location. Some of the others are a bit rude but overall they are fine. I went in on Mon to get rid of some broken chains. Michele is always checking the items I bring to make sure it's real. I appreciate this because she has twice now found real gold when I had no idea.. michelevis always friendly, polite,helpful and professional, which is definately not true of everyone that works there. I recently had a 100 ounce silver bar in their layaway plan and had paid approx $800 into it. I had been late on my payment on several occasions and never had any mention of it. Then during these past three months when i was going through a difficult time and moving, i missed the paymnts. Yes its my fault, but i didnt think that they would pull my item and take the money that i had put into it without a warning or a simple phone call. I mean, this was a $2000 item. They were rude when i asked about the account and said that there was nothing that they could do and that Rocky pulled it. That was it. I asked for my acct info and said they had nothing of it. Wtf!? ZERO STARS would be better! They rip you off is right! How? You pick out two movies, check them yourself for damages (they're good), walk over to the counter to pay, the guy behind the counter takes them just out of your sight range, you don't think anything of it at the time because you're busy talking to your friend, guy comes back, you pay the money, leave, get home and realize the dude had stolen your movies. Rocky's is such a find. I was on the hunt for a gift for my sister's birthday, knowing she likes the fancy stuff, but I can't afford department store prices. Stopped in while I was in Indio, and it was the best experience. Staff is super knowledgable about the product and they helped me work within a specific budget. Picked out a beautiful pair of diamond earrings, that I would never be able to afford otherwise. The only thing I have to say is I wish they had another location closer to me, or I would come more often. Will be back for sure. read more

I needed a $300 loan (Id have taken $200, $250?) on a like-new 3 yr old U.S. Made (In Corona, CA!) Fender American Vintage '59 Stratocaster Electric Guitar with case and all the dozen or more original tags - totally mint! - the top of the American Made Fender Electric Guitar line aside from the Custom Shop who makes guitars for like Neil Young and Bob Dylan, MSRP $2,250. First thing the employee in Indio does is look at the Decal with his jeweler's loupe (they all wear one around their neck) and makes a "huff" sound. I asked him what he saw that was wrong with the decal. "Its a decal! And it doesn't say 'Made in U.S.A." Duh. Its an American Vintage '59 Srat-... HELLO! - its a replica? No 1950s and more than half of 1960s Fenders wouldnt have had country of origin labels on them. In fact practically nothing made in the US did until the Fair Price and Labeling Act (FPLA) was made into law requiring country of origin labeling in 1967! That costs money and...but that must have been one of the civics classes this guy cut before he dropped out of the 10th grade to start this brilliant career at Rocky's. Silly me! And every guitar and bass, uke and steel pedal Fender ever made in its entire 70 years has decals on the head-stocks with "Fender"and the model "Stratocaster" or "Precision Bass", whatever. Fender has a world class website with over 6 hover zoom detailed pics of my guitar, front and back and another for the case like they do for all the American Vintage Stratocaster models. I checked it out. Even side views. Every inch of every model as big as your monitor with no loss of picture quality. I saw much MUCH less expensive Fender "Squire" Strats, generic guitars and of course the obligatory Johnson or two. After hundreds of years some idiot came out with "Johnson" guitars, no doubt to fill the void that had been the pawn-shop-as-music-retailer niche. Im sure others had considered the name but came to their senses or otherwise sobered up before the first prototype was finished. "Hello little girl, and what is your name? Mary? Why,thats a pretty name! And is this your mommy? It is? And she's buying you a guitar? Oh my O my, yes! A pink one!!! Dear me! I said to myself the moment I saw you, "Wouldn't she just be the sweetest little thing with a pink one!?!" And Im sure I have just what you are looking for so lets you and mommy and me go in there and check out my Johnson!" or "...it was a great concert Mom! - he did a 20 minute solo on his Johnson! Why are you laughing? Why not his "own" Johnson???" Its only fitting that they're hanging in Rockys. All junk. Everything in the store. Made in Korea, or China, Mexico. Crap finishing. Gaps everywhere. Bowed necks. Every crap guitar I see hanging in there is worse than the last! Something worth considering if I decide to go as Jimi Hendrix this Halloween and need a guitar or two suitable for burning! The shop was empty aside from 4 or 5 employees and me. But no one would look past the end of the little chains round their necks and the jeweler's loupes or pick up the phone (I even offered my phone. I offered to pay for the call to Fender...in Corona - 50 miles away!) or spend the better part of 2 or 3 minutes online to verify that they werent going to get burned by loaning me a couple a hundred bucks on a guitar far nicer than anything Ive ever seen in any Rockys. They looked at me like I was trying to sell them the Brooklyn Bridge! The Palm Desert Rockys was also empty when I walked in. The employee behind the little pawn window said "I only need to see whats in front of me, not what's online" as he began opening the jeweler's loop he was wearing around his neck to examine what I guessed would be a decal. I asked if he knew much about guitars. OK so it was a rhetorical question. I told him what happened in Indio and he immediately defended them. Guitar Yoda folded up his jeweler's loupe and let it fall back around his neck and it gave a little jerk like a man hanged before coming back to rest against his "Hock it to Rock!" T-shirt/uniform. I guessed he must be the manager, "Yep. Decal" he declared. Didn't I tell you so? My jaw dropped, my eyes widened "Really?!? Oh my God is that bad?" I tried to sound really worried. "And no 'Made in U.S.A'" he sort of tsked. "Weve been burned before. Im not loaning you anything on it," He paused, I smiled and just blinked my anticipation, "...we're all the same, Rocky's Pawn Shops are all one company, yknow," Magic Loupe Boy finished, sounding impatient.
