I love Writing Pad! I've taken several TV writing classes with Jack Kukoda (NBC's Superstore), Todd Waldman (Showrunner MTV's Awkward, Happy Endings) & Devanshi Patel (ABC's Black*sh)--and all three were AMAZING. They helped me develop 3 different TV pilots, all of which I love and was struggling with before class. I've learned so much from each instructor and it's helped me become a better writer--and a better assistant for the writer's rooms I woke in. In fact, my showrunners love the ideas I pitch now & find them valuable. Because Writing Pad's TV classes were so wonderful, I also took two Personal Essay classes. Currently I'm planning to publish them! The owners of the school, Jeff & Marilyn, truly care about students. They aren't all about sales, etc. They want to see their alums succeed, so they - along with the instructors - go out of their way to help you get published or reach your writing goals post-class. Definitely recommend taking a class here! The owners and instructors are top-notch.

But I felt so intimated by my new machine. I ticked it away for years but I saw an email for a Moving Thread beginner 4-week workshop. 3 hours each session. Last night was class 1 of 4. My class was six ladies aged from mid 20s to late 60s. One never sewed. Two hand sewed. And two of us used machines 20 and 30 years ago and one lady had a machine and used it but felt intimidated. So we were all pretty nervous about our fledgling sewing skills. But the class was paced perfectly and by the end of our first class we successfully completed beautiful reversible totes! The workshop is $550 and it's a great value: project 1 tote, project 2 zipper pouch, project 3 pants (two classes). Our instructor was warm, friendly, funny, knowledgeable, helpful. My only drawback are the chairs. They're not comfortable for me and my leg felt like it wanted to go numb. No one else seemed uncomfortable so maybe it's just me. I'll try a seat cushion to see if it'll help. I brought my machine with me so I could learn how to use it but my husband actually bought the same Heavy Duty Singer sewing machine provided in the class for student use. All the equipment, accessories, fabric needed is provided by the class. You only need to show up. No good or drink allowed in classroom but water is okay. Be sure to enter the rear entrance let the instructions in your student information email. Because to show up on time. Basically no make classes. So if you sign up be sure you're schedule is free for the specified time period. If you're thinking of taking a quick afternoon class or a full workshop I highly recommend you give Moving Thread a try. The instructor we had last night has her own fashion label and is highly knowledgeable but gave us very easy instructions that us newbies could follow. The was patient with our foibles and created an atmosphere of grace and fun. I look forward to my to rest of classes Eventually I look forward to trying the advanced class offerings too. We live an hour away, but I drove my daughter there every single Sunday. At first, I honestly questioned everything. I wondered if it was too expensive, if it was legitimate, and if we were making the right decision. But looking back now, I can say with my whole heart that it was one of the best decisions we ever made for our daughter. My daughter stayed with the program for two years, graduated, walked the red carpet with so much confidence, and watched her graduation film on the big screen surrounded by people who believed in her. It was emotional for me as a parent because I saw how much she had grown, not just as an actress, but as a person. We chose to continue because my daughter truly loved acting. I worked extra hard to make the tuition possible, and every sacrifice was worth it because this is where she discovered her passion and found confidence in herself. Gary Spatz and Gayla Goehl saw something special in her before anyone else did, and I will always be grateful for that. Because of the foundation she built at The Playground, she now has incredible representation with, one of the most respected agencies in Los Angeles. The Playground gave my daughter an opportunity, guidance, and belief in herself that changed the direction of her life. For our family, it was absolutely worth it.

The office person said I could sign for an additional 6 months at a savings of about $100. And also said that he'd work it out with me if by chance I don't do the second 6 months. Well, needless to say, I'm getting nothing in return for cancelling the later period of classes. He declined saying what I heard him say and then resorts to the contract verbiage of a standard 10 day cancellation policy. THE PLAYGROUND ACTING SCHOOL is not willing to be fair at all. I paid in ADVANCE for something I no longer want. New classes don't begin until next year and they will keep my money.

Nothing is quite as exciting as watching your photograph come to life, or as empowering as knowing you have full creative control in the darkroom. Andrew is incredibly friendly, passionate, patient, engaging, inspiring, a true artist with a wealth of expertise, and an exceptional instructor for your journey into the darkroom. The days were thoughtfully planned out, and we touched on everything one would need to gain the confidence to start and/or evolve their business. The word that comes to mind is "clarity." I gained clarity at who I am at my core and how that expands into all facets of my business. I gained clarity on both my immediate and long term goals and how to prioritize them. And I gained clarity on what was holding me back. I arrived alone but left with 3 close friends and two mentors that I can't thank enough for helping me realize and shape a dream I had one day in 2020. 4/5/22 No matter where you are in your career and/or life, you deserve to do this for YOU. I had a bit of an inferior complex going in because I have zero training or experience in Interior Design, and this course is designed literally for every one at every level. The team has designed such an approachable program that touches on all aspects of the process. Wanda - our fabulous instructor - brings real world examples into every lesson that helps contextualize beyond the classroom. In addition, the "white box challenge" was such a fun practice run of what it's like to design in the real world. If you're on the fence about joining, just do it! You'll never regret doing this for you, even if it's just to serve a need to design your own house. I can unequivocally say that the Academy of Home Staging & Design changed my life, and it prepared me for a life where my job doesn't feel like a job at all.
