We went to the salmon dinner. This includes a walk to the nearby stream to view salmon spawning (which is not guaranteed-it's nature). We saw two types of salmon in their natural habitat and it was absolutely amazing. The communal dinner was fun and used many locally sourced foods. Went here for the Mothers day festival. The gentleman who parked us said dogs were okay. While at the festival my dog relieved himself on a post nowhere near anyone. A woman hurried up to me and chastised me about my dog. She continued to yell at me as I apologized. She identified herself as the owner. From the internet pictures I think it is the owner. She is a mean person who appears to hate dogs. read more

We had a family wedding at the Thyme Garden, and I am so impressed with all their thoughtfulness and ease in handling our 100 people that occupied their grounds. I cannot say enough good things about all of the staff that went out of their way, and then some to accommodate and welcome us. This is probably one of my favorite places hands down. I first went here after receiving an invitation from a group of friends going here for a birthday party. We camped nearby and went to their Midnight in the Garden of Good and Everything dinner in late July which was just amazing. I have since been here several other times for that same dinner. I have also attended their salmon run tour and dinner in the fall and I have shopped here for herbs, plants and seeds to the point where my husband and I were originally planning to get married here. The space is gorgeous so even if you just visit the nursery to buy a few hollyhock starts or something it is well worth the beautiful drive. I have photographer friends who use this as a favorite space thanks to all of the improvements and test gardens by the owners who live here. They offer private tours and lunches during the summer months and they also have special events throughout the year for Earth Day, Mother's Day etc which are loads of fun and have very reasonable prices for entry. The dinners are created with local fresh and organic ingredients and since the owners used to have their own very successful restaurant the presentation and food is top notch. read more

I really should offer 2 reviews, because I think this is an incredibly beautiful spot with a great variety of herbs and plants. But..... Went there yesterday and we brought our 2 miniature dachshunds. We had been there with our dogs before, told to keep them on a leash, all good. This time a man who worked there, Very Important Man (You could tell by his arrogance and condescension) Walked up to us and said, and I quote - "We do not appreciate dogs here, they compete with the birds and the stream and disrupt the tranquility. If they have to go to the bathroom make sure it's over there" I have no problem with restrictions on dogs, but my god I do not like rudeness and condescension. I wonder if he appreciates me spending my money there? read more

The gardens are beyond belief for a place close to the middle of nowhere...(actually close to the Pie Capitol of Oregon...Alsea). We purchased several varieties of Thyme and a couple of hops (they also grow and sell both hop plants, the rhizomes and the 'cones' to brewers. It's difficult to explain the variety, care, layout, walking paths, creek side, wedding venue, lunches (midweek by appointment). There are so many special (and magical) things about this place! Once you've been here for an event, you're sure to be hooked. Forested trails. Beautiful pond. Bubbling creek and bridges. Wonderful selection of plants for sale. The best herbs. And everything organic! And the food they prepare is spectacular! read more

What a lovely way to spend a day. Good food, friendly faces, lovely surroundings - it couldn't get any better. The service for the food was a tad slow, but since everything was grilled on a bar-b-que while you watched and there was live music and lots of vendors, the time flew by. Children played, people made their own hanging baskets, everyone was relaxed and enjoyed themselves. I highly recommend this way of spending Mother's Day. I'll go to other events there now. read more

I love this Garden. Favorite place to relax, peaceful, excellent luncheons and prices on their plants. The owners were very nice and friendly. I understand wanting to bring pets, but for the tranquility this place provides, it's best to not bring them. I'm a big fan and plan to visit again as soon as I can. Just sayin' read more

