This gym is fine, honestly not sure what everyone's complaining about. I was at Gold's from day…read moreone, and since becoming EōS, it's stayed pretty much the same. Machines need repair sometimes, it happens, that's gym life. I'm there four days a week and never saw a cable machine down for six months, and there are several to pick from anyway. Yeah, the pec machine seat needing to be propped up for months is very annoying, but there is another pec machine, and several other ways to work pec muscles, so not sure what the deal is. So mention it to management and move on. Dirtier now? I see vacuuming and mopping going on throughout the day. If you want it spotless, wipe down the machines yourself after you use them (which most people don't), that's on you too, not just staff. Paper towels have always been there when I needed them, never seen them run out. Does it happen from time to time? Probably, but they have three areas on the second floor to get paper towels and spray bottles, and they're not all out at the same time. Can't speak to the showers, but the men's locker room sink area gets the same so-so attention it always did under Gold's. Nothing's changed there, so not sure why that's suddenly a new thing EoS brought in. It does get busy and sometimes you wait for a machine, welcome to literally every gym in every city. That's not a flaw, that's just what a popular gym looks like. But aside from a broken machine or two (which they have other machines you can use anyway), the real problem stopping people from working out is people camping out on a machine, scrolling on their phone for five to ten minutes while others wait. You're there to work out. Work out, then move on.

I was first introduced to Matthew Cather by my 17-year-old son 11 years ago, and at the time, I thought it was the toughest workout I had ever attempted. I started training with Matthew twice a week, and now I train five times a week--growing not just physically stronger but also mentally resilient. As a 52-year-old, I firmly believe that the key to longevity is a combination of weight training, strength, mobility, and conditioning--all of which are seamlessly incorporated into our program at Cozmosize. The dedication, expertise, and sense of community here make every session both challenging and rewarding. I feel truly blessed to be part of the Cozmo family, and I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to elevate their fitness journey!

But today was a great breakthrough getting back to the gym. Friendly staff and a diverse clientele. Today I felt the burn! But not to overdo things this first day back of workouts. However, I've now had two uncomfortable interactions with a front desk employee named Deborah that left me feeling frustrated, unwelcome, and honestly unsafe. The first interaction happened while I was on the treadmill. Deborah approached me and told me that "someone complained" because I didn't have headphones on while watching something on my phone. I completely understand the common courtesy of using headphones in the gym, which is why I purposely chose a treadmill with empty machines on both sides of me, kept the volume extremely low, and even had captions on. The gym music, conversations, treadmills, and equipment were all significantly louder than my phone. When I explained this, Deborah herself responded, "Oh I know, I can't even hear it and I'm standing right here." That immediately confused me, because if she couldn't hear it standing next to me, I didn't understand why it was being treated like a complaint issue. When I asked who complained, she said she didn't know. The only people near me were a few women talking loudly together, so the situation felt strange and unnecessary. What bothered me most was not the reminder itself, I understand policies and courtesy rules exist. What bothered me was the approach. It felt like she blamed an "anonymous member complaint" instead of simply asking me directly to put headphones on. I later told Deborah that I didn't appreciate being told a story that didn't make sense when she could have just communicated honestly and respectfully. The second interaction happened when my app wasn't working and I asked to check in using my phone number. As I was walking away, Deborah stopped me and repeatedly pushed me to take a photo for the account. I told her multiple times that I was not comfortable doing that, but she continued pushing and giving reasons that were not accurate. I explained that I've been coming here for months without issue and that my home gym already has my photo on file. She incorrectly insisted this location was my home gym, even after my app showed otherwise. Again, the issue is not that she wants to do her job thoroughly. The issue is the way she communicates and disregards boundaries after being told "no." Not everything needs to become confrontational or overexplained. There's a difference between being helpful and making members feel uncomfortable. These interactions have created a negative feeling every time I come in and see her working. I hope management addresses the importance of respectful communication and listening to member concerns and boundaries. If management would like to contact me directly, Deborah knows exactly who I am.

Once I completed that, I wanted to maintain my cardio program, and joined the Henry Mayo Fitness and Health Center. I really like this place, for several reasons. I can actually get free memberships at several local gyms through my insurance, but I'd rather pay to go here. It's a more mature crowd, with most people either doing some sort of rehab or physical fitness. It's not a social club or hang out, everyone is serious about what they're doing. I don't have much experience in gyms, but from what I see, they have plenty of cardio machines (treadmills, crossfits, arm ergos, upright and reclining bikes) as well as weight stations with both plate weights and resistance. There are free weights as well and all kinds of support stuff like mats, stretch bands, etc. The place is spotless, with constant cleaning going on, and everyone seems to take the time to wipe their stations down after use. I don't use these areas, but they have beautiful locker rooms, showers, basketball courts and a pool that is half indoor/half outdoor. The staff is friendly and helpful, and available for personal training if you desire. They have tons of classes from spin to balance. Downstairs, there is an advanced weight training room. I go three times a week and always look forward to it. I highly recommend you check them out.

I like them individually, but…read morethis is the first studio I've tried that has both, and I think it's now one of my favorite workout experiences. You get a well-rounded workout from balancing on the Power Plate, which vibrates to help activate your muscles and supposedly also helps with your bone density. I also find the challenge of staying on the plate while it's vibrating also improves your balance. It feels weird and tricky and a little odd at first, but once you get the hang of it, it feels as if you've done a much more intense workout in a much shorter amount of time because of the added challenge. After the Power Plate, you move to the reformer, where you tone the muscles you use everyday but might not realize you are! The reformer is also a challenge for your balance, yet low-impact and gentle on your joints. The studio is immaculate and I love the stylish space. The instructors are welcoming and will help with form corrections and give tips if you need to modify the exercises. Parking on this street is sometimes hard to find, but I've always been able to find a space in the studio parking lot (it's down the street behind a gated area and there are signs indicating which spots are the Grit + Gratitude studio parking spaces).
