Movie Night was the coolest and most unique escape room I've ever done. It was scary so it's not for kids but for older teens and adults it's just plain awesome! Poorly arranged, the clues were hard to decipher and figure out that something correlated as an actual clue... we tried the new Movie Theater theme and right off the bat the guy was telling us that he wanted to make changes to the experience because it was not all well thought out and still in the early stages. The prep videos and such- were so lazily copied from other themes and just made it seem like a money scheme instead of people actually trying to host an experience. Anyone who knows entertainment, knows that you have to work a bit harder in preparation in order to reap the reward. There's no reward in not trying and being lazy and cheap. Should have read the reviews before booking or we never would have considered. After filling out waivers that explicitly stated the ages of the participants, we were told that our group was not able to enter because no one was over the age of 18 (even though a parent was present). Manager was extremely rude and took pictures of our group that included minors. We have participated in other escape rooms in the area, including Breakout Games at The Wharf, with a much more positive experience. read more

The actual escape room puzzle was very well done. We did the most challenging room but were not able to complete it. I thought the clues were a little to vague to help much. The puzzle was hard but fair. That being said we only got 42 minutes to complete the room. We arrived 1 minute late and by the time we got into the room, he told us we were "getting a favor" by him not subtracting the full 20 mins. The man who met us at the door to sign us in was borderline rude. He wouldn't let us sign ourselves in and talked to us as if we've never filled out a form online and were incapable of typing in our email addresses. He wanted to make sure everyone knew he was in charge and it really rubbed us the wrong way. I would opt for a different provider for a future escape room experience. The only difference between them is the service! Update! I would like to point out that this business will attempt to bully you into taking down any negative comment you might make about it. I just received the attached letter from a review I left a few months ago. I will say the room was great, the girls working were amazing! Had a great time but... The owner was very pushy and rude and argued with a 14-year-old when she said "we won". He went back and forth like a child. "No you didn't", "yes we did" etc. He started to lecture the girl about her attitude and he didn't like it and she better change it. He was Unprofessional, rude and I feel sorry for his employees! Wow He also called an employee by the wrong name and she looked miserable and had to correct him. read more

Unfortunately we did not have a great time. The owner was incredibly pushy about the long, long list of rules. The room was less than exciting and had so many "do not touch" markers that made us feel like we couldn't fully explore the small room. We also got a snide talking to when one of us got a little excited and took a drawer our of a desk, something that is pretty typical in other rooms we've done. The XIT Escape Room was our first experience into Escape Rooms and we are addicted! We chose Insane Asylum and loved it!! It was so challenging. We definitely needed clues. We went in as two ladies and a 10 year old and they grouped us with another couple and Im glad they did because the more the merrier when your are solving puzzles that are very challenging and force you to happily work together to try and solve the clues with the 60 minutes allotted. We are addicted now because it was so much fun. We almost made it out in time. Almost. We went back a couple of days later and did the Tale of Two Forts-it was hard and I wish we would have had my husband with us. I think a lot of the clues would have made more sense to the male brain. But the staff was soooo very helpful with clues and we loved it and cant wait to go back and try the new room that they are adding in the spring. We love this place! It is well put together and if you pick up the coupon book offered at Rouses and elsewhere you can get off $7.00 per ticket. Well worth it!! read more

I normally love escape rooms and we have had nothing but great experiences in other places. However, prior to being in the room, the guy who was mansplaining everything to us was belittling and rude. When we were in the room he kept shouting at us like a frustrated parent, to the point where it became really annoying. We actually decided to ask for many clues to reduce the time we were there. When we finished and were happy to escape just before the time was up, he was very quick to point out that he added extra time on so actually, we didn't escape in the 60 mins! In addition, there were so many 'do not touch' symbols that it made it very hard to search around the room for clues. We found a picture on the wall that we could touch but it came away from the wall very easily (probably because it has happened many times before). We were chastised for touching this object, even though there was nothing to suggest we should not touch it. All in all, I would not recommend this escape room. In my experience this was a poorly set up room with a very rude owner and it was not worth the money or the time. read more

