I absolutely love this salon! It's so clean and they use sterile kits every time. I had my nails done almost 2 weeks ago with Alicia she paid so much attention to detail!!! I showed her a inspo pic and she got every detail nailed down! I had these nails done for my wedding and it hasn't even chipped a bit! So many lumps and bumps & it wasnt shaved down properly just everything a mess!!!! I got hard gel and told her one was lifting before she started the set and she didnt do it over so my nail popped off the next day with my real nail!!!! I called them and they fixed the 1 nail that popped off and the tech made the 1 nail they did over uneven!!! my thumbs DID NOT match at all. They had to reconstruct the nail. I went through 2 nail techs because the 1st one didnt know what she was doing for the 1 nail they were willing to fix!! i guess because they felt like they weren't getting paid for them fixing it. I called ahead to make sure they could take walk ins, and they said yes at 6:30... the only thing is that they took a while to start my service (15 min) it wasn't bad because I took my time choosing my color and design! I started and show the girl (Cora) my design ~I added a picture to the desire design in the review pics- it wasn't exactly as I want it but I have to say that Cora was very amicable and considerate cause she asked several times if I was happy with it, the color I picked was just as I pictured too! The place seems clean and nice, they give nice massage after the service and they are friendly to you! They use new utensils and tools for everything! ‼ The prices some kind of reasonable, the dip powder is $44 which is not too bad. But I do believe it was pricey of them to charge $15 for the extra in the designs compare to other places who charge $5 or $10 but I thought it would be fine cause when I came in I showed my 20% Yelp discount but at the end I didn't get it. May I add that also outside the the salon there was a sign for 20% off nails and lashes, which sadly I didnt receive either... wish they could actually apply it cause I feel that would have made the experience a 5 star one! I stopped here before heading to the airport. Did a thorough search on all closest to airport & this one won. Took longer than expected but I had the BEST nail care experience ever and have to recommend! I made an appt and they do encourage them. They sell flip flops for ppl like me who wear sneakers, forgetting a backup sandal for after service. Affordable but limited in sizes and colors. I got sort of lucky with the color I wanted but in a slightly smaller size (Asian sizes only, which run small). They used fresh nail kits, opening them right in front of me for the service. Loved that! My nail tech went above and beyond to assist me as I was rushing after drying a little bit to get all my bags situated on my person to run to the airport. I came here after multiple recommendations from friends in the area. I needed a gel manicure and regular pedicure, and was able to walk in here on a Monday morning without an appointment without an issue. This salon is new, clean, and has a solid variety of nail color options to choose from. I found my gel color and my nail technician helped find a regular polish color for my toes that was pretty identical. They do try to upsell you here (they have plenty of pedicure options and add ons) but also provide some really nice extras, like paraffin wax for your heels. My go-to for a gel manicure has been Dahlia when I'm on a budget, and Well Show when I want to treat myself, but I found Xcellent Nail to be right in the middle of these two. It's less expensive than Well Show and slightly higher than Dahlia, but the salon here is far cleaner than Dahlia and my gel manicure has lasted considerably longer so far. I tried this salon out for the first time tonight. When I arrived I was greeted right away and was immediately assigned a nail artist as I had an appointment. I felt a little rushed choosing a color because she stood next to me the whole time I was trying to make a decision. They did offer an insane amount of color options which was great. I got a gel pedicure first which I was very happy with. I then got the gel x tips, hot pink color with chrome. I'm really happy with how they came out with the exception of the tip on my middle finger which was applied crooked. I would be remiss if I didn't mention I was a little confused by the pricing. When I got to the salon I checked in on Yelp. When I did that, I was told I had a 20% off coupon as a reward for checking in. I've never seen this before but was excited about the prospective discount. At the end of my service when I went to pay, I shared that I had a discount and showed my nail tech. She said that the discount was already applied. This feels suspicious to me. The pricing I was given on the website when I booked my appointment was definitely more expensive than what was on the receipt but why randomly apply a 20% discount without me providing the coupon yet? Why list higher prices just to charge 20% less? That doesn't make sense to me. Lastly, the card I was handed says they fix any damaged or cracked gel nails within 7 days of service free of charge. That's amazing but I'm wondering why that needs to be a policy. It makes me think their work may not hold up over time? I will have to wait and see. Went in for a spa pedi and a gel x mani gel polish for both. No designs just simple pink mani pedi. My nail tech was Artemis. First and foremost the amount of attention this tech paid attention to my abused feet and hands were almost as if I had someone who cared for me take care of me. There's no other way for me to describe it. She took her time, she paid such close attention to every little detail on my toes and my hands. I came here taking a chance because I recently had my hair cut at their hair salon location and that in its own was an awesome experience. I'm glad to say their nail salon did not disappoint. It's worth every penny, the techs in here are sweet and they seem very supportive of each other as well which I don't know if it matters to you but I'm more comfortable in a setting where if someone messes up or needs to step away that another person can step in seamlessly. 10/10 read more

I was visiting Astoria and decided to get my first nail salon gel mani-regular pedi since the pandemic began. I searched for local salons and found Xcellent to be well-reviewed. However, my experience was not great. Getting the manicure and pedicure itself was fine, though I didn't feel like my nails had been cured enough (usually after doing each hand individually, salons take out a second uv light and do a couple cycles, then test the nails before wiping. I didn't get these extra cycles, nor did the tech touch my nails before wiping them). I didn't say anything at the time because it had been a few years since I'd been to a salon and figured they'd know best. While this pic is from 10 days later, the streaks in my finger nails appeared that same day. It started chipping 5-6 days in. My toes nails started chipping after a week. My finger nails usually can take about a month of wear without chipping (and I've only gotten them re-done because of my "roots") and toes NEVER chip (I've run marathons with old pedicures and the pedicure looked better than this one). They do offer a 7 day guarantee on the gel nails. If I were local I would have gone back to fix them. However, it wasn't worth traveling back an hour. I was also disappointed that when I went to pay, they told me their credit card machine wasn't working. Luckily I had the cash, but that seems like poor customer service not to mention that when I came in. read more