My wife and I discovered this beautiful little gem back in 2002 when we saw an ad for their Salmon Celebration. We have been back many times since (including attending the Salmon Celebration for our 6th time) and we absolutely love it! Rolfe, Janet and their family are terrific hosts. If you live in the Willamette Valley and you have not made a visit, you need to! If you live outside of the valley but are planning a visit, you should add the Thyme Garden to your list of places to visit. Their grounds are beautiful, they really know their stuff when it comes to the plants and seeds they sell, and they know how to put on a terrific special event. Just the drive from the valley is worth it and from there you are just a few minutes from the central Oregon Coast. Visiting and buying from the Thyme Garden does not only support a local business, it also supports the natural habitat. The folks at the Thyme Garden have gone to great effort to have a positive impact in their natural surroundings. The most obvious is the work that they have done restoring salmon habitat along Ernest Creek and in Crooked Creek. When they helped Ernest Creek back into it's historical flow, after having been in a man-made diversion for nearly 100 years, the creek bed was just bare clay and salmon returning was just a dream. Now, mother nature has restored the creek bed into prime salmon habitat and numerous fish come there to spawn each year. read more

If there was a rating for more than 5 stars this place would have it. The grounds are absolutley breathtaking. We decided to go camping for a couple of our b-days and we went to the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Everything. First off everyone who was working the event was so nice and so helpful with any question we may have had. We walked the gardens during the day light and lets just say ...... I joked about moving on to the grounds forever. The event was beautiful and the food was so good. When night time fell the twinkle lights added much beauty to the place. The angel trumpet tree is one of the largest I have ever seen and oh my I must have been in the area with the tree for a good 30 mins before moving on. I can not say enough good things about this place. Please if you get a chance stop by and visit. read more

Thyme Garden is the most beautiful place that I have ever seen. What gorgeous scenery! But looks can be deceiving. My nephew and new bride got married there recently. The wedding was fanominal, though the owners of Thyme Garden were rude and nasty. The garden was paid $2500 to hold the venue there. We needed use of the walk in cooler for our wine and small beer kegs, which was not a lot. The owners threw a nonstop fit about it and were rude as hell for 2 days. We accidentally broke a pair of $3 Walmart scissors, which she had 2 more pair, you would of thought they were made of gold the way the owner acted. I recommend you stop and see the scenery, but do not waste money to hold a venue there if you expect professionallism and niceties. read more

Janet cancelled our wedding via email. It was awful! Ever been broke up with through text message or email. It's like that! Hits you like a ton of bricks. Janet did not ask us if that was O.K.? Verbal, written & implied contracts are all legal in Oregon. I don't see how you can agree in writing to do something & then completely change your mind after the fact. Its important to think before you speak especially in the premeptive planning stages for a wedding. Bottom line here for Janet & anyone else who makes decisions at Thyme Garden is that its a big deal to cancel someones wedding after you said yes. I have carefully read the communication from Janet regarding my wedding & confirmed that a written yes turned into a no. That should have been phrased as a question not a flat "NO" that has no room for discussion. Furthermore Janet even mentions the slow response on the change of heart. Seroiusly! To present some timeline here it took less time for her to say yes we will take your money that day in Sept then it did for a renege on the whole thing. May go without saying but we would have appreciated a "NO" from the start like a professional that takes their role seriously. If we knew there could be a cancellation we would want what anyone else would want in this worse case scenario. We would want the bad news to be relayed in a timely fashion. When the renege is precised by the word "slow" it really adds salt on the wound & shows admittance to the lack of timeliness. Let's add more salt to the wound now & renege not only slowly but with a reason that is arguably a discrimination matter. I can tell you they didn't cancel due too money. Seldom does discrimination concerns cancel weddings but it has & all in writing. I am strongly considering a legal claim against their entity since we have more then a verbally contract. I'm a licensed wedding DJ in Lincoln County & have been for years. I'm very very familiar with wedding contracts & how time frames work with money & situations where reneging is involved. We were given an excuse related to insurance but based off a discrimation arguement. Being an licensed wedding & event DJ in addition to being a property owner with a business insured that's open to the public just like Thyme Garden I have to argue that their pitiful insurance excuse is completely unfounded. If founded then these would still be considerations at the responsibility of the person charging for use of the facility. With this in mind based on the reason for the renege this would technically be the fault of Thyme for not having their ducks in a row until after they committed already. I will be providing some copy & pasted clips from Janets email since seeing is believing. So far Thyme Garden is our only wedding vendor with any legal trouble with us.
