My room was in terrible condition, there were problems with the A/C, breakfast was cold. They don't have maintenance people onsite after hours, so the custodian was sent to my room to try to fix the A/C (he failed). I complained to the manager, and she promised me a 30% refund on the room charges, but I didn't get that until I called Expedia myself. read more

I wear a bite guard at night to help with jaw clenching. When I work up, I took my bite guard out and placed it in it's storage tray before going to the bathroom. I returned 5-7 minutes later only to found a mouse had deposited feces directly onto my mouthpiece (see photo). So if you don't mind mice defecating all over your stuff, including your sanitary medical devices, this hotel might be a bargain. read more

Suite was literally nothing like the advertised picture, there were residual hairs in the bathroom from the previous guest indicating it had not been properly cleaned, and the front desk is so lazy and unhelpful it's actually crazy. They made US go search through the entire hotel for a luggage cart for our stuff because they "didn't know where they were." Breakfast is ok though. read more

My friend and I stayed here for one night while attending a tango marathon in the area. The price was good for what was provided. There was a 24-hour food mart which didn't have much, but it had just what I needed when nothing was open at 2:30am when the marathon ended. There was a good-sized mini fridge in the room and a microwave. The water in the room's bathroom reached a high temperature very quickly, so that was unexpected, but just be cautious. The beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of outlets in the room. The free breakfast was fine (tator tots, scrambled eggs, sausage links, condiments, oatmeal packets, various breads, juice, and Seattle's Best coffee). In the room, the Keurig machine came with Green Mountain and Earl Grey k-cups. The air conditioning in the room also worked just fine. The pool area looked nice, but the jets in the hot tub didn't work. The front desk said they were waiting on a part. The decor could use some updating, but there were plenty of places to sit in the lobby as this hotel also had a conference center. When in the area again, I wouldn't mind staying here again. My friend and I also needed some more time in the morning, so they let us extend our checkout by 30 minutes which was perfect. read more

A dump! Because of covid everything was shutdown. No pool or fitness room. Covid rules but cleaning staff not wearing masks. Front desk allowed customers to not wear masks eventhough signs said otherwise. Room was not clean and old kcup left in keurig. Couldnt sleep because light outside door shined in and curtains were too short to blackout. Elevator also was broken. I was supposed to get king bed but they had given them all out except for a room they said to not take. Since no breakfast buffets allowed they gave a pathetic bag with apple juice, fruit cup and breakfast bar. I paid with points but they tried to charge me a nominal fee. They eventually corrected it but wouldnt give me a zero balance receipt. Go elsewhere. read more

April is amazing ! When I came to this small town I didn't expect much but she made the entire experience worth while. Tried to find a quick place to eat and only fast food was McDonalds. The hotel bar did not have a chef so went without food. Never stay here again. Went for 6:30am breakfast and all they had ready was cereal and pastries. Couple that with 3 Spanish channels 2 news 3 local 3 showtime it was a good thing I brought my chrome book to watch a movie. I would give this a negative if I could. Was given a room key to an occupied room. Man in the room was naked and said some explicit words along with he outta kill me. Front desk told me to calm down it wasn't that big of a deal. Then they moved me to the tower away from my entire group. The next day the put me in a room with 2 double beds. A single king size was ordered months ago. Room was dirty. The cleaning staff took no notice with a do not disturb sign. Knocked my wig on the floor and left it. When you turned the heat on it smells of mold. Toilet not bolted down the was was so hot it left red marks on me and caused my hair dye to run. Office staff was rude and the food was horrible. EW! This place is a freaking DUMP! We weren't expecting much for the price, but this was well below our expectations. It starts in the hallways with litter on the floor, broken and loose door knobs, and doors that look like they were pried open. Our room wasn't any better. The a/c "worked" but didn't put out cool air, the bathtub was messy, and the drain plug looked snapped out. I didn't even want to think about how filthy the sheets were. TLDR: DO NOT GO HERE- MOLDY AND NEEDING RENOVATIONS. I wish I could give zero stars. We reserved our room online- from the pictures it was spacious and clean and when we got there we got a tiny motel looking room. The vents were caked in dust and there were crusty stains on the bed and floor. We told the front desk and they upgraded us to a new room- which looked more like the pictures online when we booked. We did a quick glance over and everything seemed fine so we went to the pool they heavily advertise. The jacuzzi was closed because THE WALL BEHIND IT WAS CRUMBLING and the floor to the pool was coming up. There also was a very suspicious brown stain on the wall where the open shower was. When we returned to our hotel room, we decided to open the curtains to find the wallpaper sagging and ripped. We looked and there was MOLD. Immediately we packed up, told the front desk and at least they gave us a refund-I hope. We haven't actually received it yet. read more

