After two years of trying to get a reservation at Yay Farm & Orchard, we finally made it! It was worth the wait! It's a small, charming farm with limited apples, super friendly staff, and fun animal feedings with their donkeys and horse. We loved wandering through their little garden, picking apples they had honey crisp, green apples, and more. Plus you could even try some of their grapes right off the vine. We ended the morning in the shop with fresh cider and my first time trying cider donuts. The weather was warm and the lake behind the property made the views beautiful. Their spot is a peaceful little getaway. Would definitely recommend just be sure to make a reservation early on their website. read more

Ya Ya Farms. We went out there for dinner, live music, and great people. The store there had plenty of apples, great cider, amazing cider donuts, mini apple pies, and so much more. The apples were great and they are going to make a great strudel and apple pie next weekend. The food was BBQ. Great Tri-Tip. Pulled pork, make your own sandwiches. Potato salad. Mac and cheese. A hot BBQ sauce, sweet BBQ sauce, and an amazing mustard. The 2 donkeys and 2 horses were friendly. A great farm dog. The band was great and fit the theme of the dinner and farm. Walking around the apple orchards was a nice thing to do and enjoy the scenery. The apple season came early this year so we missed that it was a great fall thing to do. We tried to go here on a weekend during the fall and it was mobbed. We were directed to park somewhere down the road and walk so we decided to come back during the week. So happy we did. This farm is perfect for any small children you have in your life. The donkeys are the sweetest and you can get up close and personal with the chicken and the horses too. The farm stand has so many different kinds of apples and apple products. We walked away with a jug of apple cider and THE BEST apple cider donuts we have EVER had. I went here with my daughter (3yrs) and my mom and we really enjoyed our visit. The farm itself is really cute we loved petting Dolly and Dude, the donkeys, and seeing the huge horses. There was background info on how they came to be at Ya Ya which was fun to read. The website said $3/person for Apple picking but it was actually $4 plus $16 for the Apple bag. I thought that was a little expensive but it supports the farm and animals. The apple orchard has numerous varieties of apples, I think they could be labeled a bit better, we were unsure about which variety we were picking. The apples were quite small but it was fun tasting all the different varieties and picking them ourself. Ya Ya doesn't use any pesticides so many of the apples were being enjoyed by bugs but we filled our bag with some that were untouched. Overall the farm is really cute with nice views. The general store was a bit expensive but the donuts and small pies were delicious!! Apple picking slots sell out so if you're interested make sure to get a reservation in the spring! read more

I have heard about Ya Ya and their cider donuts for years. I do not know why it has taken me so long to visit. What finally got me in there was the limited time Palisade peaches and peach hot sauce. If you're reading this in August you may be lucky to pick up some of these goodies. They also have for a limited time peach cider and peach salsa. This is such a charming place! There are plenty of places to sit, including an old-fashioned gazebo. There are sweet donkeys that were rescued by Ya Ya. There's red painted farmhouses, and a building that houses many things for sale including hand-made jam. The woman that worked there was really nice. There is free parking. If you're visiting in the fall they have pick your own apples and apple items galore! I look forward to returning in the fall! Fun visit if you are in the area, lots of photo ops, cute animals, and a multitude of apple products. We met friends, drove up from SW Denver, enjoyed Ya Ya's for maybe 30 mins and hit up lunch elsewhere. The place is pretty small and not a lot to see so don't expect to spend much time here. We stopped by Yaya Farm & Orchard to check it out, and it's definitely a charming spot. The orchard itself is beautiful -- rows and rows of apple trees heavy with fruit. The only downside was that they had already sold out of passes to go into the orchard and pick apples, which was a bit of a disappointment since that's the main attraction. The highlight ended up being the farm store. It's a cute little shop, and I grabbed an apple cider donut that was absolutely delicious -- soft, flavorful, and the perfect fall treat. Overall, this was a fun 30-45 minute stop. She checked us out and gave us the history of the name yaya! This place is charming. We have missed the annual sign up in January for fall apple picking every year of our lives but still make this a tradition. Entrance is free which is a rarity these days so we feel great supporting this business by buying all the apples and local honey we can eat. Don't pass up this farm for some cute animals and delicious apple cider donuts! They have donkeys, horses, a dog named Calvin, and apparently a few peacock (we didn't see them). The staff were mostly friendly. We saw two workers complaining about a school bus driver who, unfortunately, seemed to have pulled into the wrong parking area for the school trip. They offer pick-your-own apples and flowers. They were sold out of the apple PYO, but they offered us the flower option. The price seemed a little high to us, $1 per stem and $5 per stem dahlia. The donuts, however, are worth the $2 each. They were fresh, lightly crisp on the outside, moist and not too sweet on the inside. It's not super stroller friendly but with a little gusto you can make it work. They have a large selection of sauces, honeys, jellies, fruit butters and candies. Fun in fall!!! This was our third stop on Pumpkin Day 2022 (yeah, should've been "fall day".) The shop was super well stocked, and we all bought apples, cider, jams, donuts... and there was so much more to choose from! I went with the cherry jalapeño jam, but they all looked amazing! This is a private farm with horses and peacocks and a flower garden. You have to sign up in January each year to get on list for pick your own apples. They have 2 donkeys and 2 horses. Very sweet and they sell cookies in the shop so you can feed them. Their is a small flower field you can pick from (1$ a stem but certain flowers are 3$ a stem). This was a very cute and small farm. I was surprised there weren't more to choose from in the area. I was visiting Denver and looking for something to entertain my five-year old stepdaughter so we ventured to Ya Ya farm. Upon arrival we needed the restrooms, but there were only port-a-potties so that was unpleasant. We bought some donkey cookies to feed the donkeys and visited the horses and chickens. I bought us some apple-cider doughnuts, which were delicious. I think you have to make reservations to pick apples way in advance so we couldn't do that. We were done with the Fran in about 20 minutes. Maybe I've been spoiled by big family-friendly farms with lots of activities and more room for the animals. I don't think I'd drive from Denver again to visit this farm. read more

