So I think your purpose here largely affects whether it's a good fit for you. The strongest factor here is location. It's WAY off the boardwalk, essentially a private beach. Also can book a room with a balcony overlooking the beach (we did). Parking is also free with stay and there's a garage-another positive. The area is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of Virginia Beach. Also, the indoor is nice with hot tub but very small. There's an outdoor pool too but it's also small. That's kind of where the positives end though . I will say on our two-night stay, I did not see any bug-even an ant-in our room. Housekeeping does not clean the room and only empties the trash so if you need anything ask the front desk. They are generally friendly. Our two double bed room has definitely seen better days. The beds seemed relatively newish but everything else very dated. We also had a handicapped room and that included the bathroom so it was just a massive tiled room with no borders. Not great for those that don't need that. Breakfast is not included. Be prepared. There's a general restaurant here but we only ate breakfast once and chose to not eat here again. TLDR: you are paying for private beach access. If that's your priority, reserve your room. If not, keep looking. read more

HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED!! As I pulled up to the Wyndham Virginia Beach Ocean Front hotel, I observed there was plenty of parking and the hotel appeared dated. When I checked into the room I observed the air conditioner was dislodged from the wall, the light in tbe kitchenette was inoperable, the know for the hot water was missing on the faucet, and there was a leak at the faucet. I reported these issues. The following day I returned to my room. There was a plumber in my room with big machines. He mentioned that he had to remove the plumbing in order to fix the leak. I went to the front deck and asked when the leak will be fixed. The 2 people at the front desk were not wearing name tags. Come to find out the names of the 2 people at the front desk were Kameron and Dani. Cameron became upset and informed me they are repairing the leak I reported and they had to turn the water off in the building while raising his voice leaning over the counter! The plumber Eric, the only reasonable person gave me a free meal pass at the restaurant on property. At the restaurant, I ordered a beer, the glass was broken! The bartender poured the beer into another glass and gave it back to me! I checked out after 1 day! Dani did not want to give me a receipt upon check out. I called corporate and spoke with Ronnie! DO NOT BOOK...I really hate writing bad reviews but this one right here warrants it. This is a ROACH MOTEL! There's fixtures off place and it's just completely RIP OFF for families. If you're on a budget u get it but not this place! I stayed here with my husband and kids and OMG! 1. Upon first arrival I found a dead roach in the door & hubs convinced me it was a dead fly. However, our 13yr found what we thought were ants in his food; he left on the counter for maybe 20mins!! Next day I see tiny bugs seldomly around the sink. First thought was "omg these are baby roaches" but hubs convinced me it was just a minor ant issue. As a person who lived around roaches when I was a very young girl I know wtf a roach is. On our last night as I was on FaceTime with my friend, I saw a big ass mother roach crawl up the wall from behind the couch and when I screamed tried to hit it, it ran back behind! We immediately packed everything and washed all the ish to my grams house to wash. Not to mention we had two joint rooms so our kids in is one and we are in other! They can't say it's an isolated issue bc it's all over! The pool is barely cleaned out it seems. It's just better to stay on the beach or a hated in law than this place! Tonight take something with you! The fact that they only show the suite to lure ppl insane! This place is great to beach link ups but staying absolutely not. I'm sure some of these employees if not all re taking roaches home with them. 2. When we asked for extra towels some how maintenance entered our rooms as our kids were getting dressed talking about a down phone! I cursed their asses out so heavy bc why would you walk in as my daughter is partial clothed. They did come back with towels after that lol, actually twice as many towels asked for. 3. They will not give you plates or forks during room service it's all styrofoam. Came here for a family reunion and there were multiple roaches running around the conference center area where we were having our banquet. Brought the roaches to the front desk and was told "oh those are just water bugs". "Water bugs" are roaches you idiot. I was lied to multiple times and told there was no manager on duty. I left my contact information and never received a call back from the manager Dawn to address my concern. Front desk is useless and they care nothing about cleanliness or customer service. Checked in for a cheer weekend. Upon entering the room, I noticed there were no trash bags in the can. There was unfinished drywall on the bathroom ceiling. The beds were clean and mattresses looked new which was a plus! Now onto the worst part of it all. My husband bent down to pick something up that my daughter dropped under the bathroom sink......only to find 2 SYRINGES WITH NEEDLES EXPOSED hidden in the lip under the sink. Immediately brought my concern to the front desk to be told "what do you want me to do about it, I can say I'm sorry" but unfortunately that wasn't good enough. She placed a call to the staff to get them out of the room while we were gone. Came back 8 hours later, they are still there. I physically took them to the front desk manager and she said she was told by the staff that they were removed from the room. The manager was attentive and kind, but having a toddler running around and into everything surely had me upset especially if she had grabbed them. read more

