First, they came banging on my door at 7:30 am on my day off & didn't even start working til 9. Why was it necessary to wake me 1.5 hrs before they started work? But that's just the beginning..They over trimmed a beautiful hard maple. It is a slow growing tree & will never recover from this butcher job. Ameren hires them, I didn't. It's not their first time in my yard. They've never done this much damage to this tree. Clearly they no longer hire qualified people, and don't take pride in their company at all. They also destroyed my front yard with chemicals leaking from their equipment. This was a week ago and I can't get a real person on the phone. These guys with their chainsaws should be tared and feathered! I'd like to give these jerks a -0 rating if I could. Avista Utilities hires this out of town company to prune the trees back from the power lines in our area. They butcher most of the trees they get their hands on. Avista told me that they are only concerned about the lines, not aesthetics so obviously they don't care about who they hire to do their dirty work. I knew this when Avista said they needed to trim our tree away from the power lines. So, I called and they assured me that I could be there when they "trimmed" it. Well, guess what? They didn't call me or anything. They simply showed up while we were at work and completely destroyed our maple tree (our only tree). BUTHCERS! I have 2 witnesses. One of the neighbors and a construction company watched it done and both said, it was a "hack job", done in minutes and that they never stopped to look at it and figure out how to prune it carefully. They watched them do the deed. These people are NOT arborists! They are tree butchers! I walked around the entire neighborhood and saw at least 10 trees that were in the power lines a lot more than ours. The Avista rep saw the pictures and said it was over-pruned. But they are covered in contracts between them so that no one can hold these assholes (both Avista and Wright Tree Service accountable! I am devastated and feel violated. I love this tree. It's a beautiful maple. It's about 100 years old. It feels like death in my front yard. I was told that Avista HATES maple trees the most! So, what they do is over the course of the years they "trim" those maples in a way that makes them unstable. So, finally their final trim makes the tree a hazard. Then they come in and say, "oh, we will help you and take the tree out and plant a tree that we like in it's place." Oh, go to hell, I say! Our neighborhood and city is getting uglier because this Wright Tree company is here. Trees are extremely important! They do so much for us. They bring beauty to our world. They bring oxygen to our space. They are places for birds and animals to nest. They bring color in the fall and beauty in the Spring. I'm just mortified at the lack of care and the indifference that this community and this company seems to have about protecting the trees and making this town into something that people want to live in and visit instead of something that the locals want to run away from. My family and I are heartbroken and feel violated. I wish all the people in Kellogg, Idaho would form a posse and run these guys out of town! I'm looking for a lawyer. Absolutely the worst company and experience with Wright Tree Service. They were contracted out to cut tree limbs away from power lines and when I approached them about the unnecessary cutting back of 20 feet of flimsy limbs from our beautiful mature Hemlocks that would never endanger a power line even if some were to break, they replied, "maybe buy a house without trees." I stated how incredibly unprofessional they were and they again replied, "we don't care". So there you have it. They don't care. Next time hire folks who take pride in their work and can carry on a professional conversation with those who care about the trees on their property. Wright Tree Service - The destruction work of Wright Tree Service on 12/4/2025 - Tree Services Near Me - West Des Moines, Iowa

A worker from this company used a 2x4 to kill one of our pet turkeys on private property. We run a nonprofit dog rescue and keep various poultry and livestock on and around the property, which we use to safely teach our rescue dogs to be calm and respectful around farm animals ("stock proofing"). Our turkeys are very tame, friendly, and used to people -- they free range while we walk and work with the dogs. For about a year, this company's crews have been idling on a nearby property that we caretake and maintain for the owners and have seen us many times walking dogs and our turkeys. On the morning of the incident, while we were swapping dogs out, one of the workers approached one of our friendly turkeys, took advantage of how comfortable she is with people to get close to her, and then struck her with a 2x4, killing her. This was on private property where he had no legitimate reason to be at that time. Law enforcement was contacted and a report was taken. After this happened, we attempted to contact the company directly. They blocked us on Facebook and have not responded to any of our phone calls or emails. Because of this experience, I will not use or recommend this company. I strongly suggest that others do not hire them for services. Check with your local utility company to see if they contract with this company and, if so, request that a different contractor be sent instead. And if you have pets or livestock, in my opinion you should absolutely not trust this crew around your animals or give them unsupervised access to your property. The tree is a decent way away from the power lines, but instead of thoughtfully cutting back, they lopped off half the tree. Wright Tree Service, a contractor for Pacific Power, visits our neighborhood every few years to trim trees near power lines. During their most recent visit, we informed them that the branches they were trimming from one side of the tree had caused the tree to lean at a 45-degree angle, with part resting on the roof of our home. Despite our concerns, they proceeded with the trimming process and failed to remove the fallen limbs and debris they generated. Consequently, we were had to hire a local tree service to remove both trees, incurring a cost of $2,000.00. Additionally, we will need to hire someone to clear the remaining debris left by Wright Tree Service. Though Wright did send a representative in response to our complaint, he basically told us that we couldn't prove they left the mess, and they weren't liable for the clean-up. read more