2.5 stars. I was so excited to try this place -- I've been reading for years that it's the best apple orchard "near" Denver. But after visiting today, I just don't think it's worth the hour drive from Denver. I think I'm spoiled from going to Michigan orchards in the past, which had hot and fresh cider donuts and acres of apples to pick. Ya Ya is a small space with their orchard closed. They have a few animals you can pet/feed, but there are so many people that it's difficult to do so and I kind of feel bad for the animals. We were excited to try their cider donuts after hearing good things, but the donuts were undercooked (still raw in the center), oily, and actually *cold* (not even "room temperature"). My guess is that the frying oil wasn't hot enough. I also got a small bottle of apple cider ($5) and it tasted like apple juice, not cider. It is watery and lacks the concentrated apple flavor that you would associate with apple cider. There are no bathrooms -- two gross porta-potties are your only options. Meh. I'm still searching for a good apple orchard experience in Colorado! read more

While the staff was very kind and helpful and there was a huge selection of apple related goodies, I struggled to see all the animals in really small and dirty spaces. The ducks were in a hutch with black water, the peacocks were de-feathered and sort of laying in their own filth and the donkeys had been so over fed their lil bodies were bulbous. If their goodies made on site could be purchased elsewhere I may skip the farm. I purchased the apple BBQ sauce and the apple salsa but they also had sodas, honey and a number of other things. Well we just came home from Applefest. It was our first time at Ya Ya and our first time at their "premier" event of the year. First off, the event was $45 dollars (per adult!) and $22 (per child!) over 3 yrs. I have no idea where that money went because all we got for it was a below average plate of BBQ (small portions), 1 apple cider donut, and a lemonade. I would say the entire meal was worth about $12. There was live music, but as far as entertainment, once you were done eating you were basically done with activities unless you wanted to pay $10 to have your face painted (badly). In addition, the place was packed and the farm only provided about 6 picnic tables to eat at. If you weren't one of the first 6 families in line, you had to sit on the wet ground (it had just rained) in the muddy apple orchard or next to the horse stable that smelled like... well you can guess. Speaking of the horses, they seemed friendly enough, and there were plenty of children petting them, but one of them decided to bite my daughter's right hand when she reached out to pet him. She is only one so it was very painful and very scary for her. We had to find ice for her hand and it's still looking bruised. If the horse pen had a sign that said "Caution, Horses May Bite" or "Do Not Touch" or basically anything at all, we would have chalked it up to our own recklessness and moved on. But there was no such warning, and the fact that these horses were being pet by other families made us think we'd be alright doing same. To add insult to injury, when we confronted one of the workers about what happened we were simply asked if we "saw the sign at the entrance"... they meant the sign that is in front of every public farm in Colorado about how they are "not responsible for any injury". Immediately after, we were confronted by a male worker who laughed at us (seriously) and said "oh that horse bites me and my daughter all the time." By the end I was furious and my wife was in tears (along with our injured baby). Hey Ya Ya, how about you teach your employees a little customer service, or at the very least some empathy. A simple "I'm sorry that happened" would have went a long way with us. Needless to say, we are never returning and we will make it a point to share our experience with everyone we meet. read more

