A massive centre bustling with food vendors and a massive grocery store. The food court really made me feel like I was in a night market. So many vendors with so many options. The food was laid out so picturesque at some stalls as well. Everything was very much made fresh to order as well. The facility itself is fairly clean and the restrooms seem to be serviced regularly. I do wish the entrances smelled less like cigarettes but they can't really control what goes on outside and the way that it wafts inside. read more

yaohan centre in richmond feels like one of those places that's a little rough around the edges but still full of life. the anchor tenant is osaka supermarket, but the real star here is easily the food court tucked inside. getting upstairs felt a bit chaotic -- the up escalator was out of service, and once you make your way up there's a bit of a hodgepodge of businesses scattered around: a travel agency, an eyeglass shop, and a handful of storefronts that looked like they'd already called it a day. it has that slightly worn, utilitarian mall vibe that hasn't changed much over the years. the original plan was simple: swing by for a mango drink and head out. but the moment you step into the food court, that plan starts to unravel. the room is huge and buzzing. rows of simple square tables with black metal chairs and yellow cushions stretch across the floor, most of them filled with people digging into steaming bowls, noodle soups, and rice plates. trays are everywhere, bags of takeout stacked on tables, and diners bundled up in winter jackets leaning over their meals. along the perimeter, bright stall signs in chinese and english line the walls, each with its own queue forming in front. the soundtrack of the space is constant motion, conversations in multiple languages, the clatter of trays and chopsticks, and every few seconds the sharp, high pitched beeping of pagers announcing that someone's order is ready. despite the chaos, the system clearly works, with people flowing between stalls, grabbing food, and settling into any open seat they can find. so busy, so many options for dine in. what was supposed to be a quick stop for a mango drink somehow turned into dinner instead and judging by the packed tables and steady stream of people coming through, that's probably how most visits to yaohan centre end up. read more

Love this food court! Went for the first time tonight and I had the best sweet n sour pork! After 7pm, vendors do three dish deals for $18-27 dollars total! It's awesome and you get SO MUCH FOOD! Great friendly service too! Lots of awesome dishes to choose from too. We got, chow mein, sweet n sour pork, ginger pork ribs, pork belly, broccoli and garlic beans, fried chicken, and soy chicken. read more

This is a bustling market/mall with a large parking lot that is full to the gills on weekends. One of the most popular money exchange spots in the area is inside, as well as a food court. We came here (we've been before) for the money exchange (as it turns out it does help to have Canadian money in Richmond; I've been to other parts of B.C. and never used it, but it's a bit "old school" in these parts - also of course if you are particular about getting a good rate on your dollar then you'll want to exchange, probably. We also got the rice rolls from the food court. My spouse enjoyed the addition of sprouts on top of his and I liked the way they rolled the egg into mine. Recommend this spot if you are needing a quick place to get your bearings. read more

Has been over 12years since we have been here for grocery pick up. I always loved coming here as our first stop as we mostly go to the t&t here to get hot pot items or even just ones for cooking at home. Only thing that could be even better is the parking lay out is very weird you have the out door open air lot for the mall portion then you have the parkade like structure witch is only 1 level but is just the covered roof out side of the t&t stor it self. Loved the building next door and the food court on l2 when coming off the escolator is always nice to get something and even just hang out after your long commute when returning home. Over all, I would come back if we end up coming back here again since the lay out has the feel of FMP but Yoahan has the adventage of the second floor for small stores and a medical clinic at the end of the hallway. read more

Should give a tip that when the food court is about to close in 30 minutes, the 三餸一飯 places run a special which is $35 to $37 for 3 dishes in large round tin containers. Great deal. Terribly underwhelming "mall" anchored by a fantastic grocery store and an excellent food court. Reminds me a lot of the Crystal Mall in Burnaby, both pros and cons (more of the latter than the former): grimy, run-down, sparsely populated, even more sparsely operated, with many of the shops either empty, unmanned, or offering services or products that seem shady at best. Parking is free in the lot out front, but cramped and aggressively patrolled. You're better off visiting the adjacent Aberdeen Center for, well...just about every other reason imaginable. read more