We found our accommodations pleasant. We had to relocate to a third room after some minor issues. The front desk staff couldn't be more accommodating. Great job Autumn and Kamron. Very eager to please and very professional. Unlike the morning front desk staff. Two men who I found rude and not concerned at all with me or any issue I was having. Not people I would have at the desk representing my company. I wish I knew their names. The hotel is a dated but clean and the location is perfect for a quiet time. It is not located by the boardwalk and is a very residential area which I prefer. The pool area looks nice. Hotel is right on the beach . We travel with our dog and he enjoyed his stay too! I only wish there was a dig friendly inside dinning option. It was too windy to sit outside to eat. Definitely would nice. Once again...thank you Autumn and Kamron. You represented well! read more

I booked a room and was talking to someone inside of my room and the guy at the front desk at 3 am on 03/07/2026 threatened to call the police on me for talking to someone inside the room after he banged on my door twice.... I wasn't loud nor was my tv loude he was rude and hung up the phone on me. Where to start? Well I will say the location and price point was pretty solid, but that's about it for the positives. The rooms are very outdated. Broken bathroom fan, carpets have not been scrubbed in quite some time (the room itself was also half ass cleaned all but 1 day), the amount of weed being sucked into the room through the AC at all points of the day was overwhelming, and the PVC piping railings on the balcony isn't something I would call safe. The pool obviously was not cleaned either due to the band aids that were in there for multiple days before I removed it. However the most disappointing thing was the staff and their hospitality/care. From day 1 they were unaccommodating and unreliable. Multiple calls were needed to request extra stuff for our room. Our second night there was a violent fight next door that I reported to the front desk. They said they would send security up and they never did which made my girlfriend extremely uncomfortable for the rest of our stay as I was the one who had to confront that to diffuse the situation. From then on we could not count on them for anything. Also something as simple as not getting 1 "good morning" or "how has your stay been" from the front desk staff. They, and this company obviously do not care enough to do the basics to make their guests feel welcomed. read more

