If I could give zero stars, I would. This rating is not because of the facilities or the campground itself--it is entirely because of the way this situation was handled and the way my family was treated by the management. After nearly four years of visiting Jolly Roger RV Resort in Marathon and spending much of our summers there, I never imagined our experience would end this way. We truly loved this place. Our daughters grew up coming here, made great friends, and created wonderful memories. That is exactly why the way we were treated by the management was so disappointing. After the incident, our conversation regarding our permanent removal from the resort was handled directly by the park manager, Angie. Unfortunately, that conversation left us feeling unheard, unfairly judged, and with the impression that no consideration was given to our years as respectful, responsible guests. During the Fourth of July weekend, when the campground was extremely busy, several children were playing at the dock. As they had done during previous summers, some of them were jumping from the boat ramp into the water. I was the only parent present supervising the children who were with me. An employee came by and asked for the lot numbers of the families there. I was the only person who honestly and responsibly provided our lot number. The following day, I received a phone call from the park manager informing us that we had been permanently banned from the RV park. What hurt the most was not the decision itself, but the way the entire situation was handled. We were never given a meaningful opportunity to explain our side of the story, nor did anyone consider that, throughout all the years we had been coming here, we had never had a single complaint or incident. In addition, we were held responsible for situations that did not involve our family and that, from our perspective, were simply not true. It felt as though decisions were made based on assumptions rather than a fair evaluation of the facts or our long history as respectful guests. I was also surprised that there were no clear signs stating that children were not allowed to jump from that area. The posted signs referred to swimming at your own risk and under adult supervision, so we had no reason to believe that this behavior would result in a permanent ban. The saddest part was feeling as though we were treated like troublemakers or criminals when we have always been a respectful, responsible family that has taken care of both our children and the property. I can only speak about our own experience, but it ended with tremendous disappointment. More than the decision itself, it was the lack of empathy, respect, and willingness to listen that caused us to completely lose confidence in the management. We left heartbroken, especially for our daughters, who loved this place and were looking forward to spending the rest of the summer there. It is unfortunate that so many years of wonderful memories ended because of a situation that, in our opinion, could have been handled with communication, fairness, and basic respect. I sincerely hope the management reflects on how they treat families and handle situations like this. A great RV park is defined not only by its facilities, but also by the fairness, professionalism, and humanity with which it treats its guests. read more

The manager canceled my reservation when I was telling her what I was told when I made my reservation. She was loud rude and refused to let me tell her what I was told when I made my reservation. Additionally, when I told her you won't let me tell you what I was told she said your reservation is canceled and hung up on me. I immediately received an email saying my reservation was cancelled. I think she did it purposely because my rate was $80.00 per day as I booked months in advance and they now charge $138.00 per night. I have stayed at a lot of rv parks and this was the worst experience I ever had with a staff member! I would avoid this RV park for sure! Beware of Jolly Roger's! read more

This is a family friendly and dog friendly campsite. We enjoyed the amenities which consisted of the pool, beach, sunset watch, shallow snorkeling and swimming area along with walk to the dog park for our pup. Comfortable and quiet. read more

We had the opportunity to get an ocean front spot here at Jolly Roger. I would highly recommend booking in advance because these are by far the best spots in the campground. The spots have a nice concrete pad and new picnic table. There's a concrete wall that can be used as a bench to watch the waves, although the other side of it is a public sidewalk. The "beach" area is very nice and many campers gather there to watch sunset. Boat ramp was great for kayaks and the swimming area had decent snorkeling. This is a must stay when you are in the area! This was our first visit here and we will definitely be back next year! The sites are beautiful and well kept. Boat slips are easily accessible. We drove our Class C pulling our boat. When we arrived, without even asking, the staff told us to unhook the boat and they would put it in the water for us while we set up at our site. That was unexpected but greatly appreciated. Our site was right on the water near a roped off swimming area. We ran into a little rv trouble which cut our trip short. (Converter went out = no a/c). We had to pack up a day early and head home. The staff was super understanding and refunded us our last night's fee. We did not expect that either but again very appreciative! The staff backed our trailer in the water and helped load the boat with ease. They parked it in an area easy to hook up to with the rv for our departure. We spent just under a week here. Very nice campground. Regular spots are very tight. Tons of Boats and boat trailers are in empty spots. No issues once got in and set up in our spot. Busy on weekends and tons of kids and family out. Pool was nice but little small and crowded at times. Amazing views from the beach especially at sunset. Staff were friendly and helpful. I have no idea how this place has decent reviews! I would stay anywhere but this place. The staff and long term guests will watch every move you make. Make a wrong one- the crazy manager lady will fly up on you on a golf cart like she's a cop, tries talking to you like one as well. We were loading some items in our vehicle for the state park- my yorkie was literally sitting next to the fire pit (unleashed) for about 3 minutes- she flew up and said we'd be asked to leave if we broke "another park rule." The swimming area is terrible and full of jelly fish, the people hate kids at the pool or anywhere else, very cliquey. No thanks. Stay anywhere but here! read more

