I recently found the need to use the services of this facility as my regular vet was unwilling to see my pet with less than 3 weeks notice. These people are not motivated by compassion for animals but by greed. My dog had cheat in his ear, and I was wanting to get it removed before he suffered damage to ear drum. I was there for 5 hours, there is no shade, no place to sit, no facilities, (rest rooms) yet they request you remain at site while they have your pet inside. They extorted $600. from me for there service. I felt like I was being robbed and I was. I hold my regular vet as much at fault as his unwillingness to take care of my pet enabled this organization to extort me. I feel sorry for anyone who finds it necessary to use this service. read more

It was late at night and my dog was acting strangely, so I went online to look for any veterinary officers in Yakima who might provide emergency services, and I discovered this one. I don't know how to thank them enough for exceeding my high hopes and saving my dachshund. They upheld their professional and responsiveness to emergency situations. So first off, I would like to comment that the ONLY reason I am giving them 1 star is because there is not an option to give a negative star rating!! Late in the afternoon on a Saturday in late April I got a frantic call from my neighbor telling me that my 7 month old female Great Dane lil' bit or Bitters as we called her, was having a bad Grand Mal Seizure. At that time I was on a job site 250 miles away, I asked her to find an emergency vet, take her in and call me when she got there. I grabbed my gear and immediately headed for home. Upon her arrival she called, explained to the receptionist that bitters just started her second seizure at which time, due to the covid-19 epidemic she was instructed to wait outside and they would be right out to get her. Now I don't know what your definition of right out is, but the 15 minutes she waited is NOT my definition of right out! After they took Bitters inside my neighbor called me and said they were requesting a $400 deposit which she didn't have, I asked her to put them on the phone and I explained to them that I was out of town for work but was on my way back and would be there in 3 to 4 hours. I told them that I didn't have a card with $400 on it but had cash and asked them to do whatever they felt was necessary and I would pay the bill when I got there. At this point the receptionist got an attitude and stated that they would not be able to help her without a deposit. Now I could understand If she was brought in for something NON LIFE THREATENING, but that wasn't the case here. After 15 minutes of arguing with her and another woman I said f**k it and told them to bring Bitters back out to my neighbor and she would take her somewhere else. At this point the nasty receptionist said that in order to release her I had to pay them $90 for the time she had been there!!! Are you freaking kidding me?!? So I told my neighbor to leave and I would deal with them when I got there at which time they explained to me that if she left without paying them, they would be forced to call animal control and turn her over to them. As much as she wanted to stay, she couldn't as she has 2 small children who she left with another neighbor. What came out of my mouth next can't be repeated, but the gist was if my dog wasn't there when I got there very bad things would happen. When I was 5 minutes away I called to let them know and asked them to have her ready to go and at that time I was told that the $90 was now $190! I knew that another argument was futile, so I just payed the crooks and took my little girl to a vet that cared more about her welfare than the bottom line!! In short, Yakima Pet Emergency doesn't care about your fur baby, and I beg you to take your little guy or girl to someone that does! There are some things that are more important than the bottom line. read more

My 12 month old dog was hit by a car on a Sunday evening. We were so thankful they were available. They stabilized her and put a splint on her broken leg. Because I couldn't afford to leave her with them over night they gave me medication to keep her comfortable overnight until we could get her to our vet's office. There was never any chance of saving her leg but because of PES we still have our dog. They were excellent and even before I brought my dog in they explained their prices. After examining my dog they took me into a side room to explain our option and the costs of the different services. They even contacted me later to check and see how she was doing. For evening and weekend emergencies this place is a life saver! read more

Last night we found an injured cat standing in the road confused in Cle Elum. It's face had been severely injured. If let us pick it up and bring it home so we could figure out help. It was so sweet I am sure someone must have been missing it. We called vets, called friends, texted and put out posts for help. Within an hour of being home with kitty, we were in the truck driving to Yakima for the only pet care available on a Saturday night. By the time we arrived, we were heart broken and so worried. If things couldn't get worse they did. Upon our arrival to Yakima Pet Emergency we were greeted with ZERO compassion or support. We shared the situation and they rudely blunted out that we had two options (1) surrender it or (2) be responsible for all the medical treatment and care needed. We attempted to explain multiple times that we wanted to help pay to support this baby, but it wasn't an open ended amount and could they help us understand this more (the injuries looked severe and we didn't just have an open ended limit and wanted to understand if we could be apart of the decision making process). They could have cared less what we were asking. In fact, the woman cut us off and blunted out so coldly that "look, make a decision it is one way or the other". We had only been there a minute or two at that point. We were in shock with the complete disrespect they gave and all we wanted was this baby to be seen immediately for care. We turned over this little one via the Good Samaritan plan so it could get the medical care needed. We hated doing it and were willing to pay for medical care and provide a home, but Yakima Pet Emergency could have cared less about us as people who were just trying to do the right thing. At this time, I would not ever ever ever go back. Instead, I would drive to Issaquah for help. They said we aren't allowed to know anything more about this cat, so I pray for it's peace and comfort and that they did the right thing and provided quick medical care. My heart is broken... Long story short: drive to Issaquah for care and shame on Yakima Pet Emergency for not being respectful to people who are attempting to do the right thing and whom are upset. read more

