We wanted something interesting to do and we have never driven off road, so Hollerwood Park was our choice. We rented a Polaris RZR and spent 4 hours on some incredible trails. They have anything from easy to outright insane. We stayed on the easy green trails. The four hours is not nearly enough time to cover just the easy trails and if you are adventurous there are even more advanced trails waiting for you. The Polaris was in excellent shape, almost new. It was a pleasure to drive. The suspension on the machine made the rough trails smooth. There was some mud, so keep that in mind as you pick your clothes. Dress like you are going on a hike. It was a total blast. The experience was totally worth it!

The trails are all well marked and most hard lines have bypasses that we found. This is a gem of a park located near some great restaurants for food and drinks. If you are out near this park I highly recommend it. We did it last year with the Great American Crawl and had a blast. I did too and I…read moredidn't even fall like I expected lol It's a bit dingy both inside and outside but it's a sports center so not a big deal. The customer service was slow but they were nice. One lady was doing both sides (front where you get tickets and back where you get skate rentals) and so there was a little wait but it wasn't a big deal. They also look to offer mini golf but we only did the ice skating. We will definitely be returning. Make sure you go during open skate hours.

The prices are fair I give them that ALSO they don't charge you for bowling shoes which YOU MUST WEAR in order to bowl. So, you'll have to march your butt back out to pay for those so do this up front. Also out of the 6 lanes they have only 2 were working and not even half way through the game our lane messed up. And apparently the teenagers or extremely young adults they have working there don't know how to fix anything though I have to say one of them did try to help, and even after being moved to the only other working lane that had opened it messed up as well and they did refund our money.

The old fort site has a marina and some signage, but it was brutal hot, so I wandered up to the Kentucky River Museum and stumbled right into a fascinating tour! The guide's family has operated the lock (Lock 10 to be specific) since practically conception, so he had stories, pictures, letters, journals, and a deep connection to the home and site. Awesome tour! This tour is included with your purchase of a fort ticket, so I headed over there to get mine and wander around the replica fort complete with cabins, crows, period demonstrations, and a video about the one and only Daniel Boone! You know, that guy, pretty famous in these parts....
