My fiancée told me he really liked Lucy's Taco so I decided to swing by their taco truck and get us a box of tacos each and the large guacamole. Firstly, the boxes have gone up to $10 each, but still include all of the goodies (rice, beans, and salsas.) the guacamole wasn't as much guacamole as it was quartered avocado, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro with super salty store-bought chips. Not really worth $8. They didn't have any carnitas so I ordered two sets of chicken. The tacos came with queso fresco/cotija, iceberg lettuce, but no cilantro and onion like advertised or seen in the other photos on Yelp. The chicken was shredded, but other than that fairly unremarkable. Their beans, rice and salsas were good, but I didn't go there for that. Unfortunately, I wouldn't visit this taco truck again. Coronas Tacos and Tacos Mi Pueblo are better options. read more

We hunted the best Mexican food in the region and a lot of lack luster slimy refried beans places were recommended that clearly used canned ingredients and more decor than culinary care...i think the taco trucks are the best..even though I've only gone to Lucy's ... Lucinda is amazing and a love. She encourages my boyfriend to try odd meats and shared her homemade tamales with me this last visit. Open daily. (Except Monday). The BEST (most authentic) cilantro onion double mini corn tacos Mexican I've found in Winona/lacrosse/Rochester. Right up there with our top taco place in Northern California. After reading many reviews, decided to give this off the beaten path food truck a try. Ordered one of each menu item (tacos with "steak", chicken burrito, chicken quesadilla and chips/guacamole). Took about 10 minutes to receive 3/4 if the order. Guacamole took another 5 minutes and then were told they didn't have any chips so they gave back $2 (despite miscalculating the total in the first place!). Food: Tacos: the "steak" was ground meat of some sort. Dry. Underflavored. Cilantro helped bring a little flavor. Burrito: despite being told there would be a variety of toppings, all of them seemingly were missing other than chicken and rice. This was the most bland burrito ever! Luckily the green salsa was good and added a kick. Quesadilla: very cheesy, but again lacked overall flavor. Guacamole: this was probably the best part. But we had to stop at Cub Foods to pick of some chips since they didn't have any. ‍ Two sauces: green was good, spicy. Red was nothing more than puréed tomatoes. Note: meals were supposed to come with rice (bland) and beans. I guess they were out of beans because every meal came with two servings of rice. It appears the reviews posted are outdated (most are over a year ago). This place was nowhere near spectacular and cut many corners and was missing many items (chips, beans, burrito toppings, etc). read more

The sauces and chips are amazing! You definitely need to try them all. The tacos are very unique but still maintain an authentic texture and flavor. They even had live music while I was there. Beer prices are about the same everywhere in Rochester. Overall I'm very pleased with my meal and will definitely be dining here again soon! read more