Got here when they opened at 11am, as recommended when I called the night before. Owners aren't allowed back. Wasn't really given an estimate on time and only got the call they were starting to treat my cat after 3hrs. Didn't leave Yakima until well after 5pm. They were kind and they took care of him, but I should have made the drive to Pasco, and we may have gotten home sooner. read more

Michelle, there is no difference between a vet for your pet, or the emergency room for yourself or family. Neither will give you quotes and neither will give you a diagnosis over the phone. One of our poodles had a grand mal seizure and Dr. O'Malley saved Molly's life. It was great that they were available after hours, because Molly had a grand mal seizure at 2 AM in the morning. Unfortunately the 2 times I've come here it was under pretty awful circumstances. They were nice and are no more expensive than if you called a vet after-hours. They provide a valuable emergency service for pets & owners. $110 minimum for emergency service of any type is pretty good, when's the last time you called a plumber after hours? read more

Beware of this clinic at all costs!!!! I've never in my entire life been so appalled at the conduct of a vet clinic. The only purpose of this clinic is to financially prey on folks that are forced to see a vet on the weekend. I took my little pup in that had been attacked by another dog and they couldn't keep tacking on fees fast enough. I was forced to give them my debit card number over 5 times being told if I didn't they couldn't treat my dog. No surgery was done... nothing except x-rays, fluids, pain killers and oxygen and they literally raped me for $3300. She was there for less than 6 hours before she was euthanized. Save yourself the heartache and financial ruin and make the drive to another clinic. read more

Was given paperwork while waiting in the car and told there was an hour to two hour wait. Filled out the paperwork and waited 30 minutes, walked to the door, and rang the doorbell. They said my Goldendoodle would be the next one to go back and wait inside. Meanwhile I saw 4-5 people have their pets attended and left. Being that I'd been wait over two hours I called to ask how much longer. They asked what was wrong with my dog as if I hadn't provided the information previously l. I explained my dog was bleeding from his ear and had a bad odor. All she responded was they are full and the ones that were currently being seen were urgent as if my dogs medical treatment wasn't urgent/needed and a 4 to 5 hour wait. read more

No stars paid 168.00 for nothing . My dog was choking on something could not get it up out of the throat the lady called me and wanted to do a chest x ray of heart and lungs I told her you can clearly see it's in the throa. she told me she did not see my dog coughin. she quotes us almost 600 and i told her it's in his throat she said she would have to sedate him asked the price refused to give us one. upon the lady bringing my dog out she asked what Kemal I had him at. my response was he has never been to a kennel and the lady ignored our Plea , I hope my dog makes it threw the night so I can get him to my vet if my dog has something stuck in his throat I will be returning to ask for a refund. 08/09/2021 or I will dispute my bill. If I could give no stars I would. My dog was in need of medical attention and I was told they couldn't see me even though they were open because the vet didn't want to see anymore animals. I then tell them it's my grandmas support animal and they told me sorry nothing I can do if the vet doesn't want to see you. Stay away. read more

First off I've only been to this facility twice. If I could give them zero stars I would. I called and verified I could stay with my pet as we were having to put him to sleep and "yes" was the answer I was given; unfortunately the tech did not feel great about her IV skills. I had to sit in my car until she was able to place the IV, smh. Was told around 7-8 days to get my pet back and called exactly on the 8 day and was told now up to 3 weeks. The whole experience just sucked, I was already upset as to having to put my pet down but having their ignorance on top of my grief was over the top. read more

