We had a really nice stay at Cheeca Lodge & Spa in Islamorada. The resort is beautiful, peaceful, and offers so many amenities that you do not really need to leave the property to have a great time. When we arrived, we were welcomed in the lobby with a glass of champagne, which was a lovely touch. I also liked that valet parking is included in the hotel fee. You can simply drop off your car keys, and the staff will park your car for you. Self-parking is also available if you prefer. One of my favorite areas was the fireplace in the front ocean-view area. At night, there was live music, making it a wonderful place to sit, relax, and enjoy the view. The resort has a lot to offer, including oceanfront family pools, an adult relaxation pool, a swimming beach with loungers, kayaks, paddle boards, fishing rods and reels, and a beautiful 525-foot fishing pier for catch-and-release fishing. There is also a 9 hole executive golf course, tennis courts, pickleball courts, sports courts, and beach cruiser bicycles. Families can enjoy the kids' game room and Camp Cheeca, which provide fun activities for children. Adults can relax at the full-service spa, fitness center, sunrise yoga classes, and water aerobics. The resort also offers Wi-Fi, concierge service, in-room coffee and tea, bottled water, EV charging stations, and shuttle service within 2 miles. Some areas of the resort could use a little restoration. For example, the jacuzzi next to the family pool looked like it needed some maintenance. We also noticed a slight seaweed smell near the beach, but this may be normal during the high season and can depend on the weather and ocean conditions. On our first day, we ate at Nikai, the resort's sushi restaurant. Guests can sit outside and enjoy the view, which I really liked. There is also indoor seating, but the restaurant is fairly small. We ordered the Salmon Aburi, Dragon Roll, and Matsuri Roll. The outdoor seating was definitely my favorite because we could enjoy our food and drinks while taking in the beautiful surroundings. Cheeca Lodge has several dining options besides sushi. Atlantic's Edge offers oceanfront dining with beautiful views and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Mia Cucina serves Italian style dishes in a relaxed setting. Tiki Bar and 25South are great places for drinks, snacks, and casual meals. Guests can also visit Morada Bay Beach Café for a relaxed beachside dining experience. Pierre's is another popular nearby restaurant, known for its elegant atmosphere and beautiful waterfront setting. At night, the front ocean view fireplace area with live music is a great place to enjoy a drink after dinner. The combination of the fire, ocean view, and music creates a very relaxing atmosphere. Having so many restaurants and dining choices nearby makes the resort very convenient. You can enjoy sushi, Italian food, casual drinks, beachside meals, or a more elegant dinner without traveling far. The resort has a beautiful Florida Keys atmosphere and offers plenty of activities for both adults and families. I especially liked having so many options in one place, including the beach, pools, water activities, fishing, golf, tennis, pickleball, spa, restaurants, live music, and our comfortable ocean-view room with a fireplace. It is a great place to relax, enjoy the water, dine, and have everything conveniently located at the resort. The champagne welcome, included valet parking, ocean views, fireplace, and live music were also nice extra touches. Although a few areas need a little restoration and there was a slight seaweed smell during the high season, these issues did not ruin our stay. Very disappointing stay -- save your money and stay somewhere else. This resort is extremely old, outdated, and poorly maintained. The carpets in the rooms were gross and visibly dirty, and the overall condition of the room was unacceptable. The AC in our room was broken, and we spent two nights sleeping in a room that was around 80°F. It was finally repaired on the third night. Unfortunately, the staff was not very helpful or responsive throughout the situation. The pool area was also unpleasant, with guests eating