Disc golf course, pickleball courts, multiple playgrounds, several picnic shelters. It goes for maybe a half mile along Dixie Street with multiple entrances. At 7am on a Sunday, there was a good bunch of folks walking. It's clear that some people use the park for a "morning meetup" as they get in their steps and that was nice to see. The park is in excellent condition with neatly mown grass, no trash anywhere and all of the equipment I saw was cared for. The playground had several things to climb on, slide down and swing on. Plenty of parking near the covered picnic shelter that had picnic tables and trash cans and a charcoal grill. There is also a dog park here but I didn't see it this morning. Have been here before and now this campground is managed by the city rather than the State…read more Was assigned to D1 but the signs are all wrong because the arrow points to C where D is D1 has the sewer in front and water and electric about 30 ft away in the back 0 stars to the planner and designer seating in an office and not knowing what camping entails. Had to disconnect water and electric to move the RV closer so my hose would reach the sewer. Not good! UPDATE: three days later and on our way back I tried dialing about 14 times while on Interstate 75 and the call wouldn't go through and not because of my phone because I had three bars most of the time so we had to keep driving because maybe they shut down

This park starts off with numerous baseball fields which I assume that little leagues use throughout the summer. Spread out around the park are a few small children's playgrounds. The organized sports and fun for the kids: Check! Near the middle of the park there is this decent sized pond with a fountain. Also ducks! Lots of ducks! Different ducks! Friendly ducks! Did I mention there are ducks? Benches and swings are all around the pond. It's the perfect place to take a daytime date to relax. Date/Nature/Pond: Check! On one side of the park and out of the way you'll find a small skate park. It is tiny and they really should expand it for the skaters in the area. They have more than enough room and it's hard to find great places to skate. Alternative activity space: Check! On the other side is a paved path that circles the park. It's a great path, but I wish it wasn't just a flat and winding path. They should install more trees or other things to admire. This path is surrounded by grass and only grass. I think this park could benefit from more trees, plants, and flowers. There is a gazebo on one side of the park in this area. There is also a dog park tucked away. The only reason this park gets a 4 instead of a 5 is because of wasted space. There's a lot of underutilized space that could be made beautiful here. I'm surprised anytime I talk to someone from the area and they have no idea that the park exists. Everyone from Danville and the surrounding area should use this park! No excuses!

Our puppy loved the ducks (and these were some FRIENDLY and INTERACTIVE ducks...) and we experienced some other cool avian sightings. Not a surprise - but the restrooms were suitably scary and during the first part of our visit, the overcast and gray sky made the cement building feel ripe for a horror movie experience... compete with a scary service truck and a man in stained overalls. (Please note, the gentleman was actually very friendly and engaging and was hard at work - he was not in any way a negative presence). The park is expansive and it was actually really busy for a Thursday evening. The dog park was intriguing but we ran out of time to visit. The play area had something for all ages and was popular with children through teens. Loads of parking and the shelter area was great for a school gathering. Can't wait to visit again!

There are plenty of green spaces and empty fields to play frisbee, flag football, or volleyball. I drove to the dog park area since the park is strict on having the dogs on leash at all times, so I went there. The dog parks for both small and large dogs are enormous! I have never seen that size of a dog park since I was in Colorado--and that state is known for being pet friendly, so their parks and restaurants are 90% pet-friendly. I took my dog to the small dog park as he is small. It was still 4 P.m. and too hot for my dog. There are not a lot of shades in the small dog area compared to the large dog area. I did not stay that long as my dog did not like being grilled under the sun. I checked out the rest of the park by driving around and noticed a vast playground, a marina (although the water has receded), empty fields, a picnic area, and even a camping area! If I had come later in the day when it was not too hot for my dog, I would have enjoyed my stay here. I have seen plenty of residents around here with their kids, birthday party groups, and groups playing frisbee. I can tell that it is a great park to visit. Cool spot ~

We played, picnicked and passed some time relaxing before hopping back on the interstate. Fall is a lovely time to visit. There is a huge tree on the corner and its red, orange and gold leaves, as well as the foliage from all the trees around the park, made it a pretty as well as fun stop. We were also treated to the sights and sounds of a train passing just a couple blocks over, which was lots of fun for the kids, as well as the beautiful music of bells from a nearby church playing some of our favorite hymns while we ate. There are two covered picnic pavillions and a paved parking lot. There are also restrooms but during our Covid visit, they were locked. So, do what we did and visit the Artist Village Welcome Center (separate review) a block down the street for another fun adventure and restrooms. We also visited the Memorial from whence the park gets it's name. From World War I to the Iraq War, local veterans are honored with flags and an engraved marker and I was happy to read their names and honor their service as well.