Not to be confused with Taco Moreno, which we haven't had the chance to try yet, that is across the street in the Cub Foods parking lot. Lucy's Tacos is a great little food truck. Nothing fancy, just good Mexican food. It reminded us of the food served at Mexican Bus stops in Chetumal. The menu is a little confusing (it's pretty much a piece of paper with words scrawled all over it) and 3/4 people running the place don't speak English (my Spanish has become extremely rusty over the years). Basically, you pick either a Taco, Burrito, Torta, or Quesadilla. Choose from a wide selection of meats (they were out of barbacoa the night we tried the place). Finally, each choice comes with rice, beans, and salsa. All of it for $7. The salsa is amazing and the best part of the meal. Be careful, it packs a ton of heat. The rice is a close second, Great Mexican rice. We ordered the Chicken Torta, Pastor Tacos, and the Steak Burrito. All three were good, but we preferred the Pastor Tacos, which are typical "soft" tacos found in MX and not the hard shell ones seen in the states. The Burrito was tasty, however, the meat had 4-5 tough pieces/gristle, which distracted from meal. If we come back, we'll only order Tacos. Not sure about the hours. Awesome authentic Mexican food hits Rochester!!! I've driven by Lucy's tacos many times but always just after I had eaten. A couple weeks ago, I finally passed by in an empty stomach and I must say I'm glad I did! We ordered two taco plates. Each plate comes with 4 small tacos and rice and beans for $7. I ordered the carnitas and my wife ordered a mix two carnitas and two asada. Both were great but asada is really really good. The salsa that comes with the tacos is spicy! I like it but it would be nice to tame it down a bit. They also have quesadillas and tamales and more. Cannot wait to try the tamales as well. We got the taco meal combo with al pastor and beef tacos. The meat isn't the most flavorful but... they are very generous with servings and their salsa is so good you don't notice. I don't get it. We arrived at 7, which would understandably be a busy time. There weren't too many people there, but it took 10 minutes to order, and then another 30 plus minutes to get food. We got home and opened a box that obviously doesn't look like meals others have gotten. The beans were white paste. The rice was basically flavorless other than grease. I went to pick up one of the tacos and the Shell was entirely soaked through with grease. Upon picking it up we immediately noticed the remaining pool of orange grease underneath that remained after the shells had absorbed all they could. The whole mess went in the trash. Stopped at Lucy's a few weeks ago after hearing about the place from numerous friends. I love little hole-in-the-wall places and this is a food trailer in a parking lot, so I was very interested in what they were cooking up. I've been to Tijuana, Mexico, numerous times, so know what a good street taco should taste like. The tacos I've had at Lucy's are excellent. The guac is fantastic as well. And Lucy is an absolute treat to talk to. She's a very friendly and personable woman and seems to always be in good spirits. The only drawback to this place is that it's in a parking lot with folding tables and chairs, so the atmosphere isn't the best and it will be closed for the winter. Prices are extremely reasonable. A $1.50 for a taco and $3.50 for chips and guacamole. read more

If you want late tacos, skip Taco Bell because that gets blown out of the water by this. Normally open until 12 a.m., they extend their hours to even 3 a.m. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Not happy!! 30 minutes waiting for food. They never told me they where out of rice and beans so I open my container to find mini taco, not bad but they should have told me. They also didn't have nachos (really). The guy at the counter wasn't rude but gave off a negative vibe that rubes me the wrong way. They had to make more chicken so that slowed things down. Five minutes latter the guy jumps in his car and peeled out of the parking lot. Best taco truck in town for vegetarians! After hearing about Lucy's from several friends I made a stop. There was no veggie burrito on the menu and the gentleman working said his mother (who I presume was Lucy) was the only one who knew how to make them. I walked him through it by explaining that he could put anything that was a vegetable, rice, and/or beans into a tortilla and call it a veggie burrito. He was polite and accommodating and did an awesome job. I think they should throw a veggie on the menu. I've tries three taco trucks in town; none of them have a veggie burrito listed on the menu and sadly; Taco Moreno across the street didn't even have beans or rice which would have made for a pretty dismal burrito. $7.00 for a burrito made with fresh ingredients is hard to beat! I find myself only going to Lucy's Tacos when I'm in need of tacos. The azada tacos brings me back to the taco trucks down in San Diego. After reading so many good reviews and loving good Mexican food I was disappointed! My daughter and I ordered the cane asada tacos with rice and beans. The good part was the service was friendly and the ingredients did seem fresh. The beans and rice were ok as far as flavor goes and the same was true for the carne asada tacos. The biggest issue my daughter and I had was how gristly the beef was, TOO chewy. This is a household favorite. The illusion is that they only serve tacos. Swing by and request a Torta. It is rarely on the menu, but they'll make it for you if you ask. Get no beans on the torta to avoid any sogginess with the bread. Steak tacos are ridiculously awesome with cilantro and ask for double limes to really saturate that puppy with fresh lime juice. Spring brings taco Season to Rochester. We were searching to find some tacos and made Lucy's our stop for today. Lucy's compares very well to some of the best tacos we have had. The azada tacos were great and seemed traditional with cilantro and onions. The pollo wasn't to our liking (wanted more of sharper grilled taste) but still was good. The salsa verda was great. Nicely hot with rich tomatillo flavor. The salsa roja looked like it was just mild. We were pleasantly surprised it had a nice kick. We will definitely be back. read more

Not only does the food take a long time to prepare. But often times they are out of many things on their menu. Another turn off is the front man who takes the orders. While he may be polite, he exhibits unprofessionalism in appearance and demeanor. I'd consider a new person ...
