This is a great little brewery! With all the wineries, It's great to see more breweries for the beer drinkers. They had live music, it was great, a bit loud for the small space though. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I got a flight and my husband had a couple beers. I enjoyed their sours but I didn't really like the experimental blonde. We stopped here during a trip to the Finger Lakes. Although we were there for a wine weekend, I really wanted to try some local beer. This place is family and dog friendly which is awesome! I ordered a flight and thought the beers were just ok. The sitting area smelled strongly of wet dog and mop water. We tried to open a window but it was broken. The free popcorn machine and board games was a nice touch. All in all, I was glad to try some local beers on our trip but I wasn't impressed by this location unfortunately. read more

One of the growing number of local beer microbreweries in the Finger Lakes, taking its name from the region. It is located just outside the village of Hammondsport, near Keuka Lake, on Route 54. Visited with a small group at the end of September 2020. Outdoor seating is limited to a few patio tables and larger gazebo, but inside is a fairly spacious and bright taproom with well-spaced tables, both large and small. The low-ceilinged space has a bit of a sprawling, rec room vibe. Order drinks and pay for drinks/snacks at the bar, where the taps and merchandise are; simple snacks (e.g., cheese, hams, crackers) are in a refrigerator in the taproom. Finger Lakes offered nearly a dozen of their brews on tap, with a few seasonals. In the fall, there was a full spectrum of beer styles to choose from: pilsner, wheat, brown, amber, pale ale, IPA, rye IPA, NEIPA, sour, porter, and spiced winter ale, at lower-end ABVs of 4 - 6.9%. Very reasonable prices for 5, 12, and 16 oz pours, and for variety, the best option is the tasting flight of four 5-oz pours for just $8. Overall brew quality is good, not exceptional or noteworthy, but the beers are fun to try. Our group had a good time at a large indoor table for an afternoon visit to try a variety of draft beers. For non-beer drinkers, there were a few wines, $7 cocktails, and cider from a New York cidery. Beers can be purchased to go in crowlers and growlers. Micro brewery at it's finest! This brewery is popular for their live music, they have a schedule on their web page. Great atmosphere with all the growlers hanging from the ceilings. I went with the Tasting Flight 4 beers for $7, aviator white a light body a wheat ale with a hint of orange... summer sunshine in a glass. Newton's pale ale was my favorite med body with a crispier taste...lot's of flavor. Copperline ale lots of body with a dry after finish. My last tasting was the nitro brew an IPA that was on tap, very good... I ended up buying a glass of the IPA. There is a store on site for the usual tshirts, stickers, glasses but they also have some homemade candles in pint glasses (very cool never saw those before) I prefer the gift of more beer myself... good thing they offer growlers too. read more

Second to last stop on our impromptu beer tour. Sort of regret this one. We all talked about how we were not impressed with the beer here. After the 4 beer tasting flight I was determined to not leave until I found something I liked. Decided to try the watermelon beer. Never had that before, but, for $2 more.... Why not?? It was okay... interesting and certainly watermelony. I might be able to ingest 1 entire glass on a hot day... but nothing more. I noticed there was a popcorn machine, but one of the staff members was using a dry vac to suck out yesterday's remnants. I'll pass on the popcorn, thanks! Also, funny thing happened. I ordered a water on the side. Asked for a straw and the staff member said they didn't have any. A few moments later he came out with this thick clear tube.... If you've ever used or made your own beer-bong funnel, then you know the type of tube im talking about. It had some wear and tear about it, but he ensured me it was clean. I passed, but it was a nice (and interesting) gesture. They do have a little gift shop with tshirts, stickers, growlers, candles, and glasses. To me this area seems like a waste of a large space. No one manning this area... so much potential for some other attraction. read more

Decent place. Indoor and outdoor seating, pretty empty today, $8 flights, I had a flight of the session IPA, the pale ale, the rye IPA, and the watermelon wheat. The Watermelon Wheat was a highlight, very refreshing, and the watermelon tasted natural, light, and not too sweet and not at all artificial. read more

