I'm considering joining a gym, so I redeemed a day pass via planet fitness website. Aziz was available to give me a tour and discuss membership options. Mid sized facility with a good variety of equipment. For being an older gym, everything appears well maintained and only one machine was down for repair. Arrived right after work and it was not at its peak, which is super encouraging. No in person classes or training, but PF offers digital courses. Hours are practically 24/7 but you will still need to plan around closures for the weekends and such. Basic but clean amenities. If you choose a premium membership you have access to any national location and access to a private amenities. This location includes a private lounge with tanning machines, red light therapy, and hydrochairs. This facility has previously offered summer programs for minors, so you might expect an influx of patrons and having to compete for available space/equipment. *all private spaces were confirmed to be vacant before any photos/video were taken. The app has a crowd meter to let you know how busy the gym is supposedly in "real-time". Well the crowd meter is inaccurate because I have gone multiple times when the meter has 2 of 10 bars (low) so 20% full on the app yet when I arrive the gym, it is completely full. I would like to know how they determine the meter bc the difference is significant. You check-in when you scan in but you don't check "out", so I don't see how they can accurately capture how many people are in there unless the employees are supposed to keep an eye on those who exit and manually modify the meter. So I would not rely on the crowd meter in the app. Restrooms are clean. They have showers. Lockers (bring your own lock). I wish they would put more paper towel and cleaning bottle dispensers throughout the gym. Often times the paper towel dispenser is empty and it's the same one most of the time so then everyone walks to the farther dispenser. It doesn't seem the workers are good on checking those to see if a refill is needed. There's usually 4+ workers at the front and I don't see them making rounds in general and they seem to prefer to talk and hang out at the front desk or be on their phones with their heads down. read more

To all the Debbie Downers criticizing the gym and its aesthetics, unfortunately, patrons are mostly to blame for the mess and ongoing sloppiness you observe. Staff members can't control every aspect; they are limited in their ability to manage the habitual poor habits of members who neglect to clean up after themselves. That's the core issue. Most people you see fail to wipe down the machines properly or return dumbbells to their designated racks after using them. This situation reflects the reality of what it's like to step into the gym. The clutter and mess you notice outside the staff's control are primarily due to members' lack of responsibility. Staff can only clean and maintain as frequently as they are able, but they can't monitor each individual to ensure they clean up after themselves. Consequently, some reviews seem petty and unnecessary. Let's shift our focus more toward what the gym actually offers and whether it benefits members. Instead of dwelling on negativity, why not start fresh this upcoming new year by fostering a more positive attitude? Call out members kindly when you see them making a mess or not re-racking weights properly. Instead of acting like keyboard warriors and blaming the gym, appreciate the staff's continuous efforts--such as their constant cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing. These efforts demonstrate that the staff are doing all they can, given that members don't cooperate by cleaning up after themselves. After all, what else can they reasonably do? Are they supposed to enter every stall and wipe down after each person? Let's be realistic and respectful of everyone's efforts. #nojudgmentzone read more

Maybe the most disgusting gym on the planet. Give a homeless person $20 to clean your showers. Yep, that bad. Always three employees at check in. Always an empty paper towel or toilet paper holder. Hope you have a good gag reflex if you plan to shower here. I started a membership at Planet Fitness... The price for the membership was cheaper than any other gym/fitness center around the area!!! Well you know that old saying you get what you pay for you? I should have known better. All the desired stations bench press, squats dead lift, leg press and so on where all occupied throughout my daily visits. Stations i would settle for sometimes were followed by another guest standing near by pressuring me to be done with my sets. Many machines were damage or out of order. The bathrooms smelled bad more then any typical public restrooms. Stalls never seem to have toilet paper and trying to track down employee's is impossible to come by because typically there not employees working but one employee at a time working. Experiencing all this I still wasn't going to write a review. It wasn't until I attempted to cancel (which by the way was a hassle). I hadn't used the membership service and perks for over two months and decided to cancel a few days before the money would be automatically be withdrawn thats where i made a mistake. So after successfully canceling Planet Fitness membership the charged my account a few days later and overdraft me! No where in the picture I attached did it say I would still be charged or that my membership was still vailed for another month. Outraged I called calm and collective to the Tracy location under the impression it was a easy fix and I'd be reimbursed. I mean I haven't step a foot in the building for two and a half months now. But after speaking to a PF employee name Sharon i was dissatisfied with her service she was very blunt and had no remorse for my hardships and she didnt try and make any accommodations. She went on to say "The contract fine print states you have to cancel before the 10th of the month. Technically you still have another month to use membership". Obviously I wont exercise that option but I advise every and anyone not to go to this particular location. 12/12/2023- I had planned on canceling my membership due to financial issues. I went in today and was met with a very friendly staff member at the front desk. I informed him why I was there, and he immediately called for a manager to help me out Austin came up, and after telling him my situation was kind enough to offer me some options and explain them in detail. I didn't know that I could freeze my membership for up to 3 months, which was a perfect option since I had planned on rejoining in about that time Austin, as well as the first employee to assist me, they were very helpful and not judgemental as to why I wanted to "cancel". Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of the employee that called on the radio or a manager. read more

