Before Weight Watchers, my indulgences were Burgers, Pizza, French Fries, Ice Cream....YOU NAME IT. After I started the program my indulgeces are Burgers, Pizza, French Fries, Ice Cream....YOU NAME IT! WAIT!!! WHOA! WHOA! Something did not sound right about that. You, yes you the one looking perplexed right now while reading my review. I didn't stutter. What I just said is the truth! I've tried everything to drop 60lbs of this stubborn baby weight but my eating has always gotten the best of me. So, how does it work? Weight Watchers goes by a points system. No food is off limits, you just have to remain in your personal point allowance. Sounds easy? That's because it is. I'm the type of person that thinks about food all day, everyday. I'm currently thinking about food while writing this review so if I can drop a few lbs ANYONE CAN! I attend the meetings at the Gus Thomasson location in mesquite but you can go to different locations. They always have specials going on and check with your job because many times you might receive a discount! The leaders at this location are so inspiring and are truly not here for themselves. They are here for you. They're here to share their testimony and encourage you to stay on track while riding this wild crazy horse called LIFE. WW Weight Watchers - Ahhh! My sanctuary! - Weight Loss Centers Near Me - Mesquite, Texas

Fat Bastard. This is what I'm trying not to be. Now, like Tommy Boy, I have a serious love of the eats. It's my favorite indoor sport. Sometimes outdoor too! Having gained, in weight, the near-literal equivalent of a small backstreet boy since graduating college, I have decided enough is enough and put down my bear claw. And goat cheese. And Guinness (kind of). I'm one week in to the process and down nearly 6 lbs, so I believe it seems to be working. I attend with a viking buddy of mine and have been impressed thus far. The "weigh-in" is more like checking in to a hotel than the "gather around and look at my phat digits--fat in some cases". The leader is friendly, a little aggressively conscious of nutritional intake, and very informative -- especially on nutritional values of food at the Fair... oy. Without being centered around special food you're required to eat, it looks like weight watchers is simply learning -- or remembering -- how not to eat like a fat-ass. This is something I forgot along the way. Probably due to La Madeleine's tomato basil soup... After this past summer, I looked at pictures of myself and decided I don't want to have a chin goatee because I have a double-chin, and and I don't want to be the t-shirt-in-the-pool guy. After my mom had success with WW, I decided I would give it a shot. I decided I would go all out, and attend the meetings. They have an option to only use the online tools, but I had tried that before and 'conveniently kept forgetting to track my progress' while the weight went up and eventually just burned 20 bucks a month. So this time, hardcore, meetings. The meetings I attend have about 30 people, are all women of all ages save myself, my buddy, and one other guy. I don't let that be a deterring factor because I believe this is important. The leader is a guy named Steve who is passionate about WW, funny, warm personality and truly cares about seeing his groups succeed. He's the reason I choose to come back the second week. For those unfamiliar to WW, it calculates the Fat, Carbs, Protein and Fiber of a food to determine a PointsPlus value. You are allotted so many PointsPlus a day depending on your weight and height, then try not to go over those points in a given day. No food is off limits. They even give you 49 'extra' points to play with during the week that they encourage you to use. If/when you exercise, it gives you Activity Points that give you points back. The first week, I lost 7lbs. Six months later, I have lost 25lbs. Ok, so I gained 10 back over the holidays, but I'm in the process of getting it off again. My very best friend from nursing school, Jessica, lost beaucoups of weight with Weight Watchers and used to make us eat WW cheese soup all the time. I liked that soup and she brought my chubby butt to Weight Watchers meetings (which we lovingly called our "support group meeting for fatty's"). 20 years later I'm still an on again off again WW girl. I am only writing this to let you know that the Wednesday 12:15 meeting is by far the BEST meeting I have ever been to in all my years. The leader, Lee-Ann is great. She is caring and smart and seems to truly care about you making this work. She sends awesome emails. And Weight Watchers honestly DOES work, if you actually do it. It's no trickery or voodoo, if you eat healthy shit and eat less bad shit and maybe not drink all your points up, you absolutely WILL lose weight. A lifestyle change we all need. And maybe don't celebrate your 0.4 weight loss by having Taco Joint across the street for lunch. Nod. read more
