Have been here before and now this campground is managed by the city rather than the State. Was assigned to D1 but the signs are all wrong because the arrow points to C where D is D1 has the sewer in front and water and electric about 30 ft away in the back 0 stars to the planner and designer seating in an office and not knowing what camping entails. Had to disconnect water and electric to move the RV closer so my hose would reach the sewer. Not good! UPDATE: three days later and on our way back I tried dialing about 14 times while on Interstate 75 and the call wouldn't go through and not because of my phone because I had three bars most of the time so we had to keep driving because maybe they shut down read more

Nasty bathrooms,never open for campers and will never camp there with children..It's like it was 2 years ago,disgust,in the summer the pool always leaks and smells bad. read more

Camping -- Cheap at about $35 after taxes for water and electric with senior discount. Late arrivals are allowed which is hard to find sometimes. People taking reservations are really nice. We weren't given much information about where our site would be so we looked it up online. They do have markers on the posts. Decent amount of accessible trashcans. I had trouble finding the women's restroom because it doesn't have a women's marker by the door, the men's does and it's near the men's. Bathrooms are nice but could use some maintenance, some stalls wouldn't lock, but clean. Showers are nice and warm after waiting less than a minute. Other campers were really nice. Looked like there was a laundry room but it was late and I didn't look around much. Would have been prettier if the trees weren't still stuck in winter, but it was nice. The park is beautiful, with a working McHague's Mill, Mountain Life Museum, Pool and campground. There are plenty of tucked away shelters and tables for family events. We spent 5 days at the campground and enjoyed the basketball, mini golf, large paved site, and daily cleaned bathhouse. The sand volleyball court has issues with sand hornets, beware if you have bee allergies. The playground was fun for the kids, and camp staff were responsive and friendly. This review is mainly for the campground. There are a ton of campgrounds in the area... this was my least favorite that I've stayed at. The sites are aren't very private and not very big. They do have premium sites that include sewer hook up, but even those I have the same complaints. We booked on Reserve America a few months ago. We weren't able to make the weekend that we had booked, but since we switched the dates and didn't completely cancel, RA didn't charge a penalty. Usually when we reserve RA and arrive, your site has a reserved tag, making it obvious for walkups to know which are already reserved. Honestly, I think that the site that we blindly booked was the worst on the grounds. We were going to switch, but just as I mentioned, none had reserved tags posted, so we didn't know which were actually available, and since it was only for the weekend, we decided to rough it out. Our site was D19. On both sides were street lights, our camper was literally lit up as if it were daylight. It was paved, but so unlevel that I'm still wondering who in their right mind would've paved over such a narrow slope. As if our site wasn't already small enough, there was some sort of storm shelter or underground utility box on one side, two fire pits and a picnic table on the other. The site, I'd rate as a one. The campground overall I'd rate a 2 and a half, but because I can see that it appeals to those with small kids and groups, I'll bump my rate to a gracious three. The mini golf course looked cool and there was a basketball court and a few playgrounds. There was a pool outside of the campground area, within walking distance, but there was an entry fee and it was crowded on both Saturday and Sunday. Overall, I'd say it's a good campground for families and groups, but for a couple or anyone wanting tranquility, it's not a good spot. Oh, and there is a train track nearby. I love Levi Jackson state park because they have so much for you kids and adults and they have an amazing park and there playground its just amazing and the vollyball court and camp spook is amazing for the kids and lots more stuff to do like swimming and play on playground and the vollyball court and the basketball court and a lot more read more

Levi Jackson is a great place to stop for a visit. We've been going here since the 60's and it's still as beautiful as ever. We enjoy stopping at the old Grist Mill and picking up some Cornmeal. It's fresh ground there and comes in an authentic flour bag and includes a recipe for some really yummy cornbread. You can send the entire day there exploring the trails or just have a quiet picnic at one of the many picnic area tables. they also have a very nice, well tended campground. Checked in and given very little useful info. The map didn't even have my site on the map. No picnic table or fire ring on our site. Looks like other campers are moving tables and rings. Tried to call office, no answer and not able to leave a message. Disorganized and difficult to contact the office. Bathrooms are clean. read more

I love this park. Lots of room for kids to play and great for family outings. Or family reunions. It's always beautiful and clean. The grills could use a update. Right down the road is a duck pond to walk and take in some quiet time or have a nice picnic. And they also have a bike trail or a hiking trail. read more

We visited this state park before most of its attractions were open for the season. Which left just a couple of hiking trails for entertainment. Our campsite originally reserved was not available on arrival due to water problems. No worries, they moved us to another site and were very kind. Unfortunately, the second site had electrical problems so we moved to a third site. Everyone was very helpful but it still took three sites before we could settle in. The bathrooms are very nice and clean. The laundry was also nice. This park appears to be popular with the locals and offers a lot to the community in season. There are lots of people enjoying the basketball court which is not separated from the campsites. Our review may be an anomaly based on the timing and circumstances of our visit. read more

I will start with the positive. Super friendly campers. Nice bathroom/shower facilities. Area well maintained. We tent camped on K5 & K7. 5 does not have a fire pit and the water for these sites was broken. A constant stream of water was pouring from the base. Making the campsite INCREDIBLY muddy for the entirety of our stay. K7 is at the bottom of a small hill and when it rained the rainwater from the ENTIRE AREA cascaded down to the small creek alongside the site. Literally washing our things down the hill and water into tents. I asked the office about putting down mulch or hay and was told they do not do that but if we wanted to pay to get mulch/straw on our own we could do it. When we arrived there were four pieces of rebar sticking 18 inches out of the ground on K5. We ended up Packing up and leaving a day early as additional rain was being forecasted and we were concerned with the tremendous amount of water that flows to the creek and sleeping there overnight with flooding conditions. We have been camping for well over 20 years and have never experienced issues like this at a state park. All in all, if you pick Other sites you will enjoy your stay. The fella across the way from K7 had the same issues with water run off from the rain. I really don't think K7 should be considered a campsite. If anything-hammocks only. All said, I will be contacting the park again on Monday to discuss the issues as the two ladies in the front office told me there was nothing they could do. read more

We've been having our yearly family reunion here for as long as I can remember. The bathrooms are surprisingly clean and there's plenty of space for activities. However, what's sad is there's a little gift shop/museum across the street from the shelter and it used to be open while we were there but not anymore. That was one of the big ways we entertained and educated the kids during our reunions. Even without that it's still a beautiful park. read more
