In my OEC statement, I reported that a 21 year old senior in BFA drawing and painting student, Dana. she told me to "go back to where you came from" and "act your age" . I also documented that she and her friends laughed at my walk, which is affected by my disability. The deeper issue was how the department responded. Faculty and conduct administrators minimized the evidence I provided and labeled me the bully, even though I reported feeling intimidated and unsafe in my academic spaces . Their avoidance and favoritism created a culture where harmful behavior continued without accountability. I also stated that I had to block multiple Instagram accounts connected to the same student, Dana because I believed she was using social media to monitor me and spread false narratives . The same attention‑seeking and elitist behavior appeared in campus art spaces, including performative "Filipino instagram group page" online while bullying Filipino students in person. a pattern of narrative‑shaping for likes, followers, and visibility rather than genuine community. Even in Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum settings, the behavior showed up as attention‑seeking, exclusionary commentary, and inconsistent art technique paired with high social‑media performance. The environment felt more about online image than actual artistic growth. Because of the hostile peer behavior and the department's failure to intervene, I cannot recommend the Drawing & Painting program.

Community college is supposed to be accessible to the general public. Although LBCC is a public…read moreschool, the administration makes it just about as difficult and vague and tedious of a process as possible. Phone wait times are cuh-raaaaaay-ZEE. Bunnies. Bunnies. BUNNIES. Everywhere, all the time, and they're fat and imposing and not skittish at all. You WILL be having to move out of their way, because they won't move out of yours. This has been going on for years and years and is sort of a charming part of LBCC. There are just as many bunnies as students on campus at any given moment, and it's comical. Social life and opportunities on-campus are also a plus. In general, the culture here is very chill, very live-and-let-live. There are constantly scouting events, some subtle and some not, so if you have any desire to be on a t.v. show or in a movie, or a part of some experiment or prank or whatever, you don't have to look very hard...it'll be just as likely that you'll get approached first. Parking lots (of which there are several, including a five-story complex), on top of the fact that you have to pay for a new sticker every semester, are ill-equipped to handle the volume of cars that LBCC needs to host. In addition to having to leave wiggle room for everyday traffic, I vividly remember having to leave additional room on top of that for the parking lot circling. The one great thing this school had going for it was/is a big handful of the instructors. I had a few that made a positive, lifelong impression on me, and I'm grateful for that. Extra shoutouts to Lauren Dees. Her drawing class was AMAZING!

I came across PCU back in 2018. I have seen the school's ups and downs, which I found to be…read moreunnerving, but such is the path of most small law schools. Given its 95-year history, with each obstacle, the school has survived and continues to provide formal legal education to those dedicated to learning the law. I have since graduated from PCU with my juris doctor. PCU has proven itself to be an educational facility dedicated to its students. Here's why... AFFORDABLE. The school does not boast itself to be cheaper than your average law school just because it is a couple of thousands of dollars (tens of thousands, actually) cheaper than your local law schools, like USC, Chapman U, UCLA, Western State. It is legit affordable, because it is not-for-profit. It has the minimal requirements of a Cal Bar accredited law school, such as a full on law library. You'll learn how to use it your 1L year and legal writing and research is reinforced every subsequent year. BRICK & MORTAR and Cal Bar Accredited when I started. However, the future of law schools have changed since the 2020 pandemic, when we were all forced to go online. PCU was nonetheless affected and from what I understand is moving to go completely online. I was fortunate enough to meet most of my professors in-person in an actual classroom setting. I also appreciated having started when the school was CBA accredited, so I did not have to take the "baby bar" also known as the First-Year Law Students Examination. Although PCU has since lost its accreditation, it is not dispositive of the quality of its education or determination of its students. I'll explain... DEDICATED FACULTY. The bar REQUIRES a minimal 270 classroom hours a year for four years for a fixed facility. They make this happen for the students and keep lines of communication open for you to contact them outside school hours. Keep in mind this is a not-for-profit school, working nights and weekends. Friday night... yes, someone's gotta teach that Real Property, Contracts, Trial Techniques class. Saturday morning cartoons or snoozing? No... Saturday morning labs. Rise and shine, buttercup. You pay the tuition, and they will deliver for four grueling years. Need academic accommodations? PCU is on it. Life happens. Communicate it; the support is there. NIGHT LIFE. Not the Hamburger Mary night life, although I would not knock the experience there either. XD PCU caters to the working adult with night classes. Can you work full time and still go to school? Yes, it is possible. Dedication & grit. I did it, and I have no doubt you can, too. You cannot pass classes by "finding" time to study. MAKE TIME. I promise it will be a humbling experience. If you've always passed high school, undergrad, or grad school with high marks, you will have your @$$ handed to you time and time again, but keep on going! Law school is just a rite of passage to taking the bar. It has completely changed life's trajectory of so many of my classmates. Dang... still reading? Here's my personal advice for you, prospective student--law school is not for everyone. Speak to those who chose to be lawyers. What are their regrets in choosing the profession? Why did they choose their law school? Keep in mind PCU will be going online full-time in the future and will require a minimum of 864 hours of preparation and study, not the 270 hours I went through. I chose PCU because I was in my thirties when I decided to go back to school and out of convenience: It is conveniently local, affordable, and I only had my nights to dedicate. I did not care whether the school was ABA accredited or CBA accredited. Maybe that is meaningful to you depending on your career goals. In the end, it offered me an opportunity to sit and take the California Bar Exam, just like my co-workers who went to Whitter, Pepperdine, Columbia, UCLA, USC, Chapman, UC Irvine, Western State, etc. For what it's worth, I certainly got more than what I paid for in experience. I participated in the Cal Bar's Practical Training of Law Students program, which the school and my employer supported. Check it out: https://www.calbar.ca.gov/admissions/special-admissions/practical-training-of-law-students. Get to go on the record in court, draft and argue motions, negotiate with the opposition. Lastly, you do not have to aspire to practice law to go to law school. Just obtaining a juris doctor is rewarding in itself. It provides you with a breadth of knowledge that will benefit you in any profession. Especially if it's just the JD that you're after, challenge yourself and go for it. Choose PCU.

