So my mother has macular degeneration and moved here last year, so I wanted to update her prescription and find a provider. I will never go back to this place, ever, after all of the back-and-forth. Here's a list of things that went wrong: 1. Getting her glasses. They said it was only 2-3 weeks. It ended up being closer to 2-3 *months* before she got both scripts for her near and far-sighted glasses. One was late because they messed up the lenses the first time and had to redo them. They did not tell me this until I started complaining about why it was taking so long. 2. Getting insurance figured out. Most of the people I saw there were my mother's age and are (likely) on Medicare. You would think they never saw a Medicare card in their life. Adding in Tricare and federal BCBS, they could not figure out how bill her insurance. At first they said they couldn't run anything medical and charged us almost full price. Next time, they got all three insurances added to her account and started believing me that they could bill her medical because of her *medical diagnosis* of macular degeneration. Which leads me to... 3. Correctly billing for their services. I've been getting auto-mailed bills for an extra $100, saying that the insurance needs to be figured out. Well, I've been there twice, in person, with my mom to get this sorted, but apparently nothing has been done except updating her profile. This is totally opposite of what they promised to do, which is rerun her insurances and provide a *refund* for the difference she already paid. I'm calling them tomorrow to raise some grief about why, since APRIL, I'm still dealing with their nonsense. I'm at the point where the next establishment I'm calling is the Minnesota Board of Optometry. I'm an attorney, so remember kids that you can pursue legal options if your optometrist keeps messing up your prescription. Don't bring your elderly parents here. They also tried to upsell my mom on a pair of Kate Spade glasses when she's on a fixed income and has dementia. That sort of sales work is shady and morally repugnant. read more

Don't bother going here when you have so many other options. I went to get my annual exam and when I was done I was told I had to pay over $70 for my contact exam. I asked how that was possible since I only needed a contact exam and had no idea they had performed 2 different exams for me. Mind you we are still in this COVID environment and they could do a full exam. As far as I could tell there was only one exam and I was never informed that they were doing two. My insurance only covers a free exam each year so I felt completely ripped off. I won't ever be going back again. I tried to get an answer about how this was possible and the cashier could not explain anything. read more

I LOVE Dr. Haggerman. He is the best Doc for contact lenses. He is very patient and won't give up on you. They have state of the art equipment here, so you don't have to get your eyes dilated if you don't want to....costs a bit more - but worth it to me. The desk people are interesting. I have had some not-cool insurance issues and some of the techs are odd too. I have seen multiple people say this on Yelp....and I agree. But I want the best experience for my eyes - so even though I live an hour away now, I go here for this doctor. No other reason - except the equipment too I guess. But I would go anywhere for this doc if I was a contact lenses wearer. read more

I went for my annual check-up and needed to get new glasses. My husband joined me so I could help him pick out new glasses as well. I had recently started a new job so didn't realize I hadn't signed up for VSP but a different coverage. I offered to go home and look up the proper benefits and come back to save them time. But instead, they offered to search for me in all coverage options until they found me. Which they did! They were extremely patient and helpful as we went over coverages and picked out glasses. The process took the time (especially with 2 people) and we were the last people there. They never once made us feel rushed or like we were a nuisance but were happy and friendly throughout the whole process. I've had nothing but positive experiences here and I would highly recommend. I feel comfortable finally writing a review for this place since I'm NO LONGER a patient of this shop. My first year of going to this eye doctor was relatively uneventful, but the second year took a turn for the worst. First of all, storms from last year delayed their supplier from getting their contacts on time. I had to go back a couple of times to to get samples of my contacts. Another time, their computers crashed that delayed me getting my contacts another two weeks. On top of that, I had to KEEP CALLING each time that these setbacks occurred. This is POOR customer service. If you know your patients won't be getting what they need because of an office or supplier issue, CALL you customers and TELL THEM to expect a delay. Don't act like your patient is "irritating you" with calling twice a week if you're not making the effort. To add salt to the wound, they didn't call when they DID come in. I had enough and switched as soon as my next yearly appointment came due. read more

I've been here for eye exams twice and have been very happy both times. The staff is really friendly. You're greeted with a smile and maybe some laughter from the front desk staff right away. The doctor and assistants are friendly and knowledgable. They take the time to explain what they're doing and show you the results of the tests. They make recommendations but dont push you to buy anything. I plan to keep going here for exams. I can't comment on the process and service of buying glasses. read more

