My mother and a friend of ours stopped in to purchase some yarn for projects they are planning to make back on November 30, 2021. My mom had her service dog with her, Zena is a small Yorkie, and mom had her in her arms when they walked in. The owner of the shop saw Zena and rudely told my mom that she said," That dog can't be in the store you need to leave" My mom mom's friend informed the owner that she is a service dog. Then the lady yelled "mama what service does she do?" My mom light hardily said she keeps me from going crazy to calm the owner down. Then the owner yelled again" Mama I don't care what your problem is I what to know what she does as a service". My mom tried to explain to her that she was a PTSD and anxiety service dog and the owner yelled yet again" Mama I don't care what your problem is I want to know what she does" My mom offered to go get her ID card showing that she was a trained service dog, and the owner told my mom no she took classes and knew her rights, My mom went out to the car and retrieved Zena's ID card to show her that she was a trained service dog, the owner yelled at her yet again that she didn't care that my mom could come into the store, but that dog couldn't. My mom then left the store and went back to the car where she had a sever anxiety attack from the shop owner yelling at her in front of other customers and not letting my mom show her that Zena had a right to be with her. My mom's friend finished her shopping and the owner told her that "your friend needs to go back to who trained her dog and her Dr because psychiatric dogs are not REAL service dogs" Zena is a well-trained service dog; she does not bark or show any aggression towards anyone and is small and easy to carry around when need be. She has even recognized when a special needs young lady was having difficulty in another shop my mom frequents and got my mom's attention so that she went over and talked with the young lady. While talking with her and explain what Zena dose the young lady told my mom I take medicine for my anxiety. Mom allowed Zena to snuggle with the young lady to calm her down. When she was done the young lady old my mom thank you I will be better now. Zena was also wearing her vest, had a leash that stated she is a service dog and her ID tag. read more

My daughter and I went in to find some yarn for a shawl my daughter was making me. The store had a wonderful selection and everyone was very helpful in helping us find the right yarn for the project. I will definitely go back and support small business! read more

First time in this store. I spent 45 minutes picking out 16 skeins for my project. When it was time to check out and wind 5 of the skeins, the owner came in and said they were going to have a meeting. I had already given my CC to the salesperson and then was told that I would have to come back for the yarn as it would have to be wound and it takes 30 minutes. I was the only customer in the shop. Due to the lack of consideration of my time and the customer taking priority, I did not purchase the yarn and would never recommend this store to anyone. read more

I would not recommend this shop. They have nice yarn, but the customer service is lacking. She disciplined me on touching the yarn incorrectly like I was a child. The next customer that came in she told to take off her coat. When the customer said that she had her valuables, etc in her coat pockets, she argued with the customer and the customer walked out. I did buy yarn, but thought later that I should have just walked out too. The owner (I'm assuming), also did not have on a face mask, she had a sign around her neck that said 'medically exempt'. Beautiful yarn but the owner is extremely rude. I quietly FaceTimed my sister to show her some of the yarn they had on sale so she could buy it for a Christmas present. The volume was hardly on and we had literally just stepped foot in the store before the owner was like "You need to get off that phone because I'm talking to a customer!" To which I apologized saying I was trying to show my sister some yarn on FaceTime and she said "absolutely not, you need to take that phone off speaker NOW!" They have a decent selection, but far from "outlet" prices. The owner is helpful, but quite unpleasant. I've never heard anyone have a good experience shopping here, and I come from a crafty family. After hearing how poorly my mom was treated by the rude owner, even after spending $70+ dollars, they've lost my business. It's the owner who's the problem. I an avid knitter, and have been to most of the yarn shops up and down the Front Range of Colorado. I knit all types of projects, from hats, to stocks, to sweaters, to shawls. This is one of my favorite local yarn shops. I've always found a great selection with helpful staff, and at reasonable prices. It's definitely one of my favorite shops in the area. If I'm buying something I think I may want to return, I always ask, as some yarns can't be returned as they are close-outs. Sometimes I'll just buy one skein of something, and go home and do some sample knitting with it; then if I like it I'll go back and buy more. I've read some of the reviews that talk about rude staff, and I've never experienced anything like that, and I'm usually there about once a month. read more

