All their proceeds go to rescuing dolphins and the dolphin hospital they are currently building in the Florida Keys. We did the "Connect to Protect" proves with my 7 year old and had an absolute blast. We got to interact with the dolphins, swim with them, give them kisses. Jaclyn was out group's guide and did an amazing job. She took a lot of time to talk about the on-site macaws with my son after. Highly recommend!

We got to watch two presentations with the keepers. Afterwards, they were doing a medical check on a particular dolphin that was having stomach upset. A nice man came along and told us "a keeper smarter than we will be along soon, but I can answer your questions for now. Oh, there's someone smarter than me now!" And he gestured to one of the summer interns. They both laughed. He told us all about each dolphin and their story. He told us about the hurricanes 10 years ago, and how the water rose far above the dolphin enclosures, offering them freedom, but none of them left. It was clear he really loved these animals. He walked away to assist the team working with the dolphin. The intern turns to us and says "that's the founder of this place. He's here every single day. He's the smartest of all of us!" She was great too. She said she's been dreaming of being a dolphin trainer since she was a kid. She was from Texas, but you could tell she was exactly where she was meant to be. First thing is that, yes, there's a big sign on the street to enter but, you feel like you're going the wrong direction after you have to navigate through a resort gate and drive-through what appears to be there maintenance area before arriving at the discovery center. The building itself looks newer and is very large and there's plenty of parking. Upon entering, we had no idea what to expect because we couldn't find the cost of admission anywhere so we had to ask and make the determination if we wanted to go. For $15 per adult and six dollars per student we decided why not. The museum itself is set out nicely with the first floor, including a history of the Florida indigenous people, and then the development of the keys. These are lots of computer screens with interactive items but, they need to be locked because we accidentally got to the desktop and saw we went this first with a variety of windows open, various search items and even Roblox and other games open that kids were playing. There is also a small aquarium section with three tanks. Upstairs there is a small art gallery and a theater that plays a rotation of historical movies. We saw one about state parks (1/5) and one about the overseas highway (4/5). So kind of hit and miss there. If you are a history or museum buff or really interested in the keys then this might be worth a stop but, would not recommend for a family with kids as they will get bored easily.

Today we are driving thru the area to grab a bite to eat trying to avoid the tourist traps.

Islamorada hosts a larger fishing fleet per square mile than anywhere else in the world. In addition to fishing, the Atlantic Ocean and Florida Bay offer a variety of activities from watersports to eco-tours. The four islands of Islamorada have numerous tranquil spots to relax under the sun. This area has history spanning more than 3,000 years so stop a few hours or a few days and explore this beautiful Key.

Booked the hotel very last minute for very much impromptu trip that we decided…read more The hotel is fairly nice and good. We arrived noon and check in was not until 4. Unfortunately due to sanitation protocol we could not check in to our room earlier but that was ok. I would rather wait for the room to be clean and sanitized than rush them. We were allowed to use all hotel amenities which was great and time just flew by. We used the kayaks and paddle boards. There was different activities for the kids and they stayed occupied and were not bored at all. One thing to note is that The hotel pool is very small and water was very murky. I did not let my kids get In because it did not look clean. Also, because the pool is super small, you can't stay socially distant from people. But the hotel been at the beach you don't need pool to be honest. Plenty activity to do at beach side. The room was nice, clean and fairly spacious. The bed was very comfortable but the pillows on the other hand were huge and felt uncomfortable. Overall, location of hotel is great. There is restaurants, Publix and CVS near it. Plenty things to see and do around.

I called back just to let Julianna know I'm taking my business elsewhere based on how her customer service was so poor on a simple phone call. How hard is it to treat people with kindness who want to spend their money in your property.

