My family and I went to Xcel for almost 2 years before relocating to St. George. We loved our time there and wish they would bring a location here! Xcel feels elite. Tucked right under the mountains it's a lovely area and right off the freeway! It's perfectly laid out and never feels cramped. We absolutely adored the yoga instructor gabby!! Megan was also an amazing reformer Pilates instructor. The facility is generally clean, almost never a broken machine. The clients are courteous and everyone picks up after themselves. I'd love if the women's sauna or hot tub worked but otherwise it was always a great experience. We always felt safe bringing our kids and they felt so loved we would move back to Holladay just for the gym! read more

Xcel Fitness is one of the best gyms in Utah and has a strong commitment to professional athletes and serious enthusiasts. They have a modern and smartly designed interior with lots of natural window lighting throughout. The gym and locker rooms are clean and well-maintained. No, Excel doesn't have a swimming pool or basketball courts, but they do have a very well-equipped gym with serious tools for developing the best in their members. They also offer cycling, yoga, Pilates, CrossFit, and other classes to help educate and encourage your training. I've had the opportunity to attend multiple CrossFit competitions at Xcel and their Crossfit box, C2X CrossFit. The level of competition and athleticism is truly amazing. RACISTS AND LOOKING FOR A LAWSUIT! I came in this morning after calling LAST NIGHT to confirm that their gym would be open and accepting free trial members. The lady last night confirmed they would be open this morning and even if I was a trial member I could come in. A lot of gyms are closed due to the Coronavirus and social distancing. I drove 40 minutes to get to Xcel this morning and upon checking in. The guy in front turned me away because I was a free trial member. There was no disclaimer online when I signed up saying they were not accepting free trial members nor were there signs outside their door saying they won't be allowing free trial members in. IT MADE NO SENSE TO ME BECAUSE HE LATER STATED IF I PAID FOR THEIR MEMBERSHIP ($200 UP FRONT) THEN I COULD GO IN! THAT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! I don't even know if I would like your gym to be able to sign up for a membership that's why I'm doing the free trial. They're taking advantage of other gyms closing and knowing they're open they want to force people to sign up in order to use their facility at a time like this. Nowhere on their website does it say they aren't accepting free trial members. What difference does it make between me going in with the free trial vs paying your ridiculous $200 up front fee without trying your gym first?! I'm still the same person going into the gym the SAME DAY except that you're having me pay before even trying out the gym to see if I like it enough to become a member! I've been a member here for almost 4 years. This gym is amazing. The people who attend and work here really care about each other and work hard at maintaining an atmosphere of impressive athletic accomplishments along with fun, purpose, and staying active. I started training here with an amazing personal trainer, Tyler Simper, when my fitness level was at rock bottom. With his expertise, patience, and knowledge, I am now in the most incredible shape I've ever been in. They have great equipment, an IV area, recovery boots, and more. Yoga is fantastic here. After supporting Xcel with membership for 20 years, I was told that to remain a gym member my cost would be quadrupled. I agreed the legacy rate I had for many years was low and probably should be raised. But, by a factor of 4, and all at once! I am retired and cannot afford this much of a fee increase. I spoke to both the manager and owner about the increase, but they were unmoved. The sense I get is that management is fine with cutting out long time members to make way for new people that will pay the higher prices. Good I guess, if you can get it. Xcel is a nice gym, but there are certainly other options. I signed up at EOS Fitness in Murray, a short distance away from Xcel. Much lower membership fees than Xcel with everything I need in a gym. In fact, there are some things I like better than Xcel. read more

I'm surprised that reviews on this place is so low. I think this is by far, my favorite gym in Utah. It is a bit pricey but it is so worth it. I get to try regular group exercise, and CrossFit. Depending on the class you want to take, membership prices can vary. The quality of working out classes is so good. People who exercise at Xcel just become regular. You would start liking to work out. They also have a cafe at the register area. Protein shakes are freshly made and those are pretty good. read more

