So I've been coming here for years and the toys and everything the sell here is all good except for the Pokémon cards. My kid likes to come here and get them but the last time we went they were charging 22 for a pack. Then we had gone to 2 other shops near by ans the exact same pack at both was only $9. When I asked the associate why they cost so much he said that those were popular packs so that tells me that they are just getting greedy. So I will not be buying any packs, if you're looking theres a better place in Alhambra on main and garfield and one on Arroyo pkwy in pasadena. The service is very friendly and they help you find a product to the best of the ability. Remind this is a small collector shop and they may not have everything you look for but they keep in mind with trending collector items and try to be on top of the trending items. 10 years after my initial review and i gotta knock a whole star off this time around. Only come here if you wanna get price gouged. I mentioned this before and I can't stress this enough, do your research before buying anything here as you can legit get almost everything they have here on eBay for way less. That LIONBOT in the glass case is now over 400$ you can go on eBay right now and buy the same exact thing mint in box unopened for $230 Also as of this writing they have two reissues of G1 Optimus Prime MIB priced at 220 and 240 .... a quick search on eBay and you can get the same exact reissues for about 60bux I don't know how this place has continued to be in the mall for so long,its a shame tbh. read more

Their customer service is not the best, almost all the staff members are extremely rude. There have been a few gems here and there who are kind, but majority of the staff is rude to customers. A lot of the workers give customers attitude when it comes to attending its customers. I felt like I was such a bother to them when asking for something. There are many stickers here. There are a lot of Funko pops and toys as well. We really enjoyed all the Nintendo themed plushies and toys. I was across the mall at FYE when I spotted this place. Unfortunately I arrived 10 minutes before store closing, so I didn't get to see the entire store. What I did see was a Funko Pop! fans dream. Plenty of Pops and even some grails that I've never seen that were behind the counter. I didn't compare the grails to PP+G but judging from the cost, they seem to be somewhat on point. They are impossible to take off and they leave a residue that cannot be fully removed without damaging the plastic further. They are destroying their product. Saw this store walking around in the mall and was supper excited when I saw they sold funko pops, bought 5 in a hurry and left when I sat down and actually examined them. 2 of them where extremely fake. I went back and asked for a refund and the lady I asked said there was a no refund policy and that they where shipped directly from funko which is a LIE i could clearly see the color off on the box, there was fm imprint on another and She said i could exchange she probably knew that I wasn't some nieve girl and that i could exchange. I was x-tremely depressed when I found out this astonishing store was closing. I begged them to reconsider but I guess all good things must come to an end. Luckily I gave them my e-mail so they could contact me as soon as they figure out where they're going to reestablish. Hopefully it'll be an even larger place with more remarkable products! The only thing I regret is not discovering this store any sooner otherwise I would have more than 7 action figures sealed and hanging in my room though I still yearn for that $60 Wolverine action figure. Oh, and the prices are incredible! I found a $35 Iron Man figure that costs $70 on Amazon. Amazon I tells you! I plan on visiting this store real soon so I can bid my final farewell to a rare gem. X-Treme Toys - Toy Stores Near Me - Montebello, California

I have a love hate relationship with this business. On one hand I like some priced items as they are often cheaper than resale other times it's the same price as online listings such as eBay, where I bet some of these figures are acquired and resold because on my first visit to this store in October 2021 I purchased a superior octopus marvel legends figure with an extremely creased hanging lid, and apparently has been resealed and marked as new, the figure contained many paint damages and scratches that I only noticed under proper lighting in my room, and considering the unfair no return policy I was left with keeping it, it's still a great figure and was one of my first marvel legends figures at the time. Fast forward to November of that year I went back and saw what else they had, I bought one The Dark Knight Joker funko pop and did not even notice I just purchased a COUNTERFEIT pop figure sold for higher than retail price (I believe it was literally $20), unfortunately the no return policy was kicking my behind again. I gave this store one more chance in January of 2022 when I purchased a marvel legends Iron Spider figure which was in amazing condition and was actually new this time, I decided to speak to an employee about my previous experiences and they seemed to understand me and apologized for the conditions their store was in for a while, which I completely understand may have been due to focus restrictions and products not being readily available for mass retailers or collectors shops. I decided to go back one year later, in January now of 2023 where I made the biggest purchase I've ever made at one of these stores, that being 2 Mortal Kombat Mcfarlane figures, 4 Funko Pops, 1 Transformers figure and 1 DC Multiverse Mcfarlane Figure, as I got home I