My family has gone to Yankee Eye Clinic a couple of times. While the doctors are friendly and good, you will need to make sure you do your own research on what you will pay prior to visiting the clinic and you must check with your Health Plan if Yankee Eye clinic is in network and what services are covered. You might think when Yankee's front desk tell's you after they scan your insurance card that there will be no copay or deductible that they have run your insurance through a system and you can trust that at a minimum since they have clearly told you that there are no out of pocket costs they must have seen a screen that clearly stated this. And when they send you a bill for $250 for the appointment you might expect that they would take some accountability ( since this is a standard practice - telling client there are no costs to ensure they stay for their appointments - as it has happened to two separate members of our family - shame on us for letting it ) . We are out nearly $500 for preventative exams that would have cost $0 at eye care providers we would have gone to - if Yankee Eye Care had honest front desk procedures. read more

I went here for my annual checkup and it was ok, but they forgot to check the distance between my eyes for the prescription, for glasses I would get somewhere else, and so I had to make another appointment to get that done, even though it is a one minute process. Then, my wife went a couple weeks after me and they not only forgot to do the same test on her, but didn't even give her the prescription. Thankfully, I was in the truck to have her go back in right away for both of the missing items. Very disorganized employees. read more

I'm pretty new to this clinic, and I got recommended by my family members who also come here. I usually have social anxiety with talking to strangers but here at Yankee they made me feel very comfortable. If you have questions, they will find a way or go out of their way to help you. The doctors here are also being considerate and will ask you all the necessary questions to make sure your prescription is right for you! I loved the experience here and will continue to come and recommend to other friends and family members!! read more

They are great! First visit was an emergency and they not only waited for us to show up (right at closing time) but also took great care with my son and we never felt rushed. He has been back twice and always says how nice everyone is and that he likes the doctors. The office is very clean and neat looking. The front desk gals are super friendly. My family of four went here for a couple years. Overall with mixed results. Docs were good once you got in to them. However we finally decided to go elsewhere. We have each been kept waiting excessive amounts of time, they ordered the wrong glasses for my daughter (and tried to convince a 9 yr old she wanted blue instead of pink glasses). Then made minimal efforts to repair any of these issues. They were short with us when we left after waiting 45 mins for an appointment. Then when we requested our records be released, they escalated to overt rudeness. Thanks for affirming the decision! Update in July 2018- when moving I asked them if they would send my records. They have no knowledge of me ever being a patient. I now have to get in quick somewhere so I can get contacts while moving. read more

Not sure why the negative reviews. I've been coming here for almost 20 years. I have a VERY strong prescription and have always found them knowledgeable, caring and easy to work with. A while back I had issues with a frame that kept breaking (lenses too thick) and then replaced it twice, without issues, even after it was out of warranty. Overall, I'm very happy and have no plans of going anywhere else. read more

Doctor was great for exam and evaluation of eye health. That was a four star experience. But purchase of glasses has taken two months! First order I had to call them after two weeks to see if in; I was told the frames were back ordered. Then one mor week they were in. Lenses were not spaced to align with eyes thus had to order new lenses and wait ten days. Next lenses did not enable clear focus; at that time they asked type of lenses from prior frames! Now two weeks later got pair this morning and so far so good. Update: Latest pair meets all my expectations. Too bad it too so long to get to this point. read more

Walking in, the place has a nice optical boutique vibe. Browsing the frames, I was happy with the selection. My eye exam was fairly normal, but the opt tech was a bit odd and a gave an odd vibe. Must have been some missed humor. I was able to find a great pair of Oakley frames with nice coated lenses. My disappointment was the opt techs did not know how to adjust the frames to my nose so my bifocals are clear. After a few months of my frustration to trying to adjust my eyes to the prescription with blurry reading and blurry long distance... anything not at arms length was blurry. In frustration, I took my glasses into my workshop and thermal formed the nose pieces to my face. I see GREAT now. Thus my rating. Great store, decent prescription, nice glasses, but all worthless if I cannot see, so poor score for opt techs. read more

The doctor is fantastic, but it stops there. They will lie to you about the insurance they take to get you in the door. From being disorganized and impatient to not returning phone calls, voicemails, nor emails, the service that I received at Yankee Eye Clinic Eagan was beyond unacceptable. I ordered glasses and was assured that the glasses would be ready for pick up within 7-10 business days. It took 42 days total for the glasses to be ready for pick up. One month ago, I was promised that I would receive a partial refund on the glasses, which I still have not received. (No surprise). For the third time, where is my refund, Yankee Eye Clinic? What a mistake I made to come here. I will not be returning. Yikes! read more

This is probably the worst eye clinic I have been to. The customer service is horrible. Both myself and my wife ordered glasses. they called after 2 weeks that my wife's glasses are ready. When she went there, they broke the glasses when trying to fit them on my wife. They told that they will order replacement and they should be there in 3 days. 2 weeks went by and no communication from them. We kept calling and till date no glasses. I order a black frame for my glasses. they made my glasses with blue frame. they told me that I should use blue frame for now and they will replace them once we get black frame. this is very unprofessional. Dr Heggermann is the best. I especially like the Optimap option to take a picture of the retina and not get eyes dilated. Allows them to archive retinal pictures over the years to see if there are changes. I'd recommend him to anyone! read more

