After a long trail run last May 16th, I found myself in need of immediate treatment. I was able to secure a same-day appointment at YAN CHINESE MASSAGE (YCM); with a therapist named MIA. I told MIA my situation. MIA focused on treatment where I needed the most (legs). I was very satisfied with the session. MIA demonstrated experience and attention to detail. The treatment was so effective, that I secured a follow up half-hour session on the same day. This time, MIA focused on deep tissue treatment. This treatment was exactly what I needed as follow up after the long trail run. I shared my treatment experience with my Wife and recommended MIA to her. Parking at the business lot might be an issue on busy days. YCM shares space with other businesses; however, there are several parking options near the business. Although somewhat rustic, the facility was clean and in good order. The treatment room was comfortable. Before securing my appointment with YCM, I read some of the reviews listed on this thread. I'm pleased to report that I did not experience any of the adverse comments made regarding YCM. At the time of my treatment, YCM did not employ a front desk attendant; it is not "Massage Envy". So inevitably, one of the therapists has to respond to someone entering their business. I felt MIA did her best to take care of the front counter situations, and got back to the treatment table as soon as she could. Also, I believe the treatment room was not equipped with a towel warmer; so, MIA might have had to go outside the treatment room to get the warm towel ready for me. Expect these simple things to happen and relax. I had absolutely no problem with the reported "tipping issue"; not even a hint of that issue came up. I had no issues communicating with MIA. I hope I can secure another session at YCM/MIA on my next trip to the Eastern Sierras. read more

I got in the same day & they really worked out the knots in my upper back. Ive been diagnosed auto immune disorders & carry an unnatural amount of tension in my neck & shoulders so the way they worked me out was really beneficial & relaxing for my body. I'm sore the next day ofc, typically you should be sore for 3 days after a massage if it was good & it sure is here! & my upper back & neck are feeling so much relief. Affordable too ! Stopped by after 2 days of skiing. Miya was amazing. She asked me what pressure I'd like and I asked for hard and she did amazing! Found necklace I found this necklace after my massage. I didn't realize I had grabbed it from the chair along with my things when I picked up my things to leave. I noticed shortly after as my clothing items seemed too heavy and it was too late to take back to the business because I had left the area. Massage was good but wow tipping was insane. The lady yelled at me and my friend for a higher tip even though we gave more than 20%. She proceeded to attack us and told us we didn't leave enough. Super aggressive. Won't be back. For no heat, oil in a Dawn soap bottle, and constant breaks wasn't the relaxation we were looking for. 2/6: Since the owner replied, I can add more detail and will edit it, it may not be "yelling" for the owner but it sure made us feel like she was raising her voice at us. The lady in the black hair not the one behind the desk was rude, we told her we would leave a tip on the card because we didn't want to pay an atm fee since we were already paying a processing fee to use the card. She proceeded to grow upset with us for not paying in cash AND told us what we should be leaving for tips (which was fine but odd) not a misunderstanding whatsoever. I had to to stop her from berating us and left both of them 20%. We asked prior on the phone if they accepted cards and they said yes. Maybe instead of trying to excuse her behavior as a misunderstanding you should ask her to be more polite or patient when speaking to customers paying for services and tipping. read more

Living in Mammoth, where a good massage costs well over $100, I decided to give Yan a try. I was very pleased with the service I received, as well as the very reasonable prices. The ladies may lack a bit in communication - not native English speakers - but they certainly get the job done! I prefer a deep tissue massage and requested the masseuse walk on my back (they have the bar across the ceiling to balance with as they use their feet on your back) and it was wonderful! read more

Absolutely fantastic! Mia, my massage therapist, is wonderful. She seems to have eyes at the tip of her fingers because she hit all the right spots. The pain and stiffness I have had in my neck and left shoulder for the past three weeks is almost gone - quite a feat, I tell you. This isn't a relaxing massage, just so you know. It hurts and is the real deal, but you will feel so good and energized afterwards. read more

I love this place!! I was kindly greeted and helped to make an appointment. Then at my appointment I was given a very deep massage, at times it was almost a little painful, but she could really get into my shoulders and get the knots out. I felt amazing the next day and had way less knots in my back and shoulders. read more

Been here twice for a couples massage. Based on the lack of reviews I was a little worried but we had a very pleasant visit each time. As someone said in another review you might have the misfortune of being interrupted if a customer walks in during your visit. Of the two times I've visited this did happen once. It was also unfortunately a very loud customer who lacked the self awareness to speak quietly in a place of relaxation. I don't blame that on the business and It's not the end of the world, but it definitely would be much better for business if they had a designated front desk person to field those walk ins so that you can enjoy an uninterrupted massage. I imagine if my massage had been interrupted more than once on a single visit I might be pretty upset. Lucky it only happened once and was very brief. We will be back, we enjoyed our massage each time and everyone is very friendly. It's a bit pricey but was worth the money for the uninterrupted version! read more

wow. best hour of my life. the full body for one hour massage at $75 for the session, best money i've spent in a long time they were kind and asked how aggressive or gentle i'd like her to be , i went with medium and it was perfect. they really mean full body. she got my face, scalp, feet, hands, oh my god the hands were amazing. she was pulling my arms and stretching my muscles to make sure she got allll of my shoulder muscles. 10/10 recommend. read more

Went in to get a massage with my friend. Massage was good, my lady, the one with the black hair, was a little rough but overall was okay. The reason for giving this place a one star is due to the customer service at this place. My friend and I went to pay and the lady that did my massage started berating my friend and I. We tipped 20% but the lady that did my massage insisted that we tip more and in cash. She proceeded to raise her voice at us when we let her know that we didn't have any cash which we thought was okay since we had asked prior when booking our appointment if it was okay to pay with card. The lady continued to insist we take cash out the ATM which had a service fee, and we already had paid a service fee to pay for the massage with our card. That lady made it very clear she was upset we didn't leave a cash tip. Definitely will not be coming back as that lady made us feel very uncomfortable. read more

First of all, I don't like giving bad reviews, but this experience was much less than pleasant. You're better off getting a massage at any other spot in town for sure including Mammoth. During the massage, the lady that was massaging me stepped out 3 times, two to attend clients and once to fix the music. There was a language barrier, and a couple of times, my husband couldn't understand the lady that was massaging him and she then proceeded to speak in another language and laughed with the lady that was massaging me. The massages were priced just as they are at other places and when my husband tipped $20 bucks, she demanded more, which my husband did, only to get a mediocre massage with a crappy ambiance. For that price, I would of at least hope they could afford better products too, they had the massage oil in a Dawn bottle and a bottle of Lubriderm. Don't waste your money, book somewhere else where you will get your full uninterrupted hour and an overall better experience. read more
