My mom had her service dog with her, Zena is a small Yorkie, and mom had her in her arms when they walked in. The owner of the shop saw Zena and rudely told my mom that she said," That dog can't be in the store you need to leave" My mom mom's friend informed the owner that she is a service dog. Then the lady yelled "mama what service does she do?" My mom light hardily said she keeps me from going crazy to calm the owner down. Then the owner yelled again" Mama I don't care what your problem is I what to know what she does as a service". My mom tried to explain to her that she was a PTSD and anxiety service dog and the owner yelled yet again" Mama I don't care what your problem is I want to know what she does" My mom offered to go get her ID card showing that she was a trained service dog, and the owner told my mom no she took classes and knew her rights, My mom went out to the car and retrieved Zena's ID card to show her that she was a trained service dog, the owner yelled at her yet again that she didn't care that my mom could come into the store, but that dog couldn't. My mom then left the store and went back to the car where she had a sever anxiety attack from the shop owner yelling at her in front of other customers and not letting my mom show her that Zena had a right to be with her. My mom's friend finished her shopping and the owner told her that "your friend needs to go back to who trained her dog and her Dr because psychiatric dogs are not REAL service dogs" Zena is a well-trained service dog; she does not bark or show any aggression towards anyone and is small and easy to carry around when need be. She has even recognized when a special needs young lady was having difficulty in another shop my mom frequents and got my mom's attention so that she went over and talked with the young lady. While talking with her and explain what Zena dose the young lady told my mom I take medicine for my anxiety. Mom allowed Zena to snuggle with the young lady to calm her down. When she was done the young lady old my mom thank you I will be better now. Zena was also wearing her vest, had a leash that stated she is a service dog and her ID tag.

Had to even go on dirt roads on the way back, so that didn't make me too happy (way slow and way dirty and bumpy). I missed the shop the first time I drove by. I don't even know how. She has a large painted bright sign that says yarn, but I did miss it. She has a small, but very lovely, selection of yarn. I could have easily walked out broke. But I kept my yarn crazed head about me and only bought two skeins of yarn. She made a beautiful shawl that I hope to someday own, but I had to maintain a budget for the yarn crawl. She is a very talented knitter and a sweet woman, to boot. I love the area and the shop. Edie is lovely, helpful, knowledgeable and kind. She has a great variety of yarn and fiber arts tools too. I have time and decided to come by for the knitting group. What a beautiful experience! Edie, the shop owner helps if you get to a sticking point and the women were everything I could ask for in a group of like minded friends to spend time with, I have two more weeks in Co Springs and you can bet i'll be headed out there twice more.

The staff there; Rachel, Julie and Felicia were very helpful in directing us to the area of specialized material as well as informing us of the clearance and discount fabric material. Julie cut the material for us. Felicia assisted us and Rachel checked us out. Great customer service. The employees were helpful, friendly and truly enjoy working and helping customers. In a day and age where customer service seems to be lacking, these three should be commended for there dedication to their work and showed ethics that should be an example for all workers.

It is beautifully laid out, mixing yarn and gifts, crammed in wall to wall in the old converted house. Upstairs is the serious yarn stash. Floor to (low attic eaves) ceiling and wall to wall yarn! They have an excellent selection, good prices for the quality of yarn they carry and a helpful, caring staff. We drove through Buena Vista this last weekend and the only reason I didn't fling myself from the vehicle (while Shawn was trying to fly by going twice the speed limit so that maybe if he drove by fast enough I may somehow forget it was there and drag him inside with me for 3 hours of yarn shopping) was because it was closed. If there were 10 stars, this place would get them all and more. If you are ever anywhere near Buena Vista, even if you don't do yarny crafts and you just like beautiful, hand-made gifts, do yourself a favor and stop by. And another update for the yarn I bought there - the brand the lady recommended, Alpaca With a Twist, is now my all-time favorite brand of alpaca yarn (and I even attended the Great Western Alpaca Show last year). For the Holidays she was giving away patterns, even pattern booklets, from a selection on the table in the back room. She is starting this business, assuming it from the original owner, and she has changed the name of the shop. For a starting business she has a carefully chosen selection of yarns of good quality. She has synthetic and natural fiber yarns including locally grown and hand dyed ( I couldn't resist: Anything Goes, which was hand dyed locally on a base of Dream in Color Cosette. The shop is downtown, has good street parking, and a number of restaurants nearby. I wish I could browse there more often.