Would not recommend this park to anyone . My kids go to the this camp with their grandparents and I went to go pick them up and was banned for not being on the visitor list . We love this RV and camp resort. Its mostly RV dream but they have some spot for tent and its great! Super clean ( if some stupid dirty people will not make mess in bathrooms ) they r really clean. This is by far THE BEST campground in the entire Keys. I love everything about this place. From the staff all so friendly, to the dog bark park, yes its very pet friendly which is a huge plus, to the sites that are all so clean, neat and spacious. They have a seawall area which you have to book in advance but its so convenient because you are right next to the ocean and you get to see the most amazing beautiful sunsets. The swimming area is wonderful to snorkel, so many fish to see. They have a huge pier that you can park your boat or jetski and you can also fish from there. It has a huge gorgeous pavillion and the lighting at night is spectacular. I try going twice a year to Jolly Rogers. I always have such a great relaxing time. I highly recommend this campground to anyone. you wont be dissapointed. read more

There is a great pool, waterfront sitting area where you can enjoy reading a book ,having a glass of wine, snorkeling, swimming , or just relaxing in the shaded or sunny areas that have just been beautifully landscaped.They also have a dock & boat ramp. Park has potluck dinners, free hotdog days , Ice Cream socials. This is by far my favorite camping place in the Florida Keys I give it a A+++ . What makes it a great place to camp? We stayed here for 3 nights, getting the last site in the middle of the resort at almost the last minute. It is right on the Gulf, but not all sites are of course. There's a communal area with a covered space for watching sunsets, gathering at night, having a picnic....It seems that many of the RVers are long-term people, spending an extended time as snowbirds. There's an activity calendar and one of the nights they had music in the covered pavilion, ending promptly at 10 pm. I enjoyed sitting outside and listening to all the "oldies." Pool exercise time every morning too. Each site has plenty of room, despite that the resort looks cramped at first sight. The grounds are kept tidy and pretty. People were friendly, check-in was a breeze. It has a modern, very clean bathhouse. It was very chilly and windy while we were there and the bathrooms were toasty warm. Jolly Roger is located right near the Dolphin Research Center and close to the Turtle Hospital, both very interesting places to visit. It's about 45 min. from Theater of the Sea, also a good destination. And it's an hour from Key West. A fair amount of restaurants are within a half hour each way. We had a great experience with our kayaks, we even caught a nice size octopus which I grilled on the campground, that was our highlight and nothing like sleeping under a gorgeous star night sky. read more

We really enjoyed our stay here! We were in Marathon for an RV rally in mid-October 2017. The resort had just completed a LOT of hurricane clean-up work after the Keys had been devastated. While they continued to work here and there in the resort while we held our event, for having just been devastated by the hurricane, the place was in real good condition. My wife and I stayed in one of their efficiency units, upstairs. The space and amenities provided was very adequate for our stay. It was nice to be able to cook breakfast in our unit too and not have to go our for every meal. Our RV rally was a lot of fun as well. We'd like to come back with our RV in the future. read more

Great campground on grassy key, marathon fl. The campground host was super sweet and helpful. We camped close to the dog park and so our dog was happy. Everything was clean and in order. You have a beautiful view of the ocean and only an hour and 20 minutes from Key West. We will definitely be back! The only thing I would complain about is the cost of the onsite laundry. $4 for washing machine and a couple bucks to dry. It adds up quickly. read more

Great little campground on the water. We stayed for a week and landed a spot right on the boat ramp (which was awesome). Decent fishing from the piers, snorkeling area was nice for the kids since it was shallow. Our only complaint is that although it's "pet friendly", it's really not. Our lab was welcomed after paying the premium but you can't walk them in any grass except the dog park (they are strict about it). And in the summer, that asphalt gets HOT. Not to mention, the dog park is all the way to the far side of the park, so it was a long, painful walk for our 11 yr old lab a few times a day. If we go back, we wont bring him. read more

