Great shot of the main temple, can't spell it though :-(

This tour is a must do!! You are picked up from your hotel and taken to a drop of point to get the tour bus, then greatest by your tour guides, ours were amazing and entertaining making the 2 hour drive to the ruins seem like no time at all. I would recommend going to the toilet before you start as the toilet on the coach is for liquids only ;-). The tour guide (Fernandez) did suggest that there are many 'Mayan bathrooms' I.e. The jungle if you want to 'dial the number 2'. The tour guides provide a simple breakfast, which we did not know about so we ate before the tour, although we did eat most of the breakfast provided :-). On the way to the ruins, you get an account of where the Mayan people originate and how they were masters of astronomy and mathematics. You have the option to purchase two novelty gifts either a Mayan birth certificate or a silver pendent, both priced fairly reasonably. We bought the certificate with an amendment to document our engagement that we had a couple of days earlier. This is written in Mayan with the dates included and a guide on how to decipher it. When you arrive at The ruins... it's hot. I mean really hot, so much so that you are provided with a bottle of water and an umbrella to keep out the heat, I got no idea how they built the temples in that heat originally, unless the climate was much better. A word of warning: this place is huge and you only get an hour and a half to look around it all. We didn't manage it all, although after the heat you may not want to!! Second warning: this place is absolutely rammed with touters trying to sell you a lot of random rubbish, trust me by the time you leave you will be fed up with it. Although to be honest after being in Mexico a week I've learnt that this is the culture all over, in the parks to! Third warning: during the tour of the ruins, th tour guide uses a radio microphone to provide the tour, which he often had too close to his mouth, making what he said quite muffled. The signal is also not great so avoid point the receiver in your pocket and at each stop point get as close as you can to your tour guide. Fourth warning: the tour guide almost sprints through the tour, which was not good for my fiancée who has ME and cannot normally walk far. The general thought was that if we fell behind he would just keep going, and this I thought was bad since the heat could easily make someone collapse and no-one would know if your were on your own. If possible take someone with you. Once you've left the ruins, the bus provides a cold drink or beer to cool off and then you head to a genuine Cenote which is a giant sink while in the ground filled with water, unfortunately this tour does not allow you to swim in the cenote, although it is still a beautiful place. From there to Valladolid which is a quaint little town that I could not help but feel had some money issues. Although this didn't ruin the visit. The tour takes you to a lovey restaurant, which I forget the name of. The food hear was a buffet menu and had a lot of choice (all inclusive of the tour price) here was a little shop where you can pick up your birth certificate and charm if you've ordered them. After lunch you have another hour-hour and half in the town but this was not enough to explore everything. However by this point my fiancée and I were totally shattered and were thankful to get back on the bus home. Over all the tour was a great all around experience. The only improvement would be better radios at the ruins and less people selling rubbish as you walked around. Also if the tour guide could slow down at the ruins that would help. One last note, this tour is long!! Expect to be out most of the day.

Overall, this was a good experience. The tour guide was okay, they keep you on a tight schedule but provides lots of water, drinks and food. The food is not the greatest but okay. Worth checking out.

To begin, do not book a tour with anyone. Rent a car or go by taxi you will save much more money. The tours are not very informative all they do is tell you what you already know. At the site it is quite beautiful. Everything is very breathtaking. The downside of the site is that there are annoying vendors inside of the park pushing you trying to sell you cheap replicas. Furthermore, it is very hot and not a lot of shade.

Amazing Service + Thrilling Tours = Unforgettable Memories…read more My husband and I planned a last minute vacation 5 day vacation to Cancun the week of 4th of July. The week before leaving to Cancun, I was browsing the Cancun Best Discount website and as I was browsing (which I had already spent about 30 minutes on the website looking at what to choose) Martha contacted me. Martha was wonderful! She asked me what I was interested in doing and provided recommendations. We booked 3 tours with Martha: Tour #1: Whale Shark Adventure Tour #2: Coba Mayan Encounter Tour #3: Selvatica Air Assault Once we were booked, our confirmations were sent to us immediately. When we were in Cancun, Martha called our hotel room to confirm pick up times for our tours. On day 4 we had to change our Selvatica Gimme All tour to the Air Assault tour since we couldn't do an 8 hour tour. Martha was able to change the tour without a problem and refund the difference in tickets immediately! Talk about incredible customer service! All tours were AMAZING! Swimming with whale sharks was incredible! The group was small with about 8 people. We swam with about 20 whale sharks (I swear I am not kidding). Even though my husband and I do not get sea sickness, we did on this trip so make sure to take dremamine. While you are waiting for your turn to go in the water with the whale sharks you sit on the boat and it rocks A LOT! We were lucky to have spotted the whale sharks about 45 minutes into the trip and we were one of the boats to get to the whale sharks so we had a lot of time taking turns to swim with them. If you do this tour, you have to be in good shape since there is current and you have to keep up with the whale sharks - trust me they aren't as slow as they look. After the whale shark swim which was an incredible experience, we set out to eat a ceviche lunch docked at Playa Mujeres was a great relaxation after a day of chasing whale sharks. The Mayan Coba Encounter was great! The tour guide Isreal, zip lining, repelling into a cenote and climbing up Coba was remarkable. Our Mayan buffet lunch was tasty. The Selvatica Air Assault is for the young, adventurous heart. My husband and I were the only ones who chose that tour so we had 4 tour guides all to ourselves! The attention and interaction we had with our guides was so personalized. I could have done without all of the bridges in the tour, but our guides, the bungee and superman zip lines made it all worth it. I have traveled a lot and I must say this has been THE BEST tour and customer service experience EVER!! All of these tours are a MUST DO! I would call Martha and Cancun Best Discounts in a heart beat when vacationing in Cancun again.

