We were visiting wineries near Seneca Lake decided to check out this place as no one in our group had been here. Sadly, we wish we had just bypassed based on the quality of the tasting experience. It was like give me your money, then see how quickly the server could announce your choice and pour. Took zero time to explain anything. It's too bad, because I had never had a mead before I think it's fascinating that local honey is used to make the mead. The tastings were good, but the server really needs to pursue another career. The 2 best things were the sign and active bee hive you see from inside the building.

We stopped by Warthog for a quick tasting of the ciders. I've never been to a cidery before. The nice thing about this place is that it closes at 6:00pm and this was one of the last places on our tour around Seneca Lake. There was no one here on a weekday afternoon so didn't have to worry about service. Inside, there's really not much to see. We came for the ciders. You can taste 6 for $5 or all 8 for $6 bucks. We opted to try all of them. Overall, the ciders tasted well, but most were flat because they've been open for probably a day or two. They all have RS's of 7% (residual sugars). Ended up buying a few bottles. You get $2 off a bottle when you have the tasting.

Super rude staff. Gave us a hard time about sitting in a chair "set aside". Experience was terrible. A must avoid.

Super cute spot with lots of unique cider options and great cornbread/desserts!…read more We tried the Funkhouse, Sparkling Cab Franc, Fruit of the Bloom, and Persici (in order from dry to sweet). My favorites were the Fruit of the Bloom which is infused with ginger as well as the Funkhouse. I liked how crisp the funkhouse was and I loved the ginger note in fruit of the bloom. The others were okyay too, persici was very sweet but paired nicely with the ginger hazelnut baklava which was incredible! I am allergic to pistachios, so I loved that I could eat their baklava! We also tried the cornbread with strawberry and jalapeno butter- absolutely incredible. I am from the south and have had a lot of cornbread but this truly stands out. It came out warm with a slight crunch from the crust while maintaining the perfect crumb inside. Just crumbly enough and not too try! I also really enjoyed the jalapeno and strawberry butters- you can tell they use high quality butter, they almost reminded me of goat cheese. I preferred the jalapeno butter a tad more but both were great! The exterior is beautiful- the views are very nice. I would highly recommend coming on a warm day and sitting outside. We initially sat on the balcony but moved due to the bees. The tables underneath the white tent were shaded and bee-free. Service was pretty quick- our ciders came out almost immediately. We had to wait ~10-15 minutes for the cornbread though, but I didn't mind especially given it was warm! Overall, I would highly recommend!

Rustic, somewhat isolated house solidly built. It's excellent for souvenirs (jams, butter,…read morespirits, and of course, cider). Prices aren't the best, but considering everything is made in-house, I'd say you're getting decent value. Houses about 25 people for seating comfortably. I'd suggest trying a flight (4 samples) of cider. Can't go wrong with anything but we went with the sweet cider flight. We ordered the pulled pork, choripan, soup, turkey pesto melt, and farmers salad, along with an immunity (ginger) cocktail. We liked the soup, melt and pulled pork, but would pass on the choripan and farmers salad, esp since all meals came with the same salad anyway. While I don't think you should go here just for the food, it's nice to grab some cider before heading off on a hike and enjoying the natural scenery.

It was only a 10 minute drive across Bluff Point. If you're staying near or in Penn Yan, I would recommend a visit. Lots of pluses. First, this is a local, family-owned cidery that opened in October 2024. The Geertz brothers (Eric and Doug) are co-owners. I was served by Eric who is an American Airlines pilot (3-4 days per week) and grew up in Penn Yan, NY. His father and grandfather were also pilots, so you'll see aviation images in the tasting room. Second, the handcrafted ciders had a wide variety and mix of sweet and tart flavors. I personally liked the "Locals Only Catawba", but the Grape Escape is one of their bestsellers (especially in the fall). A sample flight of 5 different ciders is $15 and a pint is $7. Third, it has a friendly and down-to-earth vibe. I did not feel rushed on a Friday afternoon. Overall, it's worth a visit if you're staying near or in Penn Yan, NY (on Keuka Lake). If their cider cans are not available, you can order a $25 glass growler (which must be kept in a refrigerator and preferably consumed within 2-3 days after opening).