Our stay was lovely. I do not have a lot of spare time. I pre-plan or have someone plan time away for my family months in advance. The onsite manager Dawn, handled any concerns in a fair, courteous, and professional manner that resulted in as little disruption to my family as possible. I lived in this area most of my life. I have dealt with many of the local hotels for both business and personal reasons. The semi-private beach, easy parking, and nearby lifeguard stations are positives that make staying at this hotel a better option over hotels down toward streets 1-40. My small children were able to enjoy the hotel pool multiple times. I have found that many local hotels will have random pool closures which is inconvenient. This pool stayed readily available and my children, who have very sensitive skin, did not suffer from overly harsh chemicals.This hotel seems to maintain the pool and hot tub with care. Moving about the property at night there are lights with motion sensors in areas that might otherwise be a bit sketchy to traverse. Housekeeping was effective at replacing linens and keeping our space tidy. All in all, I have no complaints. This hotel is quite suitable and the desk staff are patient and accommodating. An OK experience at this hotel. It is perfect for larger families requiring multiple rooms at a reasonable price in North Virginia Beach, however, I believe there are better options in nearby in North Beach if you only require a single room. They have a full restaurant and bar on-site which there seems to be a buzz about. I do like the ample on-site parking: the usual outdoor parking, multi-level garage parking, and covered parking near the main lobby. The covered parking spaces are relatively tight and fill up fast in the early evening, however, are very convenient as the other parking areas are outside of visibility of the main lobby. The garage parking feels too secluded and the ingress and egress doesn't seem very logical as the garage doesn't connect you to the main lobby. There is an outdoor pool and heated indoor pool. The indoor pool is convenient on rainy days as was the case on one of the days I visited. They also offer towels at the indoor pool. I like that there is walk-up access to the beach. Apparently the hotels along this particular side of the beach all contract the vendor that supplies the beach chairs and beach umbrellas at this end of the beach. On the day I visited the beach I was told by the lifeguard that the vendor is inconsistent with their presence on the beach, hence the reason on my beach day all of the chairs and umbrellas were chained up and unavailable for rent. I believe there were enough locals on the beach who knew the how this vendor operated because there were so many beach-goers who brought their own chairs and umbrellas. Keep this in mind for your visit. Thankfully on my beach day there was overcast and it wasn't as hot, so no umbrella was needed. As for the room accommodations, I was disappointed. The rooms were very basic and I'd consider it 2* accommodations. Nothing was updated. My room had a musty, mildewy smell that wouldn't air-out by opening the balcony door even with the A/C running. This is all too familiar and characteristic of low star beach town hotels. The hallways were also humid and had stale air. So much that leaving the front door open for too long would invite the air into your room. Overall an OK experience that could have been much better with a few minor upgrades in quality and customer attention to customer experience, however, I think there are better options nearby to consider. read more

This hotel is located on the beach by 57th Ave away from everything on the strip. If your looking for a quiet place to stay AWAY from everything this is it. The 1st building is where you check in at and the 2nd building is where the rooms, restaurant, and pool are located. There is a parking garage in front and in between the buildings there's another tiny parking lot. The hotel is pretty old and its pretty obvious by the outside. But the room was fine. We stayed on the pet floor which is floors 1-6. It was my friends dog and she was excited she could bring her pet. It did smell like a animal shelter as soon as i got off the elevator. The funk hit my nose immediately. The room didn't smell as bad but the hallway did. Within a few hours i got used to it. Theres a $25 fee for pets and a small deposit required. The rates were super low, $118 was a fantastic price with a beautiful view of the ocean. It was like having the beach all to ourselves. Unfortunately the weather was cold and windy so i didn't make it into the water... But the sound of the waves was awesome from our balcony. They have a restaurant and the indoor pool on the 1st floor. The Surf Club Ocean Grill restaurant is modern and clean. The waiter was nice, he was in a rush so my friend wasn't happy with that. But i understood that it was just him serving and it wasn't a problem for me. I got the $15 smash burger and omg that burger was one of the best i ever had. The bread was buttery and toasted. The meat was seasoned and the fries were hot and seasoned well. Mmmm. Sincerely awesome!! For dinner instead of paying $34 for salmon stuffed with crab i got ala carte' salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and crispy brussel sprouts, which was $24. It was so good. I really enjoyed their food. The menu is limited and a few items are over priced, but i enjoyed what i had... The restaurant staff was nice. The hotel staff don't really engage with the guest, so that was weird.. No hello's or anything from them. But all in all i enjoyed our stay. The prices are about to go up triple, so off season is the best price. I really like that it was quiet in that area. I'd prefer this over the boardwalk area. It was relaxing and nice. Plenty of parking and nice views. There were dirty windows and some things around the hotel that could be cleaner. So there were pros and cons. They are doing construction and painting so it may be more appealing to the eye during the summer. Check them out!! 3 stars for the hotel and 4 stars for the experience!!! read more

