We were looking for a Chihuahua mix somewhat nearby where we didn't have to get the dog shipped. We had a heck of a time and then all of a sudden we found our little angel on PetLoverz website listed by the Yakima Valley pet rescue. We fill out an application and heard back right away, and their communication was excellent throughout the whole process. Any questions we had were answered promptly and they were very accommodating because we could not pick up our little angel right away. they definitely care about their mission and making sure that any pets find new homes and are very particular about the homes that the pets are placed in. We would highly recommend this dedicated group when looking for a pet to rescue and bring home! read more

Good Job taking care of lost pets. They give out free pet food and vaccinations. I highly recommend volunteering or checking it out.

Two feral mama dogs showed up at work. By the time we noticed them they had had their litters, but it was a few weeks before they were found. A total of 14 pups. No other rescue organization in the valley was able to help in a timely fashion (or at all). YVPR promptly set me up with equipment to foster the pups, and promptly got to work deworming and finding others to help foster the litters....as soon as the pups are big enough, YVPR is ready to vaccinate them. Every rescue group is strained with abandoned and stray animals right now, so be patient with them. YVPR has been amazing, and I look forward to continuing my support of their work. read more

I adopted my puppy here and he is the best puppy ever! It's clear that he was fostered in a loving environment as the result is a puppy that is beyond smart and well adapted. I was so lucky to be able to meet Bev and her great rescue group. I now have an awesome companion for years to come because of them. read more

Absolutely the most uncaring and unprofessional place I have ever dealt with i had tried to place my pet up for adoption they took over 30 days to even contact me the took the post off petfinder claiming they had adoptee and they were demanding copy of paper work and nasty text messages and I even made a phone call to Shelley she answered I ask if this was her she replied Well maybe I guess I tried to explain that I am not being rude instead I get 4 paged long text how I am wrong and how Michelle was only doing her job then she text me at 9 pm asking if I would be incontact with the adopter I am utterly disgusted how passive aggressive she is and what a liar they are I would never treat anyone like this I even explain to her that my husbands grandmother died from covid and needed this extra time to get it arranged for meet and greet they are way to pushy obviously narcissistic do not come here read more

On 9-18-19 i and my wife went to this rescue place on a recommendation of someone and when we arrived this place was a mess. The parking is out of code. Cause of all the cars parked we had a hard time even going through the gate. There was broken animal cages piled up in the front up around the fence. The yard was junky. As we went in before the front door the stinch of animal piss and poo was so bad it made us gag. When we went in, the place was filthy and it was over crowded with street people but never seen any animals there except a couple of kittens. The woman that was running it was a self righteous and belittled us. We said we were recommended to this place through some one on face book cause we had a stray cat that needed to be rescued, she flat out called us a lier. She was so mean she made my wife cry. How this place was certified is beyond me. With all the health violations this place should of been condemned. Anyone who brings there animals to this place need to stay away. If this is how this so called non profit pet rescue treat people think about how they would treat the animals. There is no way we recommended this place except for it to be shut down. read more

We adopted the cutest little dog from there. He is adorable and had been trained. We found him at the WoofStock Festival. YVPR had a booth there. Poor thing was wet, scared and had peed on himself. He badly need grooming. He was so happy to go home with us. They didn't have any paperwork for Rabies so he had to get his shots before he could get groomed. He is a very picky eater and was underweight. They had no info on his food, habits from his Foster Mother. I was not impressed with their care at all. In spite of the poor care, he gained weight and is now a happy, healthy member of our family. Oh and so cute. read more

Got back to us quickly but with a whole 2-3 more pages with ridiculous questions. Already adopted out two of the puppies we were interested in, I asked why they didn't just give us an approval or denial but they said it was all part of the screening. Not according to their FAQs or anywhere else on the site, they never even said if we were approved or denied! Beware, this place is disorganized and can't keep to their own rules or adoption process. They say it can be very competitive but it seems like they push those through of certain 'social standing', much faster than the rest. We bought a kitten from these people on a Saturday afternoon. BY SUNDAY NIGHT HE WAS DEAD. YVPR knew when we adopted the kitten that he was sick, but they declined to tell us that. Even after they knew that he was being adopted as a service animal. This was heart-wrenching, and the people there do not even care. Go anywhere else. Yes, their animals are precious, but they do not take care of the animals. When we got 'Teardrop' he was covered in his own diarrhea and had *not* been cleaned. Another kitten from the same litter was also covered in his own diarrhea but rather then attending to this kitten's obvious needs, the lady neglected to care for him in favor of the sale of another kitten. Save your time and hopes on this place. No one can even be bothered to get back to you. One fills out an application and "IF" you are chosen for a pet, THEY will contact you within 72 hours. No news means you weren't selected for the pet you were interested in. This is no way to run a pet rescue. read more

