I have been to 3 locations..Cranston, ATMED medical building and Atwood Avenue across from ATMED! All I can say is I have been satisfied with all experiences at each location. I have never had any issues with any receptionists and have found them to be very pleasant and helpful. I've had ultrasounds at the Atwood Avenue and Cranston locations...each time I was very impressed with the technicians. Now granted, some were more sociable than others and once I had a tech that, in my opinion didn't seem as thorough as the others; however, once I mentioned where I had an issue, she was totally receptive and checked the area. I just feel that everyone is different and has their own way of doing things..but 99% of the people I have come across respond well to suggestions if done so with the right attitude! Personally, I feel that all were very competent , professional and considerate. I must say that the technician that performed my ultrasound today, Adrian, was incredibly sensitive, kind, professional and perfect in every way! She took her time and did the most thorough ultrasound of my neck that I have ever had. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her! I am a retired RN and it's refreshing to meet a fairly new (3 years) health professional that takes such pride in her profession and is so kind and thoughtful. She was very easy to speak with and answered every question very professionally and intelligently! I would highly recommend any of the 3 locations that I have visited! read more

I'm really torn over this review, as I had one wonderful experience here, and another not-so-wonderful experience. I guess it all depends on the technician you get, but I really de believe in the power of consistency. Xra is easy enough to find, has ample paring and is a clean, up-to-date and organized space. The front desk staff is efficient and friendly, and the waiting area is pleasant enough. The exam rooms are fine, although nothing to write home about, but they are clean and quiet and private. There's also a bank of chancing cubicles and a smaller waiting area near those should you need to slip into something more ultrasound-friendly. So, onto the differing experiences. The first, as I mentioned, was incredibly professional, informative, kind and helpful. She made me feel comfortable, operated the session with confidence and explained every little thing to me. It was massively impressive and as a stand-alone experience, would warrant 5-stars. My second visit, however, was nearly disastrous. A lecture on how technicians should or should not do things was vastly inappropriate and totally unhelpful and only made this woman look like SHE was the unprofessional one. When we asked simple questions, she often gave us inaccurate information or didn't know the answer. When she ran out of the materials needed for printing, she blamed the other technicians, which was totally unnecessary, especially in front of a patient. She also spent the session blathering about her personal life rather than the incredibly delicate situation and procedure at hand. In a word, it was a mess. The whole thing left a very bad taste in my mouth. So, three stars. I would likely go back, but will go out of my way to find out who the first technician was and request her. read more

As a lifelong athlete, I have had my share of aches and pains. Lately, my doctor has sent me to XRA Medical Imaging and I was very satisfied with their service. I was greeted by a polite receptionist who booked me an appointment within two days for MRI of my hand to take a closer look at some joint problems. For those who don't know, a hand MRI is one of the most difficult because you have to lie on your belly for a long time with your arm flat on the table but "over your head". This was an extremely uncomfortable position that became rapidly painful due to the strain on the shoulder and your arm falling asleep, tingling painfully all the while. The machine is also loud and unfortunately you have to have your head in it for the particular protocol I underwent. I mention this unpleasantry because I needed a large number of scans in many uncomfortable positions. While no one could have made the experience any less unpleasant, what impressed me was how they prepared me for it. To start with, the receptionist herself warned me not to get all the protocols done on the same day because it would be too uncomfortable, and she recomended to space them out, which they did and I was glad for it. Upon arrival, I didn't have to wait long and the tech not only mentally prepared me for what was in store, but furnished me with a pair of earplugs, more pillows than I knew what to do with, and recommended the position that would cause me the least discomfort. Upon having completed the testing, the staff was very helpful in getting me a copy of my reports as well as a hard copy which the ordering doctor wanted to read himself. The radiologists' interpretation more or less concurred with my personal physician's. I have also had regular plain films here, and again the process was very easy. The technician was gentle in setting up the films, concise and clear with her instructions, and exceptionally modest and respectful in how she asked me to undress which shocked me because I am a man and she was an older lady where I would have detected no tension. If I were seeking more modesty or were more anxious about my condition, I would be looking for exactly the treatment that I received. While I hate hospitals and am wont to seek healthcare, I was very happy to have found the folks taking care of me here and I would recommend the radiology available at Johnston Medical Center through XRA. read more

I just want to say that the billing practices are unjust. I was sent a letter from a lawyer for what they said was a past due bill. I spoke to a representative in billing and told them I had health insurance. I was told that they would submit the bill to my insurance company. They never submitted the bill to the insurance company and then they send me a letter from a lawyer saying I did not pay the bill. Why didn't they do their job and submit the bill to my insurance company. read more

