As I stroll up to the World's Fair Pavilion in ForestPark, just one of my routines before another memorable show at TheMuny! There's just something about those luscious lavender blooms that keep me returning. I mean, who knew a Victorian-era bandstand would be my weekly hit of natural scent in the summer? This spot was built for the 1904 World's Fair and it's still as beautiful as ever! I recommend going prior to a Muny show or it's a nice digestive walk after eating at the Boathouse. read more

Ive been to many events at this large pavilion in Forest Park. Most recently, Veg Fest. Electricity for live music and/or speaker. Clean, maintained public restrooms. Plenty of spaces outside of pavilion for tents, vendors, etc. Parking throughout the park. Beautiful view over the park and fountain. Love this place! read more

All of us in St. Louis know how much of a gem Forest Park is, and when out of towners come in, they see it too. The Pavilion is a wonderful setting for weddings, receptions, or whatever you want. It is a large open space that is easily transformed into what you need. Today it was where cooking demos and other speakers performed for the STL VegFest. It was nice to have a shaded area and chairs to enjoy whatever meal you purchased at one of the great plant based vendors. Love this pavilion because it's more than that - it's a place to sit, run, host events, exercise, and even play at the fountain. There are so lots of workout groups you can join who meet up here and utilize the large area, steps and inclines. it's also a very pretty view of the park. It's cool knowing it's a historical landmark, too! read more

It is just a pavilion right? Only over 100 years old that represents the apex of St. Louis. OK I was last here in 1970 when I was filming a documentary for some course when I was at SLU. I still have the 8mm film somewhere in the house. It may be cool in another 50 years or so. This used to be the place to hang out hippie style and see and been seen whatever you were going to see in your altered state. Me I was just filming. Really. I was here in Sept. of 2012 for a wedding and reception. They had the ceremony at the foot of the steps overlooking the fountain and the grand basin. What a beautiful setting and the pictures are going to be great. After the ceremony we moved into the Pavilion for the reception. My eyes looking at the St. Louis icon and thinking what it looked like during the 1904 Word's Fair. All the people in their fine turn of the century clothes. Then my mind wandered to back to the '70's and my youth and how I was young once and thought I maybe become some type of film maker and this was a wonderful backdrop. Move forward to 9/29/2012 and I am now here to see one of The Famous Chip K's longest and best friends get married. They have known each other for 25 years since first grade. The Pasta House catered the event. Wow were they good. Pasta house food with outstanding service. Ahh the trip down memory lane. This cool, historic piece of Forest Park has one of the best chillspots in St. Louis. The pavilion is used for weddings, yoga and other events and the grounds have usually hosted events during the year. One thing I'd like to see is more concerts happening like the old days. Fun fact: did you know that Janis Joplin once performed a free concert here?! I was here for the World's Fare festival in 2016 and 2017. The pavilion as well as the hill showcased many artists and there were food trucks and entertainment. Other than that, I haven't been to any other events. During the day, you'll find a lot of visitors or just people chilling with their friends and family - mostly near the fountain. Inside the pavilion, there are a couple historic markers. There's even public restrooms since there are not that many found in the park. The World's Fair Pavilion was built five years after the 1904 World's Fair, with the proceeds that were raised from the fair. In 1998, Forest Park Forever spent over a million dollars revamping it, and it has paid off. read more

This place is a wonderful place to host outdoor sun rise yoga. It has a working restroom, easy parking, and a wonderful view of Forest Park. During our yoga class the mayor of the park stopped by for a visit and to welcome us to the park. This was a free yoga event, but it was such a great place for yoga. read more

There are a number of places in Forest Park that have their own businesses and Yelp pages. I see some nice reviews here for the Pavilion, but I also see lots of "so, it's a pavilion" type comments. What is this place? It's a pavilion, but not the small park kind with picnic tables and a grill to the side. It's a large, open building. It's over 100 years old, and it's named the "World's Fair Pavilion" because it was purchased for the people of St. Louis with proceeds from the Fair. The park was full of various attractions in the months during the Fair, but after the Fair was over, people went to the park and couldn't find a place to buy refreshments and concessions. Anyone spending a few hours in the park is going to get hungry and thirsty, so there must have been quite a demand for a solution to this dilemma. Enter the World's Fair Pavilion. People also used to go dancing at the Pavilion, and I'm sure it was used for other purposes. Now it's used more often for weddings and festivals - a few years ago, I first went to the Pavilion for the African Festival - but it's worth checking out. You can read the detailed history of the Pavilion, complete with photos, along one wall. It's got a spectacular view of the park. Down the hill is a beautiful fountain. I recommend stopping by on your next trip to Forest Park, but bring your own eats or do so ahead of time: I've yet to see concessions sold here. read more

