As for the fees, the State Sales Tax goes to the State, not Hessney. The buyers premium is indeed a rip off (since Hessney likely charges the SELLER a fee as well), but it is clearly stated at the beginning of every single auction and on his web site. The saddest thing is that buyer's premium does not buy you any guarantees. I think if you are being told that an item is in a certain condition, then it turns out that it does not work the buyer's premium should allow you to bring the item back for a refund of the bid price. The buyer's premium should be an insurance policy, not an extra 10% fee for Hessney. I would waive insurance if I could waive the fee. But to waive any insurance and still pay a fee above an beyond your bid price is just thievery.

He literally was selling shit for the last 4 hours to 3 people. Bidding a dollar for expensive items. Then his employees started gathering stuff up. And yes. They bought shit for a dollar. In my opinion and those of several people within earshot, he was often rude in his comments, particularly concerning 2 young Amish men he was speaking to. At one point, a women he obviously knew was fanning herself and he was disturbed by it. The interaction between the two of them was very uncomfortable to witness. His forbidding her to use the fan and her continuing to do so to the point he approached her and attempted to take the fan. Additionally, it was very difficult to see the current item up for bid as the staff stood in one spot with the items held at their mid section. With so many people seated in front of you, even bobbing and weaving your head, you could rarely see the item. He often barked orders at his staff, again a behavior that was uncomfortable to witness. Not sure I'd sit through another 6 hours of his auction.

There were several tradespeople working on his door, which made me nervous about negotiating with him. He then offered me double. I should have left, but I thought he was honest. I was wrong. I went back first thing Saturday after being there 1:30 pm the day before and asked for my items back. I thought since I have done business with him several times, he would do the right thing, I was wrong. He lied and said they were spoken for (dental scrap) then said they were shipped out. He lied about what he sold it to me for, saying he calculated it at 10kt (he never tested it and more than likely it was 20kt), and I said fine lets see what that amount is... And when I calculated it at what he said and showed him it was more than what he gave me, he made another excuse. Not only am I pissed at being ripped off, but I thought I found someone who was trustworthy to do business with. He is not! Go elsewhere. I could say more, but this is plenty. I'm happy to back up every word - Just go elsewhere.
