Why are they charging $450 dollar so adopt a puppies and $350 for a adult dog aren't they trying to find homes for these animals?

I went with my best friend to look for a kitty for her spunky kitty at home. We spent many hours looking at and getting to know the staff and kitties. The staff was very friendly and informative. Even had to care for an emergency kitty that came in while we were there. They were very professional and attentive to both the emergency and my friend finding a perfect match. The facility was very clean and all the cats looked very well cared for. My friend ended up adopting Buttons and it was a wonderful experience for both her and I. I would recommend, along with reminding you this facility runs mostly on volunteers. I thank them for stepping-up and helping out in their community! I would highly recommend! read more

The administrator that runs this organization has no clue about animal. when ever you call IF they answer they are always full even though I've been told their cages are empty and can't help you. They are alway looking for donations, getting grants but never assist with animal issues. WHERE is all this money donated going. There is something wrong with the way this organization is being run. I found a young cat in the woods. It was obviously someone's pet because it was clean, no fleas, and allowed me to pick it up. I went to all the neighbors to see if it was theirs; it was not. I called them to take it there and was told I would be placed on a "wait list" after the assessment team member looked it over. WHAT? What was I supposed to do with this poor animal? This shelter is a hoarding nightmare parading as a "no-kill" shelter. I volunteered at the adoption center, and after hearing about the conditions of the shelter in Attica, decided to go see for myself. The shelter is swarming with hundreds of cats, many of whom are feral. From what I've heard, members of the board of directors capture feral cats with the intentions of spaying them and letting them go into a sanctuary, but ultimately they end up living their lives in fear in the shelter. I have also heard that donations do not get used for their designated purposes, which makes me weary about giving money. I have seen cats at the adoption shelter who were suffering and desperately needed to be humanely euthanized kept alive for the purposes of being a no-kill shelter. This is not the way these cats deserve to be treated. Keeping a cat alive just for the sake of doing so does not provide the animal with a good quality of life. When these concerns were brought to the shelter manager and board of directors (consisting of about four people), there only solution was to "expel" those with concerns (many of the volunteers left as a result of this decision) and change the locks at the adoption center. This is an extremely childish way of handling serious concerns. Please, if you are thinking of donating money to this organization, look into more credible places that are more concerned about the welfare of animals, and less about having control. This shelter runs as a dictatorship, which does NOTHING to benefit the cats it claims to save. read more

I adopted Samsom from the Wyoming County SPCA at the Eastern Hills Mall. I actually went in there to drop off some donations and of course, I had to "look around". There was Samsom in his cage looking for a home. He was a little on the ornery side but you could see that he was being very well taken care of at the SPCA. His fur was nice and soft, his cage was nice and clean, and he was definitely well fed. The volunteers gave me all of the background information on Samson and I have to admit, it's been six weeks since I adopted him and he is the most lovable kitty around! He still has a few issues with my other four kitties but we're getting through them. The facility is very clean and the animals are well taken care of. If you're looking to adopt an animal...THIS IS THE PLACE!!!! read more
