Due to the pandemic, he did not attend preschool. And while he is very smart, he had problems adjusting to being in kindergarten, surrounded by strangers. We felt the school wasn't doing enough to help him with his separation anxiety so we took matters into our own hands. I reached out to 3 tutoring companies and Eggheads Learning Academy stood out. I approached each with the same concerns: 1. We need help pencil control and phonics 2. We need help helping him The other companies just wanted to focus on the academics. But Alenni was interested in my nephew as a person. Her 'mom' personality immediately leapt forward and we conversed that day about helping his whole being. Through multiple calls, texts and emails, she said she found the best match for him. And she was so right! In just 3 weeks, Lauren has helped him find his voice. He's interacting with his teacher and classmates in ways he never did before Miss Lauren came into his life. Lauren has also helped my niece to see her son is normal for his age and to celebrate the progress he has made in this short time of tutoring. Each small step has brought us to this point, 3 weeks later, where he actually told Miss Lauren, "Goodbye. I'll see you Tuesday." As compared to him saying "Goodbye" the second she arrived, and walking her to the door. I am forever grateful for finding Eggheads Learning Academy .

We wanted to give him the opportunity to gain skills in math and reading comprehension - we knew virtual school wasn't cutting it. Alenni was referred to us and we immediately felt she was the best fit. Our son was engaged during sessions and gaining skills. Alenni is kind and calm and has a way of explaining things that make sense. It's a personalized experience too - not a "one size fits all" program like some of the bigger corporate programs. We are so pleased we decided to continue with Alenni through the school year and beyond. It is so nice not arguing over homework or getting frustrated because I can't explain things in a way that make sense to him (Common Core is tough for me). Maya started attending just before she turned 2 in January of this year and goes 2 days per week. We started with the Friday playgroup in December. Annie and the other teacher guides made Maya's transition as smooth as possible, although it was naturally tough for us to separate at first. It didn't take long for Maya to love her school and teachers! The Outside Space. Newport Academy is just the perfect sized place of learning that we were looking for - there are many teacher guides for the students, and the school has 15 kids. The overall set-up is so great: enclosed playground with the standards like playhouses, swings, a slide, vintage tricycles; plus things to stimulate imagination like a DIY mud kitchen, cardboard boxes, and a shaded reading nook. Daily, the teachers set up activities in this play yard for the kids, like water play, painting, play dough, and other sensory activities. The Inside Space. Annie has created a serene and beautiful environment. There is a cool playhouse, tree house, and numerous sensory and learning opportunities. The school is Montessori-style learning, so they have these trays of "work" activities, which they take and utilize, then put back. We are impressed by how the teachers help guide these toddlers, aged 18 months ~ 3 years, to engage, focus, learn, develop a routine, listen, and be creative in this wonderful space. How they keep 15 toddlers calm and orderly inside is amazing, as keeping just 1 calm is often challenging! Overall, you can feel the love and passion behind Newport Academy, that has been created and evolved over 20 years. It is a living space and constantly changes. We have seen so many positive developments in Maya since she started attending - from teaching us songs and dances, sitting and focusing on her "work, " interacting with other children, and her physical abilities like climbing and confidence in trying new things. My son was just diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at 2-1/2 years old and I immediately…read moreregistered him at Phases for the morning program Monday to Thursday 8:30 - 11:30. Prior to Phases, he'd just been staying at home and the only socialization or structure he got was play dates and relatives. Since starting at Phases for the past month and a half, my son has been doing so well - it's like night and day. Before he could not sit still in his chair for over a minute and now, he sits at the table to eat and drink and watch some tv, and he even puts all the toys away in their respective spots even without being asked. He is als socializing so much more now whereas prior to Phases, the only socialization he did was with mommy and daddy. He didn't ask for kisses and hugs, and now, he gives kisses and hugs freely and enjoys it immensely. Phases is amazing when it comes children, whether they are on the spectrum or not. Annie, Stephanie and the gang and just a godsend and I'm so grateful every day.

My youngest came here right when she turned 2 years old because I felt comfortable leaving her with the staff after seeing what a wonderful experience my oldest had here. My youngest was not yet potty trained and I was still worried about her getting constipated or getting a diaper rash but none of that happened at this school. They would provide a daily report with how many times she peed and pooped, how much she ate, how she slept, and her mood. I loved that they regularly checked her diaper and made sure she was eating and happy. All the teachers there are moms and very warm and loving. My youngest wasn't talking much when she first started and now she is talking in full sentences and surprises me with new words often. She is 3 and her fine motor skills have gotten significantly better. She is writing legible letters. They have fun activities like water play days and puppet shows. I'm so happy I found this school. I am leaving my youngest here for TK even though TK is free at my local public school because the class sizes are 1/3 or less the size of public schools so she gets more attention. Plus she is very happy here and looks forward to going to school every day.