Yakima Valley Pet Rescue is one of the most genuine and honest rescues out there. They are completely non profit and their one and only top priority and concern is the animals welfare. They take adoption very seriously and won't just adopt to anyone that "wow goes out of their busy way and life to fill out an application". Clearly the bitter people who have left bad reviews because they didn't get a response shows what kind of person you are and I'm happy yvpr didn't choose you to let their precious puppy go to. They know what they are doing. And to the other person, shame on you for giving them a bad review after they so graciously adopted out to a lovely pet. You obviously don't know or are just ignorant to the fact that the foster mom was just that to a homeless animal. You should be thankful she took care and volunteered her time to take in this poor animal to her home. Not demanding all this info etc. just be thankful for your new addition. It's sad to see how ungrateful some people can be. When you take a look at this persons reviews however you can see that clearly they are just bitter about their sad life in general and just complain about everything. I think you can tell a lot about a rescue group by the thorough and thoughtful write ups about each animal, I believe these reflect they ultimately want the most successful adoptions possible, and also the connection and care devoted to the animals in their foster homes. We have adopted 2 wonderful pups from YVPR and I recommend them to family and friends enthusiastically. I am so thankful for our pups that we try to continue to help from afar (western WA). I thoroughly appreciate how fragile it can be when you are a network of awesome foster homes without a full-time front office. They clearly operate on a shoestring and thrive on the efforts of their network of volunteers. We have had nothing but great experience with their team who I believe deserve a "standing O". I will also note that I compliment their spay/neuter policy. For puppies, you must bring and invoice showing you have paid your vet for the procedure at the time your vet considers it medically best - so many good things about this when you think about -ultimately in the best interest of the animals. Bottom line, I appreciate what YVPR accomplishes for the animals. THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO. read more

We adopted a dog that was not properly assessed, and when we asked for help because the dogs fear too high and her needs were well over how we, a family with four small children could help her, they were absolutely no help. My family is heartbroken by this experience. I respect the work of rescuing pets, and I know it's hard work and mostly volunteer, but this was beyond unprofessional. UVPR this was unethical. I can accept a turn-down but there is NO EXCUSE for the unprofessional discourtesy of no reply. I want to say thank you to Yakima Valley Pet Rescue. Your selfless hard work, care, concern and devotion to these animals that others have thrown away. I just adopted a lovely new family member from their rescue. She's everything they said she was. From the very beginning the entire process was so seamless and easy. I filled out the application online and within 24 hours got a phone call from the adoption coordinator to talk to me about my application. She asked some questions and so did i.we then made arrangements for me to come and meet the companion that I was interested in. The meeting was fabulous. The foster mom was there so I could ask questions, I was given time alone with my beautiful girl and allowed to walk her and play with her and offer her treats. After the adoption I was given a bag with treats, toy, sample bags of food and the foster mom's contact info and the adoption coordinators info just in case I had any questions. Of course I did and they were answered right away thru a text message. I have nothing negative to say about YVPR. Just keep up the good work and thank you read more

Just adopted a puppy from these people a couple weeks ago. These people are nice, friendly, and doing a great serrvice for the pets in the area. There concern is obviously to find good homes for a lot of pets. Our puppy (10 weeks) had documentation of his shots and advice of next shots required. There fee is very reasonable. All the pets I saw at their location (4 dogs) all appeared clean and healthy. read more

We are very happy. We just adopted our little love bug from Yakima Valley Pet Rescue. We found her on Petfinder.com. We filled out the application on line and we were notified that our application was approved and we then we were contacted by phone. We set up the meet and greet time to make sure we were a good fit and we adopted her. The foster family was there so we had the opportunity to ask questions. The adoption fee was reasonable and they never asked for any money prior to setting up the appointment. I never heard of this organization before and I checked them out on their website, Yelp, and their Facebook page. Their adoption application is not short, but it wasn't difficult to fill out. Their objective is to match the pets up with the right home so it will be a long lasting and successful adoption. Thank you Yakima Valley Pet Rescue volunteers for all of the great work you do and for rescuing our little girl and thank you to the foster family for taking such good care of her.
