They didn't have any Gibson guitars or pointy metal guitars, but their Fender and acoustic selection are solid. When I asked about specific products, he offered to call the store owner to haggle (awesome)! I didn't buy anything, we had to head back to downtown Atlanta for Coheed & Cambria, but I would certainly stop back in and/or haggle with them on Reverb. TLDR; looking for a Fender or an acoustic? It is for kids ages 0-5, which at first I was nervous about, but it was fine. Parent involvement is needed, so if you think you are going to go and just watch, you are wrong. The class is on Saturdays before the store opens, and you need to per-register. It is an 8 week class that is about $130 for one kid and $200 for 2. The teacher gets everyone to sing songs, play instruments, and dance. My kids loved the drums and the songs. They made us all have a dance party and my little guy was rocking out to " We will Rock You" by Queen. It is nice that it is not all kiddy songs. They also were showing the kids how to keep a rhythm with drum sticks. I highly recommend this class to anyone with little rock stars!

Tomas damaged the finish on one of my guitars, which he was unable to repair, and in return for the…read moredamage, he offered to build a neck. Per Tomas: my neck order was repeatedly bumped in favor of his preferred customers. After 5 months of patiently waiting, enduring a litany of excuses, including personal hardship excuses, I gave up on him making good on his commitment. I had also provided materials for the neck build, and he agreed to at least compensate me for the materials (which he kept) - he short changed me by $10 on the agreed upon amount. Tomas also performed a nut replacement: his work was sub par, and I had to pay another luthier to replace the nut Tomas had installed. Tomas reshaped a guitar neck, and the finish he used never cured properly. Also, the setup up was terrible. To be fair, there were a couple other services he provided where his execution was acceptable. My dealings with him were hit or miss, mostly miss. Generally speaking his communication was poor, often unprofessional. I had gone to Tomas Holgado because Maple Street had put a hold on its repair business till further notice. Maple Street does great work. Since the debacle with Tomas Holgado, I've brought work to Southeast Guitar Repair in Buford - they do excellent work and are very professional and offer quick turnaround - note, they're the shop that reworked some of the repairs Holgado botched.

I had some crazy ideas for an active/passive system initially. Tomas went over every detail - how I wanted the control layout, switching, jack location/etc. This sounds like a no-brainer, but I've dealt with plenty of shops that "do it how they do it" and make assumptions without consulting the customer. He eventually advised me that the build would be more complex than I had thought, and presented a couple additional options. I opted to go all-passive, and he had the bass done within 2 business days. As far as the setup goes, it has never played better with action this low, period. First time customer, saw some solid reviews and shout-outs which convinced me to make an appointment. I usually enjoy seeking out new techs/luthiers as much as I enjoy seeking out new barbers, but I definitely made the right choice. Holgado is my new go-to and I can't recommend him highly enough.

I took voice lessons for about 2 years in high school, took a break during college, and once I…read morestarted working I decided to give it another try. I needed a hobby to help me break the (sometimes) mind numbing routine of having a 9-5 job. Although I have a very good ear and can sing in tune, I wanted to take lessons mainly to increase my vocal range. I was lucky to be under the tutelage of Carey for over a year and a half. Within that period, I've been able to increase my vocal range and build up a nice repertoire of songs based on my musical interests. Since Carey has a huge database of songs to teach from (over 5000 songs!), we covered a lot of musical theatre, pop, and some jazz. Carey's studio has very calming, comfortable, and nurturing vibe. It's definitely a great environment where you can let your guard down and sing your heart out without feeling embarrassed! The only reason I am not with Carey today is because of financial constraints. Trust me, if the standard of living in New York didn't eat away at my income, I'd still be with Carey today!!