Woman who id'd herself as XRA manager, Lisa (I have her message saved on my voicemail) called after we left the office this morning, and stated that while we were scheduled to return in the afternoon to complete my disabled adult son's diagnostic testing, the company thinks that we left, per Lisa, "a bad review for us (XRA) on Yelp" that we are being asked not to return! They cancelled my son's appointment & told me to have him contact his doctor on Monday & to go somewhere else. My son is in severe pain and now because of this punitive & vengeful company he has to suffer all weekend until the doctor can be reached on Monday & he can get an appointment with another provider. XRA DOES NOT KNOW THE SEVERITY OF MY SON'S CONDITION and are punishing him and putting him in possible risk of harm because they are upset that we stood up for our rights & contacted the doctor to order the test because XRA lost the order slip, and they are using a social media review site as a means to punish anyone whom they think has reviewed then poorly at the cost of someone's health, potentially!! Never thought I'd see such disregard for human suffering by a company that is supposed to be concerned with health & well being!! THIS COULD BE YOU!! I would advise that this company be avoided at all costs. I am stunned by this experience! read more

I did NOT have a good experience dealing with this facility and ended up going to different one because of it. When I first called the staff was friendly and responsive. They insisted I schedule my appointment and that they would get the prior authorization in place and call me if there were any issues. I scheduled 2 weeks in advance, and took the day out of work. 1 hour before my appointment they called to say they hadn't gotten prior authorization and my appointment was canceled. Then they said they don't do the prior auth's. I called my doctor and she said XRA normally does it, using the doctors referral & notes. My doctor told me XRA hadn't even requested the notes until January 15th, which was a public holiday. My doctor said XRA had since sent in the prior and we would have an answer in 24 hours. I waited 2 days and called XRA only to get a machine but after leaving 4 messages with no response over several days simply seeking an update I decided this wasn't the right place for me. If they can't handle basic prior authorizations and returning phone calls then I didn't trust the procedure to them. I'm a human being, and whatever the issue was they could have at least kept me in the loop. Not returning numerous phone calls is rude and dehumanizing when a person is in pain and waiting. I ended up switching to Open MRI in Warwick and had zero problems. I don't recommend this place at all. read more

I AM Very frustrated w this organization. They claim that referring physicians can access films on line ...however , my doctor at University ORTHOPEDICS, a top RI orthopedic group could not access my film. My doctor tried to have multiple of his partners gain acess to my films and all doctors failed. My doctor had referred me to RI Medical Imaging but....I received a strange sounding phone call from someone claiming to work for BCBS of RI. They claimed they needed to confirm that my doctor had ordered this MRI. I confirmed even though it seemed strange. Then just before hanging up the representative said she would double check that RI Medical Imaging was within my network. Again seemed odd...I have excellent coverage w few restrictions. And RI Medical Imaging is the place my doctor sends all of his BCBS of RI commercial patients...without any issues. The representative then said that RI Medical Imaging was NOT in network and recommended XRA. So i went to XRA. When I arrived at my doctors office he explained the issues he always has w this organization and doesn't refer to them. I was compelled to call BCBS myself. There was no record of the call placed to me by that representative AND they confirmed that RI Medical Imaging was indeed IN NETWORK. So what happened???? What I THINK.... someone inside BCBS OF RI is secretly being paid to divert business to XRA. What I know??? I have to drive to Johnston and get a physical copy of the cd that my images are on and deliver them to my doctor in East Providence. VERY STRETCHY...hopefully the images are done properly! read more

The worst customer service! The receptionist in the front was extremely rude. She blurted out my medical information in front of the whole lobby. Then when I had stated to her to tone down her voice she got enraged and stood up and said she's sick I'm tired of people complaining about her. Very disappointed with this office and if I ever need an X-ray taken again will go elsewhere. The only reason I gave it a star is because I couldn't proceed with my comment. ZERO stars. Absolutely a horrible experience. The appointment was for my son. I knew going there today that my insurance wasn't going to cover the mri 100% and I was going to owe $320. When I got there I asked for them to bill me because I dont get paid untill tomorrow. The lady tells me we don't do that I'm going have to call accounting. She calls and the woman from accounting wanted to speak to me. She tells me "we called you and told you the amount, you told us you would pay." Yes you called me. Yes I'm going to pay it but I don't get paid untill tomorrow. I have never in my life had a problem with getting billed for anything medical. She continued to explain that they don't do that and that I said I would pay. I handed the phone back and I left very upset. A few minutes later I walk back in and the woman behind the counter tells me "oh the woman on the phone was about to tell you we could bill you before you walked out." She tells me this with an attitude. Absolutely ridiculous! It took me walking out for them to work with me. Now the lady tells me that I can be billed and i can even call to work out a payment plan. The fact that they tried to strong arm me into paying today or my son couldn't have the mri was absolutely disgusting to me. They only became willing to bill me when they realized they were going to lose $1200 for the mri. Those 2 women were so rude and had zero interest in understanding my situation. This place is very unprofessional when providing information, they tell you your insurance is in network at time of the test when you first asked them, but latter when you get the bill, they point out the Dr. who performed the test is in network, but not the facility itself ( billing staff very rude), which is the name they will use when billing the insurance. So will you get stock with a bill of more than $500, make sure you call your insurance first and double check before going to this place, they can miss lid you big time. They just want money no matter where is coming from. read more