Quality, Wait Time, Environment, Customer Service "Did not have 100% silk yarn, which is how the pattern was originally knitted. The owner immediately suggested that I could go to another yarn shop near by that would have the silk. But I like this shop so much I asked if she could make some suggestions. There were many other size 3 yarns suggested that would drape the same as the silk would have so I purchased 5 different skeins. Wish the receipt had designated which brand was which price. Probably returning some skeins my daughter didn't care for; but there were enough of all the various types that I was able to put a hold on all of them till she had a chance to decide." I used to really like this store a few years back an I understand it has changed ownership, but the service here is terrible! I buy hundreds of dollars of yarn here every year and as time has passed my experience has gotten worse. I now have decided NEVER to go back after purchasing a skein of yarn that looked completely deceptive with pink on the inside but red and black in the outside (apparently this was intentional though she did not warn me of this when I purchase it). I explain it was not what I expected an I needed to exchange it for something I could use. Then she refused as I didn't have my receipt with me because someone else in town sells it as well. I told her it was just last week and she was even the person who checked me out. I explained that she was going to lose all my business over the exchange of one skein of yarn. She told me that was my prerogative and I said it was the worst customer service ever. Clearly she does not understand the customer experience or care to keep repeat business. I just finished telling someone that they should go because they had a lot of neat yarn, but now I will have to retract that. I was visiting family and wanted some skeins to make a gift for a teen. I purchased almost $100 in various skeins from the owner of the shop. When we returned home the teen did not like one of the two colors. We returned to the yarn shop in less than 45 minutes and she refused to take two skeins of the yarn back for an exchange of color, with receipt, because, " all sales are final, no exceptions". The yarn had hardly been out of the bag! Please do not go to this shop with any expectation of reasonable customer relations. She was not especially warm, and it appeared she did not like her employees, either. She grumbled about them. She did have a pretty good selection of yarn, with some seconds, and a solid selection of books, but I would never go there again. There have got to be better places. read more

What a horrible experience! Owner was rude to not only myself but my kids as well who were perfectly behaved. My 2yr old wanted to help carry some yarn to the register and she wouldn't let him saying "they bounce and roll everywhere"! Then my 8yr old was looking at a door at the back of the store, just looking at it, and she physically pulled him away saying "do you read? That says staff only. Do you work here?" Then I go to the register to pay and she gets a phone call and talks on the phone for 10 min making some sort of lunch plans. On top of that she would not accept my debit card, which is in my maiden name, because my current DL is in my married name.i even had my old DL that was in my maiden name but even that wasn't good enough! I will NEVER return to this store and regret making a $60 purchase! What a horrible experience! read more

Honestly, after reading the reviews, I was expecting the very worst of service. I have been in there three times and each time, the owner is just lovely. She is helpful and always encouraging me to show her my work and will answer any questions I have. I am a brand new knitter and I have had nothing but exceptional and kind service. Every time, she encourages me to come in an sit with the experts and get some tips. And, I have taken work in there and she has helped me problem solve. So, I am not sure what people are referring to with the rude factor...just have not had that experience...at all. read more

I went in today inquiring about knitting lessons. The lady I spoke to was quite helpful and showed me different items on the class list, the different yarns and told me how they were different. I don't know where all the negative comments are coming from. I spent about 20 min in the store and had quite of bit of questions answered. I really want to support local businesses, but an incident today ensures I will no longer be a patron of this store. Approximately three weeks ago, I went into the store looking to purchase additional yarn to complete two different projects - both yarns were purchased two weeks earlier. The store had one of the colors in stock, but after searching high and low, a staff member was unable to find the other color. I was told they could check to see if they could get more in the shop, but no guarantees. I agreed to leave my name and phone number and was told someone would contact me within the next two weeks to let me know about the search. I was sceptical based on at least two other "searches/special orders" for which I was not contacted with an update, but I remained hopeful this time would be sucessful. Today, I received a phone call saying "a ball of yarn was waiting for pickup and would be returned to stock by May 4, if I did not come in to purchase." I asked to have the yarn held until next week, since this was the first I heard of the yarn being available. I was told no. In attempting to clarify the policy for special order holding/notification, I realized it was not the special order, but a ball of yarn I asked to be kept behind the counter just in case. I apologized, said it could be returned to stock, and as I tried to ask about my special order, the person who identified herself as the owner told me, "it was not her job to keep track of customer projects." Given the tone of her voice throughout the conversation (annoyance clearly came through from the start,) I decided to end the conversation by saying I would no longer be patronizing the store. My interactions with all the employees have been great and they are quite helpful. I cannot say the same for the owner as she has not been particularly helpful and her customer service with special order follow-up is either lacking or in this case, confrontational. Certainly not in the spirit of going out of her way to meet the customer's needs. read more

