I've been a member of World Gym Tracy for nearly 13 years, and if you had told me a decade ago that this place would turn into what it is today, I would've laughed. This used to be the gym everyone in town talked about. It had pride, it had energy, and it felt like the owners actually cared about the people who trained here. But it is not outstanding today. "Mediocre" would be a compliment. Now it feels like an abandoned project that someone forgot to finish. The decline hasn't been gradual or subtle. It's been a free fall. Yes, there's a lot of equipment. Barbells, dumbbells, Hammer Strength stations, cables, cardio machines. On paper, it looks like a fitness paradise. But walk in and take a real look. So many pads are ripped apart, machines are taped together like a middle-school craft project, and benches look like they've survived multiple natural disasters. It's embarrassing to see a gym with this much potential present itself like this. A serious facility doesn't fix equipment with electrical tape like someone patching up a kid's science fair volcano. It's not just sloppy, it's disrespectful to the people paying to use it. And the locker rooms. If you didn't know better, you'd think you'd wandered into a neglected public restroom off the freeway. The Coliseum BART station has cleaner restrooms. They are consistently filthy, and there's no excuse for it. Not at this price point. Not for a gym that used to take pride in being clean. It should not feel like a health risk just to tie your shoes. The building itself is another disaster. The roof literally collapsed in 2023. That should have been a major wake-up call, a turning point, an all-hands-on-deck moment. Instead, nearly three years later, the place is still in patchwork limbo. It feels like the gym is held together more by hope than actual structural integrity. And during the winter, the building turns into a meat locker because they can't be bothered to turn on the heat. People are walking in ready to lift and instead end up shivering through their warm-ups like they're training in an abandoned warehouse in the middle of the Arctic. Services that once made this gym feel like a premium membership have vanished completely. Childcare? Gone. Group exercise classes? Gone. Tanning? Gone. Everything that used to add value has been stripped away, yet the cost of membership has not dropped by a single cent. Members are being asked to pay for an experience that no longer exists. The staff is the clearest indication of how low the bar has fallen. It's not that they're rude. That would at least show engagement. The problem is they're barely present in any meaningful way. Most of the time they are parked behind the front desk scrolling through Instagram, oblivious to broken equipment, dirty floors, overflowing trash, or anything remotely resembling responsibility. Watching the staff stare at their phones while the gym physically decays around them is almost surreal. It sends one unmistakable message: no one is steering the ship. What makes this decline hurt is how much history I have here. I've made friends in this gym. I've hit milestones here. I've pushed myself through countless early mornings and late nights. This place used to feel like a second home. Now it feels like a reminder of how fast standards collapse when ownership stops caring. And the truth is simple. Tracy has far too many gym options now for anyone to tolerate this level of neglect. In Shape. Crunch. GetFit 24/7. Even Planet Fitness. All of them offer cleaner facilities, better-maintained equipment, and more attentive staff. People will absolutely not keep paying premium rates for a rundown gym that treats maintenance and member experience like afterthoughts. You do not get to charge Mercedes prices while providing a Toyota level experience. If World Gym Tracy wants to survive, real changes need to happen. Not next year. Not eventually. Now. Because long-time members aren't leaving because their goals changed. They're leaving because this gym stopped trying, stopped improving, and stopped respecting the people who kept it alive all these years. At this point, it's not the members abandoning the gym. Pros: Big gym, lots of equipment, lots of free weights, plenty of space, friendly staff. Recently added some new equipment in the last couple of years. Has everything you need if you're there to lift weights. Got rid of most of the broken machines. Cons: New owner that took over a few years ago just doesn't care. She's literally never there. The place is filthy, especially the men's bathroom...it's absolutely disgusting. The toilets & urinals are like a truck stop and the whole men's bathroom smells like piss & mold. There's a handful of broken machines still taking up space. They started turning the lights off during COVID to keep attention away and haven't turned them back on. The gym floor is lit but the back where the treadmills/bikes etc. are is still dark which I've gotten used to. It gets hot in the summer because she doesn't want to blast the AC. Since ownership is never there, they don't really enforce any kind of etiquette from people who are there to make Instagram posts or people throwing around weights to show off. I've been going there a long time - around 18 years. My dad got fed up long ago and moved on to another gym as with other friends who were members of at least 10 years. It has what I need and it's not crowded with people who go there to socialize. It's a dirty, dingy gym but that keeps certain people away which is good in a way. All of these characteristics would be acceptable if it were some kind of boxing gym but it's not. The new owner doesn't take interest. Between Shawn or his parents, the previous owners were literally almost always there and you would see them personally vacuuming/cleaning. The studio room used to be packed with classes during weeknights but it's vacant now aside from people using it to stretch or do ab workouts. They used to have trainers, events, classes etc. It felt like a community almost. This is a no frills, run down gym that will only attract a certain kind of member, which you'd imagine is bad for business but that explains why the current owner invests sparingly. read more

