And for the quality of food you get, I think this place is reasonably priced. The restaurant is not far from Old Street station and has a pub feel, but slightly more refined. The staff was really friendly, attentive and knowledgeable on the menu. I highly recommend a reservation though as even when we came here on a Monday night, it was busy. I don't think you can go wrong with almost anything on the menu. Everything we had was delicious, and you can tell the chef's really know how and understand how to cook and flavor meat to perfection. The most surprising item though, is the White Chocolate Cheesecake. It is served out of a dish, tiramisu style, and is one of the best desserts I have had in a while. It was not too rich but so flavorful. So when you come here, make sure to save room for dessert!

Meat piled high with Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. It's eye popping and stunning what arrives at your table. Just look at the photo that I posted. I don't think I've ever seen a presentation quite as impressive as ever.

I mention this because we have some amazing steak restaurants in SoCal. The restaurant had several families dining, and had a nice level of background chatter. Our chef took the time to come speak with us, recommend cuts of beef and generally go over our options. This was a lovely surprise as this rarely happens. We started with "fall off the bone" ribs and the Hallumi - (squeaky cheese - wish I could find this here in SoCal... if anyone reading this knows a place... please let me know!) We ordered rib eye steaks, I had the filet... with sides of creamed spinach/truffle fries and Mac and cheese. Everything was cooked to our liking, and the chef came back out to check on us. We actually ended up going back again just because the food and service were great. Look forward to visiting again! (Oooh... if you go, ask for their salts.. I liked the Merlot infused one)

My mouth is watering from remembering the experience here. The green chili cheeseburger was messy to consume. The shredded lettuce was more like a slaw with how saucy it was. Even looking at the burger, you can see a sheen on the bun as if oil was smeared everywhere. It was tough to truly taste the burger itself with all the flavors going on. The green chili and pickles worked so well with the juiciness of the burger though. The 35 day aged ribeye was super juicy, fatty, and delicious. I think there was a perfect ratio of fat and meat going on here. There was a nice chew with each bite. I'm not a steak person, but with it being aged for that long, there was a nice subtle flavor. The hubs thoroughly his pick very much. The creamed spinach was surprisingly good. I'm not sure if it would rate high on the healthy scale, but it was indeed creamy and tasty. Veggies is the last thing I'd pick, but this pick was great. We overheard a local taking their friends here so this seemed to be a good spot. There was even a line forming before the business opened so get here early before the lunch crowd comes. Everything we ate was a 5 and had such a wowing moment. The complimentary popcorn at the beginning and soft serve ice cream at the end made everything that much more perfect. I would definitely come back if I'm in London again.

Welcome to Highgate, Popeseye. What a great addition to Highgate/Archway food scene you are…read more As Archway locals we in our household are lucky to have myriad of eateries to choose from at all hours of the day and night, so the fact that we have ventured to Popeseye twice in a month after we found out about its relatively new opening should speak volumes in itself. It is just a perfect addition to the neighbourhood - right on the main road, easily accessible from the tube but quiet, and unlike many quick grab and go eateries in the area, genuinely a lovely place to sit down, even if it should be for a full nice evening or say, a date. All that for nonprohibitive prices for a steakhouse, and we have a winner. Atmosphere is really lovely and cozy: what really serves this space right is that it is partitioned into two parts - so even if it is full, you retain quite an intimate atmosphere (that being said, on Tuesday's jazz and steak nights, when all the visitors tend to gather in the back area around the band, don't be discouraged by the seemingly empty front part which you get to see from the front windows are you are walking by!). But let's be real, atmosphere and location is nice, but steakhouses are about meat, meat, meat! Popeseye has not dissapointed me on this front. The five weeks hung grass-fed beef steaks are very flavoursome and juicy. The cuts are generous and the steaks are finished just right. So far I've tried a sirloin and their 'Jazz and Steak Tuesdays' special of 6oz rump and they were both exactly as should be. All steaks come with a generous side of fries and a big selection of sauces for the table (standard and dijon mustard, hollandaise, ketchup, horseradish, etc.). The Tuesday special for £15 includes the 6oz steak, fries, sauces, and one small glass of wine - definitely a good deal. (NB for the jazz lovers - from what I've seen, the musicians have been quite liberal with their interpretation of jazz, but hey - this is not a jazz bar and they were still good musicians and on tune, so I don't see a reason to put my judgmental hat on). Everyone was too full to sample the extensive whiskey and desert menu, but look - if you are smart and unlike us, don't order the phenomenally cheesy, home meals memories inducing mac and cheesy for the table, maybe you can give that a shot :). Both times service was knowledgeable about their meat, pleasant and efficient. I left as a happy meateater and I will be back.

The basement has a bar, lounge and restaurant. It was a little noisy. But we could still talk. The roasted scallops were cooked perfectly. The green sauce was tasty. I love the presentation. The Bill Marrow was also good. It was very rich. There were two kinds of Sunday roast a sirloin and a rump. Three of us had the rump roast dinner and three had the sirloin roast dinner. It was hard to tell the difference. All the dinners came with roasted potatoes greens and of course, Yorkshire pudding. It was all delicious. I have to say my favorite part is always the Yorkshire pudding. I also have a green salad, which is basically just lettuce with a light dressing. It was very fresh. We were too full for dessert. The service was excellent. We were seated right away and given water. In the UK, you can order sparkling, still or tap. Sparkling and still come with a charge. Tap is usually free. Our server was attentive without hovering. It's a good idea to make reservations at Hawksmoor especially for the Sunday roast. We got there at three by the time we left around 4:30 some of the roasts were already sold out. Just a note: Sunday roost is usually a late lunch not a dinner. It's good to go between two and four especially if you don't have a reservation.

(Comentario en español al final)…read more I'll write this review in two languages for more people to understand what I'm saying so if you keep reading you'll find a Spanish review on the botton ;) As the name suggests, this is the best kebab you can find in the city! The opened very recently and even if the prices are a bit more expensive than the old kebab that was there the amount of food on each plate is bigger as well. Chicken kebab taste is amazing + the meat doesn't look like the rest of the places, it looks like they have freshly-prepared meat and you can notice it on the amazing flavor that the chicken has! You can ask for a roll or on a plate, my suggestion is to take it on a plate since they include an gorgeous homemade bread with it! Careful if you want to order your kebab with chips... the plate is so big that you will explote if you ended up eating everything! ;) They also cook an amazing chicken wings on charcoal grill, yummmm! If you are a kebab lover this is your place!
