Ask the Community - North Ray Yoga - Echo Park

I started coming back earlier this year and the studio wasn't very hot. Has the heat been turned up again now that more restrictions have been lifted?

Hi Destinee, because we are currently following LA County mandated restrictions which requires that masks be worn at all times for everyone, we currently have the heat set lower than pre- Covid settings. Because students are required to wear masks…

    Does this studio have parking?

Hi Stephanie, Modo Yoga LA East has limited complementary "on site" parking. Our parking usually enough for most classes, however I suggest coming early to give yourself…

Wanting to try hot yoga with very little yoga experience and painful wrists is there a class you recommend.?

Hi Judith! Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about your wrists. First off, I would check in with your physician to see if yoga is generally ok for your wrists. If that is the case, I would try our Modo Class (with or without music) .…

Is this more of a "relaxing" type of yoga or will I feel like I actually worked out afterwards (I guess more Pilates like?)? Excuse me for my lack of better words.

Hi, Ellie We have several types of yoga to offer at our studio. All classes are in the heat. Temperature ranges from 98-101 degrees. We have yin classes which are…

Can I just purchase 1 class , come in to check it out and go from there? I have a few injuries and an autoimmune disease and hot yoga sure makes me feel a lot better?…

Hi Day! Yes! You can absolutely purchase a drop in for your first time and decide later if the $50 Into Month is right for you. A single drop in is available online and can be used to reserve your first class. I would also suggest checking in…

Do you offer Spanish yoga classes?

Hi Marisa! We do not offer Spanish classes. But our Modo sequence is rooted in accessibility. So it should be easy enough for a student to follow along from site.

How much is the monthly unlimited after the intro special?

Hi Heather! The $50 Month Unlimited is completely obligation free. If you want to continue a monthly option, you can sign up for one of two options. 1. Our single Month Unlimited is $180 2. Our Be Awesome Membership is $120 per month with a…

If I've never done yoga before, what do I need know/bring for my first class? Will I die? Please be honest.

Hi Cambria! First of all, "no" you will not die. Modo is based in accessibility. As long as you prepare. You are on the right track by asking questions. Please review the 'What You'll Need' section of our website for an in depth look at what…

Do we bring our own yoga mats?

Hi Sarah! Great question! On your first visit we offer free mat and towel rentals. After your first visit the rentals are available for $2 each. You can always bring your own if you prefer, but we do have that service available.

I bought a promotional membership for 30 days at the East location. Can I use it for the La Brea location as well? Also is there a limit on how many classes I can attend…

Hi Lily, So happy to hear that you have taken your first steps to being a part of the Modo Yoga community! The 30 day Intro Month is valid in the studio it was purchased only. La Brea has its own 30 day Intro Month that can be purchased for that…

I'd had a bad experience at the Pasadena studio with a girl named Megan, so I decided to try a different location, and I'm so glad I did. This studio is waaaay cleaner. The mat towels smelled fresh, everything felt sanitized, and the space was clearly well taken care of. My instructor, Jimmy, delivered an amazing workout, he incorporated moves I've never seen before and actually walked around correcting form, which is rare in larger fitness classes. He was fun, energetic, and really set the tone. Playlist was baddie certified! LOVED him! I also appreciated how well maintained everything was, soaps fully stocked, cozy studio rooms, and an overall vibe that felt intentional and inviting. I think this might be my new go to location. I don't even mind the drive :)

Cleanliness at this specific location could definitely be better maintained. The mat I rented that day was a bit smelly, and the towel was too, which wasn't great. That said, this has nothing to do with the staff.. the front desk is very friendly, and the instructor I had for yin was wonderful. No complaints there at all. I'd probably avoid this particular location moving forward though, that's all.

I have certain instructors I personally love and will go out of my way to attend their classes, but I don't think you can go wrong! And the lavender towel at the end of class is soooo nice! It's hard to find a good yoga place in LA that isn't intimidating and is welcoming to people who don't look like the "stereotypical" yoga goddess. I love coming to class and seeing all the diversity in the room sweating it out together - that's what yoga should be about. Shout out to Gabby who's my favorite instructor there! She was so charming and friendly and really made everyone comfortable. She made the class!!! She was a wonderful teacher who made learning easy and enjoyable. I would love to come back but it is quite expensive. Probably good for a treat! The overall studio is very pretty and aesthetic. The aerial room was a bit tight but did the job! Loved the openness of everything. The entrance and signing into the class was a bit messy and hectic, the entrance was under construction and the man at the front handing out the waivers and such seemed a bit overwhelmed. Didn't feel super welcoming. Streamlining and organizing this section would def help put clients more at ease since I was starting to doubt the class in the beginning.-BE SURE TO BRING A YOGA MAT! Otherwise you'll have to pay $4 to rent one. -The overall class was 10 minutes of warmup, 30 min lesson, and then 10 minutes of free time to record and practice what you just learned. -The AERIAL DANCE INTRO CLASS was a great class for those who have never done aerial or those who haven't done it in years. We learned 3-4 positions. - Paid street parking or limited lot parking ( where ABOUT TIME CAFE is , free during the day) - bathroom available - Locker room on the side - They have two cute dogs in the studio - Recording isn't allowed till the end.

The man followed me around asking where i got my yoga mat and even when i was leaving asked if i am taking my yoga mat and where it is etc- very annoying, bizarre and frankly off putting as hell. he was anything but welcoming so i suggest you remove him from whatever he's doing in the front. never want to come back. apparently you have to pay for rental yoga mat. But even before I get to the class, the entry entryway and the vibe of the whole place is off because it's so worn out. i'm scared the fabric will fall off the hook and it's extremely smelly and overall unstable and worn out looking- not sure if i can trust the hanging to support me but that's the attorney in me talking. everything i see seems like a liability, especially their old hooks and the way the instructor walks around with a huge ladder in a crowded class. Next the class itself- instructor spent majority of the time making us stretch and adjusting our fabric. it was such a waste of time. don't do it if you're trying to get a workout in.

Being surrounded by his collection of gongs and instruments created an atmosphere that felt both sacred and inspiring. Lou is a true gong master. I highly recommend trying and combining each instructor and the various classes provided at yoga circle for a wholistic practice. Knekoh for my mindful meditation, Jacqui for a concentration of the body, and Rob for spiritual awakening. The other instructors are also great and are generally a hybrid of these three. If you're up for the challenge, source Yoga Circle as your place to complete the 200 hour yoga teacher training. I was in the 2020 class with Knekoh and Rob.
