The gift shop is most certainly still here...

This review is mainly for the campground. There are a ton of campgrounds in the area... this was my least favorite that I've stayed at. The sites are aren't very private and not very big. They do have premium sites that include sewer hook up, but even those I have the same complaints. We booked on Reserve America a few months ago. We weren't able to make the weekend that we had booked, but since we switched the dates and didn't completely cancel, RA didn't charge a penalty. Usually when we reserve RA and arrive, your site has a reserved tag, making it obvious for walkups to know which are already reserved. Honestly, I think that the site that we blindly booked was the worst on the grounds. We were going to switch, but just as I mentioned, none had reserved tags posted, so we didn't know which were actually available, and since it was only for the weekend, we decided to rough it out. Our site was D19. On both sides were street lights, our camper was literally lit up as if it were daylight. It was paved, but so unlevel that I'm still wondering who in their right mind would've paved over such a narrow slope. As if our site wasn't already small enough, there was some sort of storm shelter or underground utility box on one side, two fire pits and a picnic table on the other. The site, I'd rate as a one. The campground overall I'd rate a 2 and a half, but because I can see that it appeals to those with small kids and groups, I'll bump my rate to a gracious three. The mini golf course looked cool and there was a basketball court and a few playgrounds. There was a pool outside of the campground area, within walking distance, but there was an entry fee and it was crowded on both Saturday and Sunday. Overall, I'd say it's a good campground for families and groups, but for a couple or anyone wanting tranquility, it's not a good spot. Oh, and there is a train track nearby. A few times I was awaken by the sound... another reason that I wouldn't consider this campground as tranquil.

It's hard to hate any park. This park is another hit and if you're in Danville, it's a must stop…read more Every time I'm in the area, I always stop here. This park starts off with numerous baseball fields which I assume that little leagues use throughout the summer. Spread out around the park are a few small children's playgrounds. The organized sports and fun for the kids: Check! Near the middle of the park there is this decent sized pond with a fountain. Also ducks! Lots of ducks! Different ducks! Friendly ducks! Did I mention there are ducks? Benches and swings are all around the pond. It's the perfect place to take a daytime date to relax. Date/Nature/Pond: Check! On one side of the park and out of the way you'll find a small skate park. It is tiny and they really should expand it for the skaters in the area. They have more than enough room and it's hard to find great places to skate. Alternative activity space: Check! On the other side is a paved path that circles the park. It's a great path, but I wish it wasn't just a flat and winding path. They should install more trees or other things to admire. This path is surrounded by grass and only grass. I think this park could benefit from more trees, plants, and flowers. There is a gazebo on one side of the park in this area. There is also a dog park tucked away. The only reason this park gets a 4 instead of a 5 is because of wasted space. There's a lot of underutilized space that could be made beautiful here. I'm surprised anytime I talk to someone from the area and they have no idea that the park exists. Everyone from Danville and the surrounding area should use this park! No excuses!

This is a beautiful park located in Danville, KY. There are many facilities, a paved walking trail,…read morerolling hills, and a great fenced in dog park area. I've even looked up in the trees and caught a glimpse of an individual climbing high up in a tree! There is also a beautiful pond with a fountain. If you are in the Danville area, this is a great park to take your family or go for a run on your own.