What a great, not busy spot in the Park! Great views and a good breeze (usually). It was built after the Fair as a cooling and concessions spot. I love what they've done with all the new landscaping over the past several years. There is a good historical storyboard to kill some time out of the hot sun. There are also security cameras near the restrooms for a bit of peace-of-mind. It's very easy to get to and there is adequate parking close by. read more

The World's Fair Pavilion is one of the many destinations you have to visit when making your way through Forest Park. It has intricate landscaping in the front and has a beautiful vista if you make your way to the top. It's not quite as scenic as Art Hill but it's still worth the trip. I stop by every time I walk in Forest Park and have time to meander. It's central to everything cool: The Muny, Art Hill, The Zoo. And yes, it was built during the World's Fair. I'd pretend to insert interesting historical info into this review but I don't have any. They do weddings, Yoga, and other community events here but I rarely ever see it occupied. Prepare for a couple flight of stairs unless you're driving up on the other side. Hope you enjoy this little piece of St. Louis history! read more

The World's Fair Pavilion is a great little structure located in Forest Park. Built in 1909, the pavilion offers some amazing views of the park and is commonly used for special events, picnics and receptions. I've attended a few events here, including the Cajun Cook-off and an African Arts Festival, but I usually just come to chill out and relax on a beautiful day. The pavilion sits atop a beautifully landscaped hill with terraced waterfalls which are perfect for kids and adults on a hot summer day. Yet another great treasure in Forest Park! read more

I absolutely love this historical landmark right in the middle of Forest Park. What gets me is that it was built after the World's Fair even happened, and yet the pavilion holds the namesake of the historic fair that took place in 1904. It's a beautiful landmark. Many events take place here from weddings to high profile business events. The pavilion is free to the public for visiting and you can get some great photos from the pavilion overlooking the large hill with the fountains and a view of the lake and boat house. My suggestion - bring a picnic basket and a bottle of wine for a relaxing romantic meal at dusk. read more

Alrighty, where do I begin... My boyfriend and I frequent Forest Park. We take early-evening walks throughout the park, and our favorite place to go is Government Hill (which is leading up to The Pavilion, work with me guys). So flash back to a few days ago, Thursday, August 15th, my boyfriend decided he wants to take a morning walk, not our usual evening walk. Ummm helloooo, what? I love our evening walks! Whatever, I figure we've never really seen the place during the day, so why not! We park the car in our normal spot, and begin our walk. We make it to Government Hill, which in retrospect is just a huge, gorgeous fountain with lots of flat boulders. As we're walking around the rocks, my boyfriend suddenly drops to one knee and asks THE question... I still remember it like it was yesterday(it practically was) "Linda, will you marry me??" Holy WHAT! I got engaged at Forest Park? At my, I shit you not, favorite spot in St. Louis? Yes, yes I did! *Brownie Points for you, my sweet, sweet man* So, long story short, boyfriend -ahem, Fiance- and I now love Forest Park even more. Such a nostalgic place. Sigh... It will forever have a soft spot in my heart. read more

I enjoy attending the African Arts festival that is held here annually. There is plenty of room for all of the vendors to set up their area and makes shopping and going to each vendor easy. I also enjoy being able to walk right over to the food and beverage vendors. It's usually warm to hot out for this event but that's to be expected since it is held Memorial Day weekend. Be prepared for quite a walk unless you get there early. I'm just happy that I didn't have to pay for parking so that was a plus. This year I also watched the women teach others how to do a head wrap. There was a kids art area and a stage was set up for multiple performances for the weekend. If you have never experienced the festival you should put it in your calendar for next year. read more

The world fair pavilion and the hill surrounding it is one of my favorite places in the entire city to just relax. Its a beautiful, simple tiered landscape that overlooks the valley of the park. There is no better place to sit in the grass for a few minutes and soak up some sun. In recent years they have cracked down on people swimming in the fountain that was clearly made with the idea in mind that people would want to climb on it! there are often festivals hosted in the structure itself. If you are lucky enough and book it waaaay in advance you can even have your wedding in it. the structure itself is nothing terribly interesting. Like I said, its more the atmosphere around the building that I enjoy so much. Bring a picnic. read more
