Warning - Affordable Tree Service LLC (Thornton) Damaged My Property & Walked Off Job…read moreHi neighbors, I wanted to share my recent experience with Affordable Tree Service LLC (based at 9595 N Pecos St, Thornton, CO 80260) in case anyone is considering hiring them. They thought it would be a good idea to drive their big heavy heavy truck up onto my property and broke my concrete sidewalk (about 4 ft x 2.5 ft plus gutter section). The damage was clearly fresh I have photos. They admitted responsibility but only offered a $200 discount. They even told me they do concrete work, yet they refused to fix the damage themselves. When I pushed for a proper repair (my concrete contractor quoted ~$600 to match the new pour), they walked off the job after removing just one tree, said they "don't like people taking advantage of them," as if I'm the one who told them to drive the truck up on my property and break my concrete. Also they have refused multiple requests for their Certificate of Insurance. I'm now forced to handle the repair myself and search for another tree removal contractor and they're all really busy right now with the weather we just had. Please avoid this company. Demand insurance proof upfront, and consider other companies, I would not recommend this company if you value professionalism, accountability, or proper insurance documentation. Just wanted to warn others -- be very careful with access instructions and get insurance details in writing upfront.

Wehad an old tree that needed some serious work. 3-D was quick to respond for a request for an estimate walked around the property with my husband to talk about exactly what needed to be done and then came through 100%. I had no idea the amount of work that it was going to take to work on these trees not only did they do the trimming we required, but their cleanup was absolutely excellent. They did the immediate cleanup up and came back for the large removal project. It could not have gone better. Fast forward 2 years and we needed to remove our last 2 conifers for wildfire mitigation in a high risk neighborhood. I called them back as I feel they are the best arborists around. Locally owned and staffed. The set up for the project went well, the timing perfect for summer between the move out of last year's students and the arrival for the upcoming year. The house closest to the tree is the house next to ours which is student rental home for CU off campus housing. When they are between summer moves , there are fewer parking issues as well as not interfering with their lifestyle. The team came this morning m, right in time, having procured the no parking signs for such work and having the utilities locators done in advance. The work when exceeding well, removing the already broken spruce and the aging and badly place piñon pine, too close to our house. The team of arborists were amazing. I would certainly use them again if I could but I am out of trees that will ever need removals. Call this place first if you are ever in need. When it came time to say good bye, Mike was there the very next day and the 2 days following to cut and remove it. He was very courteous to our neighbors letting them know that some of it may land in their yards while assuring them, he'd be there to clean it up. He took his time and care as not to damage any of our fences and knew exactly what he was doing. God bless him, in 95+ degree weather! He hauled off the big stumps to use by wood burning companies and chipped up the rest out front. Everything was cleaned up and a substance applied to prevent sprouting of the existing ground roots. The reason I'm writing a review as someone who chose not to employ this company is WHY I chose not to employ this company. I am a single female homeowner and did not at any time feel like John was listening to or respecting my requests for the job (leave a stump, leave trunk wood in firewood lengths, no grinding, dump chipped branches on the driveway). The quote that I received included none of my job requests which further concerned me that if I hired them, my desires would not be honored. The quote was not the highest but was four times the amount quoted by companies that were willing to remove the tree by climbing - of which there were many. I ended up having the tree removed and my requests honored for 25% of the cost quoted by St Vrain, so I recommend making sure you quote multiple companies for your job. I also caution against using this company as a single woman; bring your handyman, dad, brother, son, whatever to repeat your requests so they're actually heard.

He recently removed a dying ash tree for me that was right next to my sunroom (lots of potential shattered glass) and leaning over my roof. Chris does maintenance cabling/trimming on a neighbor's huge bracket backyard cottonwood tree and removed two huge cottonwoods for my next door neighbor last year, so he was highly recommended. Pricing was also very manageable; of about 7 total quotes, Reinholt was among the less expensive group that was willing to remove the tree by climbing rather than with a crane. I delayed the job by about 6 months from the time I got the quotes and had some communication misses when I went to reinstate contact, but we cleared that up painlessly. Chris showed up with a crew of 4 guys. Within 90 minutes the tree was down and they'd cleaned up and moved on to the next job. Everyone was polite, mindful of the landscaping and they definitely left the area cleaner than they found it. They brought what looked like 3/4 or full inch-thick sheets of plywood to protect the windows and left no damage. As a female homeowner with no "man of the house" contractors can be challenging, but Chris is not one of those and I definitely recommend him.

Do it yourself, there are some shovels, we bring our own and buckets or trash bins to put mulch in. Apparently the logs are also free, great for some outdoor projects!
