His info was different from mine, that I have had for the 4 or 5 years we have owned the refrigerator. He was patient, but somehow he had the wrong instructions. What he should had seen is on page 17 of the owner's manual. See below. I knew the filter was supposed to be turned 1/4 a turn, but what he was looking at was different. It said just push the filter into the receptacle. Wrong model? The filter would not turn, he said, even in the new receptacle. How did it work according to the manual for several years and now has changed? Anyway, he pushed the filter in straight with no rotation, and water flowed. So he took the new part he had ordered and left. We can hope all continues to work. How could he have the wrong instructions? Is this GE's fault? I can't fathom it. Anyway, a nice guy, and so far the filter is working even tho it was installed incorrectly.

I recently purchased some glass tile for our backsplash. My husband has experience with installing…read moreceramic tile, but this was his first attempt at glass. There were only a few tiles that needed to be cut, to fit around the outlets, but the tiles that DID need cut kept cracking a few days after they were installed. So, he would take the cracked tile off, cut a new tile, re-install the tile, notice that it had cracked AGAIN, and repeated these steps over FIVE TIMES. We sought out advice from a few friends, but none of their suggestions worked. At this point, we just wanted the backsplash to be finished already, so I reached out to Cedar Valley Handyman and told them I would literally pay them to come install these last few tiles! The Handyman that I spoke with asked questions about what type of saw/blade we were using, what kind of adhesive we were using, etc. and was able to identify that we weren't using the correct adhesive for glass. The adhesive we were using was only for ceramic tile, and the pressure was causing the glass to crack. Mind you, my husband is a handyman himself, and even with years of experience this was new knowledge to him. We went out and purchased the adhesive they recommended, installed the last few tiles and as of a month later NONE OF THE NEW TILES HAVE CRACKED!! Of course I was impressed with their knowledge, but even more so I was EXTEREMELY impressed that instead of taking me up on my offer and getting paid to finish the job, they chose to offer FREE advice. If we ever run into more issues in the future that we can't resolve on our own, Cedar Valley Handyman will be the first company I call!
