The front desk person deliberately marked me late so i would get charged LOL

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I was nice enough to email y7at the address on their website about an insane experience i had with their front desk person instead of leaving a review. It has been 3 days and no word from them![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This studio is amateur hour. Update - the front desk person deliberately marked me absent so i would get charged by classpass. See pic

I had a trial for Y7 and was really excited to try out a class especially seeing Y7 on ClassPass and on social media. However, my experience began at a rough start as I arrived 2 minutes late to my class. I am a punctual person and life just was testing me that day. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed entry due to the strict policy of closing doors for safety reasons as it is a Candlelit room. She was turning me away but I came a long way to get to the studio and asked for some grace. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She did reason with me saying since it is my first time, I can come in for the later class.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm glad we came to a resolution though after my entire experience, I think shutting the doors right on the dot was a bit much as the room was meant to be low lighted, and quiet but as I was waiting for the class to begin, I was hypothetically considering a few people showing up and really don't think it's an issue. The instructor was the last person to show up to the room and was still getting the music ready from his phone. People are stretching and minding their own business. I do think a grace period of 5 minutes at least needs to be considered into the policy as this is just not good to turn people away like this. As for the class itself, I had a good workout and enjoyed the sequential movements from the instructor as there was indeed, a fast flow. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I felt a disconnect from the instructor. I also noticed the instructor was commanding/ cueing moves one after another and didn't engage with us at all. It was drill sergeant-like and not very interpersonal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] "that is all for today, thank you and namaste." Additionally, I was really put off by the LOUD music choice and the unmindful timing of the music. The music began at a sudden blast from the get-go, and there were sudden pause/ starts to songs and volume changes throughout the session. Personally, I didn't enjoy the creativity free flow where you have several minutes to do whatever you want. There were 3-4 creativity flows in the mix and for me, they were unnecessary. I'm not sure if this creative aspect is part of Y7's concept but it just didn't appeal to me. What I appreciated were the lockers for belongings, parking lot, cleanliness of the yoga studio, bathroom and sink amenities, water refill station, and provided seating. I wouldn't be totally opposed to trying out another class with Y7 but I also think I got what I needed to know from them.

A dark studio, lit with candles. Mat markers on the floor to ensure there's room for a full class.

While in LA, I came to Y7 Studio in Silver Lake for their 9:30 a.m. "We Flow Hard" class on a Thursday morning. Arrived plenty early and parking was super easy. The facility was contemporary, and intentionally designed in a "garage" style architecture, decor is black and white minimalist with an edgy vibe. While it does incorporate roll-up garage style doors, it is NOT a garage turned yoga studio, as some reviews might mislead you to believe. There is an adjacent breath work studio on the property as well. The yoga studio is dark, and during class, lit only by candles around the perimeter of the room, which I feel helps me drop into my own practice, not compare my poses to others. Behind the studio is the restrooms and two awesome cold plunge tubs, which sadly, I don't think they offer cold plunges anymore, as they are not listed on their service menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The instruction here is unique in that the instructor is focused on teaching, guiding and cuing the class while attending to students, not taking the class and getting their workout at the same time. Music volume was adjusted throughout class, but on the last flow where you did it at your own pace, the instructor was silent and turned the volume up. I didn't actually love her music - sounded a bit more like elevator music than yoga music, but It didn't really make a difference. [[HIGHLIGHT]]NO LATE ARRIVAL: Some reviewers complain about this studio's on-time policy. I personally very much appreciate it[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. It is very irritating when an entire class of adults manage to get themselves out the door on time to park, pee, set up, and start dropping in before class starts, only to have the studio either start class late waiting for them, or allow someone who did not make those efforts, to intrude on the vibe by opening the door and set up while others are trying to drop in. I find it incredibly rude and disrespectful. If you are one of those who are upset that you aren't allowed to interrupt here at Y7, know that if "life happens" and you're late, consider it a sign from the universe to either manage your time better or perhaps you aren't supposed to be there that day. Don't blame the studio for respecting other people's time and efforts. *Rant over* The class was very good. The instructor cued very well, and the 3 mini flows were challenging, but also easy to follow. I loved having the music up a little louder - it helps me focus. There are painted mat markers to ensure there is room for a full class, and while yes, it is close quarters, during the flow, simply staggering on your mat with your neighbor leaves plenty of room around you. Got very schweattyy and walked out feeling invigorated. There's lockers, showers, and even a dispenser of purified water to refill your bottle! Will be back here next time I'm visiting LA.