The hotel has undergone renovations. It was Holiday Inn with an atrium years ago. When we arrived yesterday evening, no one was at the desk. We were behind another couple with a baby. About five minutes later, it turns out that the woman we passed outside on the way in, who was burning a smoke, was the front desk clerk. Of course no one could tell she worked there, because she was in plain clothes, with no name tag. She gave us room 113, which reeked like a giant ashtray. We went back to the desk, and asked the smoker for another room. Without so much as an "I sorry," she gave us room 121. On max cold, the a/c was putting out lukewarm air. There weren't any towel rods on the bathroom, so we had to put a hand towel on top of the toilet tank, so we had a place to pit our bath towels. read more

We recently stayed here as we were traveling thru . As soon as you walk in the door, a strong chlorine smell, then found out the pool was real close to the front desk and not in a separate room. The price was a special deal thru The University of Michigan Hospital. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. Front desk person was very nice and helpful. Decent free breakfast starting at 6:30. This could be a 3-4 star rating if they poured money into it. I walked around looking for an ice machine and the bartender told me there not a working ice maker so he filled the bucket. Hmmm. Our bathroom was really small. And had a huge crack with paint peeling. See picture. If the owners would put money into this place, it could be really nice. This is a badly run hotel. We had a leaking toilet causing mold. Showed maintenance. Was still leaking on checkout. (2weeks). Hot tub never worked. Phone didn't work for first 3 days until we insisted someone figure it out. A/C worked sometimes. Very warm to sleep. Outside doors are unlocked so homeless people come in to eat. Front desk staff unfriendly and poorly dressed to meet the public. (Sweats are common) Talked to manager whose response was "you can check out early". I have never had an experience like this. Teetering on the edge of 1-2 stars. I went with 2 stars because it's quiet, good location, seems relatively clean and staff was nice. Probably the worst hotel shower I've ever had. We have a handicap room with barrier free shower and adjustable shower head. Tile is gross. Shower head does not work properly. See picture. Big disappointment. $250+ per night with tax is insane!!! A clean decent room is expected. Charge me $89 and I'll reconsider this a 3 Star place for the price. The whole town is booked for the football game. When we called "nope totally booked!" This was the most dismal hotel I've ever stayed at. That includes some by the hour motels when I was a teenager partying. No lie. Where do I start. Let me first say most of the front desk staff are wonderful. Nathan in particular was great. Another girl was not. So you get what you get. First - I am not a mental patient and I do not need to sleep in a cell where one slip of the curtain means all sorts of creeps could see me sleeping or moving in my room. The room I stayed in has floor to ceiling glass to the hallway. What? Seriously I felt like Arnold should be breaking me out any minute so we could fight Skynet. NO natural light. Dim lighting in the room means I felt like I was being punished or in a cave. The AC. Or lack there of. I woke up each day with a heat headache since it was August and the air didn't work. It blew something out of the disgusting (dirty and full of yucky stuff) unit on the floor but at best it was warm air with a bit of a chill. Maybe 78-80. It was miserable to sleep in. I asked for it to be fixed. This is day 3 and we will see if anything happens. The toilet wobbled a bit and was angled like whoever put it in did not know how to properly install a toilet. This is minor but irritating when seated. The breakfast was just ok. The lady who refilled the coffee pot was very nice. Food was bland and it just had a feel of not being too clean. It was a smaller space and also felt a bit dingy with the lighting. Ok but there are much better. Then the shuttle. Flakey. And the front desk staff can be rude about it. Our group supposedly assured that he shuttle would be available but half the time it wasn't. Then when I ask I get a lecture about how I have to schedule in advance. That's not my understanding from the day before but whatever. So I end up calling an uber because this place is NOT any sort of walkable to UM. Then I go outside to wait for my $8.50 ride and two minutes later the shuttle pulls up GOiNG to the place I'm going after I've been told I have to take a uber since the shuttle is not available. Seriously?? My colleagues hop on the shuttle and I get to pay for an uber. The last thing. Walking. Getting across 94 is life threatening . There is no crosswalk even to get to the strip mall 1/3 mile away. Awful. It would be easy to slot in some sort of Ped Xing somewhere. So you really need a car if you stay here. I would never stay here again and it's only the very nice staff that keep me from screaming down the house at how sub par this hotel is. Stay anywhere else. Anywhere. read more