Had mixed feelings about posting this but this is to protect anybody else from these scam artists. My dog was dead in the back of the clinic for two hours before I turned him in alive they were shady about giving me x rays and letting me see him before I left him overnight he is my family so I wanted to make sure to see him before I left the clinic they kept giving me mixed reasons why I couldn't go back there and made me wait and the doctor was very pushy . Finally I was upset and they were making me sign a 850$ bill wich I wasn't worried about Since i paid 5k for my dog and they told me I have to wait to see him I told them I'll sign the paper but I'm not leaving the clinic with out seeing my dog and knowing he's ok with a stern attitude I could feel there was something shady about this place .Finally after two hours of sitting there she says sorry he passed but I knew he was dead as soon as 15 min and sorry excuses to not give me an X-ray no iv hooked up or no attempt to save him just dumped on a stainless steel table I hate to see such inhumane practices from people who train to save animals but I think they target your wallet here before having any kind of remorse and honesty. I have been to real professionals and this place and staff are setup to target loving pet owners these people are scam artists unfortunately I lost a member of my family I hope This helps anybody. Each time I have needed to use the evening/weekend services of this place they've been beyond helpful and cared for my pup as if she was their pup. Most recently, I took my pup in there late one night after she was attacked by an off-leash dangerous dog. She had multiple bites/lacerations and a fractured pelvis. The vet as well as each person I later spoke to on the phone was very patient and helpful explaining her healing and after-care so that she would be well taken care of when she came home with me. The answered every question I had thoroughly and kindly. They also clearly explained the pros and cons -and expenses- of each optional treatment (x-rays, blood work, anesthesia) and did not pressure me into anything. I felt well-informed. One time when I called with a random question, the girl who answered thought she had put me on hold, but she hadn't. Perhaps she was in training. When she relayed the question to the vet while I was "on hold", the vet asked every background and "what if" question she needed to and explained how to answer my question thoroughly and honestly. It was a heartwarming experience to be able to tell "when nobody's listening" that they really care about the animals' care that go through their clinic. Spendy, but what can you expect for such great care and round-the-clock nursing for sick and injured fur babies?? They offer Care Credit financing which I would recommend that everyone look into, if not PET INSURANCE which I am overdue in buying. read more

Words could never explain how thankful I am for the people that work here. I came in last Monday with a very sick pup that I had just bought the day before. My little Kotta. Unfortunately she was positive for porvo and the outcome was not looking very well for her at 9 weeks old. I can honestly say I have never met a vet (and assistants) that honestly care as much as these people do. Dr. O'Malley and her team saved my pet's life; and she is hardly a pet - she is a very important member of our family that required an emergency surgery at 4:00 on a Saturday night. They were kind, comforting, and informative. The wait was minimal considering how busy they were. We had to leave her for two (terribly worrying) nights and they kept us well-informed every step of the way. Her discharge information was very thorough, detail-oriented, and seemingly tailored personally for our precious 20 week-old yellow lab. They never seemed irritated or prone to rush me off the phone when I called with follow up questions in the period after we brought her home (and I called often). They made me wait 2 hours to get my dog in, doctor criticizing me hard for the first 10 minutes of seeing her even though I had no idea what was going on. After getting my dog in, they pressured me to get procedures that weren't necessary for my dog to be done with a promise she was going to be ok. After leaving for a couple hours they were going to call when she was ready for surgery, 5 hours later I called them and they told me to come in urgent to sign some papers before they could start. I go in, them making me wait another hour before to sign the papers, just for them to tell me my dog passed an hour ago. WITH NO CALL WARNING. But they were soo eager for me to pay my bill when ready to leave. I got my dog cremated and they told me to wait two weeks. I called after two weeks cause they hadn't called, just to be told "Oh we've had your dogs ashes for a couple days, sorry we didn't call." I just wanted my dog back but you guys have horrible people service and no remorse. read more

Last Friday evening on Labor Day weekend a dog was brought to me that had been run over and thrown into the canal . This dog was badly injured with two broken legs and internal injuries. It was in a lot of pain. YPES took the dog in and humanely put it down and did it for FREE. If they had not done that this poor dog would have suffered the entire weekend, and still had to be put down. It was in shock. I'm very grateful to them for this service. It was a horrible situation ; and they brought this poor dog relief. Thank you so much! read more

The doctor was wonderful, took time to show me all the x-ray & ultrasound images & explained them in detail. Had a awful experience, would not take any animal back to them as all they want is your money. Don't take the time or don't know what to look for. Spent $1000 for 24 hours and they still could not tell me what was wrong with our dog but wanted to keep her. Took our dog to WSU and had an answer in less than 12 hours and they saved my dog, If I would have left her at PES she would have died. They just want your money are very rude. read more
