I'm a long time fan of World Market. They've always got a great selection of furniture and home furnishings that are fun and unique. This is a very dangerous place. Not literally a dangerous place. You won't die there. Well, maybe if you get a shock after seeing your wallet. This place is dangerous for your wallet because there are way too many pretty things to buy! I've gone there twice now. On my first visit, I spent hours in there with my friend and neighbor. We were nearly there until closing time on a Sunday. We left with bags of food, alcohol, and with memberships that we signed up for with cashier Lucy's help. The second time I went, I mainly went to buy a gift card for the same friend and neighbor who accompanied me before as it was her birthday. I brought a companion, and well, we also wound up buying more food and alcohol. Admittedly this store has more than that, having furniture and what not, but the food and alcohol are what gets you. There is so much variety. You will find obscure products here, like Vegemite for the Aussies or more common stuff like different flavors of pocky for those loving Asian goodies. Heck, I found madeleines imported from France, which I repeatedly get told aren't dry like the American ones, and after having them, I must concur. You don't know what you're missing until you have it. That said, I'm shocked it took me so long to go to this place. A girlfriend of mine recommended this chain to me years ago, and well, I only recently went, and since then have been asking - where have you been all my life? If life were a video game, my interaction at this store gifted me my "can I speak to your manager" badge while dealing with the Ultimate Boss - The Emotionally Disturbed Employee. I've never encountered anyone that aggressively and unapologetically rude for no reason. First of all, I have bad hearing in one ear. It's been since childhood and I've learned to work around the buzzing and muffled sound. There was no one at the cash register when I walked up - no big deal, I was looking at all the little stuff at the front - and an employee walked up told to go to the middle register. The employee's back was to me so I went to where their face was pointed (they have aisles that have two cash registers facing different directions). When I did, they sharply told me to go to the correct location, which I did. No big deal. I then got a discourse and how I was wrong, so I simply said "I went to where you were pointed." They let me know they had not pointed, so I said where their face was pointed. The employee's kept on berating me for my error so I left my stuff at the counter and said I didn't need an argument, the reply of which was "I'm not arguing with you." I went to leave and was passively aggressively shouted at to "have a nice New Year" at which I turned around and called them out for being antagonistic. They said "what, I'm not allowed to wish you a Happy New Year?" and I asked for a manager. They said they'd call him and then asked why I was still in the store. I searched for the manager, found him, let him know what was going on, and left for good. I do not speak very often about having bad hearing because of the reasons why my hearing is bad - I am not deaf but have to focus in on the speaker and often depend on body language to understand what is being said. That being said, whether the employee knew I have an impairment or not is not an excuse to be that rude to someone who literally wants to purchase a few items and leave. read more

Came to this store on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't op packed which is great when you want to walk around and shop in peace . The staff was walking through making sure if we needed help, they were going to be readily available. Buy from Amazon. I bought a $500 futon on line, and its been over three weeks. If you call to complain to Pilot/Merske their shipping people, they will hang up on you. The Tallahassee store will also hang up on you. Now, I have missed 2.5 days worth of work because I live alone, and they want me to sign for this. Every time I call now, they immediately disconnect me. I was told it would be delivered the 14, 15 and 21! I took those days off so I could sign for it, and no show all three dates. I hope they go out of business soon, and a more reputable company takes over. SHAME ON YOU!!! read more

Great location! Tallahassee needs a place like this. Most people are deceived by this being home furnishings and goods, but they have a large selection of international foodstuffs from double salt licorice from Sweden to Tim tams from australia and even some great Norwegian spreads. Since Tallahassee doesn't have ikea this is a great go to store for some of those sought after international items. Great spot! read more