I've been to this shop several times and bought yarn here, but I won't be going back due to the owner who is quite rude and has little concern for customers. While my son and I were browsing through the store the last time we were there, the owner was at the register speaking on the phone to a friend, complaining about another customer and saying how she told them to shop somewhere else. She was not the least bit helpful to us either. I asked her if she knew what a yarn liked like worked up and she glared at me and said 'I can't have every yarn in the store worked up'. Ok. I didn't ask her to do that, but since she has lots of samples, I wondered if she knew. So forget about asking her questions. She won't be happy to answer anything. When we went to pay, she insisted that I sign my credit card with a signature. None of my cards are signed. I have 'see photo ID' on them, which I provided her. She refused to take my card unless the actual card was signed. We left and went to a different store. I won't be going back. Every time I've been there, she's short in conversations, not helpful and rude to others and me. It's just not a nice place to shop and after giving the benefit of the doubt a couple times, I'm done. I'll pay more at a store where customer service is a little better. I don't need to be fawned over, but decent interactions would be nice. It's a shame because her yarn selections and prices are both decent (which is why I gave the store 1 star). She could have a great business, but she drives people away. read more

Shopping at this store was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Many other individuals in my knitting groups warned me not to go there due to the horrible customer service and rudeness of the owner, but I went anyway because the store has a wide selection of yarn at reasonable prices. However dealing with the owner and her NASTY attitude makes doing business unbearable. I went in looking for a specific yarn for my project and the owner proceeded to advise against the yarn I wanted to purchase due to potential gauge issues. Even though she was condescending, I tried to look past her rudeness and focus on her expertise in yarns. I did not purchase the yarn she recommended until the next day because I wanted to think about it and research the yarn on the Internet. I returned the next day and purchased 12 skeins of yarn. I went directly to a knit meet up at the local library and attempted to use the yarn and wind it into a ball. Immediately I spotted not just a spall not but a 4 inch section of yarn that was tangled, untwisted and in a knot. Since I had only unwound about 36 inches of yarn before spotting the knots and frayed surface, I decided to take it back to the store. It had been less than 2.5 hours since I purchased the yarn. When I returned to the store the owner was there and stated to me that 4 knots per ball was the industry standard and she also refused to take back the ball of yarn even though in my opinion the yarn quality was compromised. She further stated that because I had in wound the 24 to 36 inches of the yarn to observe the knot and show it to her, the yarn was now considered used. I pointed out that clearly I had not used the yarn to do anything but to unwind the few inches so she could observe the knot nor had it be used to cast into my knitting needles or knit, she called me a liar and said that it was only my word verifying that information and she refused to refund me any money for any of the yarn, but issued me a store credit for everything except the clearly damaged ball. I tried to be tactful and explain that I only purchased the yarn because I trusted her expertise. Initially I wanted a Cascade brand of yarn, but she insisted that the Jojoland brand would meet my needs better. I ended up making a purchase of interchangeable needles to use up my store credit so that I would never have to return to that store. This store owner is absolutely obnoxious and has a poor customer service representation among other knitters in the Colorado Springs Community. I was previously warned not to do business with her but did not listen. This owner refuses to allow her customer to use any lavatory facilities in her store. That alone should have been a red flag as to the kind of person she is. I am writing this to warn ALL fiber consumers to BEWARE of that store and shop elsewhere in the community where there are several other reputable places to shop for yarn. Dealing with this owner who is a rude obnoxious bully, who seems to enjoy insulting customers is not worth shopping in her store. BUYERS BEWARE. read more

I had often shopped at the Yarn Outlet because of their ever changing inventory. My daughter loved going in to show off her knitting projects and the ladies were so nice and encouraging. Last time I went in it had changed owners and apparently the new owner decided to change it into a less friendly and inviting sort of place. I went in so that my 13 year old son could pick out yarn for a hat, and my 10 year old daughter could find some new yarn to knit with. We walked in and were greeted with "can I help you" I responded that my son was looking for a specific color/weight of yarn and my daughter was a beginning knitter and wanted to find something. All fine and good. The owner ended her conversation with the woman she was talking to and scurried over to me and said "you need to keep your children with you while you're here". I looked at her and repeated that my children were her customers and that they were looking for their own supplies, at which point she ROLLED HER EYES AT ME and did a snotty exhale. I could understand it if they were toddlers and running around screaming, but they were silently looking at the yarn and taking all of this in. We left. My daughter was crushed because on every other visit there she'd been treated like a knitter and welcomed there. Chances are I'll never go back and where I used to recommend them I no longer do. read more