We've always loved this place. Best place to buy groceries and best place to buy Chinese food and snacks. The food court is amazing with different selections and authentic flavor. They speak English, Mandarin and Cantonese, you see the survival spirit of immigrants in the new homeland. Things here are fresh and abundant. Asians are very picky and skeptical for freshness and they have achieved this high standard and request. Not only a supermarket, it is more like a social spot for Asians who can get more than groceries here, like financial services, traveling arrangements and others. Stopped by the Yaohan Centre to look around while in Vancouver with friends...a lot of different stores here including supermarket, food court, several egg waffle places which we tried a couple to see which place had the best, herbal tea shop and more. A lot of little shops for clothing etc, and restroom inside the centre. Not what I consider a shopping centre as you see in other locations but a lot of vendor shops. Ok, if you need to stop by especially for any groceries from the supermarket. Parking lot has plenty of spaces and not a far walk from our hotel (about 10 minute walk). I've heard so much about Yaohan Centre. Supposedly there are a lot of shops but there wasn't many shops opened aside from a few upstairs and the grocery store/restaurants. I was looking for kids apparel but there aren't any apparel shops upstairs. I think because the shopping center looks big from the outside, I was expecting a bigger shopping mall like Aberdeen Center or Crystal Mall. Instead, it was much smaller and much more disappointing the variety of shops offered. They had a pretty good juice shop by the entrance. Osaka Supermarket well stocked. Fresh foods, dry goods and deli all good. Prices decent. The deli has all you need - fantuan rice wraps, quick dim sum, stir fries and sushi. Inside is clean. There is a nice mango smoothie shop just outside with good fresh mango smoothies at reasonable prices. Bathrooms are clean. Parking is easy. read more

We do our grocery here every week. Everythings is fine. Walked by the fast food section, food looks good. This week bought some sweet and sour pork. The meat was too dry and chewy. Also bought a specalty chicken, it suppose tasty. Turn out worst chicken I every had. Meat is tough and tasteless. read more

On my visit to Vancouver i came across this supermarket/food court/shopping center. The supermarket i think is a t&t which is a huge chinese supermarket. We found out that they have a huge array of cooked food on the side. We got the made to order sticky rice. It was amazing! You can add anything you want inside and its hot when you get it. We got some fried dough and some congee too. I wish they had the same sticky rice in nyc! I cant wait to go back to get another one!!! read more

Fun place to check out. For tourists like us, it's basically an Asian mall that has a big Osaka Asian grocery store (which is amazing), tons of restaurants in their food court area, a few drink/boba places. Office buildings on the 2nd floor. Only wish there were more gift stores in this place to buy souvenirs. read more

I have to say this mall is quite interesting. The parking lot is crazy packed. I mean its not easy to find a parking space during the day time. If you go inside, you will notice only the main floor is full of people. I mean the food court. The food court is huge. Its like half the floor space of the main floor and the other half is Osaka, the grocery store. So basically the food court and Osaka are popular at this mall and the rest are just dead-end businesses. Upstairs there are stores that are empty. I mean most people don't even bother going upstairs. But it still doesn't make sense to me, why the parking lots is so big but is so full and packed but if you add up all the people inside the mall, there is no way they took up the parking spot. Its an ok mall. I do come here once in awhile to pick up grocery or things from the food court. read more

I wouldn't call this place a shopping center, per say. It's anchored by a supermarket and a bunch of little shops that sell a bunch of random things. It's not something where I'd wake up and be like "hmmm, I need to head over to the Yaohan Centre to get x, y, and z." However, that's not to dismiss this place. The supermarket is huge and sells a lot of Asian food and snacks. Not gonna lie, I walked out with more than a couple bags of chips we can't get back in the States. Other than the supermarket itself, the main draw would probably be the food court. If you're coming up in here expecting hot dog on a stick, this is not the place. The food court is strictly all Chinese/Asian food. I know, it might not be a big deal to a lot of people that live around here, but to me being from the States, this is huge! The thing I like the most is that a couple of the places sell like 3 items for like $20 (around that range). That's a freaking steal imo! Although, I did learn that as closing time gets close, a lot of these places will start lowering the prices to that 3 item deal. There are a bunch of seating area for you to enjoy whatever food you decide to eat. The parking left a lot to be desired. The parking lot is small, and I encountered some people that couldn't drive to save their lives here. Can't wait for my next trip out here to get my fat boy on at the food court! read more

This is from Great Grain Food There are three things wrong with that name. 1) it is not great. This is mostly instant noodle. As you can see from the pictures taken, no veggies or meat or anything else. Just noodle. 2) It is not grain. It is the cheapest instant noodles you can find on the market 3) Food. If it is food then it must be edible. I don't think the "great" people who made this "food" eat this trash. read more