and drinking inside the pool. We stayed at Cheeca Lodge to celebrate our daughter's 7th birthday after having such a wonderful experience here last year. We were excited to come back, which made this stay even more disappointing. The first day, I found a dead cockroach in the corner of our room when I went to turn off the floor lamp. Living in South Florida, I know an occasional bug can happen, especially during the rainy season, so I didn't think much of it. The next morning, my wife saw a live cockroach in the bathroom. I killed it and, again, assumed it had simply found its way inside. That night, however, around 1:30 a.m., I got up to use the bathroom and found more than 20 small cockroaches crawling throughout the shower, with others on the bathtub, sink, and bathroom floor. My wife woke up and helped me kill as many as we could. After that, she was so uncomfortable and anxious that she couldn't go back to sleep, worried they would end up in the bed or inside our luggage. The next morning, I went straight to the front desk and spoke with Jessica. She was professional, helpful, and genuinely apologetic. She moved us to Room 207. We packed everything we owned and relocated. Our original reservation was for a suite with a separate bedroom and full kitchen, which we had specifically booked for the extra space and privacy. The replacement room was a standard hotel room with two queen beds. While it wasn't ideal, we understood it was only for one night and accepted it. Unfortunately, once we moved all of our belongings into that room, we discovered it had not been cleaned. There were used towels, garbage still in the trash can, furniture out of place, and even a bloody tissue left in the toilet that had not been flushed. I returned to the front desk and spoke with Jessica again. She immediately apologized and moved us to a third room. Once again, it was a standard oceanfront hotel room rather than the suite we had reserved, but at that point we simply wanted a clean place to stay. Jessica also assured us that management would contact us to discuss the situation and make things right. That never happened. Between dealing with the cockroach infestation, getting almost no sleep, and moving from room to room to room, we lost more than three hours of our vacation. Instead of enjoying our daughter's birthday, we spent the morning packing, unpacking, and worrying about whether insects had gotten into our belongings. What disappointed me the most wasn't just the bugs or even the dirty replacement room--it was the complete lack of follow-up from management. No one ever reached out, despite assuring us they would. Issues can happen at any property. What separates a luxury resort from an average hotel is how those issues are handled. Cheeca Lodge is marketed and priced as an upscale resort, and guests rightfully expect a higher standard of cleanliness, service, and customer care. Unfortunately, that standard was not met during our stay. Jessica deserves recognition for doing everything she could within her authority. She was courteous, empathetic, and tried her best to help. Sadly, the lack of response from management overshadowed her efforts. Upon checkout today I spoke with Jessica and she said that management should had reached out to me yesterday which they did not, and assured us that we would hear from them today which we never did again. We came back because we loved our stay last year. Sadly, this experience has made us seriously reconsider whether we'll return. ***After checkout I gave the hotel management an opportunity to reach out to me which they did not. Later that day I multiple reviews across different platforms and emailed multiple accounts ya listed on the resorts website. A few Hours later management finally reached out to me. I even asked for a manager to call me because of our multitude of issues while staying in an ocean view, very expensive room, and two days later I still have not received a call. They don't care. They didn't care to provide good service while we were there and they don't care now. A shame, after twenty years, a honeymoon and thirty stays, we won't be back. So disappointed. read more