Doesn't look like much; a lot less Wyndham and more Beach Motel than I had expected. Parking garage is VERY tight with narrow spaces and driveway. I would not drive a large vehicle, unless you get really lucky with other exterior hotel lot or street parking (not likely in busy season). Conference area was nice, with lovely coffee and beverage service. Temp during the conference was either sweltering or freezing. The hotel's restaurant is GREAT (Separate review for: Surf Club Ocean Grille)! I didn't stay there and can't speak for the rooms. Great for a beach getaway, make sure to stay in the Tower Went down to VA Beach to celebrate a beach wedding for family and friends. We stayed at the Wyndham and it was my 1st experience with a Wyndham property. Pros: The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.  From the front desk team to the event planners everyone was great. They even found a room on the non-oceanview side for the officiant during a packed weekend when they didn't have a reservation. The view from the Oceanfront tower was amazing. I was on the 11th floor which was a perfect view. The small deck was big enough for the chairs provided and was a good perch to sit and listen to the waves and feel a breeze to avoid the heat.  The engineering and maintenance team was friendly and responsive.  I had a shower handle that didn't work. They were there within minutes after my calling the front desk and they fixed the issue quickly. Cons; Although the room was of a comfortable size, the bathroom was a little tight. If I opened the door completely,  it would bounce against the shower rod or you had to step past the door around the toilet in order to close it fully.  There is also a VAST difference between the tower side and the non-oceanfront side. The non-tower section feels like an older style beachfront motel. In the end I recommend the Wyndham as a place for a quick getaway or for a beachfront wedding.  I would stay there again. I just HIGHLY recommend you stay in the Oceanfront view tower. read more

This disgusting place does not deserve one star!. We checked in and first off the pictures this hotel has posted are photoshopped . The pictures look nothing like the inside of the hotel. It is filthy. Lobby floor is constantly soaking wet and muddy and smells like strong chlorine. In our room, Pubic hairs all in the shower, sheets had stains and black marks all over them.there is also no mattress protectors were are mandatory for all hotels. The rugs were full of stains and disgusting. The ceiling had stains of some sort of brown liquid. the smell in our room was like something was rotting mixed with mold and mildew. The hallways on the 18nth floor where we were had no A/C it was musty and mold smelling. There was garbage in the hall ways, chewed up straws and used fork on the floor that room service walked right past. Dirty finger prints all over the windows.everything is out dated and filthy. The worst part that was the part i walked out. I had a cockroach the size of my fist crawling on my face at 4am!!! I jumped out of my sleep and we shook out our things and checked out. I told the front desk there was not one apology and we were rushed off the phone because there were other guest being checked in and they were whispering. I asked for a manager and they said wait until 9am. We paid almost $500 and not even breakfast was included. $22 per person. No beach towels u have to go threw a company on the beach to rent a chair even. Called for a full refund twice the manager finally got in around 10. We got our refund. But not one apology. I spoke to other guests and we all got tricked by the pictures they have posted, other guests spoke about their dirty rooms and could not get their money back. Also there is constant loud music being played and the walls are thin as paper . We got woken up constantly. They give u a parking pass meanwhile you can never find parking because anyone and everyone included none guests were parking in the lot with no pass on their vehicle to go to the beach. It takes forever to find a spot. This was supposed to be a family trip and ours was ruined. We have our toddler with us! . Never come here unless you want roaches crawling on you in your sleep and in your bags !!! Beyond upset and disgusted!. read more