Prior to pursuing law school, I was employed as a legal assistant and had 60 community college units. At the time, I was unaware that attending law school was even possible without a BA/BS degree, however, after further research, encouragement, and support from my family, P.C.U. became my second home for four exhilarating years (Class of 2018)! I am so thankful for P.C.U. and I am proud to be an alumni! If it were not for P.C.U., which provides a valuable law school education, at an affordable tuition rate, it is highly unlikely that I would have embarked on this path. P.C.U. is instrumental in preparing students for the California Bar Exam and their active involvement has further shaped my enthusiasm for the legal field and my commitment to helping others, which is why I began this journey. You are clearly considering law school because you are reading this, therefore, CONSIDER NOT all of the reasons that you drum up in your mind that are holding you back and contact P.C.U. today! Having recently graduated from AUHS School of Nursing, I feel compelled to share my experience to…read morehelp inform prospective students and their families. I entered the program with a strong desire to learn and serve as a nurse. Instead, I encountered disorganization, mismanagement, and repeated unprofessional and sometimes retaliatory behavior from leadership. These were not isolated events, but part of a recurring, harmful culture that prevents student success. 1. Clinical Hours: Disorganized and Incomplete During our pediatric rotation, AUHS initially failed to provide the 120 required clinical hours. When I asked what would happen if we didn't meet the requirement due to their error, we were told we would have to retake the course. The hours were eventually made up but in a rushed and chaotic way that prioritized survival over education. 2. Retaliation: Punished for Raising Concerns Students who voiced concerns about scheduling were met with hostility. Marilyn Uvero (Provost) interrupted lecture to accuse the class of being "ungrateful." I was given a formal reprimand for respectfully raising concerns in a private meeting. That same day, AUHS added class days without the legally required student consent under CA Ed Code §94898. 3. Dismissed Complaints: No Accountability One clinical instructor canceled sessions with no makeup plan. When reported, including complaints from students and hospital staff, leadership denied the issues and kept the instructor in place. 4. Unsafe Clinical Environment We submitted a formal letter regarding misconduct by Professor Denise Waller. She sent students home for rules never communicated, humiliated students in front of staff, entered a locked psych unit without clearance, and physically grabbed a student's badge. AUHS policy defines this as harassment. No action was taken. 5. Communication Failures Last-minute changes and ignored emails were constant. One clinical day was "likely" moved to Saturday, but no confirmation was ever given. Even getting a bootcamp time required escalating to senior staff after several emails went unanswered. 6. False Advertising: Facilities Not Delivered AUHS promoted a new simulation lab in tours that influenced enrollment decisions. We never used it. Instead, we sat on the floor in crowded rooms and struggled to hear instructors due to faulty equipment. 7. Toxic Culture The former dean was fired early in the program. When students asked what to do, a faculty member said, "Run." Another instructor resigned mid-term due to the abusive behavior of Maria Shearing, Director of Clinicals. Students have been removed from clinicals without cause and told to pay $1,200 to make it up. Most stay silent out of fear. 8. Broken Promises: Tuition Rebate Withheld AUHS promised a $1,000 rebate for passing the NCLEX on the first try, to be issued the Friday of the first week of the next quarter. It has been over three weeks with no update. Multiple students asked, but the school has provided no answers. Some staff care, but they are the exception. AUHS offers no meaningful student support. It often feels hostile, punitive, and indifferent to the chaos it creates. This goes beyond poor organization and at times seems deliberately obstructive. I strongly advise against attending AUHS. If you do enroll, prepare to sacrifice your job, family time, and mental health. The school will not respect your time, concerns, or dignity. Nursing school should be hard because of the content, not because of the school itself. It should also be fair, professional, and focused on growth. AUHS fails across the board.