We booked the one bedroom with a small kitchen as we were going here with our small child as we normally do. When we checked in our feet were black with in minutes. The floor looked like it hasn't been mopped in a long time. The Ac was reading 77/78 even though it was set for 72. The tv and the phone was not working. I called the front desk and was told a manager would contact me, never did. Had to go to the lobby and wait for a manager. He changed our room to a hotel room (no kitchen) in which he acted like he was doing us a favor. If we wanted to book that room(which we have in the past) without a child we would have done so. The one they offered didn't have a kitchen so we can't use our counter top high chair , cook food etc. The bathtub is outside in which a pigeon has made a nest in and there is bird poop inside the bathtub. I notified the front desk in which they don't seem to care. They got rid of the nest but the pigeon is still there and the poop. I have been coming here since I was young and man this place has turned sooo Ghetto. A employee mentioned to me that like people like myself expects Cheeca to be what it once was and it's not. No, I expect the AC to be working in July or any month for that matter. Reasonable clean place, basic things like tv and phone to be working. I don't think that is so much to ask. Hopefully the owners of Bass Pro will turn it around because it is evident the current owners/management had let this place go. read more

Wow! Wow! 1st night (Here for 3 nights) and all I can say is wow! Absolutely AWESOME property! From valet, checking in, bell services... the rooms are incredible! We are in 633 overlooking the lagoons which are so cool at night because they're all lit up with tiki torches-the pathways, the edges... just beautiful! We love the bed! Slept so good! Beautiful sitting area and a with a kitchen, full sized fridge, microwave, 2 electric stove tops, AND they have Illy coffee and espresso (our favorite) w/creamers!! There's 3 pools and the beach all right there! The beach/pool bar is great! The service, drinks and food are fantastic! They offer pickle ball and golf, bicycles and many other things-all included! My husband and I rented for a weekend escape. We were greeted by Cassandra, the manager. She provided us with exceptional service. Maureen helped us with reservations for one of their restaurants, Atlantic's Edge. The room had an ocean view and private beach access. The shower had a rain shower head and handheld option as well with all glass doors with a beautiful view. You are greeted in the lobby with the option of champagne. Every detail on this property was carefully thought out. The beds were soft and perfect for a great night sleep. We ordered the catch of the day which was main lobster. This dish was absolutely heavenly. There was a crabcake type of topping baked on the lobster. The rolls, whipped mashed potatoes and brownie for dessert were all impressive. The resort gives you that feeling that you can relax and unwind with a breathtaking backdrop. We will definitely be returning soon. read more

Was greeted by a very friendly woman. She gave a card to contact her in case anything was needed during our stay. Her name was Tyanna. She was informative, funny, and upbeat. It was pouring when upon arrival so that was unfortunate. Was offered umbrellas and a ride to our hotel room. Cancelled the original dinner plans (it was an outdoor venue) and ate at the hotel restaurant. Honestly, worst steak I've had in my life and it was around $70. Could hard tear a piece off with a fork and it was ordered medium. It was terrible. But the hotel itsself, was great. They have plenty to do there included in your stay. They have a lot of chairs, paddle boards, kayaks, stuff for little kids to do. The water is very shallow (just be careful for sting rays & jelly fish, but the water is clear so you can see them). I would suggest walking around the entire property- there were things we didn't realize were there! I recommend staying in a Bungalow. You have a somewhat private beach right in front of them with direct access to all of the water sports. The view is very nice too, with stairs from your room that land right on the sand. The rooms are older than we are used to, but they're not bad at all. Updating wouldn't hurt, but you really spend most of your stay outdoors! They have a dock with access to boat tours. I'd suggest looking around at other tours, not just the ones the hotel suggest. After speaking to guests and a personal experience, if I went back, I would have gotten other recommendations first. Also, very close distance (and the hotel will shuttle you there) was Chef Michael's. It was good food and took reservations! Save room for a dessert. read more

The location is beautiful, with great pools and excellent restaurants nearby. Overall, it's a relaxing spot to enjoy the Keys. That said, the rooms could use some updating, especially when it comes to technology. The TVs, internet, and cable feel very outdated. There's no option to mirror your phone to the TV, and even the basic channel guide doesn't work--you have to tune into a single channel that scrolls programming like it's still the 1980s. Another improvement would be for EV drivers. The hotel has four car chargers, but during my stay two of them were out of service, making it difficult to rely on them. With a few modern upgrades, this property could truly match the level of its setting and amenities. read more

This was our third trip to Islamorada, the first time staying at this resort. Overall, Cheeca is a solid 3.5-star resort with the potential to go higher. We felt that the biggest thing holding this place back from a higher rating is the dark and outdated rooms and, in our opinion, the room(800 building) we stayed in just needed brighter colors and some recessed lighting. One plus is that the patio was screened in. What we liked most about this resort is that there are plenty of amenities on the grounds, such as fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, tennis, basketball, pickleball, three pools, game room for the kids, two hot tubs, bicycles and more. The staff was friendly even though I did text the number at the front desk three times during our seven day stay, and they only got back to me once. The restaurants on the grounds are ok nothing special, but the food by the pool was good for what it was and a decent price. One weird thing is the cemetery on the grounds, but we'll stay here again. Safes and robes in the rooms. Plenty of water stations throughout the grounds. read more