Don't bother calling front desk or maintenance or anyone "in charge" no one cares. Our room phone didn't even work and when the maintenance guy came he asked if we had an earring he could use to fix the phone. The real reason we needed him was because we didn't have any running water in our room in the shower and maybe a light pressure from the sink... so we slept with sand from the beach. No one wanted to compensate us because "no one gets paid enough" honestly what a joke... if you think this is a nicer hotel look the other way the only nice thing about this hotel is the view. I called roughly 3 days in advance to the reservation line to ensure he hotel was dog friendly and that the pool was open. Yes, the hotel is dog friendly and yes, the pools open. We we're celebrating my daughters 4th birthday and she had her heart set on swimming. Our stay date was 04/2021. We arrive and the front desk informs me the pools closed, it's late we've been driving so I suck it up and figure we'll call someone once we get the baby in bed. I called and asked why I was told the pools open, I received a, "not my problem!" Response. The entire hotel reeked of weed. The bathroom was filth... pubic hairs everywhere, a bloody booger on the wall, eh. Thank goodness I bring cleaning products with me. Oh, the AC unit was obviously FULL OF DUST AND LINT! Barf. All and all, our dog was happy. The baby enjoyed the beach. The view was the best part of the trip. I really hope the reservation line steps up communication with the actual hotel. This hotel is definitely not 3star. I don't know how it got that rating on Priceline. We chose this hotel because it accepted dogs which is a definite plus. The hotel is absolutely dated. The carpets throughout were dated, stained, and smelly. The toilet in our room was loose and rickety, and the toilet seat was peeling and gross. The positive is when I called the front desk to inform them, they did send someone up the next day to change the seat. The carpet in the room was old, worn and stained. It also smelled heavily of urine. The side/armchair was also dirty and stained. The white comforter had 3 holes in it. We brought our own sheets and blanket. They did not have a "do not disturb" door hang so I made my own to hang up. The hotel would be better served to update and replace carpet with tile. Especially in the rooms that are reserved for pets. I absolutely love that it was pet friendly. And it's unfortunate that not all pet owners are clean and properly train their dogs. The location was awesome and I absolutely love how dog friendly everything is. The hotel has so much potential. Simply updating and replacing carpet with tile would do wonders. read more

The property's "glory days" passed many years ago - Wyndham Hotel is in need of an upgrade and despite its professional staff, I would look elsewhere for my next visit to Virginia Beach. We decide to go somewhere with water and decided Virginia Beach was the place and we selected Wyndham because of its location, off the main board walk and where dogs are allowed. It is the only reason that they have three vice two stars. We stayed in the property many years ago and had no issues...well, it was over ten years ago and it's apparent that maintenance and improvements have not been made by the property. There are signs of delayed maintenance throughout the property - frayed carpets, peeling paint, etc. things are not quite right. Our ocean facing room provided a great view of the water and special events of the weekend - beach volleyball tournament, live band concert at night playing great music until 2200 so that you can sleep. Due to the COVID restrictions, the gym was closed and since we dined elsewhere, do not know if the restaurants was open or closed. The rooms come with a small refrigerator, but no microwave. The location is great - off the main Virginia Beach Boardwalk (for some, it may not be great as you have to drive to get to the main Va Beach area); staff awesome. However, the property needs updating and until major renovations are made, I would stay at another property. read more

Checked in on Saturday and had to checkout early due to the very rude and condescending conversation with Ms, Precious, the hotel's manager on April 17th. In addition, I was charged $40 on April 16th (checkin) and a second $40 on April 18th (after I already checked out on the 17th). I called and a front desk attendant said, "they weren't sure why I was charged twice, but both charges are just holds that will drop off within 3-5 business days." This has never happened before. It's very concerning to know your credit card is being charged without reason after early checkout. No damage or orders were made to the room, in my unfortunate one night's stay. Now on to the reasons I checked out early. We checked into our oceanfront king bedroom and were met with a very dirty room and the start of misery. I was told the hotel was recently renovated, but it definitely was not for our specific room. Our door to the room didn't shut without us forcing it closed, our bed sheets were soiled and had stains on the pillowcases that I later noticed right before deciding to leave early, the top of the ceiling had brown stuff on it of an unknown substance. The front entrance floor near the kitchen was sticky, the bathroom was clean (thankfully). The remote control was sticky. The balcony window was so dirty that you could barely see out of it. I wanted to switch rooms but after speaking to the manager about another question, I wasn't sure Ms. Precious would accommodate. I decided to checkout early instead. On the 11th floor where we were located some guest decided to use the hall as a play area bouncing the ball, running, laughing and yelling really loud well into the night. Our room had zero soundproofing measures. Some hotels have quiet time rules that are reinforced by mounted signs declaring "family quiet time" between certain times. No such rule. You are on your own. The pool and hot tub is not attended by a lifeguard, so anyone can drink, throw empty bottles everywhere, play loud music, run, jump over your head (that happened) and kids of all ages can jump in the hot tub and nothing will be done. No rules or age/time minimums for anything. If you bring it up, they will double talk and tell you there is a rule and later change it up and tell you if you don't like it you can remove yourself and come back once everyone is gone. The best part of our weekend stay was checking out early on Sunday. This hotel should address the comfort and stay of ALL guest. read more