First off-- got to say I came to this salon without any real expectations but just came on a whim after a day of work. Mind you, bless Eileen for having to see my cavewomen legs. Never once did I feel uncomfortable by her or felt as though I was judged. Pedicure -- Hygiene: Metal tools are sealed in a plastic pouch. The files came in a single use plastic bag and the callus remover was a replaceable sticky. The water basin of the massage chair was given it's own plastic cover as well. I went for a jelly nude french tip on toes. I loved the color as it gives the toenails a healthy look without doing too much. However, if you have any discoloration on the nail bed, it will show right through. I have a bruised toe and it shows right through. Provided pics for reference. Massage chair: There is an option for a massage -- I didn't use it throughout the pedicure as when it was initially turned on, I felt the kneading actions were digging into my back. I also didn't adjust the massage based on the remote so it might have been better if I actually tried to find a speed and depth to my liking. Foot cleaning: Eileen was very gentle when it came to cutting the cuticle as well as pushing back on one of my pinky toes that tends to be super sensitive. After the foot gels.were applied my foot felt starchy? Like when you wash potatoes and feel that residue. I can only assume it was due to callus sander's strength at shaving off two years worth of dead skin. There was a purple scrub involved that smelled pleasant, a heel mask followed by a hot towel wipe down. After nail painting, I received a good foot massage. Eileen definitely knows how to knead any knots out. Manicure: Eileen was again very gentle with cleaning cuticles and tried her very best to try to get a color as close to my toes. However, there wasn't any SNS colors that would give same color. And although there were many interruptions, Eileen still had patience and took her time to make sure I was happy with result! I had a good experience here the 1st time I went for gel X extensions, gel pedi & was influenced to get lashes there (everyone working there had cute flirty lash enhancements). My lashes are naturally long & sort of straight, so even though I told them I wanted a natural set, I left with dramatic length extensions. There was a promotion for 1st time customers & lash extensions were 50% off. The lashes fell off in about 1 week, so not a big deal, but had I paid full price I would have been more disappointed. The reason for only 3 stars is my 2nd time there, for removal. They wanted to just drill everything off my nails which is not really good for your nail - I asked to soak off for a bit & they declined! I got a regular polish pedi & the technician applied thick coats too quickly which didn't dry correctly & pooled in the side of my nailbed. For the occasional set of gel X extensions, this place might be ok. But I probably would not be a regular here since they don't practice safe removal techniques. I also kind of felt like they were less interested in my patronage the 2nd time because I just wanted removal & regular polish (not as pricey as gel). I just want to give a shoutout to Eileen who did an amazing job!! I came in for a last-minute gel manicure on a Saturday afternoon without an appointment, and everyone was super accommodating. The salon is beautiful, clean and calm, and their prices are very good, especially for the quality of their services. My nails turned out perfect; even better than I expected. I was nervous about doing them this green color, since I'd never tried it before. But Eileen encouraged me to try it, and I'm super glad I did (it's now one of my favorite nail colors!) She was super detail oriented and took her time to perfect each nail. Plus, she was super sweet and great to talk to, making sure I was comfortable the whole time. I was actually feeling down prior to coming into the salon, and everyone was so kind that it cheered me up (Also shoutout to Kathy who was super awesome as well!). Some additional nice things: They offer you tea, coffee, water, and candy while you're getting your service done. This is also the first nail salon I've been to that offers a moisturizing hand mask glove that protects from the UV light. I made an appointment and when I got there was told I had to wait about an hour, I waited even though I had things to do. When I was helped I had someone else Not Kathy. Her name was Kerry. I last left a $30 tip, I'm not even sure why I even left her a tip but I am that type of person. All she did was removed my uv gel nails done from before. The last filling I had was good again with kathy. This woman shaved down the whole thing off, was doing this at the speed of light where at times even her gloves were getting caught w the machine. I felt like an object and my nails meant nothing to her. She burned me a lot of times and didn't care when I told her it hurt. My plan was to do regular gel on my nails and because they were so thin and red already I told her I changed my mind. She looked at me and was speaking to her coworkers as if she was annoyed. I wanted to run out of there I don't know why I let her continue but I wanted them off. Usually I seen people get them soaked off but she just shaved through it all. I thought I would get Kathy back but never happened. I don't know why over book if you have an appointment made for other clients. ****additional update**** This situation has now been going on since November 10. I'm posting a picture of my toe today as it is still not healing. I had to go back to the podiatrist today for another antibiotic. My toe is not responding to any of the antibiotics. Eileen the owner sent me a personal message and said she would reach out. I provided my phone number, however she has yet to respond. Eileen, you will be hearing from my attorney. ******update**** After 2 urgent care visits, a podiatrist visit and my internist visit, I've paid over $300 in copays and had a portion of my toenail sliced off in an effect to remedy the infection. I've lost a day at work, and will be missing an upcoming vacation. The only way to make this better Xcellent nails is to reimburse me for all of my medical bills, my missed day of work and a refund for the worst pedicure I have received in my life.