A grand, old dame that has fallen on hard time. We always looked past the rough appearance and chose to stay here during our Ann Arbor pilgrimages. Unfortunately, management's neglect is starting have an impact. The safe in our room didn't work, the microwave (in the room) kept turning off and on with a loud beep in the middle of the night (power outages?), the hot tub was broken during our stay and the elevator broke down. After some power outages in the area I was looking for a hotel for my Mama. I'm in California and I wanted to ensure she'd be comfortable for the night. Melissa B at the front desk was AMAZING. I called twice and emailed back and forth with her as I was paying for the room from a different state. She was thorough and very kind to not only me but also my Mom and brother when they arrived as well. My bf and I had a weekend planned in the thumb...we were in our motel room for an hour and then his work called him in (he works in Ann Arbor). So he called this hotel to see if there were any openings. I don't know if it was a last minute deal or what, but it was $60 on a Saturday! It was cheaper than the motel, and nicer! It's after ten pm and it's quiet on the 3rd floor, no screaming kids or crazy parties. The people at the front were nice. Clean place. Even a Keurig coffee pot! Larger than usual hotel fridge so this foodie can fit all of her food. Microwave. Decent sized safe in the room. I'd recommend this place! read more

Wyndham....Schmyndham Stayed here again and I think the place is getting worse. Pool was dirty. Workout room sucked. One treadmill was completely broken and the other not working properly. No wipes to clean equipment off or even towels. The workout room is a tiny closet. The hotel is old and needs to be updated. ...Or torn down and rebuilt. The rooms are small with old carpets and poorly redone bathrooms. They put our family of four in a tiny room with two double beds and we did not sleep well. Everyone thinks Wyndham is above average but they keep buying these crappy old holiday inns, slap their name on it, and keep operating as usual without bringing them up to speed. It is a disgrace. Reading the reviews before staying here had me a bit apprehensive prior to my stay this past weekend. Needless to say, my stay put all of my previous apprehensions at rest. It's an older property but everything was clean, and adequately maintained. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Had no issues, like last reviewer. If you are expecting The Four Seasons for a Super 8 price, you will be disappointed. Of course during the coronavirus, many hotels have closed pools, limited breakfast options, etc and the Wyndham Garden Ann Arbor is no different. It's in everyone's best interest that these things are closed, so I saw nothing wrong with the hotel proctecting mine, as well as everyone else's health as much as possible. Did see some people without masks but it's such a trigger these days, it's best to just keep your distance like everyone says. The hotel is fairly nice and welcoming. Clean rooms & friendly staff paired with a great price! They do charge a security deposit, but it dropped off quickly. Exactly what any real traveler would want and expect. read more