Jack the shuttle driver was a 12 out of 10! Amazing driver and so cool. We were so impressed by him. Service folks were amazing and staff at the food areas where amazing. Breakfast was a little disappointing. The staff was freaking awesome. Security and premises could be updated a little. Outside entertainment was great. Air conditioning in room was amazing. Bed skirt had some nasty stuff from previous stays on both beds. My recommendations is get rid of those in hotels close to water. Corporate is missing out on some clients. No emergency kits. Staff lacking resources. I think we had some outside visitors that knew cards were not being checked in both pool areas and from the beach. Don't come here if you have ANY allergies. Honestly should be able to give this hotel 0 stars. This hotel needs corporate oversight. Rooms were disgusting. A small amount of mold in a beachfront property is expected, but this hotel had enough mold to get people in our group sick. One person in our group found a mushroom growing in their room! Many rooms were not available at check-in time. Towels that were placed in the basket to be replaced and set outside of the door (as instructed) were not replaced. Staff looked overworked and underpaid and like they've endured the brunt of the negative feedback from guests. Fire alarm went off at 2 am for an electrical fire in the conference area. No surprise because there were exposed wires in several rooms. Thankfully no one was hurt but there was no clear evacuation plan or communication to the other building when the alarm went off. Our section of the building did not have fire alarms in every room so several guests never even woke up for the alarm. Thank goodness it wasn't more serious. The only redeeming quality of the hotel was the restaurant. Great food and great service. This hotel needs a visit from regional or corporate leadership ASAP and repairs need to be prioritized. Horrible Horrible, and I live locally 5 miles down the road , ants in the bathroom, shower fan sound like a freight train, the doors would not open to both rooms on my reservations batteries in the locks had to be changed, mattress was filthy after looking under the sheet, $225.00 after taxes both rooms $450.00 to leave disgusted , door to fridge was falling off, etc. Etc. This place is a dump. Service is horrible. When asked if someone would give us some towels and clean the room we were told they don't do that unless you stay five days. Our bathroom smelled like mildew. First two days there was no hot water in the shower. Restaurant downstairs is in good shape and clean but service is slow. The people working there don't seem to care about anything. Probably short staffed and underpaid. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone for any reason. You will not be happy. For the money, you would expect much better. read more

We stayed at the Wyndham Oceanfront; this was the worst stay ever. They charged my credit card 5 times. The customer service person with the ring in her nose at the front desk was rude and caused the billing error. The sheets had stains, and I called the front desk to have the sheets changed. They advised me that I had to change the sheets because they did not have the personnel to change sheets. The shower head did not move, and there was mold around the tub. Also, the toilet kept running, and it was hair all over shampoo bottles. It would be best if you did not stay at Wyndham Oceanfront. read more

I would not recommend this hotel to my enemy! We went on a family vacation to VA Beach and paid for 2 rooms at this hotel. Despite being directly across the hall from one another, the rooms were completely different! We had to remove sheets from the bed due to stain, tv didn't work properly the entire stay, one room had a microwave and coffee and the other room didn't, when we addressed our concerns to the front desk they said they don't provide these things, trash from previous occupants was found in the room, one room had a beach view and the other didn't despite paying the same price, Elevator stopped working and we're on the 5th floor with elders and small children! The toilet is constantly running and have to lift the top to flush it. The list goes on! I'm completely disappointed! Never again will I stay at any Wyndham property if this is how the building is maintained. Just very disgusting in more ways than one. I would not recommend this hotel to my enemy! I hate to even give this place a 1 star!!! Let me start off by saying my daughter and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Not ONLY did they tack on 300.00 worth of hidden fees on top of 1,100 when we decided to leave they still charged a cancellation fee!!!