I'd never been to the Everglades before and an airboat tour seemed to be the thing so I bought the ticket and took the ride. I wouldn't mind going back to the Everglades but I don't think I'd take another airboat tour. It was an alright experience but a one and done for me. Our captain had his schtick down with jokes left and right, or is that port and starboard? They give you both written and verbal reminders that they appreciate tips so even with the steep $50 charge I handed him a fiver after. We saw a couple gators up close and they just jdgaf about tourists gawking at them or how very loud the airboats are. Those creatures are all about energy conservation mode when they're lazing about in the Florida sun. The boats are loud. Ours hit 116 db on the decibel meter on my phone. That's about 15 decibels louder than the loudest I measured at the Pistons/Magic game at the Kia Center and only one decibel short of the loudest it got at The Offspring concert at the Florida Strawberry Festival. They do provide foam earplugs at ESP but I've become inured to loud noise and/or sustained hearing damage from the many concerts I've gone to so I only wore them a lot while. Just like at Universal upstate (is upstate Florida a thing?) you get a preshow with your boat ride. You get to see gators and your host holds a baby gator and maybe a snake and maybe a bird or something? I can't remember... I've got so many vacation reviews I'm trying to keep straight and I was just ready for the boat tour. One obnoxious kid was pretty hilarious, taping our host with the creatures as close as he possibly could and following her around as she tried to give everyone a good look with him getting in the way no matter where she turned. Finally the kid's grandfather got him to stop crowding her. I couldn't believe how patient she had been up to that point. There's a short nature trail here as well but I thought I'd get that in somewhere else and hit the road once our airboat tour concluded.

First I got to wrestle well hold a gator ( baby ) for a photo and then I jumped onto a fan boat ride which is a high-speed, shallow-water boat cruising through mangroves and grass, perfect for spotting alligators and birds.... All I cared about was the gators but the need for speed was awesome. I felt very Miami Vice minus the music by Jan Hammer but damn it was fun flying around the swamp. This rating is not because of the facilities or the campground…read moreitself--it is entirely because of the way this situation was handled and the way my family was treated by the management. After nearly four years of visiting Jolly Roger RV Resort in Marathon and spending much of our summers there, I never imagined our experience would end this way. We truly loved this place. Our daughters grew up coming here, made great friends, and created wonderful memories. That is exactly why the way we were treated by the management was so disappointing. After the incident, our conversation regarding our permanent removal from the resort was handled directly by the park manager, Angie. Unfortunately, that conversation left us feeling unheard, unfairly judged, and with the impression that no consideration was given to our years as respectful, responsible guests. During the Fourth of July weekend, when the campground was extremely busy, several children were playing at the dock. As they had done during previous summers, some of them were jumping from the boat ramp into the water. I was the only parent present supervising the children who were with me. An employee came by and asked for the lot numbers of the families there. I was the only person who honestly and responsibly provided our lot number. The following day, I received a phone call from the park manager informing us that we had been permanently banned from the RV park. What hurt the most was not the decision itself, but the way the entire situation was handled. We were never given a meaningful opportunity to explain our side of the story, nor did anyone consider that, throughout all the years we had been coming here, we had never had a single complaint or incident. In addition, we were held responsible for situations that did not involve our family and that, from our perspective, were simply not true. It felt as though decisions were made based on assumptions rather than a fair evaluation of the facts or our long history as respectful guests. I was also surprised that there were no clear signs stating that children were not allowed to jump from that area. The posted signs referred to swimming at your own risk and under adult supervision, so we had no reason to believe that this behavior would result in a permanent ban. The saddest part was feeling as though we were treated like troublemakers or criminals when we have always been a respectful, responsible family that has taken care of both our children and the property. I can only speak about our own experience, but it ended with tremendous disappointment. More than the decision itself, it was the lack of empathy, respect, and willingness to listen that caused us to completely lose confidence in the management. We left heartbroken, especially for our daughters, who loved this place and were looking forward to spending the rest of the summer there. It is unfortunate that so many years of wonderful memories ended because of a situation that, in our opinion, could have been handled with communication, fairness, and basic respect. I sincerely hope the management reflects on how they treat families and handle situations like this. A great RV park is defined not only by its facilities, but also by the fairness, professionalism, and humanity with which it treats its guests.
