The only thing that could have made this appointment better would have been a pina colada, but then one's vision would get blurry and you may walk out of the office wearing a pair of pint glasses; rather than some fashionable frames.

Pre-covid I loved the sales staff, post covid it depends on who you get- you can be upcharged or they can be understanding for little add ons (ie: i am in between prescriptions where one of my lens is a little thicker and had some sales tell me it will be fine and will look okay without paying extra to shave it down, and another one where I told her i was told it would look okay, she told me it won't be and I ended up paying extra and then next year I was told I was okay again). Also, i had the wrong glasses ordered so had to wait an extra two weeks once and then another time I waited a month and my glasses didn't show up so I called to be told that I needed to wait for them to call me. I waited another month and never got a call and called in and they said it's been waiting. So they don't have time to call me about my glasses but send non stop ads via texts and emails. My advice is to go for the eye doctors but buy glasses elsewhere

The staff was very friendly and patient with me AND with my two year old running around in their play area! Even though the store was busy at the time, they went out of their way to show me and give me their opinion on a wide selection of frames, without making me feel rushed. I was paired with a staff member with a similar prescription (the store manager, Odessa) which turned out to be very helpful in selecting frames as well as lens options that best suited that prescription. We had narrowed it down to two frames, and when I couldn't decide between them, she offered to take pictures of me with both so that I could see them from different angles. A small thing, but another example of their attentiveness and above-and-beyond service. My glasses arrived very quickly and exactly as expected, and I received the same great service when I picked them up and had them fitted. I would definitely go back!

I do not recall getting a glaucoma test (the "puff of air" one) at all. I was then shown out to the waiting room to choose frames. There were only three display racks of men's frames, which were not sorted by style or manufacturer. I picked a few to try, and made my final decision. I wrote a check for my portion of the charges, and picked up my glasses a week later. Today I got a bill for an additional $20 that wasn't covered by my insurance company. Not happy. Won't go back.

Multiple times he cut me off while I was trying to speak or ask questions regarding my family member's care. What stood out most was his comment, "Well you can be mad at me," while continuing to ignore the concerns and questions being brought up. In my 15 years working in healthcare, I have never witnessed a physician speak to a patient or family member that way. It showed a complete lack of bedside manner, professionalism, and compassion. Advocating for a loved one should not be met with dismissiveness or hostility. Very disappointing experience.

In fact, Uptown Vision's prices beat almost everyone in the Twin Cities. Becca, the manager, is a fashion maven who knows what's in style and what fits your face. I am too particular, especially about tints, and Uptown Vision carefully reviews my color choices and shading percentages. Their frame selection is au courant, and they offer Blackfin, Masunaga, Andy Wolf, Maui Jim, and Dita, amongst others. Their optometrist is empathetic, listens, and thorough, plus Uptown Vision accepts most insurance policies. Trust me, it's the way to go in the Twin Cities.

While the primary eye doctor was there supervising, the trainee was incredibly incompetent. What should've been 5mins to run these few tests took over 30. I had to ask multiple times for her to clarify what I was supposed to do during the tests. At one point the trainee even hit my eye with the machine. However the biggest issue was the front office staff - they were quick to complain about any inconvenience. As I in the sitting area waiting, I overheard them complaining about customers and how a certain customer was a "massive headache". Probably not the time and place to be complaining about customers when customers are in earshot! The exam itself went fine. Dr. Olson was quick and pleasant. A little annoyed that I was left sitting around for 25mins during my contact lens check appt only for the doc to spend about 30 seconds checking out my lenses. But that wasn't the Doctor's fault, just poor scheduling. Also, I've never had to come in for a second "contact lens check" appt in my life - complete waste of time. The attitude and behavior of the rest of the office team is not worth coming here. Also beware about ordering contact lenses from their office. I was able to order them online for about $200 cheaper than they were quoting (and got them delivered in 4 days vs 5 weeks that the office was estimating).

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I feel confident I'm getting the best care for my eyes! I see Dr. VanMeter for my regular eye exams. She takes the time to listen to me and makes sure I'm happy with my prescription. She always manages to dig up some samples for me, despite my not-too-common prescription. The exam rooms are spotless. It's a nice, quiet setting that's perfect for folks who experience appointment anxiety. This past year was my first time ordering glasses from the store, and I'd definitely order again. The staff were extremely helpful with my indecisiveness about the frames. They had great suggestions, and I ended up with a pair I love. I initially had some issues with the fit, and they encouraged me to return as many times as necessary to ensure I was comfortable with them. Their selection of frames are on the expensive side, but they seem to be worth the price. Things to note: There's a parking garage in the same building. You can access it through the alley to the left of the clinic. They have convenient online scheduling. They also offer an online contact ordering system, but it's a little confusing to use. I typically ask staff to order my contacts for me after my appointments.