The staff could be more friendly. I went on a field trip with a group of preschool students, and the first thing we were introduced to was chickens that had barely any feathers because the rooster bullied them. It was a tiny space for chickens to be, and you could tell all of the chickens were being affected by the rooster and tiny space. While going to our first set of apple trees, the woman touring our group asked for students to be with their parents/guardians, but most students still needed their parents with them as it was a field trip. So I told this woman, "A lot of them don't have their parents with them," because she kept telling them to be with their parents. Instead, she snapped at me and said, "Well, they came in a car with a parent, so that is their parent." Every parent and teacher in our group looked around awkwardly because she snapped at me for no reason. I was taken aback, and it set the tone for the rest of the day. DO NOT GO HERE Something that's always been on my fall bucket list is Apple picking. We had been busy every weekend this season, until today. I had looked up the best orchards in Colorado, and came across a website https://minnetonkaorchards.com/best-apple-orchards-in-colorado/ which had Ya Ya's listed. However, there was nowhere in the blog or on the home page of Ya Ya's website that said you had to make reservations to pick apples. We drove an hour from Denver to get there. When we pulled in and walked up to the orchard, there was a sign that said the U-pick apples was sold out I went up to one of the ladies who worked there, and asked how long it had been sold out. She says "Since January" and laughs. I was totally taken aback, and then she goes, "it's always a culture shock to people from other countries". EXCUSE ME. The absolute naivety and ignorance of that comment is still bothering me as I write this. I calmly responded saying that I'm from Colorado, and she then proceeds to tell me that "well, it's always been that way". She said that you have to go on their website and make reservations, and once the season starts, they go down the list first-come-first serve for people to pick apples. Thankfully, my kiddo was super chill about it, and I was the devastated one. Not only because this was a memory I was so excited about making, but because of the absolute lack of customer service I experienced(and that's putting it nicely). I grew up with New England farm stores and have recently been to two apple cider stands in Michigan. All have been different in scope and type and YaYa was yet another style. One was a true stand alone cider mill stand, the mill in full operation in fall and a small store with sone additional home made treats. One was a petting farm and educational facility near an urban area with a young orchard on the grounds and cider and donuts and a gift shop on the premises. This one today was a country farm stand in which most of the apples and cider seemed to be brought in from Colorado's western slope orchards and a few things that looked homemade. Our growing conditions in Boulder County are not really ideal and I saw boxes of fruit labeled from Hotchkiss (great fruit area of CO) and a label on the cider I bought stated "made for YaYa farm." The facility is nice, lots of variety of small numbers of farm animals, tractor rides, picture taking opportunity abounds. The staff is very friendly but mostly it's a pick from the shelf and pay. Awesome to have it available locally. The Michigan donuts were a continuous operation of bake and serve hot, all day in season, at both locations I visited. YaYa's are cold, mostly in paper bags. All three stands have very different recipes, all acceptable to me and tasty but I did have a clear favorite. All ages can certainly enjoy the experiences at all three and learn something and eat something too. It's great to go on an ideal fall day like I lucked out with here, but even in a small place in Michigan in the rain, you can't go wrong with this type of experience. Was visiting Denver and was really excited to check out one of the few local apple orchards in the area. This experience was very disappointing. I was fortunate that we were able to do the apple picking - someone in my party had scored reservations. The orchard is a mess - overgrown with weeds and brush and hard to walk between the trees. And the majority of the apples had worm holes - I know they don't treat their trees so we shouldn't be surprised by wormholes, but almost every single apple on the tree had at least one wormhole. It was a challenge to find enough apples to fill our tiny little bag. The animals could have been fun, but the area smelled so bad that none of the kids in our party wanted to go anywhere near them. And the worst part of the morning was that when we wanted to take a group picture as we entered the orchard, we were told (quite rudely and brusquely, I will say) that we could only take one when we left. Then, as we were leaving, the employee who was taking the pictures stood so far back and doesn't seem to understand the ability to "zoom in" on the smartphone for a photo, that our faces are all tiny little specks in the photos she took. No good memories from this place, and a big hole in my wallet for the cost. An overall disappointment, and we will not be back. read more

First time I went here was this year, tho I have been in Colorado for a few years. VERY SMALL cute little farm. They have a few horses, a few donkeys and a lil chicken coop. You can buy carrots at the farm stand to feed the animals. Their apple cider donuts are exactly as amazing and delicious as everyone says. SO EXTREMELY TASTY AND AMAZING. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Their entire lil barn store is worth the trip alone, honestly. They have delicious pickles, apple juice black teas, syrups, apples and the donuts for sale along with many other unique items. In the fall they are open at 9am on the weekends so wake up early and head out just for a donut run and then home for deliciousness. It really is worth the drive out. Apple picking is only by appointment and you need to get on their waiting list something like, in February the year you want to go. While going up to the register to pay, I noticed the Apple had a large bruised area on it. I mentioned to my grandson let's get a different Apple that is not rotten. The sales woman stated "Ooh no he cannot get a different one since he touched that one already". This place is super cute. We visited in October on a perfect fall day. We walked around the land a bit... it was smaller than I expected but there was also a portion closed off for the day so that may be why. There are pretty mountain views on the property! There's also a hayride which I'm sure would get you to a lot more of the land. We went into the shop and got some goodies... apple butter, apple cider, apple cider donuts, and magic apple sauce. We also got carrots & fed the horses! We had to try the donuts right away and WOW, they were amazing!! Probably one of my favorite donuts ever, and I love donuts. They were perfection. We drove about an hour away from Denver . Very excited to meet a new place and unfortunately when we pulled up we were told there was no place to park and we would have to come back later. One of us got out of the car to get the cider and apple doughnuts everyone speaks highly off. However, the venue was very small, there are a few animals in the farm and in my opinion over priced. We bought 2 x 1/2 gallon apple ciders, 2 x 4 doughnut bags and a small jar of sliced apples for $77. Wish our experience would of been better and a bit longer. We couldn't just drive around up and down the highway to wait for the parking to become available. The apple doughnuts were a 6 out of 10. 10 being the best, just not fresh, hot, or we'll sized. I'm used to them coming out of the hot fryer and melting in your hands. read more
