The bartender was verrrrrrrrry rude and unprofessional. Maybe you will get a better bartender than me. And oh make sure you have a fresh ID because if your ID looks "too old" then it is not validated. The diviest dive bar that ever dove. And that's okay. I like dive bars. Ye Olde Saloon is a welcome change from your Black Finn or 521 Main St. scene. They have a nice selection of beers, cheap fried food, shuffleboard and even live music on the weekends. It is not a place you need to worry about dressing up which is also nice. So check out to Ye Olde Saloon for a night without worrying if you wore the right shoes or shirt. I believe they have happy hour specials as well so it might be worth checking out during the weekday evenings. Best bet: go here and sit at the bar and catch a Tigers game on a weeknight after work. read more

Good cheap drinks, great staff, $1 burger sundays, and a really low self-entitled jerk ratio. Not too busy lots of times, but almost always busy at closing time. Where drinkers go when their friends call it a night. Royal Oak needs more like it. read more

The AC works again!!!!! happy hour rocks with $1.00 drafts Same special durring games. Food...Sunday (burger freaking good) $1.00 Wednesday Sloppy Joe's (really freaking good) $1.00 Lots of other specials the rest of the week just ask the bartender. Overall the place is a blast 80% of the time. Cool people just grabing a beer after wroking all day long. The 20% downside is when the d-bags are around...they migrate everywhere so they are easy to spot and avoid. read more

I come here time to time with my friends. We take a particular liking to the old shuffleboard table they have. The place is just OK. They serve what any bar serves. The prices are that as most other bars in Royal Oak. A big +1 for serving Edmund Fitzgerald on tap. The decor is old, the tables and chairs are old, a good old fashioned dive bar. What totally sets this place apart from any other dive I've been in is the shuffleboard table. My friends and I have spent countless hours sliding the pucks around. Usually a good time had by all. Nothing special about it, but in the end if you have a good time with your friends, you can't ask for much more. read more

I had not come in here since the new owners had taken over, which has been a while now. Didn't much care for the changes based on a single visit after the take over-Nothing terrible, it was just a different bar. I met a buddy up here recently and was really surprised at how great the staff was and how the bar really had not changed much when compared to the old days. They have decent daily specials, solid staff, and a pretty nice manager. I haven't tried the food yet, but it looked pretty good. I'll put this one back in my pocket as a favorite Royal Oak bar. read more

I LOVE YE OLDE SALOON!!!! Relaxed atmosphere that can become a huge party out of nowhere! The burgers and sandwiches are great, and they have an ever-changing Michigan craft beer selection. They have weekly specials and on the weekends you can expect to find a mix of regulars and randoms. This is a great place to go with a group or just by yourself. read more

This is one of my most favorite dive bars to go to and $1 BURGER DAY is the shiznit!! The fried egg on top and the side of tots completes me. Classic dive bar with really strong cheap drinks and great service. When I say cheap I mean $3.50 well drinks and when I say strong I mean you can barely taste the mixer. It's not as small as it looks from the outside, you'll be surprised. Ye olde is the only bar that I know of that still has a table shuffle board. They also have darts, and golden tee to keep you busy. I have eaten here and well there's not much I can say about chips and cheese. I'm not sure what else they have but I come here to drink so it doesn't matter. There is always a good mix of patrons. This is probably my favorite bar in Royal Oak. They have a Tuaca chilling machine! Name a dive that has one of those. The vibe is laid back, the internet juke box is the cheapest I have ever seen, and the drinks are about as reasonable as you'll find in Royal Oak. The only bar in town that is really a bar. Hipsters, douchebags, dirtballs, bikers... all are welcome at this bar as far as I can tell. It has a great chill atmosphere, awesome food, LOCAL beer selections and specials, and of course an outstanding staff and near-perfect lighting. Went with a group that fluctuated in size from 8-12 people. The only reason I did not award the full five stars is they seemed to be short staffed. Our waitress (Katie) was great but seemed like she had a little too much on her plate. They could have used at least 1-2 more cocktail waitresses. Hamburgers were phenomenal. I personally had the mushroom and Swiss burger and it was one of the best I've had. I was told the tacos were really good as well. The bartender was generous; my Bacardi and cokes' were poured quite strong. The jukebox was perfect... Million + songs. Pool table and shuffleboard tables were a lot of fun. I didn't play darts or the pinball machines but the members in my group that did seemed to enjoy them. I would definitely recommend for a fun night out with friends. read more