We had the most amazing time at Cheeca Lodge! Upon arrival, we were checked right into our oceanside room in the main building. The lobby was super crowded because it was raining and the wedding for that Saturday was congregating all around trying to figure out if they'd be able to wait out the rain or get a new space. But even the extra busy atmosphere didn't dampen our check-in experience. We took our delicious and chilled glasses of champagne up to our room and started vacation. The 2-queen bed room was incredibly spacious, with beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. The bathroom was especially huge, with double sinks, double closets and a glass shower that overlooked the ocean and led onto the lanai where there was also a cool soaking tub. We had a small mini fridge and wet bar, and ice was just a few doors down the hallway. There are three pools...two in one area designated for families and all guests. Those pools had great natural shade and a very tropical feel. Poolside drinks from the tiki bars were very expensive, but on par with other resort hotels in the area. The adult pool was much quieter and some of our party did enjoy the water exercise class that happens a few mornings each week at that pool. We didn't have any spa services but did explore the spa. And the fitness center was top notch. We took advantage of most of the on-site restaurants, and especially loved the breakfast at Atlantic's Edge. Of note, reservations are recommended for Nikai even off season. We also played pickleball and took advantage of one of the aquasports that leave right from the Cheeca Lodge pier...incredibly convenient! There were also all sorts of kayaks, paddleboards, floats, bikes, ping pong sets, etc. Lots to keep you busy! Our absolute favorite part of of the hotel was the shuttle that will take you anywhere within 2 miles north or south...so we were able to park the car and just use the shuttle to get to some of the sister restaurants (The Beach Cafe and Pierre's...both highly recommended), some local shopping, to the local breweries, and to the Green Turtle Cafe and Islamorada Fish Company. All the service was outstanding, from the valet and shuttle to the concierge to the restaurant/bar staff. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and on top of their jobs. First of all bring alcohol if you like to drink. Not one restaurants or bars we went to had good drinks. We hit alot of top restaurants and bars in islamorada. Now to Cheeca. The pier fishing is so much fun. It says they have free fishing gear which they do. It's very limited and on a timer 2 hours. Do yourself a favor and buy cheep collapsible poles from Amazon and bring them with you. If you like fishing it will make a world of difference in your experience. They do have free bait (shrimp) and it works amazing for the small fish needlefish etc. Use some of the small fish as bait to catch bigger fish not needlefish. Google if it is legal first but amazing catches to make your trip more memorable and so exciting. We fished every night on the dock sometimes during the day. The room we had was nice but the parking was pretty tight and small. Housekeeping was great on top of it. The beach looks amazing in the picture but smelled bad and you can't actually get in the water from the beach. Oh and yes there are sharks and puffer fish. Remember we were fishing. Another thing is the pool hours were not great only open until sunset. We were so burnt from our first adventure at robbies marina(highly recommended worth the burn) that daytime swimming was not happening. We went in June and the weather was great. Nighttime swimming and more night life at this Lodge would have easily made this review 5 stars. Honestly hog heaven was ok Nightlife but don't expect a decent drink. To me Cheeca could easily outdo them. Don't get me wrong we had a good time but not the $8000 good time that we spent. read more

This was a new resort for us and we were both presently impressed overall. We stayed two nights to celebrate our 7th year anniversary. They offer self parking or valet with concierge services for bags. Check in was super smooth, we were greeted with water and champagne. "Keys" are wristbands which can be used to open all doors, room charges and access. The resort itself has tons to offer: 3 pools (one adults only area), 2 hot tubs, three onsite restaurants and two "partnered" restaurants, free shuttle service within 2 mile radius, dock/pier for fishing/boating, water sport activities (paddle boards, kayaks, water trampolines, fishing rods, onsite "par 3" course, free beach cruiser bikes which can be taken off property, beach with cabana and loungers, boat parking, towel service, tennis and pickle ball courts, spa & fitness center, free bottled water and kids club. Honestly, I can't imagine what else you could ask for. We tried 2 of the five restaurants (Morada Bay & Atlantic Edge) both were incredible! Other 3 included sushi (dinner or take out), Italian and an upscale French spot. Definitely resort prices, especially on the beverages. $16 for poolside mojitos. The par 3 golf course was a little bit of a surprise. If you are any kind of golfer you'll quickly realize this is not a real course. Do NOT waste your time bringing your own golf gear. Holes range from 40-78 yards. We played barefoot with cocktails and a 7 iron. Definitely no tee time requirement. Walk up and grab an iron from tee box 1. Beach has lots of room for lounging. On the south side, they have the water sport options as well as sandbox toys. We stayed in the lagoon view room which saved a good chunk of change compared to the ocean view room options. We were within 100 yards of the beach so worth the money save. Very clean, fridge, bed was very comfortable. They have a lot of room options throughout the property even "casitas" in a private area of the resort for larger groups. The staff were all very friendly and eager to provide service. It's not a cheap spot but for the amenities, service and rooms I think it's worth it. In the heart of islamorada, you have great access to a number of locally owned establishments. It has been 10 years since we last vacationed at Cheeca Lodge. It was almost exactly the same as last time, which is great since it was a fun and relaxing place. We like that Cheeca is not uptight or snooty even though it is very expensive. The high cost is the only downside. The pier is great for the kids for fishing. I love that most of the activities and amenities like Standup Paddling, kayaking, beach chairs, bikes, towels, etc are included. It is a bit extra to take out a catamaran or jet skis. The restaurant is great! Fresh fish is so good. I can't wait to go back. Hopefully it won't be 10 years! read more