Stopped here after checking out a couple of wineries in the area. We decided on the flight of 4 for $7! We selected the Blood Orange, 2X 11/11 IPA, Copperline Ale, and the Indian Summer Ale. Enjoyed all of these. My favorites were the Blood Orange and the Indian Summer Ale. Enjoyed the free popcorn along with our flight. You can purchase any of your favorites in a crowler or growler. The also have 22oz bottles available for sale in the brewery of certain brews. I purchased a crowler of the Blood Orange and a 22oz bottle of the Watermelon Wheat(which was sold out on tap). We came in on a Sunday when slow. The bartender- who makes money based on customers- said "I don't want to serve these ppl." We ordered a round of beers and paid and sat and watched football. While we were discussing our next stop - although we would have stayed if we were not made to feel like we invaded their space and the bartender taking her mask on and off - a man at the bar told us if "we hurried up we could get their quicker." Unreal. What they don't know is that a few of us have worked many yrs in the industry and are great tippers and consciousness patrons. This was my least favorite place on Keuka for breweries (we only missed one). We came to visit on a Saturday morning, when we walked in there was only one customer checking out. We walked to the back, took in the surroundings and waited for someone to greet us at the bar. It smelled a little funny, this could be because of the beer, but it wasn't super unpleasant, just not great. The guy who served us was polite, he made small talk with us and served us a sampler. I ordered the root beer, this is a plus (and the free popcorn). The tastings came in a small shot glass, smaller then normal and I was not impressed by that - especially when the top half is foam. I don't understand why there isn't tasting glasses? Overall, beers were okay, nothing special for us to get a growler.. I think this is how I gauge how much my +1 likes places. When we leave with a growler, I know it's good. I would never come back to this place. Although the young guy was nice, the atmosphere was not pleasant. We asked a question about distilleries/wineries and he said he didn't know much but the owner (Wayne, maybe?) would know. The owner stood at the side of the bar folding t-shirts not acknowledging the only customers he had in the bar. It seems a bit rude to me to not even say hello, look up, wave... anything? Anyone there? He was very unfriendly and not welcoming. I don't suggest making the trip out here if you're only looking for breweries. There beers here are well worth a second look, and the experience just outside of downtown Hammondsport is relaxing, easy and friendly. *** The Hammonds-Porter drives notes of vanilla and chocolate. It's dark, smooth, almost creamy and velvety. Highly recommend. Lots of dark beers nowadays will be like milkshakes- heavy, full-bodied and a meal in itself. That's not this, or the stout. I like their direction. *** The steamboat stout is nice. I'm a stout lover, and though this one wasn't my favorite, it's the stout that EVERYONE can enjoy- light, spicey, mild chocolate and a milky finish. Would drink this too. *** The double IPA isn't especially hoppy compared to a lot of the DIPAs out there. You can blame the cascade hope for that. Citrus flavors about here with a hoppy, bitter finish. Any IPA drinker will be happily satisfied with a pint of this. My girlfriend hates bitter beers but loved this one. Same. *** The Hefeweizen was my least favorite, though that's not where my beer taste goes generally. Notes of lemon and orange peel. It's quite sweet. Light and smooth. *** The bourbon barrel beer is sweet, and you sure do taste the bourbon. Happy with it, but I couldn't do a glass. *** Staff is friendly, outgoing and personable. Location is great, and atmosphere/view is unremarkable but solid. *** It's not the best beer in the Finger Lakes, but I'd come back with a growler for sure. *** Only advice? Ditch the country music. I stopped by after a visit to the local Curtis museum. From the outside, it doesn't look very big but there is plenty of seating with a decent size bar and a large selection of beers available. There is a limited menu but there is also a free popcorn machine. And the world's friendliest dog walking around to greet you. If you are in the area, I highly recommend you stop by. Stopped into the brewery today for a Sunday Funday. The bartender, Katie, was warm and welcoming. It was slow for a bit when we got there but there was a group of 8 or 9 that came in. She was very welcoming to them and made a joke saying "man, where are you all coming from?". Finger Lakes Beer Company is a relatively new player to the beer makers in wine country, but they have really hit a home run here! My most recent favorite finger lakes brewery is Naked Dove but FLBC has overtaken the top spot. Being located on Route 54 amongst a small stretch of various businesses, it can be easily missed. Located in a decent sized building with a viewing area that allow you to see all of the brewing process is a nice touch. They have the standard t-shirts, mugs, and growlers for sale(they also have a 1 liter growler for sale that I've never seen before) in an off-room. What FLBC does great is why you'd visit a brewery... the Beer!!! For $2 gets you a tasting of between 6-8 beers depending on what they have on tap. Right from the start the Pale ale was nice and refreshing, something that doesn't usually peak my interest. The scotch ale was relatively close to Rohrbach's, as the brewmaster mentioned that they modeled theirs after it. With FLBC discontinuing their vanilla porter in exchange of their steamboat stout, it was a great dark beer. However, above all else was their winter seasonal, Whiteout Wassial. I truly feel bad for you if you go once they run out of it. One word, phenomenal. I have a growler in my frig right now, and I'm jealous of myself that I can't drink it right now!! FLBC is taking some creative steps with beer making that really needs to be recognized. They are too small of an operation right now to bottle, and they don't believe in outsourcing any productions. I know a few restaurants/bars have their brews in the local area, I just hope they can get up to Rochester sometime soon. read more