There aren't a lot of gym options in Tracy but planet fitness is definitely the most cost efficient option. The staff are super kind and the only reason I take off a star is because I feel like it's always pretty packed and the machine you want is rarely open without a wait. read more

Unfortunately, this gym has gone downhill fast. One of the biggest issues lately is their summer promotion offering free memberships to high schoolers. While it's a great idea in theory, there are zero guardrails in place -- no requirement for adult supervision, and from what I've witnessed, no staff oversight on the gym floor. Just last weekend, I saw three teenagers using the leg press unsafely. They loaded over 400 lbs onto it, and one of them said, "This is gonna be the best leg press of all time." Predictably, it ended badly -- the weight came down and pinned one of them. His friends couldn't help, and it took me and another gym-goer to lift the weight and get the kid out safely. Thankfully, no one got seriously hurt. Meanwhile, the staff? Sitting behind the front desk, completely unaware. This is just one example in a growing list of issues I've experienced here, from poor management to lack of cleanliness and maintenance. I finally had enough and canceled my membership. I'd rather stick to TRX and running at home than risk injury in a place that clearly doesn't prioritize safety or its paying members. read more

I have been a member of planet fitness for a few years now... I originally got the membership for my daughter who was recovering from a sports injury. I never really used PF as my primary fitness center because I was too busy with work. Last year I decided to leave my career behind and focus on my peace...and it landed me back here. The gym is a place for me to let go of a lot of things I've had to witness in a profession often times filled with chaos and trauma. Planet Fitness allows it's members to be themselves. Why I like PF are most of the members are nice, they're friendly and just there to do what a fitness center is designed to do. No-one really is judging you, they're just there to get a work out. Of course there's the one or two people that'll come in there being that weight throwing individual. And what surprises me is PF supposedly has a "Lunk" meter....but I never seen employee enforce this policy and it's not because the meter is broken. It doesn't bother me personally, but you can tell some others are maybe intimidated or get annoyed by it, and you just see them distance/separate themselves from those "Lunks" I just remain focused on why I'm there because. I would like to point out one of the persistent issues this particular location has, one of the urinals in the men's restroom seems to always be broken and who knows why? And quite often the restroom is just a mess.... and I get it, there are just filthy individuals that utilize the facilities as if they're in the woods and there's just not enough anyone can do to keep up with the cleanliness of the entire facility. Other than those few issues, the facility is a great and the staff are mostly friendly and welcoming.I get in there and get out, I'm not a gym rat...just a guy who is focused on my mental and physical health and wants to do it in a environment that radiates positive vibes. So if are kind of like me, and just need a place tp improve, or maintain your health, check out PF and for a reasonably low membership fee, and some dedication to yourself, you can meet if not exceed your fitness goals. read more

I called on August 4th and spoke to AM Austin saying that I would hear from the manager in regard to the cancellation and refund of the last 5 months. I have not heard back, and every time I have called I have been told that the manager would not be back till the following day. read more

At least it is cool in here since it's not 100 out. The seats need to be replaced on some machines and the pads I may just switch over to 24hr. They steal from their customers. THEY STEAL FROM THEIR CUSTOMERS!! My wife and I joined last year, we finally terminated our contract yesterday. What do I mean by they steal from us? Well, we had our memberships set to automatically pay from our bank account, and we also had our debit cards on file. We noticed there were late charges on our account and couldn't figure our why, the bank account linked to our PF account always had sufficient funds, and PF is the one who automatically withdrew payment so how were we paying a late fee? $15 per account, that's another $30/month!!!! Yesterday when we were closing out our account at the gym the worker there informed us that when PF attempted to withdraw the money from our account it apparently couldn't and so instead used the debit card (for the same bank account) at which point processing took longer than normal and thus we were charged a late fee despite the charges being made on time....rediculous, so we are being charged a late fee due to an issue on Planet Fitness' end? DO. NOT. DO. BUSINESS. WITH. THIS. GYM!! THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU! UPDATE: We were wrong about being charge $30/month in late fees...IT'S $60/month ON SOME MONTHS!!! WE GOT CHARGED LATE FEES TWICE IN MAY! On May 1st they charged us $30 in late fees ($15/membership) then on May 15th AGAIN another $30! THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU! My Fitness Fave place to be for the ultimate daily workout! I have been a member here for a few years now, but have been much more active in the past year and it is truly paying off! The staff here are awesome! They represent PF's "No Judgement Zone" very well. I like the "Crowd Meter" on my app to determine my workout time. Since Covid, I notice members are more conscious about distancing on machines and in the workout stretch areas which I love! Members usually sanitize equipment before and after each use . Locker Rooms need more monitoring to deter break-ins and theft of personal property. Great place to get a good workout in. The staff are great. The place is always clean. They have a wide variety of workout machines and even the black card rooms too. The two biggest downsides is that the company doesn't do 24/7 anymore so your best luck is going Monday to Thursday if you want to workout at night, but Friday to Sunday you have to work early morning or afternoon since they close early. The other biggest downside is the "bars" the planet fitness app uses to gauge how many people are in the gym is incredibly inaccurate. It's 10 bars so I'm assuming it goes by 10% each bar. One time it was 3 bars, I assumed it would be 30% full in the gym, but when I got there all the gym equipment were full and got lucky to find 1 treadmill. Overall I recommend going here for a workout, but I wish the 24/7 was back and I do advise against checking the app and going off the bars to see if it's full or not. read more