decided to put everything in my room for a while and come back to it, so I did just that and I opened the funkos...the punisher pop I purchased had its gun in hand come right off..how I have no idea but I had to dispose of it sadly, the ant-man and wasp pops heads were stable but after a brief moment of moving them around the springs launched right off as the heads flew off? (I don't remember that from the Quantumania movie)- the mortal kombat and DC figures were all great though so there's that, the Legacy Laser Optimus Prime I purchased was just...hideously riddled with QC and paint flaws, which I know ain't the stores issue more of Hasbro's fault but still, the return policy being absent would've saved me a lot if I could go in and exchange these damaged items at least, which no one told me about. I went back and explained the problems, I even took the pops in and showed them and some guy there was rude as all hell saying I did it my self and I just wanted money back...even though there's no f-ing return policy. Never again will I return here, and if I do I will ask directly to check the items I'm buying and see if they're faulty before even leaving or buying them. If I could give no stars I would I went in there today with a friend and we were cursed out by an employee named Chris very rude unprofessional should be fired doesn't take suggestions well we suggested that the employees should place all the pop figures in the section they belong in that are on sale and ones that are not when we suggested this he came unglued yelled shouted curse in front of children women and other customers if I did this at my job I would have been fired on the spot no questions asked he should no longer work there with people cuz he doesn't know how to treat them or act professional his boss should fire him. This store is closing soon, but hopefully they will relocate to a nicer location. Apparently, they are losing their lease, and not very appreciative of the management. However, if you love toys, you must make it here before it closes. The great thing about X-Treme is the price. Most of the items are really affordable. But like collectible stores, some items are insane in value. I had good finds here. There is one rule here, if you see something you like and it is cheap, get it! Because it won't be there the next time you come in. The good stuff goes quick. Their selection ranges from American action figure to Japanese plushies. They also have a ton of t-shirts. After going to Xtreme toys, I am left with mixed feelings. I would sum this store up as a browsing store. They have some really cool items in there, mostly figures as well as some vintage toys. If you're an impulse buyer and can afford the inflated prices then this may be the place for you. Otherwise try another place or EBay. You can get the items, in a better condition and possible at a much lower price. Much of their stock looks like it's been through a world cup soccer match. Bend cards, scuffed bubbles. Nothing a true collector would pay for but if you really dig and take your time, you might find something worth getting. As for the customer service, I am in agreement with most of the other posts. The employees there should all have shirts that say, "don't bother me, I'm texting". There is no acknowledgement from any of them to your presence there. I'm not one who likes pressure sales but a "hello, welcome to the store" would be nice. And no they were not helping anyone else. I've been here once or twice before and this seems to be the norm. Weirdly, most of the items were behind the front counter. But the female worker did not once bat her eyes at us. She was literally doing her homework. I come to the place for the toys... not the customer service. Let me correct myself, I come here for the toys but I avoid the two young, asian ladies with similar colored hair. They seem like they may be sisters especially considering they're both extremely rude. (I say rude because I don't want to write the word that I really want to use on Yelp). More often than not, I judge a place by its Customer Service and because these ladies work here, this place deserves a bad rating. The last time I came here, I was browsing around looking for a Green Lantern Pop Vinyl and because of the larger selections, I wasn't sure if I had missed. I decided that I'd ask. Mind you, none of the customer service reps ever walk around their counter to the sales floor to help or keep an eye on the merchandise. They all stay behind and walk back and forth behind it. Anyway, I asked the younger of the two "sisters" if she knew where I could find it. She just looked at me and said just said "No". Then she thought about it and said "They haven't made that one yet!" And walked away. I said "what?!?" Because I knew the toy existed (in fact I just ordered it from fugitivetoys.com) And she repeated herself. I almost corrected her but just smiled and walked away. Ill be honest... Ive had a few great experiences with the Latino Dude who likes to wear hats but most of the time it ones of the two "sisters" that's there. They are a little pricey too... I find myself going to HotTopic because they have buy 1 get 1 half off (almost always) with the newer Pops. Also, the customer service is way better. Because of the customer service this place is becoming my last stop before I buy something online that I really, really want but cant find anywhere else. In my opinion X-Treme Toys is maybe one of the good things that is worth stopping by in The Shops of Montebello. Really! there aren't many shopping malls nowadays that have hobby stores like these. My fandom is Transformers, not today's cricket looking Transformers but the original 80's robots. They