Worlds disgusting Gym. Pros: Staff is nice and there's a plethora of machines and weights Cons: The place is absolutely disgusting. Most of the equipment have ripped fabric, the place smells like a casino/smoke shop, the studio needs to have the floors mopped, the floor/yoga mats aren't not cleaned (left my wipe black), and the place really needs to maintained. I planned on taking a shower and wondered why the women's showers were so dark... only one shower had a light fixture. I passed on the shower considering how dirty the place looked. Such a fall since new ownership.. this used to be a clean safe place to workout however upon entry today I notice all but emergency lights are off it's actually dark on the inside with weights on the floor and black metal machines it makes for a very hazardous environment! They clearly do not have any regard for public safety when I asked if this county was open for indoor gyms they answered no and said "if you wear a mask it's ok though" Every single machine in the building is covered in dust it is obvious they are not putting forth any additional efforts much less the minimum to keep it clean and sterile I wouldn't recommend any one go this gym but especially any one who may feel they are at high risk for covid.. Had to come here and rant about this. Went in today. I am new to this gym but have been going almost every day for past few weeks. Today I forgot my card and lady at the front was trying to help. This dude behind the counter comes over and is asking me questions like I'm trying to break into their vault. Says he can't find my paperwork. I signed up and showed them pictures of me there literally the day before. He states that I'm "definitely lying" and even after showing him my ID states I don't even look like myself on the license. This guy was a complete idiot. Wasted my time and am going to cancel and move over gyms. The gym itself is nothing special, older equipment basic machines, dark as hell in there. Pretty dead gym overall but this guy really pissed me off acting like he was guarding diamonds in this gym. read more

Not only can you not cancel your membership over the phone, when you mentioned you've moved, they say they're going to give the owner your contact to help you but they never call or email you as the employees say they do. The gym has tanked since new ownership took over anyway. Bathrooms never clean cause the teenagers working there are just sitting on their butts on their phones all day. Typical. What an awesome gym! I was in Tracy for business & wanted to put in a workout in a real gym instead of the crummy hotel gym so I did a search on Yelp. The pics & reviews of this gym looked great so I thought why not?! Man, am I glad I came. Guest pass was $5.00 bucks, super cheap. I've been charged as high as $30 for a guest pass at an inferior gym in Boston so World Gym Rules! I like that this is a no frills gym. Nothing fancy. Just the iron. The place was clean. The equipment look to be well maintained. The place didn't smell bad, including the locker room & restroom. The staff was friendly. I even got a free 16oz smoothie for my Yelp check-in. How awesome is that?! I was in such a good mood that I ended up working out for almost 2 hrs, trying out all the equipment. I came back the following morning for another workout. read more

I'm not sure how this gym is still in business. It's the nastiest, dirtiest and unkept gym in Tracy. Some of the equipment is constantly non-working, pads are torn and stank. Please stop in and have a look for yourself. The new owner has no idea how to run a gym. She's a first timer and it shows. The front desk staff just sits on their butts and do nothing, even when the owner is there. Which is daily while she works out for a few hours. Staff should be cleaning on an hourly schedule since there's nothing else to do. This gym is so dirty. I have been going here off and on since it was Gold's Gym. It is so ran down. The pads haven't been replaced for years. Filth and dust everywhere. I tried to over look it but when I went into the bathroom that was the final straw. It smelled like someone was dead in there. The place needs to be scrubbed down. I joined World Gym in early July, since all fitness facilities in Contra Costa county are still closed for COVID. Even with having to drive from San Ramon, I figured it would at least be a place to be able to go. I am happy to say that I am thrilled with the facility! It's clean, everything is in working order, and the users are respectful in terms of putting equipment away and cleaning after use. I have been a 24 Hour fitness member for years, and while I appreciate the size of their facility in San Ramon, I've actually like this World Gym more since the employees and other members are no-nonsense, respectful, and accommodating. One star because it's impossible to cancel membership. I went there twice trying to cancel it they said you have to wait till your 1 year contract is over or pay $300. I said I will wait but I do not want to be charged after the year they said okay. Of course without realizing I was getting charged even after the year. I just recently started going to World Gym. It's very different from the other gyms in the area. The staff is really nice and helpful. (Shout out to Ro!) It's a smaller facility but it has everything you need. Overall great atmosphere and I love going in the mornings. read more

