We had to cancel our trip because of medical procedures that we're going to have instead. We finally got our money back, minus the service fee, after getting different responses from Simply Steamboat associates and having information sorted out by the manager. However, the travel insurance we bought was suppose to help us get back our service fee. The travel insurance is mentioned on Simply Steamboats site in multiple places and highly recommended....but it's such a scam. Even after giving the medical information for my wife's upcoming procedures, the insurance company wants the doctor to fill out a form that says the doctor "suggested" cancelling the travel plans. So it won't matter what medical procedure you have, this insurance company will hold your claim until the form is submitted and the doctor says they were the ones to suggest you cancel your trip. Why would Simply Steamboat associate with such a scam Insurance company.

Ironically Jodi G, the owner of Simply Steamboat, remarks on the company web page they are "Loving…read morelife in Steamboat". I have no doubt as no one at Simply Steamboat appears to do much of anything but "loving life". It seems to leave little time for property management which purportedly is their job. Repairs are promised, balls are dropped, buck are passed. Simple repairs, requiring one or two days of effort, go unaddressed for many, many months, despite repeated promises (a. Sadly, property owners must resort to endless emails trying to get Simply Steamboat off the dime leaving much less time for their "loving life in Steamboat". I would strongly advise avoiding Simply Steamboat-their (now three) one star reviews were not by accident. UPDATE: I am happy to report that SImply Steamboat eventually responded to my criticisms and did so in a professional and prompt manner. Hence, despite the extremely long delay in getting their attention, once engaged they did a good job. Hopefully in the future issues can be addressed without the turmoil. We are all aware of the staffing and other challenges of working in a mountain town but even those can't excuse years of unnecessary delays. Simply Steamboat can get it right. Let's hope going forward they will. Based on my more recent experiences, I would give them a 4 star review.

They upgraded me to a two bedroom unit that was bigger than some apartments I've had in the past. The master bedroom had it's own full bathroom. The kitchen has a stove, oven, fridge, and all the utensils you may need. The dining table seats six comfortably. Each bedroom has it's own TV as well as the one in the comfortable living room. There's a small patio with chairs with a grill outside the sliding glass doors in back. There's a hot tub on premises but I didn't get a chance to take advantage of it. Walmart, a grocery, and restaurants are all within walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful at check-in. After a rough day on the road this was a welcome respite.

When I make reservations, I always request upper floor, away from the elevators. 99.99% of the time my wish is granted. Wyndham does not play Westley to my Princess Bride. I booked several months out and at the time the resort was only at 61% capacity. Doable? Not really. Sad face. On top of getting placed beneath circus elephants, we were smack dab at the corner of the elevator. As one can imagine, sleep was next to impossible. Another down side was the lack of knowledge the front desk had with my questions. What we were told was that the downtown shuttle bus ran every 10min until 2-3a. Umm...it was 11p and the schedule at the stop said no go after 1108p. So we called the resort (as the front desk recommended) and lo and behold, no property shuttle service during the Summer months. Don't expect Uber/Lyft either. That service is obsolete in the after hours. If you want to drink downtown, close yourself off by 1030p otherwise you'll end up walking in your gorgeous high heels for 2.5mi. That or just don't drink so you can drive yourself. Our room was clean, stocked well (linens and cleaning supplies) and a high five thank you to the staff for minding our DND. That's where the kudos end, unfortunately. Another downer....there were no luggage carts EVER for our arrival and departure but silver lining, we got a good workout.