They have a little cafe inside, day care, sauna and hot tubs in locker room, variety of workout classes! Yoga, Pilates, CrossFit, and spin! Didn't seem crowded. Variety of equipment with multiple ones of the same one not just 1-2. Made the atmosphere so that you can work in groups. Super clean gym! Loved the class and gym itself! Xcel offers a three day free trial. If I can give you any advice it is this: if you aren't willing to pay ~$80 for a gym membership, DO NOT TRY THIS GYM FOR FREE because you will fall in love. I used to go to Planet Fitness for $10 a month since it was functional enough. Then I moved and I wasn't a fan of the Planet Fitness near me, so I checked out VASA. Holy hell, VASA gets busy. Good luck trying to get on the equipment you want. Wanna know what Xcel's expensive membership gives you? A gym without all the crowds. You won't have to wait for a squat rack, or for a weight machine, or any of the cardio equipment. They get busy, but not to the point where your workout will suffer. This gym is functional and offers everything you can imagine. It's ridiculously clean too. They offer classes at an additional cost. I'm bummed they charge extra, but they included a couple free passes when I joined so I'm still excited to try barre, pilates, anti-gravity yoga, etc. Also, after coming from Planet Fitness, I expected this gym to be very intimidating. Maybe it is at first, but for the most part it's very welcoming. People aren't judging you or watching you because they are too focused on their own workout. Honestly, if you live in the area check it out. I'm convinced it's the best gym in the area. read more

I am a member here, ONLY because I am a lululemon employee, and get a monthly amount of $ to spend at a gym. This gym is on my way home from work, so I can get in and out quick. I am absolutely SHOCKED at the pricing of this gym. My sister just called, wanting to get a membership for her and her husband with childcare included and they quoted her $190/month + an extra $20 for childcare. I am honestly saddened and disgusted to hear this. That is the same pricing as Lifetime. Are you even KIDDING ME !!?? I have been going to Xcel for two years now, and have not been happy with the cleanliness at ALL. Dust bunnies, hair, and mold in between every crevice in the machines I use. When I watch them mop, they don't change out the water, the bathroom showers have mold growing in the corners, shower heads, and ground, and dirt is coated on the ground. Not to mention, they don't even have a working hot tub or sauna, just a steam room that smells like mildew. What am I even paying for? Good thing I'm not! What a JOKE. If you're going to be a boogie, upper class gym, ACT LIKE IT! The only reason I keep coming back, is because there's hardly anyone working out when I'm there. It's starting to make sense though... they're probably losing people right and left because of how disgusting it is, so it's empty lol. It is SO outdated, and not well maintained AT ALL. Where's all our money going? Definitely not renovations! There is absolutely ZERO reason to have absolutely ABSURD prices like this. DO BETTER EXCEL. My family and I have been members of this gym for many years. When it comes to a phenomenal gym you definitely pay for what you get and this here is the best gym in the state! They are constantly updating equipment and bringing in some of the trainers, coaches and classes you'll find. My top three favorite aspects are as follows : 1) the gym is clean and the fellow members keep it that way, you don't ever need to fear laying in a puddle of some "bro's" sweat on a bench. 2) equipment availability, unlike many other gyms you rarely need to wait for your favorite machine or weights to be available while someone hogs it. 3) child care, they have the most epic kids club that'll watch your your young ones while you get to go work out. I could go on and write about the luxurious locker rooms with steam rooms, hot tubs and showers that aren't reminiscent of a horror film, but I don't have the room. I will however recommend that people swing on in and go check it out, you'll never be able to look at your old gym the same again. read more

I tried anti-gravity yoga for the first time and it was a blast, but be prepared to be very sore the next day. The hammocks they use are deceptive in making you feel snugly and comfy but somehow my butt still got kicked :) One suggestion, if you have a bad back make sure to let the instructor know before class starts. I'm glad I did because there certain moves she gave me alternatives to do instead, which I'm sure saved me a really bad next morning. Next on my list to try is one of their beginner Pilates classes. read more