Spectacular presence! But you come to Yelp to hear the authentic experience, right? Booked a double queen, golf course view room. Was told at check in we were being upgraded to a larger room with a pull out bed and a resort view. Room did not have a pull out bed and had a view of the outside perimeter street. Their version of upgrade is because it had a tub and a shower--- two adults and a 16 year old-- does it sound like an upgrade to us would be a bathtub? Service industry means KNOW YOUR CUSTOMER -- that was a huge set back and the view of the perimeter street/road was a big disappointment. Shower shampoo bottles have been re-used so much the name on the bottles are almost rubbed off. Toilet seat left screw broken, almost slid off when using toilet. FOOD: Breakfast is good, not great for a high end hotel. Avocado toast was good. Small portion. Consider offering more options. Day time serving staff lacks personality and authentic interest in waiting tables/customers--being personable-- it's not for everyone. Good at poolside is good and a variety of options. Mia Cucina- skip it. It's like a food court version of Italian food. Ordered fried calamari, and the specials: mushroom & ricotta ravioli, scallops with risotto-- all three were disappointing lacking flavor and freshness. Pizza was good. Evening service/wait staff is much more suited for this field than the morning ones. Atlantic Edge- Amy/Ale was really personable and friendly knew guests by name. Tyler our server was knowledgeable and great personality. There were a few others that were not our servers that we got to speak with and were so friendly and engaging-- all evening staff. Dinner was sub-par. The ribeye, in a barbecue sauce was bad pairing and not worth the price. The grilled fish was good, not great. (Reminder, you're in the Florida keys-- it should be memorable)The lobster Mac n cheese was very good and do recommend. The grounds keepers/ golf cart drivers were all wonderful, very polite and friendly. The housekeeping staff was also very nice, the main building is spotless! Such a nice space and always so clean and beautiful. The evening torches light up the outdoor spaces so beautifully! Kamren/Karem- from the front desk was wonderful as well. Cheeca Lodge is a spectacular resort-- I would recommend staying here for its gorgeous views, music in the evening under the sky, paddle boarding, or kayaking (all included). Definitely say pass on eating here except maybe at poolside or a quick bagel sandwich at the bar in the morning. There are great places to eat in the keys that offer a better experience. This hotel could be a four star or even a five but in every way it was just a tick or more off. Check in delayed bc they only had 1of 2 room rez, had to sit for an hour while they figured it out. Monitors in front of front desk staff so guests had to stand to talk to them. Hotel dirty in corners from elevator to shower. Three on their phones at ck in desk for dinner yet we had to wait to be seated bc the tables were not cleared. The entire staff needs Hospitality training. All the free stuff for beach is nice. Property landscape beautiful. Bridge pool and lagoon dirty water and debris. Bathroom light out. I could keep going. read more

Truly awful experience here. We were excited to spend presidents day weekend here and left extremely disappointed. The service is awful, rooms are outdated, and the hotel does not care about their guests experience. Everything is overpriced for the quality you receive. We had a couple next to us violently fighting all night long the first night and the hotel did nothing to alleviate the situation for us. After deciding to stay the next night when the hotel said they would make sure it would not happen again, the couple did the same thing, fighting in the middle of the night on our second night. Our stay was completely ruined and Cheeca management and customer service has done nothing to fix this. Do not stay here. read more