Well..,after reading these reviews I have no idea why DTE keeps hiring this company to do their tree trimming around their power lines. They must be cheap. I would leave a negative 100 if I could. They had a representative that came to me and told me what they were going to do. I approved a few small trees and some brush. However, when the days came that they were doing the work, Wright destroyed an area that was not even discussed. Brush and trees were removed 30 feet wide, the brush was holding back water from a river, the area is now more flooded rather than a wet land. They could've trimmed things back and it would've lasted years and years. But they had no care about it being someone's property. Wright just came through and hacked away at everything in their way. No repercussions. Now I have to deal with the awful looking area on my property which also got rid of some of my privacy from my neighbors. If Wright brothers was a stand up company they would try to compensate me for the destruction. Worst company!!! Do not hire them! I used to be an employee for wrights recently. The GF told me I was getting laid off, that another co worker should be getting and I quote "shit canned" next week and that he would call me back to come to work. 3 weeks later I get a letter with my retirement check, which means I'm no longer an employee. I have text messages from the GF stating I was laid off. The GF could've been a man and told me. he laid others off as well. I have 3 daughters and I'm the main provider for my family. I emailed you guys and also sent you a message on Facebook messenger, allowing time for a response. a wire draping eight to ten feet above the street is a safety hazard. I live on a culdasac and have elderly neighbors who still drive. I would've appreciated a reply of some sort, atleast letting me know you'd have your guys be more careful or maybe have them come back and put the line back up. read more

Wright Tree Service were the first of nearly a dozen people to do anything thru DTE problems. DTE is way behind on tree trimming which is why people keep losing service. They sent nearly a dozen useless, rude, unprofessional people over here with a different story every time. They are paying people to go around and tell people what they won't do and then sit in a truck for an hour to write the report. Everyone thru DYE was horrible. Sour. Rude. They all act as if the customer is the problem when DTE has left Michigan in a terrible state of mismanagement of trees all over. They are all getting storm pay but not working. DTE has caused our house to be destroyed from a neighbors tree repeatedly tearing lines down. Not even ours. The only professional people that showed up to do their job was this company! your tree isn't going to look good after this service. If you want tree trimming with eye appeal, you have to hire that. Wright Tree Service sent a team to my area to do some trimming on behalf of our power company. I was worried about the safety of my car, but the guys did an amazing and careful job navigating their tree-trimming vehicle carefully around our cramped parking lot, and making sure that no cars were in harm's way while they were trimming. They were also very patient with a nervous car-owner hovering around, and they let me get my car out of the way! They also did a nice job with clean-up -- no debris/branches left behind, so when they left you couldn't even tell that tree-trimmers had been there (except for the trimmed trees, of course!) read more