It's a big honking supermarket - I think I remember it "back in the days" when I was frequently going to Vancouver. This place was way before T&T got here to the Sixth. From what I know, I think T&T owns Yaohan and from what I remember, Loblaws owns T&T. Tells you how far our Asian stuff has gone mainstream! Oh ya! Yaohan's is situated right in the middle of bad traffic. If you need to go there, go off peak. If you intend to get some shopping before going home...not a bad idea as traffic might settle down after doing all your groceries. This is my favorite mall in the area. Why? It has the best food court - just about anything you want or had while growing up in HK you can find here. This was the mall where I found the spicy fishball that reminded me so much of my childhood days in HK. I can eat them nonstop until my stomach explode and I tend to do that often, along with the pig skin and pig intestines - just goodness that bring back memories. Besides the food court, I also enjoy the supermarket inside the mall where you can get some tasty buns, some tasty treats at the deli, inexpensive sushi...etc. There are also a couple stores that sell VCDs and DVDs where we always pick up some movies. Wow Yaohan. I remember this chain in Singapore (where I'm from) 20 years ago, and I used to visit it a lot with my family. However, they have withdrawn from the Singapore market, and hearing this name in Richmond definitely made me super excited. Yaohan is somewhat like an Asian supermarket, and we had a great time grocery shopping. Similar to Ranch99 chain in California, but much cleaner, larger, and brighter. Wow, I love Yaohan! Yaohan was the first major Asian supermarket of its kind I had ever seen and sadly I have yet to see any live up to its standard. This place has it all, the compliments of many honger businesses ranging from boutique stores to mini-dress shops, video games, car accessories, and an awesome food court. The parking can be a bit messy during peak times, but with enough patience spots tend to open up fast. Things are constantly changing here and every time I come here I always notice something is under construction and there are new stores abound. Most of the Asian supermarkets that I've seen have always lacked something that Yaohan had. Uwajimaya, Viet Malls in OC don't hold a candle to Yaohan's mega sized store of needs. They have lots of super interesting shops on the second floor with a market and food court on the first level - they are good, do not get me wrong. This rating is ONLY based on my experience ordering from Fresh Elements. Thus, RUN AWAY from Fresh Elements bubble tea/juice/coffee place! My friends and I decided to order some drinks. We asked for a green tea drink, the cashier was like which one? We repeated ourselves probably 3 times and she was still confused like she never heard of the name of her own products. We eventually pointed out the item from the chart and it took her another 20 seconds to orient herself. We pointed to the green tea drink menu, she was looking at milk tea menu. We said no, it is green tea. She then moved onto the juice menu. I do not know how frustrated anyone can get. Finally she oriented herself and said, oh, green tea? We don't have it, he is not here. I was like who is not here? She said the person who makes that drink is not here. We then had to order a honeydew drink and it tasted like - 1. water 2. water 3. water 4. no taste 5. water After we left, we noticed that they have a huge sign that says buy one drink get one free in the side corner. If you've just landed from Vancouver International Airport, Yaohan Centre is a great place to stop at, for Asian groceries and to grab a bite at its sizable food court. It's not too far from Vancouver International Airport, just over the bridge from Sea Island (where the airport is based from). We made this our pit stop to buy groceries at Osaka Supermarket, which has fresh produce, seafood, meats, packaged goods, bread and buns from the bakery, and prepared/cooked meals from the kitchen. You can also grab a couple take-out meals at great prices, located in the adjacent food court. The second floor has a variety of little shops Despite the heavy crowds and busy parking lot, Yaohan Centre is kept fairly clean. Oh Yaohan, how I miss thee. Parking is ridiculous here... on the weekends, at least. I have to dock a star just for that, because we spent 20 minutes trying to find a spot, and the lot is fairly huge so it's just insane how long we drove around for. People can also be ruthless and inconsiderate drivers too. But on the other hand, they have amazing little food vendors and a great Asian supermarket in Yaohan. It's usually a must-stop spot before we drive back to Seattle. I also pick up a bunch of Asian pastries and bubble tea. And the overall feel of the center makes me feel like I'm in Asia again. read more

This food court and supermarket center is really close to Aberdeen. Their food in the food court is more of the Panda Express/fast Chinese food types, although there are some specialty drink places, Hong Kong styled cafes, and some breakfast foods. The ones selling the chinese food all look very similar, and the prices are quite similar, too. I think three types of dishes with either rice, noodles, fried rice and a bowl of soup or hot tea for about $8. Also, at around 8-9 PM, most of the stores take out whatever they have leftover and sell plates and trays for very cheap! Three big trays of food for $10. There's also a very big supermarket inside of Yaohan with a place where you can order food and eat. There's even a cute bakery section with lots of cute cakes. If you go upstairs, there are a few more shops and more places for people to sit and rest. Walk outside, and there are a few other shops like a specialty music store. There's a great big parking lot, too. Worth the trip if you're in need of something or want a quick bite to eat. read more

Selection's good and all, but the cashiers' ayout, rudeness of shoppers, and the parking really sucks compared to Metrotown. Granted, it's smaller so probably contributes to all of this. If there's any tip, enter from the other side, Hazelbridge, instead of No.3 Road, a bit less traffic but the same headache to find a spot. read more
