But the driving range is really nice and (all of this is coming from someone without any golf knowledge) they have these really cool mats where you dump all your balls and they come up through the mat set on a tee. The mini golf was great. 18 holes. LOTS of water traps but conveniently placed nets to for when your ball ultimately falls in the water. They open at 9 daily which is great when it's going to be a hot day.

I was shooting mid to low 80s pretty consistently before meeting with him and now I am into the high 70's low 80's after a few months of adjusting to changes. Our lessons were more focused on swing mechanics and specific shot types. The 6 hole course is a great time if you only have a half hour or if you are teaching someone new to the game.

Great for the short game (no driver needed here). I never took anything less than an 8 iron out of my bag! Highly recommend!

Ultimately it is well worth the cost. My coach Kevin D. is great. Kevin developed a plan and we worked through a lot of different swing issues. We even did a playing lesson out on the course. I love being able to come in and practice indoors when it is cold/hot outside. I have dropped 2 points off my handicap with the 15 lessons that I took. Looking forward to dropping it some more. Overall I would 100% do it again and I plan on extending my plan out when it's time. If you decide to go this route, you need to put the practice in, if you do not you will have wasted your money. You need to take what you learned in your lesson and practice it and get ready to focus on another topic at your next lesson. Thinking of cost, it is roughly the same as going to any legit PGA level golf instructor. The difference is that you have to pay it all up front at GolfTec. But the added benefit is that you get to come in and practice, using all the technology/equipment, and you do not have to pay for range balls. Final thought, I dropped some money on new golf clubs a year prior to starting at GolfTec. I wish I had taken that money and used it on these lessons first. I would have been much further along than I am now. It's funny that people will spend a bunch of money on equipment and then complain how bad they suck at golf. But they don't want to spend the money on lessons so they can use their shine expensive golf equipment. Just go and do it.

They have the trackman which gives you data on the left like impact video, which shows you the ball route and the impact on the head. It's great for practices! You can book bays with your membership for an hour! It is very worthwhile! I was also surprised to see high top chairs as well at each bay for viewing and resting! Super impressed! They have really good sales on tennis, pickleball, and golf clothes and shoes!! The clearance section had shoes at $40! They have an assortment of new and used clubs and they truly listen to you and think about what would be best for you and not just what kind of sale they can make. I found Hamilton's because I was at a large department store again and felt overwhelmed by all the new club selections and the lack of real knowledge of the sport. I just didn't feel comfortable. So I did a few google searches and found Hamilton's. There wasn't a website or even a review on yelp, but I called and the guy on the phone was very friendly and explained all the items they had at the store. Based on the conversation my husband and I left the big store and headed to Hamilton's . When we pulled up, I have to say I was a little concerned. It's located in a house and from the outside... it doesn't look like a place that would have so many items. But when you walked in you were treated like a family member and the selection was rich in both new and used options. The salesmen was the step-son of the owner, my husband provided him with an overview of my skills and the type of clubs we were looking to purchase. Not once did he try to tell us that I didn't need men's club. He provided us with options of different clubs that he thought I might like based on what I have been playing with and then took us to another building behind the main house to hit golf balls in the simulator. He let me try new clubs and used clubs. There was no pressure to buy new and he was more concerned about asking me how I felt using each club and encouraged me to focus on that and not anything else. He really made me feel comfortable and did not talk down to me. We had not planned on buying clubs, but we did. We ended up buying irons, hybrids and a putter. They were all used and we felt that we got a great deal. We weren't even going to buy the hybrids, but he heard me talk about how much I like using my husbands 3 hybrid and pulled out a set of used hybrids for me to try. I was so thankful.... they were perfect! He also shared that if I decide to get different clubs, I can come back and trade these in towards the purchase of a newer set. They will fit you for clubs and will also re-grip your current clubs. I can't tell you the last time that I felt so at ease with a purchase and I just want to tell everyone I know about how wonderful it was. He said the shop has been there for over 20 years, and I see why. I live about 45 minutes away, but it was worth every minute of the drive. I am a new golfer and going to a large sporting goods shop can be intimidating. My husband and I went to a large golf place in the west end of richmond and ended up leaving because of the way that I was treated. I am a beginning golfer, but I have played sports my entire life and have been using my husbands clubs. I tried a ladies club, but because I swing so hard, I didn't like the give in the shaft. The big named store only wanted to sell me the purple starter set or the pink set. I didn't like being pushed towards a type of club because of color. It was insulting and my husband was so angry at the way I was being treated he told the guy to leave us alone. We told him repeatedly that I wasn't looking for women's clubs, but he insisted on trying to tell me what I should get instead of listening to WHY I wanted the men's clubs instead. All the LPGA players swing men's clubs... this is not unheard of.... we finally just left and we haven't been back. Bottom line.... don't visit the large box stores again.... support small business not only because it's the right thing to do, but because it's the best service, quality and price in Richmond. ACAC gyms are the bomb.com!…read more So this experience was kind of like going to CineBistro to watch a movie and then going to... a regular movie theatre. Once you go to CineBistro with the in-theatre dinner service, crafty cocktails, and comfy chairs, it ruins your moviegoing experience forever. You become a movie theatre snob, if you will. ACAC has the same effect... specifically the Short Pump location. I became a member about a year ago and ACAC Short Pump has been good to me ever since. The rooftop bar and pool, the floor to ceiling windows, the cafe, the sprawling classrooms! All of it is top of the line. I've always been curious about the Midlothian location, but when you live in the West End, traveling to that area is like going to Timbuktu. However, I happened to have a meeting in good ol' Midlo so I packed a gym bag and used it as an opportunity to ch ch check it out. When I first walked in I noticed how large and in charge the space was. I mean, it really was ginormous. But, it looked more like a giant warehouse with a bunch of machines than a health club, which is what Short Pump looks like. Also- I thought the basketball court inside the space was really cool until folks started playing and it got real loud. Real fast. That would be annoying to me if I'm just minding my business on the treadmill 3-4 days a week and I have to hear shoes squeaking and voices echoing. I digress. The one way that Midlothian beat Short Pump? The pools! They have amazing pools and an outdoor water park. Yes, Short Peezy has the rooftop pool, but these were so much bigger. In this case, bigger does = better. Another area that gave Midlothian major cool points? I left my favorite earrings on the stationary bike and didn't realize it until I was already in the car on my way home. I called the front desk and someone had already turned them in! I went to pick them up today and they were safe and sound in an envelope with my name on them. Thanks, Midlothian!

I have been a member for years and one of my favorite things about ACAC Midlothian has been the…read moregroup water classes, especially when they are in the outdoor pool. Unfortunately the facility's priority is the swim team. From late May through July the outdoor pools are used by the team morning afternoon and evening to accommodate families with different schedules. Even our weekly evening class that uses the deep well has been moved inside so the children who aren't on the swim team can play in the pool. Whenever I have brought this up with management they deny that swim team is their priority and say that we must share the pool. I don't think this is a fair statement since swim team has the pool 8-9 hours a day (not including meets)
