There's a new Planet Fitness in town and its half the distance from our house than our usual…read morelocation. It had been a while for me; 2025 was some year health wise. But today was a great breakthrough getting back to the gym. Friendly staff and a diverse clientele. Today I felt the burn! But not to overdo things this first day back of workouts. I got in a good 45 minutes. And like every Planet Fitness all of my favorite purple exercise equipment was there. We plan on making this spot a more frequent gym stop.

I've been coming to this Planet Fitness location since it opened, and overall I like the gym. It's…read moreclean, has the equipment I need, and most staff interactions have been positive. However, I've now had two uncomfortable interactions with a front desk employee named Deborah that left me feeling frustrated, unwelcome, and honestly unsafe. The first interaction happened while I was on the treadmill. Deborah approached me and told me that "someone complained" because I didn't have headphones on while watching something on my phone. I completely understand the common courtesy of using headphones in the gym, which is why I purposely chose a treadmill with empty machines on both sides of me, kept the volume extremely low, and even had captions on. The gym music, conversations, treadmills, and equipment were all significantly louder than my phone. When I explained this, Deborah herself responded, "Oh I know, I can't even hear it and I'm standing right here." That immediately confused me, because if she couldn't hear it standing next to me, I didn't understand why it was being treated like a complaint issue. When I asked who complained, she said she didn't know. The only people near me were a few women talking loudly together, so the situation felt strange and unnecessary. What bothered me most was not the reminder itself, I understand policies and courtesy rules exist. What bothered me was the approach. It felt like she blamed an "anonymous member complaint" instead of simply asking me directly to put headphones on. I later told Deborah that I didn't appreciate being told a story that didn't make sense when she could have just communicated honestly and respectfully. The second interaction happened when my app wasn't working and I asked to check in using my phone number. As I was walking away, Deborah stopped me and repeatedly pushed me to take a photo for the account. I told her multiple times that I was not comfortable doing that, but she continued pushing and giving reasons that were not accurate. I explained that I've been coming here for months without issue and that my home gym already has my photo on file. She incorrectly insisted this location was my home gym, even after my app showed otherwise. Again, the issue is not that she wants to do her job thoroughly. The issue is the way she communicates and disregards boundaries after being told "no." Not everything needs to become confrontational or overexplained. There's a difference between being helpful and making members feel uncomfortable. These interactions have created a negative feeling every time I come in and see her working. I hope management addresses the importance of respectful communication and listening to member concerns and boundaries. If management would like to contact me directly, Deborah knows exactly who I am.

They're knowledgeable, keep things safe, and still push you to get the most out of the workout. Jessica is super kind, encouraging, and actually remembers people, which you don't see everywhere. She creates a really comfortable, welcoming environment and explains things in a way that makes you feel confident. Robert's classes are always waitlisted and it makes sense. He challenges you without overdoing it and keeps workouts creative, especially with the reformer. Sarah is great too, very positive energy, especially in the mornings. I just wish I could take more of her classes. Walter is also really knowledgeable and just very solid overall. Shoutout to the front desk and management team. Gail, the general manager, is amazing and has been so supportive of my fitness journey. She really makes people feel seen and comfortable. Roberto, the assistant manager, always checks in and remembers details, which makes the gym feel more personal. Dustin is also super helpful anytime I've needed anything. Mark, who I did a trial personal training session with, was really nice and encouraging and made it a great first experience. The smoothie spot inside is also really good, which is a nice bonus. Overall, it's just a really solid gym with people who care. Makes it easy to keep showing up.

LA Fitness at this location is disappointing, and the current rating makes sense. Management is…read moreunprofessional and seems disconnected from members' needs. Policies are applied inconsistently, and even management appears unsure of the club's own rules. Equipment is outdated and poorly maintained, yet instead of fixing or replacing worn machines, management has made questionable decisions--like removing spaces members actually use and enjoy. Communication is poor, customer concerns are dismissed, and service quality has clearly declined under current management. For a gym that charges monthly fees, the experience does not match expectations. Until management improves, equipment is upgraded, and member feedback is taken seriously, this location is hard to recommend.

My son already had comfort in the pool and could swim without knowing specific strokes so he is growing in that way. My daughter who didn't want to put her face in, now in flipping and swimming underwater with comfort and after just 3 weeks. The best part is the classes have been free or just $10 because of LA County's everybody swims program. One thing to note is that the instructors change in the classes. Sometimes you'll have an instructor for a few days in a row. But often they're switched from day to day. I could see that being an issue for some as it could be hard to track progress. But it hasn't been a problem for us. I also like that it gets my kids used to learning from different people. I also feel that my kids are safe because there is always an extra life guard outside of the pool watching them during classes. The facility feels clean considering how many people go through it. We took afternoon classes and it didn't feel busy. My friend took an evening class and she said it was very busy. I hear that the open swim times can get very busy too. Parking is plentiful though some of the spots are small.

The kid splash area is pretty small and wasn't in use when we were there because the whole facility was being occupied by the swim meet. Not much shade around the aquatic center but it was fine as we were there in winter- probably scorching though in summer. The bathrooms are pretty clean and relatively new. Plenty of parking in the surrounding sports complex which includes a nice skate park and multiple play structures with plenty of shade and grassy areas for play.

It's open 24 hours & you reserve your classes on the app. They have 5 sauna rooms for what they call ISO classes (different workouts like yoga, Pilates, barre) & 3 for HIIT classes (cycle, rowing, sitting elliptical). You can book as many classes as you want & you just show up & follow the video. You're almost always alone in the sauna, so it's like a private workout. They also have an area for weights with dumbbells, kettlebells, a cable machine & TRX. Lastly, the owner & all of the staff are super nice & welcoming regardless of your fitness level. They're always smiling & greet you when you walk in & leave. I always see them cleaning too. Overall, this is an excellent option for someone that likes flexibility with scheduling & likes to workout alone (although I have seen friends & couples take classes together). 100/10 recommend.