have a few show cases that sell and display some old toy figures but a high price. He-Man stuff! remember him? X-Treme Toys has lots of collectables you don't see anywhere else like: Funko Pop figures they have lots of variety even WTF? a PSY version, lanyards, DC comics stuff, todays toys (which I don't care about so why list any) and they even have cool custom decals, etc, etc... As a closet nerdette, I always find myself walking into the comics/ novelty store at the mall with the understanding that the prices there will gouge my wallet. However, X- Treme Toys is probably the exception to the general rule. I don't know if it's because it's located in SoCal or whatever, but whenever I visit my friends in the Monrovia/ Pasadena area, I always make sure that I stop by here for some goodies. It doesn't really help that the boy is also into comics/ etc., so we always end up making a purchase. The toys/ figurines here are actually REALLY well priced. They're cheaper than at a lot of other stores that I visit, so if you're looking for gifts/ keychains/ toys to collect on your desk at work, this is the place to be at! They carry your standard Marvel/ DC items, as well as a few cool Hello Kitty/ Pokemon/ Japanese toys and such. Okay, and now I just read that they're going to close... This store is pretty awesome. They're selection isn't your average bandwagon merchandise (unlike hot topic) they really play into the needs of nerd fetishes. I love their selection of sculptures especially the Batman ones. The store also has a great selection of car and electronic decals. I bought a few for Christmas and they made great stocking stuffers. Come down to extreme toys and browse for some cool collectables, toys, stickers, pins, t-shirts, decals, and comics. Be warned, the staff that works at this store is very unapproachable. The people who work here must study the the behavior and implement the work ethic of the comic book guy from the Simpsons. Yesterday I went out hunting for dragon ball z collectables for my little boy. I saw the vynil pop dbz figures and began searching for goku! I asked the young man behind the counter if they carried goku and vegeta. He pointed at the goku pictured on the box and stated that it was a hot topic exclusive. I felt like he was annoyed by my simple question. I said thank you and walked out. They have a good amount of cool items, but the store is overwhelmed with the vynil pop figures. They should rename the store to "Funko pays ma billz". Much of their merch is dusty, bent, or scuffed. Overall, come down to X-treme toys to browse. You can find all their stuff at other stores or Frank and son's. The management may want to retrain their sales reps. Love love love their funko pop selection and they definitely have a bigger selection than most other places BUT they put the price label RIGHT ON THE FRONT! X-treme toys is a good place to get ripped off. The only people who buy stuff here, as you can read in the other reviews, are parents who don't know what prices are for some of this stuff. It is a nice, clean, organized, a bit cramped, but overall a cool place to look around in. Honestly, if you see something you like in there, take out your phone, go on amazon, check the item you saw at the store, and compare. You'll be turned off instantly at the huge difference in prices. And yeah customer service is basically nonexistent, but I don't think that matters much to most. read more

There are two Asian girls that look identical that work here that you may need to watch out for, they are very rude and good at giving customers the cold shoulder. The title says it all, its a geeky and nerdy toys galore. You can anything from Superheroes to Horror characters to animated characters. The prices are fair, sometimes you find a good deal on a collectible. I dont blame their prices though, rent in the Montebello mall must be pretty high. Staff is super friendly and willing to help you find merchandise on any fictional character you like. They also have a lot of cool designed shirts. Place is a bit small but there is a lot to looks at. You can easily kill an hour in there and considering how small that place is, its saying something. I usually go there to buy DC Comics figures. They have a lot of Dc and Marvel merchandise. Id say about 50% if their product would be that. They have a big selection of Pop Funkos if thats your thing. read more

Awful customer service from the two girls that work there and since I'm not the one only that thinks so, you'd think management would figure out what the problem is and actually hire individuals that have an interest in the store they're working for. At the very least teach these girls a thing or two about the comic universe and better customer service, it's not like they're doing anything but standing idly by behind the counter. The root of annoyance has to do with the fact that they didn't get shipment for their comics for a whole month, yet every Wednesday morning either my boyfriend or myself would go check to see if their shipment had arrived; one girl would tell me to come back later because shipment hadn't arrived just to be informed in the evening by the other girl that shipment hadn't arrived that day and to check back next week. On one incident one girl even told me that someone had probably left to pick up the shipment already and they'd be back in a while, I asked if she could call anyone to check and confirm if that were true, she replied with a simple no. This continued for 4 weeks; we got the comic book online. They are incompetent. The store's only redeeming factors are some of their merchandise and their window displays that are very creative and well thought of. read more