I have been to hometown gyms, private gyms, large franchise gyms and even tried just getting in workouts from home and always felt frustrated with equipment breaking, too busy, and that all changed when I started going to Xcel Fitness! It is so much more than a "gym" for me! I recently had surgery on my pec and I just came to get others encouragement during my recovery. It's an incredible atmosphere and the equipment is top notch, always clean, and never broken. You are always welcomed in with a smile and hello, and the daycare is spectacular - my 4 year old LOVES it! Nate Brown, the owner, terminated my membership today because I have been vocal about the disgusting state of the women's showers. I didn't even mention the broken equipment, the dust cats, the disgusting floor in the spin room, along with the broken bikes. Nate Brown is the most incompetent owner of any business that I know of. Instead of listening to a member and fixing the problems that many people have, he would rather terminate a longterm, loyal member. Good riddance. Xcel is a fantastic fitness facility that is constantly upping its game. I have been a member for about 10 years and I never get tired of working out in this top notch gym. The recent remodels have added space and new equipment to keep you looking and feeling your best. My girlfriend and I have also tried out many of the new yoga classes and have been really impressed. Be ready to sweat! The staff is always friendly and the locker room is always clean. The other members represent a broad mix of people. One of the best gyms that have ever gone to. I just love and hate affair with working out and if I ever get inspired I really crank out phenomenal workout. When I walked into this gyms I knew that this was going to be on the best workouts I was going to have. There are so many different toys I wanted to try and there was so many different Ways have you can work out. They have every type of traditional machine known to man. They have a rowing station. Everything for crossfit. Have a rope climbing then they had this machine the emulated skiing. This is one of the best hips abs and back workouts I have ever had. Outside from the work out the recovery area is unreal. You can really build muscle flexibility strength and everything to become a better athlete. read more

I am so impressed with Xcel and how I have been treated as a member and the measures they take for its' cleanliness. Especially so with the recent trials they have faced with Covid 19. Their equipment is top notch (and trust me I have tried nearly every gym in the SL valley, Summit County and also St. George as I have a part time residence there. My work outs are my sanity and I have had multiple memberships at other facilities because not one ever fully satisfied my needs. I can honestly & unequivocally say and review that this is the best gym in the state. I am a hardcore fitness fanatic and I will never leave this facility for two reasons. One-you won't find another gym who has the variety or caliber of equipment and how it is maintained. Two-how they treat their members. If you are on the fence because of poor reviews, don't give the reviews much credence. Just go and try for yourself. You won't regret the equipment opportunities and the maintenance of them. You can 100 percent tell if a machine is poorly maintained and it is frustrating when you need to push yourself and the resistance and ease of the machine has issues. The staff is like family and treat their members as such. The poor reviews are a reflection of those reviewers own personal issues and not the caliber of the gym. I would gladly challenge any who says otherwise. It is why I am writing this review. Xcel is deserving of it. All of the effort and hard work of ownership and staff do not go unnoticed! read more

We visited Xcel for a week during a vacation to Salt Lake. They gave us an extremely reasonable price for our visitors pass. The Kids Club was fantastic, our boys really enjoyed going each day. The gym has a nice open layout that was great for my husband who did CrossFit style workouts on his own while I took some amazing yoga classes. Maggie's power yoga and recovery classes are both incredible. The gym may seem intimidating initially because everyone is super fit but they were also all extremely friendly. If we lived in Utah we'd definitely join. I'd highly recommend! read more

Gym was great, service was excellent but I moved about 30 miles away from the gym so it did not make sense to keep going to the gym. I had completed my 6 month membership and was on month to month. I called to cancel and they said that since I was outside 30 days that I would also I have to pay the next months membership even though I clearly discussed my situation with them. I talked to Cam and he was nice but said that there was no way to help me out and that I needed to plan better if I am looking to cancel. I do not recommend this gym for anyone. Classes are great, the gym is always VERY clean, which to me that's a huge deal!