They were hired by my utility company. I let my dog out in the morning, then went back to bed. I heard chainsaws and my dog barking, but thought it was next door. I realized it was in my yard and went to check. Workers were in my yard (If they knocked on the door I never heard it) and the gate was wide open. I told the guy my dog was out here. He said he wasn't. I said yes he was. He said he wasn't and went back to work, I got ready to go search the neighborhood for my dog when he came to the back door. He was outside the entire time and there were huge branches all over the yard. Also, when they left there were a lot of branches still in the yard, and they knocked over my other dog's headstone. Hired by Oncor to butcher trees with no regard of the hazards they leave behind or the property owner. Trees along the streets are left in a deep V shape and are a hazard to fall on whatever goes under them, or they leave unsightly stalks sticking out of the ground. Last year we had to pay $2,000. to get our trees fixed after they abruptly came through. The Arborist Joshua from ACRT lies to your face about having permission to be on your property and enters the property any way they can. Also states they are not there to aesthetically trim the trees just remove growth around power lines. Why can't both be done at the same time? No one cares to talk to you about working together only there to invade your privacy whether you like it or not. No Ethics! Wonder why they are threatened on a daily basis? read more

This company did contract work in our area for the local utility. They left wood all over when they finished. They lied to us about not being able to get a vehicle backed up to haul the wood chips. So they blew all the wood chips into the area. It's not so much about putting them there as it is about lying to avoid hauling them. read more

I'm not sure about the job they do or the service they actually do. This review is not about that. It's about the lack if consideration for those surrounding their projects. They are currently working on a project near my house. They had the power turned off but did not give any notice to the surrounding area this would be happening. I work from my home and had I received notice I could have prepare properly. I bill hourly and thus far have a deficit over 2 hours / $200 worth of billable hours. My review is not about the service moreover the lack of respect for the homes surrounding the project they are working on and the level of professionalism. Lots of people work from home these days and this should be a consideration. I'm glad they're billing hourly and are able to make money on their projects but I'm not ok with them interfering with my job just to accomplish their own work -without consideration to who and what is around them. read more

Wright Tree Service is contracted by Excel Energy... offering free mulch. We were approached while working in our driveway with "some mulch" to offset the future hassle of trees being trimmed in the backyard. In the second conversation, it turned to "a lot." Ok. Fair enough. We soon found out that "a lot" has a "a lot" of options. Specifically, that "some/a lot" is 14 cubic yards (nearly 200 wheelbarrow trips) of steaming mulch/compost. While some might say we're complaining about free stuff, I find it deplorable that Wright Tree Service (and Excel Energy) seem cool with the company duping homeowners/customers into using their residential driveways as a dumping ground to save a few bucks. More importantly, our time is not free. Simply be honest with homeowners upfront. Tell them it's "14 cubic yards" or a "full dump truck" or even "gonna take up 1/2 your driveway and require 10 - 15 hours of manual labor to move it all." read more

Wright tree service was contracted by RPU in Rochester MN to clear powerlines. We were never contacted by this company who has been in our yard on several days. Our once beautiful trees look like Q-tips!! During employee break times, which seem to be in Our yard I have witnessed a employee urinate while looking out our dining room window, Listen to profanity and watched during breaktime the men hitting each other in the private parts with their work gloves. Tree butchers! They were sent on behalf of the local power company. Limb trimming has become a yearly ritual so we know to expect it every spring, but I have never had my tree so completely butchered. They cut every limb and TWIG back to the base of the tree and pretty much topped the tree. They even cut limbs over my driveway that run parallel to the power lines. I asked them to please stop as they were destroying my tree and cutting far more than necessary, many feet away from the power line and they said "okay" and then continued to butcher my tree. OMG!!! They just came back, knocked on my door and said they are taking more of my tree!!! He said it is necessary. Well it's never been necessary in the 30 years we've lived in this house! The limbs he is taking are even with the power line and 5 feet from it! I didn't know limbs break and fly 5 feet to land on a line! He said he was going to trim one more limb and they have now trimmed at least a dozen. When they are done, I'll have a pole on one side and full limbs on the side facing my house. I went back outside just before they took off the main vertical limb in the center of the tree. They were going to completely top my tree! I ordered them off my property. The man with Write Tree Service finally told me this is the first year they have been contracted by Oncor and I told them there is a reason for that. I have filed a formal complaint with Oncor and a specialist is schedule to come out to evaluate the situation. read more

My neighbors had a tree removed and they dropped large limbs into my yard. They left over a dozen large divots in my immaculate yard. I called them and they offered to seed it. In the middle of summer. Obviously seed won't take unless I water it everyday. Then they wanted to dolly the logs out through my lawn. I had to put caution tape up to keep them off my lawn.