The beers overall are good with our favorite being the Hammonds-Porter which is brewed with chocolate and fermented with Madagascar vanilla beans. I don't even drink beer, I don't like beer, I can't even keep a small amount of beer down, but all my beer-drinking friends love it when I take them here. We got referred here by the greeter at one of our favorite wineries, he, as always, steered us right. The brewery equipment is behind glass and there's a bar for tasting the product. It's $3 for a flight of 7 including a root beer. (OK, I drank that, and it was really good.) The owners are right there to answer any questions and the place is pretty busy at times. Of course you can get growlers and other formats to go. There is hops growing around the building and a front porch to sit on. If you like beer, it's not going to hurt to give this place a try. read more

I wanted to break up our mini-winery tour with a stop at one of the area breweries. Baby doesn't like beer so when I saw that Finger Lakes Beer Co. made their own root beer that sealed the deal. Turned out to be a great choice. We got a very friendly greeting from Cassie the chocolate lab and were happy to pay $4 for a tasting flight of eight beers and $1(!) for a glass of root beer. Although not all the beers were to my taste, I can honestly say that there was not a clunker in the bunch. The staffer serving us was very friendly and informative and continued to pay attention to us even after a crowd from one of the ubiquitous limos rolled in. We ended up taking home a couple of growlers of the Scotch Ale for ourselves and as a gift. I can highly recommend FLBC. read more

We got two flights and the beer was disappointing. Only really enjoyed one or two, the rest were poor compared to other breweries in the area. The blackberry sour was the consistency of a smoothie, which is fine, but wasn't something that sat well with us. Location is fine, though there is no view. Limited outdoor space and the indoor space was dark and quite uninviting. I've been here a few times now and it hasn't impressed, especially when you compare the competition. read more

Made a detour on my way back to the Capital District from a trip to Buffalo to buy the Watermelon Wheat that I had tried on a trip to Windmill Farms two years ago. I was a bit worried that the memory of the Beer and the long drive out of my way was not going to meet my lofty expectations. Well it did and then some. I met the owner Wayne who was great to talk to and enjoyed looking around at all the things this brewery has to offer. I will make my way there in the not to distant future to buy some more Watermelon Wheat and try some other craft beers that I am sure are all good. If your In the Keuka Lake are and enjoy craft beer this should be your first stop. These guys do the the hoppy and other beers like hefes and porters right. If you like a hoppy beer with kick go with the the 11/11 IPA(8.0%) if you want more hopps with less kick (5.6%) go with the Newton's pale ale and you will not be disappointed! The watermelon wheat is also a great summer choice. Enjoy this spot and ask about the growler club free beer tastes better. read more