We chose this place instead of Breakout because we wanted to support local. We had a fine time, and the owner/manager was decent with us. However, we could hear him yelling with another customer and continuing to bicker with his coworker while we were trying to concentrate on our game. As other reviews have mentioned, the walls don't go all the way up so you can hear everything else going on. They were very particular about their rules, like where you place the puzzle pieces (on the bed, not the floor!) and it was just a lot of information to take in quickly as they're rushing you to get started. I get they have to keep a schedule and also deal with disrespectful people coming through, but I recommend they improve their communications from booking online, confirmation email, text reminder and door signage to have the correct information that they want you to follow to ensure they can keep their schedule. Owner was incredibly rude. Especially with a mom and 3 teenage girls out for daughter/mom night! Not a well put together escape room. Not great for team building as everyone could work on different clues and and we were told that there was not a specific order of solving. It was terrible. Absolutely THE WORST escape room EVER!!! The guy who got us started said absolutely no brute force and explained the group before us broke 3 metal pieces off the door. We made it to the same door and one of our members barely touched it and it came open. Our game was stopped and we were done. After 3 metal pieces being broken before us common sense would tell you its not secure anymore. We did the movie night room which was a TOTAL dissappointment! Hands down the best escape room we have done! Puzzles were challenging, room design is extremely creative, clean, fun and everything we were hoping for. If I could give this business a lower rating I would. First of all the owner made inappropriate jokes the entire time. He was pushy and so rude. Once we got into the room, they had to come in during our time. I didn't like the fact that the walls didn't go up to top so you could hear others in other escape rooms. So it was hard to hear your clues or any general talk from the game master. They would also hear us doing things ie saying things and would chime in from over the wall. Not cool. We put code in and it didn't work but they heard us say it so they came in and unlocked. Our group of 5 ladies aged 20 to 58 chose the Insane Asylum. All of us except one had done an escape room before, but this was our first time at this location. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The room was challenging, but not ridiculous. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Worst money ever spent and a total waste of time . Would NEVER go back . Manager/ owner does not know how to speak/treat customers AT ALL . We did the movie night room and none of it made any sense . Nothing correlated with the theme at all and the story line made no sense . Nothing in the room worked , attitudes beyond measure , we were belittled and made to feel stupid simply because the room was not thought out at all . I went with my family who had never done an escape room before . I have done very many (20+) and this by far was the worst one . The manager would not leave us alone during the entire escape room. I left so mad it's unreal . The manager literally slapped my cousins hand ..... before we even entered the room . DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE . I want my money back . Will be filing with the better business bureau. Daughter/employee with the pink glasses acted like she was scared out of her mind to do or say anything ! Seriously sickening to see the way he treated her and his customers . To the girl with the pink glasses that worked there , if you see this and you need help Message me !!! My sister and I took our kids (8, 16, & 20) while we were visiting Gulf Shores this week. It was a first escape room experience for all of us. We chose the Insane Asylum room, and had a great time! The puzzles were challenging, and we all had to work together to make it out in time--which we did, but just barely! The owners were nice, personable, and welcoming--even though we got caught in traffic and arrived several minutes late, causing them to have to get us through the sign-in/instructions part quickly so that the next group wasn't held up. The only (very minor) complaint I have was that the first lock we came to was already unlocked, which was clearly just an oversight when resetting the game after the last players, but it did confuse us for a few minutes because--well, I don't want to give anything away. But it was no big deal, and we got back on track soon enough. Overall it was good fun, well-executed, and a great way to spend a rainy afternoon on your beach trip! read more

Ayden's 9th birthday is this month and I had been looking for something new to do and since originally I was supposed to be working, something that wouldn't take a lot of planning. This was perfect! They offered a private party room and allowed us to bring in our own food and drinks. We even walked over to The Yard Milkshake Bar and bright back ice cream instead of cake. The owners are wonderful and friendly people. They were so patient with the 5 children that were in our party. We completed the Zombie Lab, Insane Asylum, and the Tale of Two Forts. The best thing about the Forts was the fact it was based off of local history! The Insane Asylum was my favorite, it really required you to get your mind to thinking. Each room is decorated perfectly to fit it's theme and not a detail was missed. Plus the rooms are original puzzles designed by the owners. There's no way you'll have already done them. The kids and adults had a blast and I don't think that we could have had a better time. Side note: the Insane Asylum did creep our kids out a little bit. So you may want to think about that when picking your room. read more

We arrived about 11:40 today so we stood outside as the door stated we couldn't come in til 5 mins. Before our time . Our time was not until 12:05. The guy called us in anyway. We get to the back and tell him we are waiting on one more person and he says well once we start they cannot come in. So I reminded him that's fine our time is not til 12:05. So he told us to go back outside then. So we did. So 12pm rolls around and our 3 girls need to use the restroom. They go in and were sent back out bc it wasn't "our time". Even though it was 5 mins before our time like stated we could enter. So we wait and finally he comes and gets us at 12:07 to go back. We are filling our waivers and putting things in lockers and we were done bc my husband is on call and had to have his phone. The guy told us Nope his phone has to go in locker we've had problems with them and I don't care if he's a police officer his phone will go in the locker. Well there ya go folks. If you are a police officer and on call but want to spend time with your kids do not come here. This place is a joke and they are RUDE. We left and booked somewhere else and will never recommend this place and will warn others of it. He also told me I would hear from his lawyer for leaving an honest review‍ Can't make this up. Had to pay over 200$ for all 8 of us for it to only take us 30 minutes. They kept stoping us and getting on to us for doing things out of order. We found out how to open something and they came in and locked it up again, because we skipped something. Everything was very obvious, and there were no distractions to throw you off. read more

Whoever runs this business does a shitty job. The hours online are wrong. They have their open sign on and lights on yet the doors were locked and nobody was inside. We then called and the man who answered told us he would be there for our escape room in an hour. We showed up an hour later and nobody ever showed up and didn't answer any of our phone calls. We had a great time. The personnel over all were nice and helpful. The only complaint I have is the young man with a beard seemed to be having a bad day. This reflected in his actions with customers. He was very rude and short when you asked any questions.. I understand we all have bad days but when you work at that type of business you put on a smile and leave your problems at home. The young ladies were very helpful and explained everything thoroughly. I would still recommend your facility to friends because it was a great challenge and family activity. read more