A welcoming place in The Keys! We lost our state park reservations but this pleasant campground has both tent and RV camping. Amenities include a clean pool (small,land pool hours are office hours only, so it's very busy during school holidays) a beautiful sea wall with boardwalk, fishing pier, large ocean front shelter for group activities and much more! The office staff is personable and helpful. They arranged for my elderly father to be near us and still be close to the bathroom. Our Airstream is very happy here. Spaces are large! We arrived needing our refrigerator replaced. We inquired at the office about a service technician and they told us about Bill who has a shop on the premises! Bill responded quickly on a Sunday morning and even brought us his loaner deep freeze and refrigerator! Wonderful service! The kayaking here is great. About two miles south there is an estuary system beside the highway. We will be here for a month and I'm looking forward to making updates as we go along. Make sure to check the schedule posted at the office for events. We missed a couple of fun parties at the big pavilion by the marina. It would be great if notifications could be sent via Twitter. We had a nice stay here this Nov, was a little concerned things wouldn't be in good shape after the hurricane, but they have been working hard fixing up the park and it was in good shape. The rest of the middle keys need more time to get back to normal. The pool was nice and we had sea wall site and the views were great. Only complaint was the no-see-um bugs bites. My wife ended up going to first care when we got back mainland Florida cause they didn't go away. But overall good time here. read more

Don't bother. This place is full of employees that don't care! The people next to our rv are taking baby lobster out of the canal so we complained, the park host came to our rv and said it's not our place to say anything! The people next door have a aggressive pit bull and the office has no regard! This place is not cheap either! I really expected more. .they told us with covid we are only allowed four people in our rv, I spent 1,200 dollars putting my kids in a hotel to find out later that it's six people per rv! If I could give this place six stars I would! We just stayed 8 nights in our RV in spot 160 in June 2015, and we had family stay in the efficiency apartments during that time. The RV spot was perfect, level, and had the most incredible view. The bathrooms were clean and modern. All of the locals come here, and they normally know where the best places are. There were about ten people who were setup full time, but nothing obnoxious. The chilled swimming pool was salt water and perfect. Th laundry facilities were nice as well. The apartments were clean and recently renovated, and an incredible value for the price. The two bedroom was MUCH nicer than the one bedroom, but the one bedroom wasn't bad. All of the family staying in the apartments were incredibly happy with the price and room quality. The staff at this park were the nicest people in a RV park that I have dealt with in three years of RVing all over the United States! They bent every possible way to make our stay enjoyable. We had people coming from all over the U.S.- late checkins were okay, late checkout was okay, one family member had to leave a day early (which she wasn't charged for!) and we had a parking snafu which the staff handled with the greatest finesse and respect. Water hook up was leaking, we called office and they fixed in less than an hour. one complaint is the sites are close together but I do t know if you can find a campground where there not! We like the pool a lot. Plenty of cameras on the property. You can watch the cameras on channel 42 on TV. They take Passport America! We would come back! read more

I've been tent camping at the Jolly Roger for years. I try to get down there at least once a year with my son and daughter. They have a little peninsula with about 5 tent sites and the views of the sunset are just amazing. Staff has always been friendly. Location is awesome. It's just a great little RV park. Kids use the pool quite a bit. The little dock they have for fishing is awesome and at night we wander around the RV's just talking to people. They have a great pavilion that we play cards at and it's awesome. Can't say enough great things about their little tent island! read more

Update, we stayed at the Jolly Roger again and by coincidence it happened to be during the Marathon Key Seafood Festival. I would have missed it if the front desk didn't let us know (it was pretty awesome). We had another great stay. As to the latest 1 star reviews that I just read, I can only assume they were being loud and partying. I don't know how you have to act for the management to threaten to call the Sheriffs. It's not a party campground, it's for relaxing. As for kids, I have a 5 and 7 year old and they rode their bikes around the whole campground for hours with no issues. read more

We are traving the country in an rv this year. We really loved staying at this rv park! It was fantastic! Showers were decent, hookups easy. There were a lot lot lot of ants! Excellent RV park, layout, location, facilities. Cooled Salt water Pool - much needed in the heat of summer. Directly on the ocean! Very clean. Wanted somewhere close to Key West without the price gouging of key west. Tip, Rented car from Enterprise for around $37.00 a day, full AC, room to pack supplies, drive to key west, enjoyed the day and returned to an awesome home cooked steak from Winn Dixie. As compared to 4x the cost for the RV space, $200-$250 to rent an electric transportation. And here I have the most awesome sun set!!!! Note: DJ Claim Shack is a real beach town dinner, complete winner. Closet here Winn Dixie, Walgreens, Enterprise, Kmart, Publix, Home Depot, Wells Fargo - ONLY ATM, multitude of great restaurants. read more