I do yoga and I do HOT YOGA but this was a different spin on my traditional flow classes. I was so intrigued because they played music like hip hop/rap/rnb/pop you name it they got it. The places is really nice they have their own parking lot which is plus. I saw all the reviews about people whining about not being let him but your not suppose to be late to traditional classes, get there in time and pick your spot so you can settle in to class. Seauxxxxxxxx you don't ruin your other yogis vibe by being late. Be mindful if your trying to park in the lot to wait for the previous class to leave and then grab you a spot. Really chill place I loved the locker the outside showers and mirrors get photo op. Same rules apply as I would hope at most studios no phone just you the mat and water. The cool part and different are there aren't any mirrors. Which can be a little difficult if your trying to make sure your doing your poses correctly. The candle light I was use to set the mood ,and if you weary of people watching you I promise nobody cares. Now lets get into the flow I normally do vinyasa or hatha classes at a local studio back home but this was different. Its 3 different flows done 3 times with the speed up every time and then your own time to flow at your own pace. Pretty cool right! The music was loud and you can just flow on with the rest of the class. It wasn't my usual hot class for its normally humid in mine but this was hot but just not hot. Overall really cool vibe, I'm more of a traditional yoga girl so it was little to modern for me, but really cool for a good workout every once and again. Staff was cool place was nice and the instructor was really lit.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]amazing. love the classes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] the flow are easy and hard at the same time. been going here for years now and all the instructors are the best. but i would say the hardest is kelly!

One of my favorite yoga studios in LA! The instructors here are super welcoming and great, the yoga studio is super clean and well polished, and it has it's own parking structure! It's always really nice to find any workout studios that have their own parking structures since it helps save time both getting to and getting out of the studio. This studio has a locker as well that everyone can use with passcodes and I love how zen this place is with the lights dimmed in a perfectly heated room. Must visit!

did the 6lack x billie eilish yoga and it was definitely a productive yoga flow! it wasn't your typical yoga with relaxing and instrumental music playing in the background, but instead, they played hip hop music. I'm feelin' it! their facility and amenities are clean; there is a parking lot with limited space so arrive a few mins ahead; free filtered water and other products provided (i.e. makeup remover, hair ties, etc). inside the yoga area, it's very hot, aphotic, and intimate with a candlelit placed in each marked yoga spot. honestly, i was already sweating at the beginning when we were doing the downward-facing dog position, lol. overall, the majority of the positions were doable being the fact that I'm a beginner. the key is to put ample balance, focus and energy into each position, and just simply embrace the heat. if you struggle, the instructor will kindly correct your posture if you don't mind her/him touching you. anyhow, i'm ready to vibe at another class at y7!

Ask the Community - Y7 Studio Silver Lake

Is their cold plunge finally working again or have they decided to get rid of them entirely? I'd message the business but they have no phone and take forever to respond via email. The cold plunge classes were fire!

My instructor, Jimmy, delivered an amazing workout, he incorporated moves I've never seen before and actually walked around correcting form, which is rare in larger fitness classes. He was fun, energetic, and really set the tone. Playlist was baddie certified! LOVED him! I also appreciated how well maintained everything was, soaps fully stocked, cozy studio rooms, and an overall vibe that felt intentional and inviting. I think this might be my new go to location. She was so charming and friendly and really made everyone comfortable. She made the class!!! She was a wonderful teacher who made learning easy and enjoyable. I would love to come back but it is quite expensive. Probably good for a treat! The overall studio is very pretty and aesthetic. The aerial room was a bit tight but did the job! Loved the openness of everything. The entrance and signing into the class was a bit messy and hectic, the entrance was under construction and the man at the front handing out the waivers and such seemed a bit overwhelmed. Didn't feel super welcoming. Streamlining and organizing this section would def help put clients more at ease since I was starting to doubt the class in the beginning.-BE SURE TO BRING A YOGA MAT! But even before I get to the class, the entry entryway and the vibe of the whole place is off because it's so worn out. i'm scared the fabric will fall off the hook and it's extremely smelly and overall unstable and worn out looking- not sure if i can trust the hanging to support me but that's the attorney in me talking. everything i see seems like a liability, especially their old hooks and the way the instructor walks around with a huge ladder in a crowded class.