This is a fun place to stop by. They have an eclectic inventory with everything from furniture to sweets from around the world. They really set themselves apart with their customer service. They usually have free coffee or tea to sample, and do wine tastings every Saturday. Big shout out to Sam as well. I just want to say thank you to the Tuesday night staff for being so friendly and great. I'm so sorry I came in about 15 minutes until closing. After a long road trip some candy and snacks is definitely what I needed. All I wanted to do was relax and watch a movie at the hotel with snacks. World market is one of those stores that has something for everyone. It has the perfect snacks for movie nights or any occasion. It's always clean and beautiful in there. World Market has a great variety of home decor, kitchen items, beer, wine, and "exotic" food items. Whatever your regional preference, they've got something for you. If you're a tea drinker like I am, this is a great place to buy supplies - steepers, pots, travel tea diffusers, etc. They also have a great selection of loose leaf and bagged teas. The food section is also great if you have a recipe that calls for something not typically sold in U.S. grocery stores - dulce de leche, tres leches cake mix, different flavors of hazelnut spread, chorizo, weird British food items (you know, bland city), and so much more. The candy section is also impressive! They have almost every flavor of Haribo gummies, some fun Asian candy, and every type of chocolate that you could ever imagine. The beer section hosts local brews as well as international, but don't expect to find Miller and Bud - you'll have to go to the grocery stores for those, and I'm okay with that. In addition to food and beverage and their respective accessories, World Market is a wonderful place to get a gift. They have a good selection of greeting cards, gift wraps/bags/bows, and gifts for every age, gender, and style. Home interior. Lots of it. High prices? There is the rub in my opinion. World Market has a wide array housewares, furnishings and some international food item items. But the prices seem high for the quality of goods received. I have been looking for a coffee table, a couple of arm chairs and a small semi-round corner table. They carried them all but I did not make any big ticket purchases because I believe I can find them cheaper elsewhere. I did purchase some linen napkins that I have been looking for forever. Just had an experience with World Market in Tallahassee Florida which should be a "class" on how retail management should handle an unknown and appearingly unsolvable solution to a customer dilemma... In short, there was a particular bar stool I desperately need for a set of 4 that is discontinued & can be found nowhere! I was lucky enough to track one down in Tallahassee via a VERY helpful staff at the Panama City Beach store. Upon contacting the Tallahassee store I ran into huge bump in the road that appeared unsolvable. When purchasing from WorldMarket.com the company warehouse can ship to any branch near your zip. But if the furniture is already in store not to mention discontinued (my luck) there is no shipping mechanism for shipping it to a customer not to mention finding it in the first place... (Thanks again PCB staff!) Well there sadly appeared to be no solution to acquiring this single barstool, that was until I heard the calm professional voice of Tallahassee store manager JT, after reviewing all my options and realizing there was no obvious solution for a tenacious customer who appeared ready to shamelessly cry, moan & barter for a solution...(me!) JT, having mercy on my soul like any Great manager should "found a solution" to this customer's modern-day internet based corporate retail problem! Which could only be achieved by going above and beyond the typical corporate policy and procedure excuses. JT using his vast knowledge of regional and inter store shipping process recalled that his store jointly manages a shipping vehicle with the Panama City branch and without mentioning he had in effect discovered a solution to my unsolvable problem (in the dictionary next to the word humble is a picture of JT!) at no cost benefit of his time & Branch revenue he could and more importantly would transfer said Lone Wolf chair to the PCB inventory and make sure it gets on that regional shipping truck where I can then go in and pay for it and take it home! This is exactly the type of management problem solving and customer solutions that the entire corporate industry of retail should mandatorily teach & require for each and every manager they employ! Fortunately for me the type of person to teach such a course was on the other end of the phone in Tallahassee, thanks again JT for going the extra mile & showing me there are still people in corporate retail who care and understand about a customer's needs! read more

TERRIBLE experience! My bf and I walked in and grabbed a couple of items ($86 worth of soaps and candles) and we were literally being stalked by 2 staff members. We couldn't shop in peace because they kept "re-stocking" wherever we went. I hope a manager or someone in corporate reads this: if you're that afraid of people stealing or if this store has had that many incidents then hire a security and get some cameras! Stop harassing shoppers!!! I'm so disgusted that I even spent more than 1cent. First and LAST visit to store #6288 (in the Best Buy plaza) couldn't even be discreet with the shady stares. I am writing this review concerning David, in the Tallahassee, World Market. I am 69 years old and have rarely, if ever, had the customer service and kindness shown me by David. I was trying to locate some acrylic mugs that I found in my SC World Market. David, in Tallahassee, had just the number I needed. When he heard how much I wanted these mugs for a family reunion, he personally wrapped and boxed them and worked with my store in Sandhills, Columbia, SC, which was also very helpful, and Fed Ex to have them sent to my store for me to pick up there. These were clearance mugs and so there was no great sale for him. Just unbelievable customer service. It was so above and beyond what he would have been expected to do. I am so very grateful!! I didn't fully appreciate this store until I moved to western Pennyslvania, located far from World Market. Every time that I visit Florida, stopping by this store is at the top of my list of must-do things. Their kitchen department is my favorite part of the store, though they also have great furniture, home decor and accessories. I can't go to this store without spending money... I love world market and shop there more than I should. However, the tallahassee store's customer service could step it up a bit. Most of the sales associates act as if they don't want your business or your money. You usually have to walk around to find help and I find that they are almost always a little put out by having to help or find someone to help you. Unfortunately their products are still my favorite so I put up with their annoyed attitudes in order to keep shopping there. read more

This store is, hands down, the best place to shop for all home furnishings whether it is furniture, linens, food, bath stuff, kitchen equipment, etc. First of all, the store is very well arranged with great displays. Second, it is possible to purchase at very reasonable prices if you keep an eye out for the various sales. Third, the customer service is fantastic. Every single employee is helpful, friendly, patient and interested in making sure you find what you want and/or need. I think the management is outstanding because you don't have that kind of service unless management has its priorities straight, treats the employees courteously and trains them well. My last big purchase was a media cabinet. Hunter walked me through the purchase from beginning to end with enthusiasm, keeping in mind my personal needs and household space. She was genuinely interested and took time to listen. Melissa advised me of a sale price that I was not aware of at the time and when it looked as though the cabinet had a manufacturer's defect, they both were concerned and rebuildt another one pronto without making me feel like a bother. I really feel as though this store is a fun place to shop and I am relaxed when I walk in the door. I am comfortable with my purchases and most importantly to them, I like making purchases there! read more

Good products, terrible service. Was there on Thursday afternoon looking for a little metal and glass table I saw advertised. None on the floor so a young man was sent to see if any were in stock. I waited about 20 min and went looking for him -- he was chatting (not about mdse) with another customer and had not even gone to look for the table. Finally he did and a returned to tell me that they had it. I asked him to let me see it. He said it was in the box and would have to be put together. I said "so, don't you have to do that anyway to put one back on the floor - I'm not going to buy it sight unseen" He obviously did not want to do that. He returned to the stock room and I waited a while longer and finally left the store. If you're reading this World Market, you lost a potential $200+ sale - I was going to buy two of them if I could have seen it and liked it. read more