Gym is very crowded thanks to the genius thinking of the owners of this establishment. High school kids are allowed to join the gym all summer free then they can join for a dollar per month. The issue is the kids are allowed to use the gym at all hours of the day. So essentially it has now become a local hangout. Good luck getting to use the benches and barbells since they are all consumed from the gangs of teenagers socializing. Not worth the headache in my opinion! Recommendation to the owners... Well the new manager there is very self-absorbed he doesn't listen to the concerns of the people he ignores it, as if he's not listening to my concerns. I'm speaking out loud to the other four employees at the front desk there are two sanitary stations that had no paper for us to sanitize the machines. We all have also seen him in a confrontation with a maintenance man which is very unprofessional there's a lot of bullying going on that has not been addressed the kids come in and have no respect for the elders did they forget they are servicing silver sneakers. Please do not join. It may seem really cheap but it's not worth it at all. Signing up has all kinds of hidden fees not advertised. The gym itself is extremely over crowded. The Ac is turned to low so its always super hot, even in the summer in tracy when its 100 degrees. The water cooler is WARM. YEs, they are to cheap to even get cold water!! The lines for most useful machines are 5-10 minutes long because they used 50% of the gym for tread mills vs real gym equipment. I wish I had never joined and just paid a gym $30 a month to avoid this bs scam. read more

The place is always packed or people hog up machines by placing their stuffs on them while being on their phones. There are no workout mats Also the annual fee policy is a SCAM. I signed up in Dec and canceled first week of Jan, they still collected the $39 annual fee in full instead of prorating it for the days I was an active member. Also, why do we have to cancel in person when signing up was done online easily? They are fast to collect money but not when it comes to cancelling. Recently moved here from the Bay Area and I was spoiled with three Planet Fitness locations in my old area to chose from. After moving to Tracy unfortunately there's only one for a population of 90k (not including Mountain House residents) so it's going to be suuuper busy no matter what time. Especially because there aren't many big gym chains like 24 Hour Fitness or City Sports in the area. Every time I've come in, the smith machines are always taken with people's personal bags strewn about. There's only 4 smith machines--which is pretty standard for PF, so can't really do anything about that. The music here is also really loud like other reviews stated. I personally don't care but I can see why others would. But the staff was friendly, location wasn't the biggest, but it was pretty clean. Fingers crossed that they open another location in Tracy soon. read more

Planet Fitness (PF) is one of the best gyms for the person who isn't sure what they are getting into but looking to make health and fitness changes! The Tracy PF is top notch! Pros: *Staff Hospitality - It only took a few visits before staff working the front desk would greet me by name (even while wearing a mask) and remember events I had going on! I am at the gym daily and if go at a different time, I have staff asking me how I have been and why they hadn't seen me. PF feels much more personal than most gyms I have been in. *Clean - I am constant seeing staff cleaning the gym and equipment. There are cleaning stations set up all over the gym and staff monitors both the spray and towels making sure both are well stocked. It is easily one of the cleaner gyms I have been in. *Equipment - While not the most advanced gym in terms of power lifting and unique equipment, that's not what PF goes for. PF has clean and well maintained equipment that is easy to use and there is a lot of it. For someone who is just trying to figure out there way around the gym, this is a great place to start. All the equipment comes with a QR code that can be scanned that shows you how to do exercise on that machine. *Hours - it's open 24 hours a day! Working nights? No problem! Working long day shifts? No problem! *Cost - For $10 a month you get access to a really nice gym! *Amenities - Not only does PF have gym equipment, it also has a Red Light recovery room, 2 tanning booths, hydro massage beds, and massage chairs for those who pay for the small extra monthly fee (Totally worth it!) Cons: *This is NOT a gym for someone who is looking for the latest and greatest equipment. You wont find super fancy machines here or dumbbells going up to 200lbs. read more

Every time I come to the gym the bathrooms are so dirty. Yesterday the men's bathroom had no hand soap I let the people in the front know and they did nothing about it. They just stayed using their cell phone. When I was leaving, I went to wash my hands and still no soap. read more