A few comments though: 1 - we went on Tuesday, which apparently, Valladolid had a fiesta and so we did not stop, and just passed through it. If that was the plan of not stopping if there are fiestas, they should have informed us when we were booking. Would hvae been nice to walk around Valladolid. 2 - the tour guide just started talking after 1.5 hours on the bus en route. Wold have been more appropriate to say even a few words as soon as we drove off from the pick up area so to give us a bit of idea of what we are doing, how long is the drive, what to expect, etc. 3 - there were only 6 of us English speakers vs 30+ (i think) of the Spanish speakers on the bus. Antonio aka Kojak (i think was his name), our tour guide, gathered the English speaking tourists, but passed us to another tour guide from the other bus who had about 20+ people already. Would have been nice to have the guide with only a few people. Good thing, the other guide (Alfonso) did a good job. He knew a lot and was very articulate, and dressed the part.

A Chichén Itz-A+ Experience!…read more We had an absolutely outstanding experience with Absolute Adventures, thanks in large part to our incredible guide, Alberto, and our professional driver, Yosmar. Alberto guided us through all the major archaeological sites at Chichén Itzá with a perfect balance of deep knowledge, storytelling, and patience. He answered countless questions--not just from my wife and me, but also from our very curious 10- and 8-year-old children. He made history come alive in a way that was engaging and accessible for all of us, which is no small feat on a long, hot day. What truly set Alberto apart was how attentive he was to our children's needs. He made sure we moved at a comfortable pace, checked in frequently, and ensured the kids stayed engaged and comfortable throughout the tour. He also did a fantastic job preparing us for interactions with vendors and other on-site situations, which made the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable. Our driver, Yosmar, was equally impressive. He was extremely professional, always parking in safe areas--and whenever possible, in the shade (a huge bonus!). He was attentive while we were getting in and out of the vehicle at each stop, especially when traffic was present, which made us feel very well taken care of. After the archaeological sites, Yosmar drove us to a beautiful cenote, where Alberto again went above and beyond--explaining all the amenities, walking down with us, and even helping carry one of our bags. We later stopped at an authentic Mayan/Mexican restaurant, where even our kids found food they loved. Alberto asked if he could join us for lunch, and we were happy to have him--his insight into the dishes and local cuisine made the meal even more enjoyable. We wrapped up the day with a stop in Valladolid, getting a quick but meaningful look at the Spanish influence, Mayan culture, and, of course, chocolate. It was a long day, but being able to go at our own pace--with our needs and preferences fully respected--made it more than worth it. Booking with Absolute Adventures was one of the best decisions we made on this trip, and we would absolutely do it again. Highly recommended for families, especially those traveling with children.

5/5 Highly Recommend…read more We booked two private tours with Absolute Adventures: first the Tulum Ruins, Swim with Turtles and Mexican Lunch on a Monday and then the Two Cenote and Mexican Lunch on Wednesday. For Tulum and Turtles our tour guide was Luis and our driver was Rodrigo. For the Cenotes, our tour guide was Arturo and our driver was Enrique. Both guides were exceptional and both drivers took good care of us. Booking online was simple and their communication about the tours, both confirming the tours before we left home and same day communication about pickup, was excellent. Our hotel turned out to be a headache about letting outside tour companies onto the property, and we ran into some real meet up issues because of it, but the team was super responsive and got it sorted quickly. It all worked out in the end, and honestly that kind of responsiveness under pressure told us a lot about how they run things. We started our Tulum tour early to beat the crowds and heat (highly recommend!). Luis guided us through Tulum and made sure we stayed hydrated the whole time, which matters more than people think when you're out in that heat. His knowledge of the area, the flora, the fauna, the history, was genuinely impressive, and he had this rare ability to be educational and entertaining at the same time without ever feeling like a lecture. At our turtle excursion he schlepped our gear and made sure we didn't forget anything, none of which was his job, he just did it because that's who he is. I was also practicing my broken Spanish throughout the trip, and Luis never once made me feel dumb or embarrassed when I got it wrong, which I really appreciated. For our next tour, Arturo took us to the cenotes. When he picked us up, he suggested we visit a different cenote than what we'd originally booked. I was a little skeptical, figured he just wanted a shorter drive. I was completely wrong. The cenote he picked instead allowed us to have two totally different types of experiences that we would have missed entirely otherwise, and I'm glad we trusted him. At Cenote Jaguar, Arturo gave our kids real time and space to jump and play, which ended up being a highlight of the whole trip for them. At Cenote Dos Ojos, claustrophobia was a real concern for us. But Arturo's tour through the caves was informative and calm enough that we felt genuinely safe the entire time. Between the logistics, the guides, and how they handled a hiccup that wasn't even their fault, these two tours were one of the best parts of our trip.