Definitely a under rated hotel, I was hesitant on my way here because of recent reviews. My 2nd day here and I really appreciate the fact it's not overbooked, while in other hotels in other places I've visited its usually super loud and busy. While a Saturday so far it's just my family at the pool. The free breakfast was above average by far for the free breakfasts ive seen at other hotels, rooms maybe a little out dated but absolutely serve the purpose. Let me preface this by saying that this is my second stay at this hotel. I stayed here for three days back in the fall. I have gathered that there seems to be two types of rooms here, relatively normal rooms on floors 3 and above, and weird "motel" esque inner rooms on the first and second floors. When I stayed here in the fall I stayed on the 3rd floor, it was quite lovely. The room was a good size, bathroom a good size. Pretty okay. They seemed to be in the middle of some renovations or something at the back end of the hotel, and it looked a little shabby. The entrance did not require a swipe, which I thought was strange, because it was rather secluded. This stay, I stayed on the outer first floor, where it looks literally like they threw outerwalls up around a motel. So, I had a door that exited to a hallway. I had windows with drapes, but opening them would have exposed my room to people walking by in the hallway. Consequently, the room was very dark. Even with all the lights on, it was dark in there. I had a difficult time putting makeup on in the morning. The room had a strange layout, forcing the person on the left to squeeze between the wall and the bed (there was 5-6" of clearance) and the vanity was not big enough for more than one person's tolietries (it was a king size room). There is some type of old sprinkler structure mounted on the wall across from the bed. It was also quite small. The bathroom was excruciatingly small. The door swings into the bathroom right in front of the toilet, if you have the floor towel in front of the shower, it is largely a cluster. There are limited hooks/bars for rehanging damp towels. Everything in this place is broken. The hot tub did not work. The washers (which I needed to use) also broken. The desk chair in my room? Wouldn't stay at my preferred height. The TV? Many channels wouldn't come in. In terms of the "soft" aspects of the hotel, also a disaster. When I checked in at 545 on my check in date, they were running behind getting rooms turned over. Apparently, there had been big parties the night before and they were dragging getting rooms cleaned and prepped. Lynette, the bar tender was great. I overheard her explain she was going on vacation and the next day, her replacement was definitely not on her level. I had planned to get food and a beer (while waiting for my food to come out). It was a bit before the bar closed, but I was planing to take it all back to my room. She seemed weary and not really the type who should be working at a bar. She nearly messed up another parton's order by not really listening to the order (for a drink). In the five days I have been here, the breakfast has been the same every day: sausage links, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, potatoes, typical baked goods, waffle station, some cereal, some juices, oatmeal. Over the course of my stay, the hot tea selection dwindled, by my second to last day, we were down to cran-orange and sleepy time, the latter of which is not a great choice first thing in the morning. The thing that kind of drives me nuts about the breakfast dining area is that everything is sticky. I noticed it first with my shoes, making that tacky sound walking around. But, the tables are sticky. Just as a little science experiment, I sat at the same table multiple times throughout my stay, and the edges of it were tacky. It seems like maybe the people cleaning up the dining area don't use appropriate cleaning solutions for cleaning the tables? Also, there are unnecessary stairs, where you have to walk up and then down into the dining area. Not sure if there is a ramp anywhere. Overall, I was fairly disappointed with this stay. I raved about how great the hotel was to my husband (based on my last stay) and when we got to the room, I felt like I had been tricked. Not sure I would stay here again. When I come to A2, I am mostly doing stuff at the university. Not sure that this hotel is worth the extra time and energy one has to spend getting downtown. read more

Stay FAR away from this hotel. First, if you're thinking that this is a proper hotel with doors that open to the interior then be forewarned that you may end up with a 1970's motel-style room (with large windows beside the door that allow full visibility of the room unless the dingy curtains, that still allow light into the room around the edges, are pulled shut) that open directly to the parking lot. I received a room like that and the interior security latch was broken. When I say broken, I mean that the part that attaches to the door frame was completely missing. Imagine...a ground-floor room that opens directly to the outside with no security latch. Now imagine that the door jamb looks like it had been crow-barred a few times already. You get the picture. This was no joke. Second, there was a dead bug underneath the desk. At least it was dead! Oh and the desk was in a corner with a fairly thick cob web...as if the area hadn't been dusted for months...and maybe years. Third, how DO light switches get so filthy? I've never seen that, especially at a hotel/motel. I felt the need to wash my hand after touching the light switch. It was THAT gross. Fourth, there was black mold around the edge of the tub. Does this place ever clean these rooms? I. THINK. NOT. This place has a pool and hot tub. I can't imagine what might be floating around in THERE! This was the most unsanitary room I've ever seen. This hotel might be worth the slightly overpriced rates if you book for a football weekend 6 months before the game, but when it gets within two months and especially after the college football season begins the jacked up rates make it more cost effective to book in Novi or some other Detroit area location within 30 minutes or so out of Ann Arbor (if you make it close to the Interstate). The rooms, pool, and lobby areas are acceptable, renovation hasn't completely ameliorated the aging edifice. I've found the staff to be good, polite, helpful. Overall whether this hotel is acceptable or not depends on the rates, it's worth it for budget rates, but I don't think it's worth the inflated rates when the Wolverines are playing at home. read more

We went February 14-15th of 22 the hot tub was closed for no reason the pool was freezing we had footprint in our bathroom which mean the floors were not cleaned we found insects dead in the carpet and the sheets were 110% not changed but luckily we brought our own just in case.