I've had the best experience at Yankee Eye Clinic, Dr. Grange is very professional, knowledgeable and cares about his patients well being. I had been dealing with MGD for over a year at another clinic that was draining my wallet. I did have my records transferred, prior to my appointment, he did his homework...he listened, was apologizing for the other clinic. I had the Lipiflow treatment on the same evening. All of the staff are friendly and treat patients with respect. read more

My family and I were Yankee clients for several years until the last time we ordered a pair of glasses through them. The glasses came in late and were damaged with scratches on the lenses so Yankee placed an order for a replacement lens. Although both lenses were scratched, Yankee claimed to only be aware of one of the scratches and replaced one lens. Unfortunately, they replaced it with a lens that had another scratch. We made them aware of the problem and Yankee finally ordered two lenses for replacement, but because of their carelessness, we decided to take our business elsewhere. Although we won't be going back, we are hopeful that they will be more careful with their products in the future and that their customer service will return to the positive and helpful service that it once was. read more

While I really like the doc I saw at this clinic - the entire rest of the experience was a goat rodeo. AND I am somewhat ashamed to say that I gave them two shots and they failed BOTH times in the very same ways! The staff at this place has not a clue. The 1st time I went there, I wanted to be sure that my insurance was going to cover what I was going to do - because I know it is all covered elsewhere. They SAID they verified everything, but then I got bills the following month in the mail for $160. I called to ask for an explanation, and they treated me like I had committed a crime. I was so annoyed, and vowed to never return. They kept calling me telling me I was due for an exam, and my daugther was almost out of contacts, so I caved. But I told them about the previous experience and she assured me that they would call and verify everything - and when we went in for the appointments, I again asked if everything was covered. They AGAIN assured me that all had been verified. Of course as soon as the appointment was over - they said I owed $120 - AND then after I paid what they said I owed, they called and told me that I owed MORE. They said my benefits had been exhaustedd for the year - so my insurance only paid $13. I was stunned. If that were really the case - I would have gotten just enough contacts to make it to the next insurance opportunity, but I was sure it was available. Not only that, but they had told me that they would MAIL me rebate forms, and they didn't. I went in to get the contacts that I had paid for and told them that they had dissapointed and given me misinformation for the last time. I would not be back. They just looked at me and talked to me very condescendingly at best. I was able to get the rebate forms, but they had no idea what the rebates were at the desk. A few weeks later I got a benefits rejection form in the mail. It was on coverage from an employer that I had not worked for in 3 years! I called them and asked them to check and see if they had indeed filed with that insurance company - and of course I already knew they had. They acted like I was the one who had made the mistake. It was unbelievable! I asked them which doc was the owner, and I took his card. I was going to write him a letter, but I figured that it will just be more of my time wasted, and I didn't. Now today I got a letter from my current insurance company - and of course they paid 100% of my visit, so I have to call them on Monday and have yet another fun conversation with these dopes. It is just so sad. I really like the doc I have seen, and I love where it is located. I even like the selection of frames they stock. No matter - their customer service sucks and their office staff can't keep things straight. It's pretty sad! I would never reccomend this place! Wal-Mart is right across the street people - and they are NICE there. read more

Yankee Eye Clinic is horrible. Do yourself a favor and don't go there. They don't return calls, the receptionists are rude, they screwed up my prescription, and their glasses are overprice. Everyone one I dealt with PUSHED their overpriced glasses and their contact lenses. I am going to Allina to have my prescription redone and to buy my glasses there. The answering system is a joke. No one returns calls. I was told by one person that my prescription would be mailed. After waiting one week and not receiving them, I tried to call. No one responded. I drove over there tonight only to be told that they are not allowed to mail prescriptions. What a joke. read more

I had a difficult time finding a pair of contacts that worked for me and the team was so helpful (and patient) while we found ones that worked. I was a customer of Yankee Eye Clinic in Eagan, MN. In 2015 I purchased 2 pairs of bifocal eye glasses at the clinic. In June, 2016 I went in to have two other pairs of glasses (not purchased there) tightened up. In the process of tightening up the glasses the clinician broke one of the frames. Rachel (from the optical department) indicated in a follow up phone conversation that if I could find a replacement frame (from where I originally purchased the glasses) that Yankee Eye Clinic would refund the cost. I did find a replacement frame and in mid-July sent her copies of my $86 receipt. It is now September and I have not yet received the refund. I have called repeatedly and left messages each time asking that Rachel please return my call. However, she is not returning my calls. The fact that she won't return my phone calls and discuss this matter demonstrates their lack of customer focus and customer service. read more