I've been coming here for a year or two I think. Lately I've cut down my visits to a few times a month as I train primarily somewhere else now. Very well equipped gym for a regular gym go'er as well as those who are serious about bodybuilding/powerlifting and even Olympic weightlifting and CrossFit. Their equipment isn't the best, you won't find Eleiko or anything here but what they have is good enough. They have pretty much everything you need no matter if you are new to the gym or experienced. A bonus item they have that I don't believe any other gym in Tracy has is a deadlift platform. This can all be used for Olympic weightlifting as well since you can drop the weights onto the platform. Another piece of equipment I really liked was the power rack. They recently replaced it with a newer one and it's okay. I liked the older one better. But oh well. 2 squat racks, 2 smith machines, 3 benches and a ton of other equipment. They even have a studio space with mirrors and stuff. Not sure if anyone can use it though. Might need to book. It can get busy but it's never been a problem for me. There has been days when I had to wait for a squat rack to open up. I know they just opened a CrossFit box recently. I don't know anything about it other than it's associated with Worlds somehow. If you are looking for a gym for a good price I recommend Worlds. And if you are coming from InShape I think they cut you a deal on the sign up fees. I can't remember. But you can't really beat $16/month. One tip to remember is when you sign up for auto pay make sure there is money in your account all day as they charge your account at a random time and if you so happen to not have money at that moment they will kick the payment back and charge you a $25 fee. It's a pain but not a deal breaker. read more

There have been a few improvements to the gym such as making more space and adding a few equipment, but it is absolutely dirty!!! The previous owners ensured hospitality which is no longer present here. I hope they add more equipment or at least a hipthrust machine. Also turn on the AC and lights it is so hot and dim in there!! When I am told one thing (such as I will not be billed any longer after a period of time by one of your employee) I tend to believe it. Second, when I am told I will receive a phone call back from management multiple times I also tend to believe it, still have not received a phone call. This was my first time here and I feel in love with it. I visit family in Tracy 1-2 weekends a month and hate missing a workout. I tried other gyms in the area and have not been too impress with other gym's equipment and rates. World's gym popped up on yelp so I decided to check it out. KC help me out at the front and provided me with a 5 day guest pass to check it out. One of my favorite gym by far. This gym is small but big at the same time. All I do is lift. I don't mess around with fancy machines or need any bells and whistle. I just want to get in, lift hard, and get on with my day. That is what World's gym is able to offer me. If you can't get a full workout with the weights and equipment that they have here, you really do not belong in a gym. No lie. Everything is organize, weights are reracked by the members (thank god!). They have all the benches you need from flat, incline, decline, and half back seats. They have power racks, smith machines, isometric machines and even an area for Olympic weight lifting. I spoke to KC for a little bit and he was very friendly and genuine. He was honest about his gym and was very proud of it. Just based on his customer service alone, I am definitely calling the manager to see if I can work out a deal and see what I can do to come back to this gym. Bottom line, if you are looking for a friendly place to get in shape and don't have to go to In-shape, check out World's gym. Even on my way out, one of the members kindly approach me and just talked about how much he loved this gym. I will be back tomorrow to take advantage of my 5 day pass. I usually frequent this gym during non peak times so I couldn't comment on the evening rush but during the late mornings and early afternoons this place is a joy to work out in. Maybe I should have prefaced my review with the fact that for the past 6 years I have worked out at gyms in San Francisco where the people just don't give a f--- and the gym is consistently packed. Nearly everyone here puts things back where they belong and everyone I have met is very friendly. They have a good mix of equipment but there is room for improvement. The gym could use some cosmetic updates but it doesn't bother me. And at the moment there are too many treadmills out of order which can't be a good thing during peak times. I'm a new member and glad I joined this gym. My husband's been going here for almost a year now and both of us are loving this place. They have good selection of equipments that you won't have to wait long to use. Not too crowded that you have to rub elbows with one another. Some people though doesn't wipe down their sweats off equipments and that just irritates me, it's nasty people! I love getting my workout here and sweat off those flabs...Lol! The staffs were very pleasant and friendly. They also have tanning beds to get your tan on, daycare area to drop off your little ones so you can focus on yourself and free classes to get your cardio on. Been a member for about 3 years now. Me and my wife come here about three to four times a week to lift weights and do some cardio. I like this place because there is always something available for every particular muscle group you want to focus on. If a machine is busy, there is a free weight or cable alternative for the same thing. You can get your workout knocked out quick without having to wait for people. Everyone is pretty chill here. All the equipment you need to get a solid workout in, especially if you're looking to do some weight training. Better supplied than most franchise gyms. (Way more kettle bells options here than InShape Tracy). Also not so crowded that you're constantly waiting for equipment. Only thing I'd add are TRX ropes and that weighted sled you can push around at other gyms. Gym staff is also super approachable and friendly, and when I went there was an awesome mix of throwback music playing--funk, new jack swing, old school r&b.
